New to going to Das Stein Haus. We went to the bar to eat. The gal that served us was very sweet and helpful. I had the Apple brandy schnitzel, fried potatoes and red sauerkraut and it was awesome and the husband had the Bratwurst combo, the homemade pasta with gravy was super good, 3 different kinds of german sausages, and a schnitzel. We hit up a lot of new places to eat and we're averaging about 25% good quality food, this place hit it inside the 25%. Highly recommended. read more

I'm German and been to Germany a few times to visit relatives. My wife has also visited Germany, so we know what German food is supposed to taste like. The food is not only better here than anything we've tried at Leavenworth, it's also much better priced. It's easily the best German food I've had since I was a kid growing up. I've known about this place for nearly a decade but always thought it was too far from the Valley - now my whole family is kicking ourselves for not coming sooner. It is always an absolute family feast when we visit the Haus! And today we tried a few different items that we liked very much. We are a share-a-bite family, and that may horrify some folks, but we eat our way lol. But I was boring, and ordered what I always order, Jaeger Schnitzel. I just adore their gravy. What was really neat, was some visitors at the table right by us were visiting from Austria, and they genuinely like their lunch items, mentioning it was a great representation of German fare so far away from Europe. My husband and I went for restaurant week. We chose a beef and pork entree. Both disappointing. Our entrees were not hot though the plate was. My mashed potatoes were instant. Both entrees were void of flavor. Our desert martini was like like drinking pure alcohol! We asked for a receipt and noticed a surcharge for using a credit card at 3 %. Delivered a custom poker table and stayed a extra night at the Spokane Tribes casino and was crazing German food, popped on Yelp and sure enough, another great recommendation! My husband and I went for a quick lunch date today. The restaurant is well maintained and had a very cozy ambiance. We loved the food especially the black Forrest cake and the Rueben sandwich. My husband had the schnitzle sandwich on the pretzel bun. It said it was also excellent. Our server was amazing also. I went to a bar that wasn't busy, waited 15 minutes for the server to arrive, then waited another 20 minutes for our second round of drinks, which never came until we inquired again. A friend pointed out they were open for breakfast and we decided to give it a shot. I'd never had an off meal here at supper time and breakfast was no different. I had the jager schnitzel breakfast that comes with German potato pancakes and toast. It was delicious in every way. A very hearty meal that left me avoiding lunch, but in a good way. Service was awesome and friendly. The restaurant was clean as usual. We visited Das Stein Haus on a weekday evening. When we arrived the dining room was empty but we were promptly greeted and shown to our table. Looking over their menu they had a selection of traditional German food (schnitzel, spaetzle etc.) Based on Yelp reviews I order the Jager Schnitzel and was not disappointed. The schnitzel itself was crisp and delicious. The sauce on it was equally delicious but for me the star of the show was the sauerkraut. We also ordered some German beers that were very enjoyable. The waitstaff was pleasant, the decor inviting and the food was delicious. I will definitely be returning if I'm ever in the area again. German food in Spokane? There was nothing in my travel guide about a strong historical German influence on Spokane, trust me, I checked! Well, no time to waste. I loaded the family and headed to Das Stein Haus. Taking up space in unexceptional strip mall, Das Stein Haus is a wonderful treat. Lot's of fun decorations adorn the walls to help transport you to Deutschland. Our server was super sweet and very familiar with the menu and beer list. They had nine German beers on tap and offered a flight of all so we could sample. The menu was packed with all the German favorites and schnitzel's of all types. Everything we ordered was fantastic. Went here with some friends that had been here before. They said it was great German food, I heard that before with German only to be disappointed. I lived in Germany for 4 years so my bad is high. We had a pretzel for an appetizer. It was very good. Make sure to ask for the mustard. Several in my party got Dragon Beer which they said was good. Another got the Paulner which he said was good as well. They have about 12 different German beers. Dinner came with a salad, red cabbage or sauerkraut and spatzle or potato. For dinner I had the Jager schnitzel. The schnitzel itself was BIG, I couldn't finish it. The gravy was good and well seasoned. The gravy had onions and mushrooms. Anyone who knows the veggies vary in Jager. The schnitzel itself was lightly breaded and the pork was tender. All in my party had the Jager schnitzel except one he had the brat platter which he reported was good They also had the choice or several desserts but as didn't finish dinner no dessert. We had a half hour to kill so we popped into the bar for a drink. The (pre-occupied) server said they couldn't pour a German beer in anything less than a 22oz glass. Nothing less. We should have left but my husband went ahead and ordered one. Unless you're going to chug it, it was a waste and my husband left over half of it. Since it's *on tap*, they actually *could* have poured it in something smaller and knocked a couple of bucks off. So many places that only do pints (or in this case 22oz) think they'll force you to drink more but it doesn't work that way. And in this bar, they sell double bocks that are heavy and high in alcohol content - a 12oz for sipping would be perfect. Nobody really cares about marketing to sell. read more
