Grand opening on Jan 24, 2026 - third location in YVR

Cheers to another Cantonese foods shop opening in the Burnaby's Metrotown area -- which is already a popular food hub for a variety of Asian foods. Roast Goose King (RGK) was originally founded in Guangzhou 30 years ago and brought their Cantonese BBQ specialty to its first Vancouver location on Victoria Drive, around 2019. This RGK shop has an entrance outside of Crystal Mall, on the same side as Horin Ramen and shares the underground parkade in Crystal Mall with an inside shop entrance from Crystal Mall. It is located close to Kingsway and Willingdon and accessible via transit as well. The new Burnaby location is definitely a huge win for those who are already a RGK fan and lives close to Crystal Mall. Personally, I prefer duck over goose so I didn't line up for their grand opening giveaways. I mostly shop at RGK for the specialty "Lai Fen" 瀨粉, a type of Guangdong style rice noodles that are famously paired with roast goose -- creating the dish well known as "燒鵝瀨粉" (Roast Goose with rice pasta). I especially like the "Lai Fen" noodle texture and use it to make my own version of soup noodles. These Guangdong style rice noodles are naturally gluten free and works well for vegan-friendly plus vegetarian meals too. This place has a few small tables but shop felt quite crowded so this spot seems best suited for takeout orders rather for dining in. Or I would recommend taking your items to eat at Crystal Mall Food Court and opt for restaurants nearby if you would like a place to sit down and enjoy a meal. I already have my own preferred places in Vancouver for buying bbq pork (char siu) tho I should mention RGK also carries various popular Cantonese cooked food items such as bbq pork/char siu and soy sauce chicken. Note: Service is likely slower during its busy opening weeks (our wait was around 25+ minutes) but a visit could be worthwhile for folks who enjoy exploring and chasing Cantonese foods!

I've been here 3 times now. I love barbecue duck. I've ordered it 3 times here. The first 2 times it was excellent, good flavor and nice crispy skin. The last time I bought it it was horrible, didn't taste fresh (almost like it was a day old) no flavor and soft mushy skin. The service all 3 times was very friendly. The price for the duck was pretty good. There is pay parking out front, Not sure if I'm gonna give it another try but we'll see...........

Tried more of their dinner items. The sliced beef in sour soup is super tasty. Wow. Not sure what…read morekind of crack they put in it. Nice peppery kick. Plenty of beef slices and enoki mushroom. I really have to recommend this dish. Also had a pile of their skewers. Taiwanese sausage, chicken gizzard, and 2 flavours of wings. Not the cheapest, but similar in pricing to the competition. Everything got gobbled up. Delicious. Honestly I wish more people knew about this place. I think the only thing stopping them is the rather "bad" (not too visible) location. The 5 star rating for dinner remains.

The second time there were clams and lamb neck? The things that were the same: tomato egg, dumplings, steamed baos, chineze fried donut, and cold dishes like bean sprouts, smashed cucumbers, tea egg, tofu dessert. They also have hot soy milk for drinks. Their deep fried chinese donut has got to be the best I've ever had in my life. With the price of a pair of fried donut being over $6 these days, I get my fix here. Other things are standard, good but not outstanding. I really like having soy milk to drink instead of water. $18.88 is getting a little steep for a limited choice buffet with not too many meat choices. The crab/clam are a nice addition but if there are days without it, it wouldn't be worth. I would rate the food from this place higher than the similar chinese lunch box style place in richmond, K squared mansion.

No frills and worth the hype!…read more Our family of six arrived at 12 pm on a Tuesday. We waited approximately 25 minutes which is not bad at all considering how popular this small restaurant is. My mom is vegetarian and my girls had a wonton noodle soup lunch at another spot down the street. So we ordered a few things mainly for my dad, husband and myself: 1) Platter with barbecue pork and chicken (雙拼叉燒香油雞) 2) Half-order of roast duck (半隻脆皮燒鴨) 3) late of roast pork (燒肉) 4) Bowl of rice (一碗米飯) We cleared everything. The meats were juicy, tender, and flavorful. My girls are usually indifferent to Cantonese barbecued meats but they tried it and enjoyed everything as well. This is definitely a place to repeat if and when we revisit Vancouver.

They ran out of duck but do not fret because the soya chicken is where it's at. The soya chicken is incredibly tender, even the breast meat is tender. Secondly, it's perfectly marinated and if you dab a little of their homemade soy sauce, it's even better. Eat this with rice and you'll never want another meal in your life. This was easily our favorite dish for the place. Bbq pork and crispy pork are both spot on as well. They give generous and juicy cuts and the crispy pork is, well, crispy. The skin is a nice crunch and the meat is juicy, what more could you ask for? I still salivate and dream of the meat here and I wish we had something like this back in LA cause I don't know who else would make soy chicken as good as here. Cash only so come prepared! If you're a US tourist, they take USD as well but canadian is still the better deal.

Every item we ordered was well prepared and true to the HK flavors you'd expect -- nothing overly salty or greasy, just balanced and satisfying. We tried half a BBQ duck and the three-meat combo with rice, and both were excellent. The staff were friendly and courteous, and I especially appreciated how generous they were with sauces -- a small detail that goes a long way. If there's one area for improvement, it would be the food temperature. Nothing came out piping hot, which left me wondering if the dishes had been sitting out for a bit -- or perhaps the restaurant just doesn't see as much volume during off-peak hours. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but hotter plates would elevate the experience. Pricing was very reasonable, especially with their ongoing specials, making it an easy choice for a casual meal that delivers on flavor and value. Despite the quiet setting, Yummy BBQ deserves more attention -- it's a solid spot for classic HK BBQ done right.

I didn't pick the cheapest choice on the menu and instead I ordered the roast duck leg as my dinner. The place is not very large, I guess they target to serve more take out orders. The staff members are welcoming. The vibe is very similar to those in HK. The roasted duck leg is very delicious and juicy. Though it's already close to the end of the business hours but it was still tasty with the plum sauce. Portion is large. Definitely I will try their BbQ pork and chicken in my next visit! I'm really satisfied!
