This review is specific to Kyle who intimidated me into leaving my 6 year old behind on the whitewater rafting trip. When I tried to get my 6 yo fitted for boots, Kyke asked me how old my son is- to which I responded, "6." My son, who is small for his age still confuses numbers, and having just turned 6, mistakenly said "4." I assured Kyle my son is actually 6. Despite this, Kyle continued to browbeat me about my son's age, showing complete insensitivity to the fact that kids can very significantly in size and maturity. He repeatedly said my son would be traumatized if he went, and wouldn't let up about how traumatized my son would be, despite my unequivocal insistence that I know my son's age. Nevertheless, he harassed me SO HARD that I thought my tired 6 yo who had already been on the scenic rafting tour earlier in the morning (same company but no harassment then) would not fare well on the last whitewater rafting tour of the day. His comments about my son being traumatized led me to believe the water would be rough and frigid. So I left my son behind with his father, and Kyle said quite unsympathetically, despite having intimidated me into this decision, that a refund would not be allowed. Now that I've done the tour, I am certain my adventurous son would have had a blast on what would have been his first whitewater rafting tour at age 6. The water was mellow but just exciting enough for a 6 year old and it was fairly warm at 55 degrees (Especially with a wet suit). I am beyond furious that Kyle intimidated me in such a way; instilling fear in a parent to a young child trying rafting for the first time, and treating me as if I am a liar. Totally ruined my experience. I would recommend trying a different rafting touring company if you have young kids. read more

We just did a whitewater trip today and it was EPIC! I have been thoroughly impressed with Dave Hansen throughout - they are extremely organized, friendly, and fun. The downtown location was super convenient walk from our hotel. From the shop staff to the bus driver to our guide, Roger, everyone was totally awesome. I was nervous about this trip because I know someone who actually died whitewater rafting and I'd never been, but my fear went away quickly after we got on the water. Roger was super professional and knowledgeable, but also very lighthearted. It all put me at ease. He clearly has a lot of skill on rivers and I never once felt unsafe - I even got up front to ride the bull and paddle! 100% book with DHWW, you won't regret it. read more

We went back in September. They had the option to pick up from their office or the KOA. We stayed at the KOA so having the pickup from there was super convenient. We both got the wetsuits, which I would 100% recommend if you get cold easily. You load up on the bus (socially distanced and masked up) and take about a 20-30 minute bus ride to the launch site. Our guide was awesome! Super knowledgeable, funny, and conversational. The views were beautiful!! We unfortunately came when the water levels were low so we did not have too many rapids. There were a few rapids but most of the trip was like a scenic boat ride. We had a really great time, just wished for more rapids. read more

We had the best time on 7/9/19 doing the 10:45 whitewater rafting trip. Being from hot CA, we rented wetsuits and booties being the water was going to be chilly (for us). John drove our bus to the river drop off/entry point-nice ride. Eric was our raft guide who was funny and entertaining during our trip. He provided river and local info to us all. My wife and I were on vacation in Jackson hole Wyoming. To go see Yellowstone's in the Local surroundings. As we rolled into town we noticed Dave Hansen's river raft. I went inside to ask him several question about the tour as my wife is handicap. They came outside and talk to my wife and after a couple questions. My wife was very happy and pleased with there answers. Needless to say we booked a tour. We were supposed to take the tour on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. But due to it raining all day that day they canceled all the tours. They were willing to give us a full refund no questions asked due to the weather. But we decided to rebook and schedule for the next day. The 8 o'clock tour. Needless to say we had a blast. My wife had an easy time getting in and out of the boat. Our tour guide was awesome. He had been in the business for over 14 years doing tours in rapid tours. On the snake river. He had a vast knowledge of the local surroundings and pointing out the wildlife we have seen moose 10 to 15 bald eagles cattle and other things along with Beaver lodges. I highly recommend this tour for anybody coming in to Jackson hole and wanting to have an adventure And memories you'll never forget. I tip my hat off to Dave Hansen and company. We went on both the scenic and the whitewater trips. The guides are friendly and everyone who works there seems to know what they are doing. We hadn't packed appropriately and were anxious, and the staff was laid back and reassuring. I recommend doing a little more research and preparation ahead of time, but we still had fun. I suggest talking to someone in the store before actually going, so you would know things like you could bring a chance of clothes with you to put on after the whitewater. The whitewater itself was exciting enough to satisfy the people who had done this before, without being too rough for us tender foots. The scenic was relaxing seems pretty, but we went at the wrong time of year to see much wildlife. I also recommend sunscreen. read more

They were very informative on the phone explaining everything from the different trips they had to offer to skill levels etc. we even received a discount t because brushback tours referred us. With six kids and four adults (2 being grandparents ) I was nervous ... But our guide Dan explained everything and we had a blast. Truly the highlight for all of us on our Yellowstone vacation. We had a fantastic trip down the rapids with our guide, Billy. Billy was awesome -very bright, informative and funny. We couldn't have asked for a better guide and he really made the trip a blast. Though the rapids are only 2s and 3s, it was still a great time. We saw plenty of bald eagles and other animals, got soaking wet, and paddled our butts off. One caveat - we took our trip in the morning and it was COLD. Though the company offered wetsuits, it didn't really recommend them and said we should be fine. If you are going rafting in the morning, i highly recommend renting a wetsuit. Dave Hansen, please be more aware of pushing customers to rent wetsuits as it does get cold out there, especially when the sun is not out. read more

Booked a small boat whitewater raft trip more than a month ago. When I called 48 hours prior to confirm the trip as per their request... Was told only doing big boat rafting now due to COVID. Very disappointing after having driven more than a 1000 miles to do the small boat rafting trip. If they had told me when I booked the trip, I would have been able to make other arrangements to do a small boat rafting trip. But now I cannot. Makes no sense as well...they said only doing large boat rafting due to social distancing which makes no sense as putting more people together in a big boat is MORE RISKY FOR COVID than a single family in a small boat. Guessing the big boat plan had been in place for a while, which makes it more disappointing they didn't inform me. Paid more for the small boat ride for a reason. Please be aware. Plusses: Great river ride on solid, well appointed raft. The guide, Jack, was very good. Safety conscious without being too serious. Friendly and informative. Minuses: The ride to the put-in site was in a VERY old school bus-bumpy, windy, uncomfortable, & no seat belts. The other minus was the surprise: long (1/2 mile range) walk to the bus at the end of the rafting adventure. I am due for hip surgery and that walk was NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE. No alternative to the walk to the bus was offered, nor did we get any sort of heads up about the length of the required walk. read more

We went on an excursion level 2-3, small boat with 8 total, with Roger in mid June. It was a GREAT experience. We had experienced paddlers and novices (tweens). We ALL had a wonderful time. We all got wet, but we all had wetsuits on, so not chilled. read more

Our experience was wonderful from the time we arrived at the check-in counter to the moment we got on the bus with our driver, Gene, to our fun-packed ride down the Snake River with Callie. We laughed and made awesome memories on a beautiful morning excursion. We were hesitant with the 8am start, but the wetsuits made the wet ride pleasant on a cool morning. We only did the 1.5 hour whitewater trip but it was a fantastic 90 minutes. We also had a very nice picnic lunch provided by the company back at the KOA. Our guide Keith was entertaining and engaging. $300 for 4 people, so a bit on the expensive side, but we say bald eagles and other wildlife and the children had a blast. Logistically it takes forever to get out and back to the rafting site about one hour each way with loading people on the bus. However once you are there, the guide is good and the rafting is fun and not to extreme even for a first timer like me. One tip is if you don't want to get soaked sit near the back where the guide will be. Otherwise get blasted with snake river water in the front. read more

Great experience with Dave Hansen Whitewater today. We had Bryson as our guide and he was great. The river was the highest it had been in 13 years (and even increasing by the hour). The water ran fast and the rapids were ever changing due to the recent land slide. I felt in good hands with Bryson leading us down the river. We also had Carson and Carston (I think those were their names - but they were also known as "Wookie") riding alongside us in kayaks for safety. I've never had a company run kayaks alongside the boat just in case people fell out of the raft. I thought it was great considering the river was so high. Overall, I highly recommend Dave Hansen's if you are visiting Jackson and want a trip down the Snake River. read more

Awesome trip!!! We are a family of 8 and chose the 13 mile scenic float. It did not disappoint. Out guide, Ian, was friendly, funny and very informative about the surrounding mountain peeks and the animals we saw. We were so happy to see four beautiful Eagles and a nest. We did the 13 mile Scenic rafting trip down the snake river. It was fun, scenic, and educational. Our tour guide was Mackenzie- she was funny, personable, and educated. She made it fun for everyone and did a great job navigating us by rowing down the river, and keeping us inside the raft. If you want a nice experience, I recommend this company. Mackenzie also gave us advice on what else to do in Jackson and around the town. The other staff members were also friendly and helpful. I am glad we did this last minute excursion! read more

The bus drivers, George, was amazing. He was smart, personable, and funny. He provided information and history on the local area and wildlife. He took the time to stop and let us take pictures at a really nice scenic overlook of the snake river. We enjoyed the drive to and from just as much as we enjoyed the rafting! I took the 16 Mile Continuous Combo Trip with my 9 year old son and 11 year old daughter last July and we had a great trip. Everyone at Dave hansen was wonderful. We used the wet suits as we started early in the morning and our guide was able to spot all the wildlife my kids could not find. The white water portion was great and exciting. The guide took us down the middle of the rapids and my kids and I had a wonderful time.
