a bowl of soup and a bowl of rice

Value for the dollar is especially great to find. That's what offered here at this all around classic Chinese BBQ. We ordered their 3 item special, served with bbq pork, fried marinated tofu and lap cheong with veggies. The combo included a bowl of imitation sharks fin soup. All inclusive for $12.50. Most bbq rice combo plates are $12.50 - $14 with very generous portions. Local business. Cash Only.

Food is good! Green onion ginger oil is $1 unless you are frequent customer like the lady in front of us. We bought the 2 items BBQ lunchbox, one lb of BBQ pork, and one chicken leg. They are all good and will recommend.

My sister and I were waiting for HK bbq to open and once it opened, we decided to go there but it was closed because the bbq meats there were sold out )): We then decided to look for somewhere else and we found this hidden gem at Yaohan Centre. I ordered the 3 meat bbq combo with cha siu, soya chicken, and bbq duck for $12 to share with my sister. The flavors from their bbq were definitely dominant and smoky in a good way. It complimented the rice and the cabbage perfectly with the sauce from their meats and it definitely kept us full.

Most expensive BBQ on earth. It tastes like garbage

There is no point in coming to this food court now that the Korean place closed next door. What a shame Oh and Datang BBQ express is terrible in every which way. Do not visit

This was the worst duck I've ever eaten. Tastes really bad. The BBQ meat is dry/thin and the duck is full of sharp bones to gnaw on. They serve 20% meat and 80% rice drizzled in watered down soy sauce. I'd give 0 stars if I could.

Datang is located in the food court of Yaohan Centre, re-opened under new owners couple months ago. I tried out their lunch today and it is awesome. Friendly service, reasonably priced and their BBQs are delicious. I think I'd be a regular from now on.

I was never a big fan of Chinese BBQ until I went to this place. I've always thought Chinese BBQ is a bit boring except for Peking Duck. This place change all that. Despite the upside down duck, the chicken and the pig, I was mesmerized and curious about what these meat tasted like in my belly. I guess I was just hungry but I went in all the way. Service- employees were really nice but they gave too much rice. If you dare not to be fat, request that they only give you half of rice. There are lots of meaty combo. We opted for the pork bbq and duck. I added marinated duck egg for the win! The verdict: At $10 Canadian, I had one of the most memorable meal in Richmond! The pork belly was a total knock out! The skin was crispy, the pork was succulent and flavorful. The duck was the runner up. It was also delicious. The marinated duck egg is pretty much a boiled egg, shell was cracked and soaked on soy sauce concoction. Surprisingly, the bok choy didn't choke me. If you're Asian, you must have had a beef with the Choy's particularly with Bok. You order all of these with the sauce and savor it at the food court.

Yummy BBQ Meats! Datang BBQ Express is located in Yaohan Centre. One would not expect great BBQ to come out of a vendor in a food court, but Datang has definitely defied that notion! I'm quite familiar with the BBQ shops in Richmond, and I have to say, Datang is definitely up to par! It's pretty impressive considering that it's located in food court. I ordered the BBQ duck and the marinated pork ribs and the portion size was just right! Both were delicious! The BBQ duck was tender, and the skin was flavourful and juicy. The pork ribs had been marinated very well, and had a deep, smokey flavour. The rice was long grain rice, which is my favourite! If you ask, they'll also drizzle some of the delicious sweet BBQ sauce on your rice! I'll definitely be back!

I arrived early, but, had no idea where they were located. I strolled through the food court and couldn't find them. After asking for directions, I was pointed in the right direction until I saw the line or queue as they say in Vancouver. They are both a meat market and a Cantonese BBQ shop. It is not a restaurant, though there are tables and chairs outside by the food court. Service was typical Cantonese. Order, pay, and get out. We ordered a roast pork rice and a roast duck rice. The portion size was larger than what I can get in the 626. It seemed like a good value for the price. It wasn't cheap. Both the roast pork and roast duck were flavorful. It was a good experience coming here and trying them out.

There's always a line, but it moves fast. All of their meats are juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked -- I'd recommend starting with the roast pork and roast duck. Roast Pork -- thin, perfectly crispy skin; well seasoned and not overly salty BBQ Pork (Char Siu) -- moist, tender, freshly sliced; lean with just the right touch of sweetness Roast Duck -- juicy with a crisp skin, carved fresh off the roast Service is quick and friendly. We ordered the half roast pork & half duck with rice, and the half roast pork & half BBQ pork with rice -- both excellent choices. The savory juices from the meats blend beautifully with the plain white rice, creating a simple but deeply satisfying bite. It's takeout-only, but there's plenty of seating around the bustling Parker Place mall to enjoy your hearty roast lunch.

We asked a staff, and sadly I did not get the birthday person gets to eat free choice. There's a 2-HOUR eating limit, otherwise there's a cost charge for any leftovers. Food-wise, I really liked the differently priced tiers with each tier offering an amazing variety of options. My 3 friends and I agreed on *DELUXE TIER* for $39.85 per person, and it includes all of the food options below its tier which is classic tier for $28.85. All of the beef belly choices had amazing flavour when grilled over charcoal stove, and honestly it was probably my most favourite item on the menu. The chicken wings were on the smaller side but it still packs great flavour somehow. And the 'cold noodle with soup' had excellent flavour as well but it's a hefty bowl so it's better to save your stomach space for just meat only instead of carbs. The downside of my experience is the open bar which you can find in the middle of the restaurant. Its options was pretty lackluster and after circling the options at the open bar twice, I ended up NOT grabbing anything for the counter. Maybe they will change it up in the future, but at the present time I was a customer there, I did not like any of the choices on the open bar. Picture will be attached with caption. Overall, would I come back to Jin Tan Grill House? Yes. I would like to try their top tier called *SUPREME* for $68.85. For the choices supreme tier offers, I hope it's worth it in my future visit. For now, the *Deluxe* tier option was excellent but I might consider just coming here alone or with 1 or 2 friends next time because it is pretty expensive. Definitely recommended.

Every item we ordered was well prepared and true to the HK flavors you'd expect -- nothing overly salty or greasy, just balanced and satisfying. We tried half a BBQ duck and the three-meat combo with rice, and both were excellent. The staff were friendly and courteous, and I especially appreciated how generous they were with sauces -- a small detail that goes a long way. If there's one area for improvement, it would be the food temperature. Nothing came out piping hot, which left me wondering if the dishes had been sitting out for a bit -- or perhaps the restaurant just doesn't see as much volume during off-peak hours. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but hotter plates would elevate the experience. Pricing was very reasonable, especially with their ongoing specials, making it an easy choice for a casual meal that delivers on flavor and value. Despite the quiet setting, Yummy BBQ deserves more attention -- it's a solid spot for classic HK BBQ done right.

Prime kalbi short rib was our favorite, although yaki shabu was a close second. The shoyu chicken thighs were also delicious. I would definitely order the garlic chicken noodles again! The beef tongue is also not as tender as I remember it being in the past. The herb and garlic butter for the broccoli was a solid flavor enhancer. Title: Mechanical Failures & Poor Management: A Disappointing Mother's Day…read moreRating: 0 stars if I could I am writing this from the perspective of someone who works in the customer service industry, and I was deeply disappointed by the lack of leadership and care displayed at Gyu-Kaku Richmond this Mother's Day. What was meant to be a special celebration turned into a frustrating, two-hour ordeal. After ordering the most expensive Mother's Day set and premium drinks, our grill failed to stay lit. After four failed attempts to fix it, we were moved to a second table, only for that grill to have the exact same issue. ### The Service Breakdown: Lack of Proactive Management: We had to move three times and wait over an hour for a working grill. During this entire time, not once did a manager approach us to apologize or explain the situation. The "Chase": I had to ask for a manager twice before one finally appeared. In a high-caliber chain like this, management should be at the table the moment a second move is required, if not sooner. The Final Straw: To top off a comedy of errors, a server dropped a large bowl of RED SAUCE while cleaning, splashing it all over us. I believe restaurants are technically liable to pay for cleaning in such a case but nothing was offered. The Recovery (or lack thereof): While the floor staff seemed to be trying their best, the management was practically invisible. We were eventually given 50% off, but only after we had to awkwardly advocate for ourselves. At other establishments of this caliber (like The Keg), a disaster of this scale--on a holiday no less--would usually result in a fully comped meal and a sincere effort to save the guest's experience. Instead, we were treated like an inconvenience. Bottom Line: The food is fine, but the management here doesn't understand the basics of service recovery. If you're looking for a stress-free special occasion, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

I hear good things about The Meat Up so came for their AYCE lunch…read more As this was out first time; the server was very patient in explaining which menu we should select and how the process works. There are different tiers for the AYCE, we just selected the Classic ($36.99/person, Mon-Thur all day; Fri-Sat 11am-4pm). For the hot pot, we just go up to the open refrigeration and select our meats and vegetables, and place in the metal pot. We bring the metal pot to the bar/front counter and select a choice of soup. I tried the bone broth (which was just ok) and the tom yum (which was good). The hot pot would be delivered to our table when done. Note, for those we don't want the BBQ meats, they do have a "Magic Pot Special" (Mon-Fri, 11am-4pm) for $25.99/person. For the BBQ meats, we select from our choices and was brought to our table cooked and placed on the hot plate to keep warm. The chicken and beef were excellent and not dry. Salads and other cooked food at the front counter also included. There is free parking out front. The décor is from the old ACB restaurant which brought fond memories from 30 years ago! I was told that the AYCE feature is recent (as of the time of writing) for this chain. Can't comment on the past, but I feel I walked out of there a better person. But first things first. Parking is available around the building, but only in certain sections of the surrounding lot. Pay careful attention to the diagram by the front door. The place has a funky interior, with colourful LED signs. Makes for a bit of a nightclub feel. Staff were friendly and helpful, which was nice, as it was my 1st time here. As of the time of writing, I think they have fully switched to AYCE now. There is the hot pot only option, and a skewer upgrade. Get the skewer upgrade. The cows and lambs will thank you. Just from this alone, it is very easy to eat one's money's worth when compared to the competition. The AYCE includes a drink of choice, as well as a small ice cream at the end. The hot pot section is very decent. Grab a pot and tongs, and fill up the pot with goodies. Pick a soup base, and they cook it for you and bring it to your table. I really like how the pots are rather shallow, so that there isn't too much (liquid) soup. I tried several flavours and everything was good. The skewers though. Oh wow. I don't know how many animals my buddy and I burned through. We were double fisting and tearing them animals to shreds. Talk about pure bliss. Everything was fresh and delicious. Honestly if I had to pick a last meal, this place would definitely be a candidate. With great reverence, I highly recommend.
