This company charges way too much to rekey locks. We replaced locks for our new home and was charge $100 per cylinder. The final cost was over $800 for three doors. We were initially quoted $300. My dear husband was the one who dealt with the technician as I was not present, if I were present, I would have told the technician to stop work and found someone else. This is completely robbery --- NO ONE should pay $800 to change locks for three doors. These were NOT electronic locks, these are BASIC door locks. I am furious that this company would charge this much --- but will give 1 star since it's my husband's fault for agreeing to pay them for it. read more

We used this business for rekeying a few locks at a residence. Our mistake was to trust that they had our best interest in mind. Their prices are way higher than other locksmiths in the area but they won't tell you that. Their service charge for coming over was not disclosed either. It's our fault for not requesting a written estimate for the work being done. I had the best experience with Caliber Locksmith on a Sunday afternoon during Labor Day weekend after accidentally locking myself and my 14 month old out of our house. They answered my call right away and sent someone out promptly. The technician Moses was very kind and professional. He worked hard to get us inside our home with minimal wait time, which was greatly appreciated considering I had my small child with me outside on a warm day. They were unprofessional to speak with and dishonest about pricing. I would have happily paid the full amount if the reps had been honest, upfront and professional about it. Long version: I called to find get a price on a replacement car key and was told that there would be a starting price of $120. I heard the words "starting price" so I inquired multiple times whether there were ANY other fees that they could tell me about upfront. The rep I spoke to said no and that the $29 service fee was included. I asked again, are there any other fees you can tell me about now? Again, there was a starting price of $120 and the technician could give me a final price based on the car. Ok. The technician showed up and immediately told me it would be $240: $120 for the key and $120 to pull up the information needed for the key. I was floored because he had barely even glanced at the car itself. The rep ABSOLUTELY knew that there would be a steep additional fee, but had chosen not to tell me, even when I asked multiple times. She didn't have to tell me an exact price. She could have told me "there's an additional fee for pulling up information" when I asked multiple times about additional fees. She could have given me an estimate, like the rep gave Angela (a few reviews down.) But nope. When I called and calmly pointed this out to her, she was rude, evasive and refused to admit to her mistake. I eventually let the locksmith know I would be going with another company. read more

We had to use Caliber twice in the same week for two different issues. One was a key totally jammed into our (fancy and complicated) locks. Richard was able to come out in about an hour and get the key out (it had to be dissembled because this "fancy" lock is VERY sensitive and not just your normal key situation). He also was great at explaining the issue and helping to figure out how to make sure it didn't happen again. Later in the week on a different door, we actually had a break-in on our condo building, meaning damage to the lock cover and security plate. Richard came out and assessed that and gave a full explanation of what happened (lock-wise) and how to prevent it in the future. He repaired the lock plate cover (the metal piece that sits over the door frame, basically) with better parts to protect the whole mechanism. At every point Richard was very communicative and helpful in explaining the whole process and issues facing our lock system and what the best (and long-term) solutions were. We hope to not have to use them again, but if we have a lock problem, we definitely will! read more

I called caliber this morning and spoke with a customer service rep about getting a quote. He was nice and professional, everything seemed above board. They could not give an exact quote over the phone but told me that it would be anywhere form 120 to 240 for my replacement key, but if i found it too expensive, the tech would charge $29... still totally fine. Then the technician called.... He informed me that he would not be coming out for the service call unless i was definitely getting the key. 30 dollars was not enough for the call. He then told me it would be 240 dollars... To me it seemed like 1, he pulled this number right out of his butt and 2, he had zero interest in anything other than his next payment. I cancelled my appt, not soon enough to avoid a rather petulant rant form the tech and i called the company back. 2 stars because the two people i spoke to before and afyer the tech were pleasant. One was albert and the other was the parts manager. Otherwise, this would be a solid one. Ended up getting a recommendation from a brick and mortar locksmith for lamars mobile locksmith service. I left a review for them on yelp as well. read more

Last night I came back from work around 11pm, accidently i locked my keys inside the igntion, i was stuck outside with the freezing wind I called caliber locksmith for assistance, i admit i was surprise that a tech named Tom arrive in less then 20 minutes, (based on previous situations that other companies came after an hour when they tells you 25 min over the phone) he opened my car in no time, and charged really fair price. No damage or scratches on the car, so based on clean work, fast service knowledge and reasonable price... Called these guys in Baltimore to unlock a bedroom door in a group house. They said it would be $29 plus labor. The final charge was $199. That's $171 for labor lasting about 2 minutes. Their customer service never called me back when I complained. They are total swindlers. Don't use the Baltimore office! They lie and they steal from you. read more

I just locked myself out of my house about an hour ago, with freezing rain falling. I tried every way imaginable to get into my house, even trying to break a pane of glass in my front door with a large rock (only to learn that the last homeowner must have installed essentially unbreakable glass). Then I began calling locksmiths, because of course I did not forget my cell phone. Most of the other locksmiths were going to take an hour or more and charge a very high amount for just coming to my house, plus additional fees for the amount of time. The locksmith from Caliber Locksmith said he would be at my house in 15 minutes, but actually came in 10 minutes. He charged me far less than the other businesses I called. He did a perfect job: I got in my house very quickly once he got there. Hopefully I am never locked out again, but if I am, I have this company's card. read more

I used Caliber to re-key several locks and had a great experience. The keys were recut quickly and at a reasonable cost. Harel, who did a great job with the keys was my savior when the deadbolt in my front door suddenly failed. He came out and removed the old broken lock and installed a new deadbolt. Works perfectly. Worst experience ever, I could have just opened my apartment door myself with a neighbor's kitchen knife. Their prices on the website are absolutely deceiving which looked like it was more like a $50 charge, instead I got hit with a $129! The guy who showed up after more than an hour simply stuck a piece of little wire in the lock, twisted and the door opened. I asked him how he determined this outrageous price for a job that literally took a second to complete and he didn't even blink. Complete ripoff!
