I called Chiko's about 7:20PM on a Saturday. My door had gotten stuck closed with me on the outside and my partner on the inside. There was a locksmith, Mike, at my house before 7:45. He actually dropped a job when he found out I was locked out! Mike was clear about pricing and very quick. I was in my house in moments. Once I was in he returned to the dropped job. First time ever locking myself out of the house. Bummer. I called Chiko's to get into the house. When I called, I was quoted $150 to $230 depending upon the difficultly. Chiko called someone else who did get to the house within 15 mins. Definitely prompt. I asked the person who showed up how much. He said it could be tricky etc... Anyway, it took this person 2 mins to open the door. I was then charged $239! For a job that took all of 5 mins if you include his getting out of and back into his van. On top of that, this person was furious when I told him what I was quoted. He told me they charge so much because of his car, insurance etc... I didn't have an issue with the $150 (although it took 5 mins). I do have an issue with the guy who showed up, charging me an extra $90. The tech who came to the house was super scary. Called up Chiko's on Thursday, and Itamar answered and came out the next day. My schedule for that day was all over the place, but Itamar kept in touch with me through text and we made it work pretty easily. I think when a company gives you a window - thats nice, but being able to run errands and text with the person who is actually coming is much easier and gives you much more flexibility. He came when he said he would, and replaced one lock, and rekeyed another. I had people doing some work in my place while he was there, so I couldn't be inside while he worked, and instead shadowed him - which I thought would be annoying so I said I can leave him alone but I just can't be inside - he was extremely kind, and he talked me through everything he was doing. Chiko's installed a new lock when I moved into a new place. Not even 4 years later the lock Chiko's installed malfuntioned and I couldn't get my key out of the lock. Upon calling to have it repaired, the tech quoted $700 to replace the lock. When I called to speak with the owner, he said there are no set prices for the lock replacement and the tech determines the price for each job. The tech then stormed out leaving me with a big hole in my door where the lock was. I've never experienced anything so unprofessional. I found another locksmith who did the job for under $200. Needless to say I will never call Chiko's again, nor refer anyone to them. I will be sure to share my experience with those near and dear as well. read more

I called some 800 number as I was locked out of my new house and they sent Chiko. He came in a professional looking van, worked out the problem very quickly without damaging the new door. I asked him to look at other locks in the new house as I wanted to change them. He seemed very knowlegeable and gave me a lot of information about the locks. He spent a lot of time answering my questions. I hired him to come in a few days and replace five locks. I did not go for the most expensive option but I believe that safety is very important and paid a lot of money to have the whole house rekeyed.
