Dave's Lock and Key came to my mother's home in Frederick on 5/7/19 after I took her to lunch and upon returning, she realized she had left her keys in her locked house. After calling three local locksmiths who did not have any available technicians, I found David Tracey of Dave's Lock and Key. David answered the phone promptly and expressed a high level of concern when I explained my mother was somewhat frantic. He vowed to get to our house as quickly as possible and 15 minutes later, called again to let us know he was caught in traffic but would be another 15 minutes. Just the communication kept my mother calmer. David arrived on time, greeted us with a smile and expressed the confidence of someone who has seen this issue thousands of times but could handle breaking into my mother's front door. He patiently listened to my mother over-explain what likely happened to her key, and I was impressed that he was not dismissive of her talking. Still, David got to work and within 10 minutes had unlocked the front door, which let in enough light to the living room to reveal my mother's set of keys on her couch. After paying David for the service he courteously talked with both of us for a few more minutes, showing that he was a "real" person who understood the customer service side of a business. Lastly, David's fee was very reasonable. I certainly would recommend Dave's Lock and Key to anyone in the Frederick area and my mother now has his business card and knows to reach out to him if a lockout occurs again. read more
