I came here years ago on a trip to the keys and always remember it because I was intrigued by all the goodies in the market. I wasn't big on Yelp back then so I'm not sure if I left a raving review (looks like I just had a Mexican salad anyways) but on this visit, we saw that here was a new menu that rolled out a couple days ago on Valentine's Day. Fill'Er-Up! On our first morning in Key West, we found this cute cafe/health food store on our way back from having cuban coffee at The Cuban Coffee Queen. They are located far enough off the main drag (Duvall Street) in a building that used to house a gas station. I really liked that they've switched the karma of this space with such a healthful business. Inside had a lot of plant based products we rely on when traveling. We placed our food order at the counter/cash register, and picked up a few pre-made salads from their grab-n-go case. The ladies working were super sweet, and gave us a list of other vegan places to try out on the island. Super good vibes. We took a seat outside on the patio and waited for them to call our order. There isn't a lot of seating, especially ones in the shade, but it's very relaxed and peaceful. We had: Breakfast Bagel  $9.95 Sliced tomato, red onion, avocado, sprouts, vegan mayo and house vinaigrette on a toasted whole grain bagel. We veganized it with substituting eggs for their in house marinated tempeh. This was so delicious! They make their own bagels, and they are otherworldly. Kale Caesar Salad $12.50 Kale in a creamy vegan dressing, with hempseed 'parmesan', wheat free croutons, and spicy pumpkin seeds. Delicious and healthy. Key Lime Pie Smoothie $10.95 Banana, spinach, dates, lime, hemp seeds, and vanilla blended with our house-made coconut milk This was refreshing and helped with my semi hangover from the night out on Duval. This is the best kale salad I've ever had. I will definitely try to replicate it at home to incorporate more kale into my diet. Everyone that works here are so nice and happy, making it a very pleasant place to be. I came an hour after the kitchen had closed and was bummed as I really wanted a smoothie with my salad. The guy that works in the kitchen I'm guessing said he'd make it for me still after hearing how bummed I was. People that go out of their way are rare now a days. This was such a disappointment. I had been excited to check this out because the menu had a lot of vegan options. I went over for lunch and ordered a tempeh sandwich. The paper menus at my hotel had listed this as an item. The staff told me that they no longer have a tempeh wrap but that I could pick another wrap and swap meat for tempeh. I did this with a chicken wrap. It said very clearly on the menu you could make wrap vegan by subbing tempeh. I walked back to my hotel only to realize they had made me a chicken wrap. This was really upsetting- not just because my order was made wrong and I had to walk back- but upsetting to see meat when I'm vegan and to see animal meat, knowing I almost bit into it. The staff re made my sandwich and apologized for the error- but mostly in a way of- we made the order wrong. No acknowledgment that a vegan meal was made with meat. They are supposed to be a vegan friendly shop. There was no offer to refund me or offer a free item- which would have gone along way with customer service. Additionally the tempeh was very salty and the wrap disappointing. I spent $45 between the wrap, a smoothie, & a vegan cookie & 2 vegan caramels. I also had spent $17 the day before on an iced coffee drink and some candied ginger. My partner had also bought a smoothie the day before. I say this only to name I had frequented this store multiple times and expected the mistake to be handled with more care. read more

Holy cow! This is a gem! First, what we wish we knew up front is that you don't have to search for parking, they have a small lot right in front! They have a great system for COVID-19, look for the green light outside the door to indicate if there are more than two folks inside. So physical distancing is taken very seriously here! They provide hand sanitizers, staff wear masks, and they enforce mask wearing by ordinance. The staff were all super friendly and patient as we deliberated what to order. We ordered the breakfast bagel and avocado toast. Neither of these dishes disappointed us at all! We LOVED them! We stopped here on our day in Key West after searching Yelp for some healthy vegan lunch options and Date & Thyme delivered. Nice cozy little health food market with a kitchen attached for light lunch items and some intense-looking smoothies and acai bowls. Good selection of groceries inside, including a small but well-stocked fresh produce and frozen section. Couldn't decide between the Island Burrito and the Black Bean Burger but then the Island Burrito ($11.95) has the black bean burger inside it (!!) so we went with two of those for us and the PB&J for the kids. It was a house-made black bean patty with brown rice, salsa, avocado, cilantro, jalapeño, and greens, with spicy vegan mayo, in a whole wheat wrap - and it was packed full of those delicious ingredients. It was perfect and light but satisfying on a hot day in KW. Our kids loved their PB&Js on whole grain bread ($5.95) and gobbled them up. Ice water available at the counter in happy stainless steel cups. Some outdoor seating all under shading but still ends up being really hot out there. Lots of people grabbed theirs to-go. It's cute but the tables are like coffee tables (i.e. not easy for kids if you're looking for that). Bus your own dishes. Was super stoked to find a health food store cum cafe. I was in need of a smoothie to cool down and also get some nourishment before dinner. Date and thyme was the answer. I ordered the mocha smoothie and my husband had the tropical green smoothie. The mocha smoothie is a blend of banana, mocha, vegan protein powder and cocoa powder. The green smoothie was a blend of cilantro, mango, banana and a few other ingredients. We visited the place at 5 so they were only selling smoothies at that point. Their bowls look really good and I am hoping to stop by before I leave the island. Their outside seating is also very quaint and green. How can you not want something as refreshing as an açaí bowl while in the most humid and tropical climate of your life? Date & Thyme was there for us. (However I will say it was a bit disappointing that I had to find them via google because Yelp was only recommending one place in all of Key West, so keep that in mind!) We both went with the standard açaí bowl. We could tell the ingredients were organic, fresh, and made with good intention - but they were just a biiiit watery; the consistency could've been a bit more like a smoothie in my opinion! Nonetheless we thoroughly enjoyed them and ate it all on their very serene patio, under shade and in the company of succulents and colorful plants growing everywhere. Probably the only Vegetarian/Vegan place in Key West. Its pretty close to the Duval street, where all the action is! Its a decent looking cafe with a bunch of health food options. They have a wide variety of juices and smoothies. It had a friendly vibe to it. We ordered the pesto wrap and black bean burger which came with some chips and slaw. It tasted good and had some vegan spicy mayo in it. Chips were multigrain and slaw was good as well. I would have loved some french fries instead, but they don't have a frier. Overall, pretty decent burger. For the pesto wrap, they recommended I add the cashew cream cheese to the pesto wrap, made all the difference I think. It was really cold wrap. I am not a big fan of cold food in general. So I started out with not being a fan, but that changed quickly. I really enjoyed the wrap. I could even taste the pine nuts. The avocado also helped with the moisture in the wrap and the cashew cream cheese was super delicious. I am glad to have tried something outside of my comfort zone and loving it. They have their own parking. The only place we found that had customer parking. Definitely check this place out and dare to try the things you normally wouldn't. It won't disappoint. read more

We were told a bagel sandwich could be gluten free with just a slight chance of some cross contamination. My sister is usually not sensitive enough to become so sick from cross contamination but she started throwing up as soon as we got home. Called and inquired about the sandwich and what could have gotten her sick and they were rude and unhelpful. No apologies and no offer to help. Went in person as well because I was so worried about what happened and they showed me the bagel they used and it explicitly said contains wheat. They gave me no empathy and almost seemed mad at for being upset. No one said anything about that and even checked with us at the register if it was an allergy when we ordered but failed to tell us the bagel contained wheat. This place is a vegan dream. On the first trip I had the Sunrise Bagel with cashew cream cheese, avocado, and tomato slices. That was really filling and tasty. On the second morning I had a Tempeh Wrap with salsa, greens, avocado, and tempeh. That thing was so flavorful!! I love that these folks are environmentally friendly. They have compostable dinnerware if you need to take items to go. More businesses should take a "leaf" out of their book. I would be at this place 7 days a week if I lived in Key West. read more
