Secure Data Recovery provided excellent service in a timely manner. Looking through the website, I…read morewas not sure if this company handled personal or individual cases of data recovery, but I can say from personal experience that they definitely do! I had a 1TB external hard drive nearly full of documents and photos from high school, college, and beyond which was already a consolidation of older hard drives. One day, it suddenly stopped working. I took it into a local store but was told that I needed professional physical data recovery services. I called Secure Data Recovery Services and was helped right away. I sent my hard drive off that afternoon, dropping it off with a local branch office in Richmond, VA. After some diagnostics were run, I was given a call a few days later with more details, and we proceeded with the data recovery process. In just a little over two weeks from start to finish, I received a new external hard drive express-mailed back to me with essentially all of my data recovered! Throughout the process, I received frequent updates from Chris McMacken, the representative assigned to my case. I was very satisfied with the service provided by Secure Data Recovery Services. As a medical student, I am extremely busy, but this entire process was smooth and painless. My data was recovered in a timely manner with excellent customer service to boot. I highly recommend this company for any individual or business consumer needing professional data recovery services.

After reading reviews of various data recovery companies, I decided to go with Secure Data Recovery. They seemed to have the most secure process. I actually spent more time dithering over which company to use than it too SDRS to recover my data. I have not yet received the external hard drive with my data on it, but I trust it will be as represented. You get to review a directory of the recovered data and what I needed was on that directory. Once you contact Secure Data, you are assigned a representative. Mine was Chris McMacken. At first I thought the process of having to deal with an one representative was a bit cumbersome. Chris is on the West coast and I am on the East. However, by the end of the process, I was comforted by having a live person, who was following my case. Chris was a great help. The service isn't cheap, but it is a necessary expense. It is good to know there are companies who can do this. Eventually all hard drives crash. I allowed myself to be lulled into complacency, thinking my backup program was doing all it should. Now, as part of the recovery I will have another external hard drive (with my old data on it). I can use it to create a redundant system and back up alternating on two externals.

Full disclosure, I'm personally a MacOS human, but I have clients who are wedded to PCs, so I need to stay clued in on places that do PC repairs. These guys are top-notch, and pretty darn fast. I haven't seen them tackle a motherboard repair (yet), but I'm betting they'd be up to it. On diagnosis and repair of a variety of desktop and laptop PCs, I've seen them deliver on time, fully in-service, and at a fair price. If you're a PC, this is your repair spot in RVA.

The selection of products that they carry is massive for a local shop, although at a premium. For one, the carried models are significantly more expensive; I suppose that beats paying overnight shipping from Newegg slightly. I watched a salesperson upsell a $65 PSU to an uneccessary $99 Thermaltake because "it was more reliable". Errr... no it's not, but I need it today so take my money. Heaven forbid you need to return a product, you'll get a 10% restocking fee and a scathing 15 minute lecture about how they are going to do away with the return policy and basically why you are an idiot. I get it. You are losing a little bit of money today to keep a lifetime customer. That's how the retail industry works. The customer service is disappointing, which surprised me given the seemingly positive reviews. On 3 seperate occasions I've interacted with the owner and his son. They seemed to give me attitude until they figured out I actually knew what I was talking about. On 2 seperate occasions, I had recommended my mother to go pick up a part so I could work on her computer... they were actually MORE rude to her. Not cool. I'd love to chalk it up to bad luck, given all of the seemingly positive reviews on here.... which seems suspect, given my string of bad experiences. These guys are IT competent enough, but at the cost of money and attitude. I'd try another place, even big box, first.
