I can eat really spicy foods and I was able to eat about four bites of the reaper chicken strip. The only problem is I had mouth sores for a week from from eating the chicken. It wasn't because it was hot in temperature. It was hot in flavor. The lady that took our order did warn me but she was nice about it. We all ordered the number three. You can get a different seasoning for the tender and the sandwich .The seasoning on the fries and the wings were good. We will go again, but I know not to order the reaper next time. read more

Different fast food restaurant with some good hot chicken as the name suggests. I got a slider with a chicken tenders, slider is really good sized and had cole slaw and pickles on it to boot! Chicken has an interesting dry rub of some sort on it that I really enjoyed. Fries were crispy and went well with my entrees. My gf got chicken nuggets version of their chicken which she enjoyed. We've heard about DHC for years, and it's great to finally enjoy it in Toledo. With wonderfully trippy graffiti on the walls, an open seating area, and surprisingly friendly and happy staff, the vibes are legit - as is the food! We'll try mild next time, because everything above, while delicious, is too hot to enjoy more than a few bites. And if you're not familiar, this type of chicken's heat is cumulative. You think you're fine a few bites in, and then some point, you start to fear for your life. My only complaint is around the chaos of the ordering area. Food comes out inconsistently slow, seems to prioritize to-go over in-house, and with incredibly spicy food, the serve-yourself drink station is super busy. Because it's right in the mix of everyone waiting for their food, it's a little chaotic, and makes it hard to hear order numbers. It was big news when I saw on Instagram that Dave's hot chicken opens their new location in Toledo. DHC is definitely my favorite chicken spot in LA. However this location wait time was much longer. I understand that it just opened so they are trying to settle in. I really that they are able to keep up with that quality to the ones on CA. I would prefer DHC over any other chicken place any day. I first found Dave's in Toronto on a business trip and found it incredibly tasty. So much so that I told all of my work colleagues about it during the event and convinced them all to try it -- they loved it! Being from Ohio, I never expected to run into it again except big cities. Imagine my delight when I found out one opened in Toledo not too far from our corporate offices. What'd I do? Went straight over and ordered a hot chicken sandwich. It was everything that I remembered and oh so delicious. It has this wonderful flavor, the buns are just right, and the heat level is at his perfect spot for a sandwich. THIS DAVES SUCKS. I literally went to cedar point and had not eaten all day so I was so excited to go to Dave's and get some chicken. I've had Dave's in Columbus and Michigan and they were both great so I was expecting great things from this one as well. Well that unfortunately was not the case. I ordered my chicken as LIGHT MILD as I do at ALL THE OTHER DAVES and it was BURNINGGGGG my mouth. I thought maybe it was just me and my pain tolerance so I go to see what the rest of my family thinks of their orders (because they had gone with me) and I see them literally teary eyed and confused on why their burgers were SO INSANELY spicy. It ruined the experience and the food and I am genuinely livid because why did they make a LIGHT MILD slider into a medium-high one. I am so upset and so is the rest of my family because we cannot even eat our burgers because of how spicy it is. read more

My first review in a while so yalla. When I first heard that Dave's Hot Chicken was opening a location in Toledo I was ecstatic. My family and I normally go to the location in Dearborn Heights, so the convenience of a Toledo location makes the experience of going to Dave's a whole lot easier. I ordered a #3--A slider and a tender, served with sliced bread, pickles, fries, and Dave's glorious and delicious sauce. The sauce is on point. The chicken is well seasoned and very crispy. The fries were well seasoned, and the pickles were a nice crunch to my already crunchy chicken. The decor is that of any standards Dave's location, which is appreciated. The service was good-- fast and friendly. Good to know that Dave's Hot Chicken is hiring good people to serve their customers. Overall, I give Dave's Hot Chicken five stars and will be returning soon. read more

Excellent art, and some of the best overall ambiance I've experienced in a fast food or fast casual restaurant. That's a good reason to come back all by itself. I sat on a bench against the wall towards the back, and I felt like I was away from the bright lights and chaos of the main sitting area, somewhere that I could relax. Chicken was quite good. The first time I got it on Doordash and it was still good even after getting a bit colder on the ride over. Second time, I got it in person, and it was even better hot and crispy. I went around 8PM on a Thursday, and waited maybe 5 or 10 minutes from when I entered the place to when I got my food. There's also an option to order ahead online. They have a lot of spice options. I've tried mild, medium, and hot, but not the hotter options. I might try the extra hot if I'm feeling adventurous. Reaper sounds scary. It's convenient that they have two sliders in the combo so you can try two different heat levels. It's a great marketing tactic. Their slaw is quite good. I normally prefer a vinegar based slaw rather than mayonaise. This one has some mayo, but not too much mayo, and the addition of kale. You get to enjoy a lot of veggie flavor. I've been subbing out the fries for slaw, so I haven't tried the fries or mac and cheese yet. The overall spice profile of the chicken is a bit on the dark side, like maybe cumin or something. Distinct from the typical Nashville hot style. I didn't love it at first, but it's growing on me. A single slider is about the size of a Chick-Fil-A sandwich, so the combo is quite a sizable meal. A single combo with an extra side or shake could feed two smaller appetites. Between this spot and Raising Cane's which both recently opened in the Toledo area, we have greatly upgraded our fast casual chain fried chicken game! If I have one complaint it's that it was a bit hard to hear them calling the numbers for orders, and I had to stay close to the counter waiting for my number to be called. They had a digital board for online orders. Why not expand that to display the numbers for regular orders as well? I haven't tried the top loaded shakes. They seem kind of strange. Like wouldn't I prefer my mixings on the bottom or blended through rather than on the top? You eat them off the top and then you have none left. I suppose you could slurp the shake from underneath and save them. I'll probably try them eventually. They seem gimmicky, but I'm intrigued. read more

With the recent opening, we have seen frequent lines out the door. We got lucky and there was a short line so we tried it for dinner. The service and wait were fine but a little disorganized set up for ordering and pick up and which register for cash vs cards. The chicken itself was tender, juicy and high quality. The coating is very crispy and it came out hot temp. The seasoning on the fries was beyond salty and I could not eat them. The medium sliced chicken wasn't spicy, just incredibly salty. The Cole slaw was ok, not too flavorful but at least not salty. We don't plan on returning but are happy the people that like it have a location nearby. read more

Been eating here since the day before they opened, let me tell you it's AMAZING! I've been waiting so long for Dave's to come to Toledo because I used to eat it all the time and michigan.
