I am eating my meh greek salad with grilled chicken while I write this review. I love their new location right across from my office. It's beautiful inside. But I wish my salad could mirror the beauty of the old bank building. It's as though someone attacked a head of iceberg lettuce with a machete, and then as a second thought hastily threw some cherry tomatoes, white onions (of all things that people want to eat raw), and huge chunks of feta cheese on top. Now, none of this tastes bad. But for $9.95, I expect mixed greens, red onion maybe, a tomato that someone sliced, and more than 3 olives. Super friendly and fast service! Had French toast w bacon and eggs over easy and French roast coffee. FT was nicely done and served w Aunt Jemima syrup. Bacon was crispy but not over done and delicious. Eggs were done as requested. Good little spot downtown, simple and well executed. read more

A new find for me! The environment is great. I love the repurposed bank. Service was quick. The food was really good! The staff was busy working on orders. Lots of takeout happening and catering. Nice place to have lunch or coffee. Consider having a small meeting for 2-4. Comfortable. Nice food selection. If I worked in the area I'd be here frequently. Reasonable prices, too. Arrived at about 12:15 and ordered lunch here. The 2 people I came with got their food within a couple of minutes, but no sign of my lunch. I went up to the counter (they didn't bother to check on me) and was told it was coming soon. Soon enough, the people I was with had finished their food with no sign of my lunch. Other people that came in around the same time that I did had come, eaten & gone in this time period. When my lunch finally showed up, I just had the lady wrap it up to go since I wasn't going to make the people I was with sit & wait while I ate. She was grumpy about having to do this and it took her an unusually long time to come back with my wrapped up food... When I went to pay & was asked how everything was, I said I didn't know because I was waiting too long for my food to have a chance to eat it. The woman at the register just kind of stared at me for a few seconds with a blank, lifeless look on her face before asking if my drink was a soda, telling me my total and taking my money. No "sorry about that", no "this won't happen next time, sorry we were busy", no "that's terrible, lunch is on us", not even a free soda. I don't ask for things for free, but a decent place would've offered it to make up for lousy service. I noticed that David, the owner/manager, was not there today. Seems like it's a whole different ball game in this place when he's not around to keep it running smoothly. Not a good sign. Stayed at the Lord Baltimore Hotel last weekend. Found this place with Yelp. Upon entering two order takers were waiting to take our order. We needed a bit to acquaint ourselves with the menu. The options were many. I picked the FARMERS BREAKFAST WRAPPER $5.25 Two eggs, american cheese, bacon, sausage, bell peppers, onion and home fries all stuffed in a honey wheat wrap. My wife's choice was BREAKFAST SANDWICH$3.75 Egg and Cheese with choice of bacon, sausage or scrapple - on toast, English muffin, bagel or our own house made buttermilk biscuit. As you can see ham wasn't an option but they accommodated her pleasantly when she asked. There is a separate coffee station with personnel to provide you with your coffee and refills. Our total bill was $14.00 and change which I considered very reasonable. The place is quite clean. There is a small bar next door with a pass through door to it if you so desire. On my next trip back this will definitely be a stop. read more

This is a solidly ok place to go if you're looking for a quick, inexpensive bite in the downtown area. Service was great, and David himself was there to ask how I liked the meal. Unfortunately, I didn't love it. I got the Southwestern wrapper, which came with chicken, salsa, lettuce, and cheese. The chicken was pretty dry and flavorless. My friend got the gyro salad, which she said was great but the first time they gave her dressing it was weirdly congealed so she needed to ask for another one. I showed up right on the cusp and they said they could still make it for me then after a few minutes they changed their mind, told me they couldn't, and made me change my order. As another review mentioned the ordering process is a tad confusing and still had me wondering if I missed something and how they still used the honor system for payment. I loved the down key atmosphere for breakfast and the coffee blend choices. I had the breakfast platter which by no means was fancy. The bacon was cooked well and eggs over easy done well. The highlight was the light but thick buttermilk pancakes that were delicious with rich maple syrup and sitting on top some fresh butter. My family and I arrived at 12:40p. We were told, quite harshly, that they close at 1. I wasn't sure why we were being told this because we arrived before 1. Her tone was so hostile, I asked her if it was ok for us to order. She told me yes, but they close at one. More confusion. So I asked her if it's ok to order and sit to eat. She was getting more irritated. She repeated, yes, but we close at one. At this point I asked her if that means we have to leave at 1 (I was completely confused). She said no. Cool. We get ready to order. She walks away. A guy comes to take our order but first, makes sure ( quite politely I'll say) that they close at 1. So we go through the drill again and he at least gets to the point and says "u can sit but at 1, I'll have to ask u to leave". He then suggests we take out. We tell him we are not from around, we are staying at a hotel. Then he starts trying to figure out places we can take our food to to eat. That was enough for me. We left. I worked in the restaurant industry for a few years. closing time has always been for customers walking in, not for staff to leave. The owner of this establishment needs to be aware that people are being turned away because his staff wants to leave early. read more

This morning while meandering around Charles St. when I happened upon David and Dad's and I must say I'm glad I decided to give it a try. The people working the counter are beyond friendly. When I went to order my food and tried to order a drink to go with it. I was stopped and told to "Take what I want. We're on the honor system." (Clarification - You order, you eat, then you pay) What!?! Unheard of in Cincinnati, friendly but ballsy. I got French toast, bacon, and coffee for six dollars. A steal I tell you! Honestly this joint is just a one star kind of place. The waffles tasted like those out of a box mix and the "gyro" I ordered tasted like processed meat.
