This was my third visit to Daryoush. We were in Walnut Creek to run another errand and decided to stop by for a late lunch or early dinner. As with my previous two visits, the service was very good and professional. We were greeted immediately and seated. The restaurant has a few tables outside in front, while the indoor dining area is long, nicely decorated, and comfortable. The wall decorations are reminiscent of the ancient ruins of Iran's Achaemenid dynasty. Daryoush, after whom the restaurant is named, was one of the most powerful kings of that dynasty more than two millennia ago. We started with Salad-e Shirazi, which literally means "salad from Shiraz," a historic city in Iran. It's made with chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions, dressed with lime juice. I usually add a little olive oil. It hit the spot and whetted our appetites! For our main course, we ordered the Daryoush Plate, which comes with three kabob skewers: filet mignon (Barg), chicken (Jujeh), with a choice of breast or thigh, and ground beef (Koobideh). It also comes with two servings of basmati rice. Since we didn't want to overeat, we substituted a salad for one serving of rice. Even then, when the food arrived, it was a generous amount for two people! The chicken breast kabob was perfect! The other two kabobs were very good, and the rice was just fine. We wrapped up our meal with a couple of cups of Persian tea. After three visits, Daryoush remains a place I enjoy returning to for good Persian food and consistently attentive service.

Great interior, amazing food. The Daryoush for 2 is the perfect plate, my friends and I had the best time here!! Delicious and authentic, definitely a new WC fave

Panir Sabzi- appetizer Beef Kooideh- entree

My buddy and I went there on a lazy Sunday for lunch after our mountain biking excursion at Tilden. We ordered Beef Koobideh dish and shared an appetizer, Panir Sabzi and each of us got the Persian beer, Shams (pilsner and IPA). My buddy is Persian and he goes there with his family for lunch/dinner on occasion. Being my first time, I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The saffron infused Basmati rice was fluffy. Grilled beef was moist and smoky; grilled to perfection. The appetizer was truly refreshing with the fresh herbs and feta cheese. Service was excellent and the meals came out quite quickly. Highly recommend this place if you're interested in Persian cuisine.

It's my first time trying Persian food and Daryoush did not disappoint! We tried the 2 people plate, which was a great deal and offers great variety. Highly recommend the filet mignon (barg kabob). The khoresht fesenjoon (stew with pomegranate sauce) was also wonderful!

Excellent Persian food in Walnut Creek. Had lunch with a good friend earlier this week. We were seated around 12:15 and ordered the combo plate appetizer to munch on while we caught up on life. This was a huge appetizer. It consisted of lavash bread served with three types of dip - hummus, roasted eggplant, and yogurt with chopped cucumbers and mint - and panir (feta cheese) sabzi. After enjoying the app, we decided to share an entrée - the server recommended the Jujeh Soltani, which included one skewer of the tenderest beef koobideh I've ever tasted, and another of jujeh kebab - tender boneless chicken marinated in saffron and lemon juice. Dessert was another winner - some of the best pistachio baklava I've ever had. I was in heaven. Service was good. Bathrooms were clean. There was plenty of street and garage parking available nearby (they don't validate). Will be back!

Vegan beef and vegan chicken koobideh lunch special

recently started a vegetarian diet and randomly remembered that this place offers vegan koobideh, which is honestly unheard of at most Persian restaurants. We came in on a weekday for the lunch special and I was excited to see it was still on the menu. I ordered the vegan beef koobideh and added a vegan chicken koobideh for $5. The lunch special comes with half rice, half salad, plus a drink. I chose the iced tea and it was really refreshing. For an appetizer, I had my must-have mast-o-musir (shallot yogurt). They also bring out butter and half a raw onion, which I always thought was random until I asked my Persian coworker how you're actually supposed to eat it. Turns out the butter is meant to be mixed into the warm rice so it melts, and the onion is used as a palate cleanser. You peel off a small piece and take a bite between eating your rice and protein. Once you know, it totally makes sense. Between the two koobidehs, the vegan beef was the clear winner. It was flavorful and honestly didn't taste like fake meat at all. The vegan chicken was good, but you can slightly taste that Impossible-style meat flavor. Next time, I'll definitely just get two beef koobidehs. Overall, I'm really glad I came back. After trying a bunch of other Persian spots, this is still my favorite, especially now that I can enjoy it while eating vegetarian. Highly recommend.

I had high expectations coming to this place. I had received two referrals from friends about this restaurant. They don't accept reservations. We ended up waiting in line for at least 1/2 hour. The interior was quite pretty. I had a Persian Pilsner but the can read it was made in the U.S.! For an appetizer we had the Ash e resteh. I applied this to the flatbread that they served us and added a dollop of some sour cream or yoghurt concoction sprinkling it with some spice/herbs from a small shaker. It was alright. I had the Shuslik for a main entree. The four small lamb chops may have been the best tasting I've experienced. It came with a healthy portion of rice. I declined to substitute part of my rice for salad. The plate could have used some color. For dessert we shared some Persian ice cream. Good yet different from my experience in Los Angeles. The server was handling too many tables. I don't know if they were short staffed or not. Nice experience just the same.

This place was amazing! The food and the atmosphere were both incredible. I loved it so much that I came here for lunch yesterday and came back again for dinner tonight because I was still thinking about the food! The Soltani kabob was absolutely delicious. Honestly, I feel like every time I drive by this place, I'm going to end up stopping in for one. The staff were friendly, the service was great, and everything felt warm and welcoming. As an Iranian, the name Daryoush always gives me a sense of pride and connection to our culture and history, which made the experience even more special. And I have to mention the tea and baklava! The tea was refillable, which was such a nice touch. It was perfectly brewed, beautiful in color, and full of flavor. The baklava was also outstanding and paired perfectly with the tea. Highly recommend this place. I'll definitely be back again and again!

Had a lovely dinner for my mom's birthday here. They don't take reservations so our party of 9 showed up at 4pm on a Sunday and we were able to snag some tables in the back, which worked out perfectly! Ambiance is intimate and cozy, service was great, and our food was delicious and flavorful (though wish it was a little hotter temp wise). Recommend the Super Barg- filet mignon and chicken thigh filet- tender and flavor. You can upgrade the rice for $5 to any of the special rices. The koobidehs are also very good and flavorful. They charge $15 if you bring a cake. They were able to add candles and bring it out with all of the plates, utensils. We very much enjoyed our experience at Daryoush and recommend it for special occasions or casual outings!

Party of 5 coming from Sac and South Bay to catchup over lunch. We checked in around 12:30PM and were promptly seated. Started with the combination appetizer plate, which was a good combination and was very good. Nothing memorable... For lunch 3 of us opted for the combination for two, which was plenty for the 3 of us. The other two in our party opted for the combination koobideh kabob, the barg and chicken kabobs were soft and delicious. The koobideh was soft and juicy but could have used more onion in it. The basmati rice was cooked to perfection and the nice touch of tahdig on every rice dish was very nice and appreciated. Service was great and the staff were kind and cordial. By the time we were done, there was a wait as every table was taken. Solid Persian food in the heart of downtown Was Amit Ce Eek.

Daryoush was such a great find after a show. It's a dimly lit Persian spot with a nice, streamlined menu and a cozy feel. Our dinner did take a little while to come out, but it was definitely worth the wait. We ordered the lamb chops with rice and salad, the jujeh kebob, and the salmon kebob. The rice came with a piece of tahdig on top, which was a nice touch. I especially liked the salmon - it was moist and cooked really well. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the lamb chops were soft, succulent, and didn't taste gamey at all. You can really taste the charcoal flame on the meats, which added so much depth without overpowering the dishes. The flavors were subtle and balanced, with hints of saffron throughout, especially in the rice. They also have a good selection of vegan options, which is nice to see. Next time I'm in the area, I'd love to come back and try their stews. Overall, a really good spot with great food. We all enjoyed our dinner here.

So happy to see Persian cuisine! The service was attentive, the Malbec was fantastic and the food was good. The yogurt marinated chicken kebab was moist and I loved the citrus hint that went so well with the meat. The filet was seasoned well and very tender. My only criticism was the rice as I felt it was extremely bland and under seasoned. The yogurt dip with cucumbers was refreshing and worked perfectly with the meal. All in all a wonderful experience!

We went there tonight for dinner and we had such an amazing time. The service is impeccable. The ambience is lovely. The food is out of this world. I had the salmon kebabs with the rice and the Shiraz salad and it was so good. I also had the hummus my friends got various dishes and they loved theirs as well. We also got the appetizer of feta cheese. That was really good. We did think it would be nice if there had been a sauce that came with the meats but still still it was amazing. Highly recommend this place. We got lucky with parking so I would recommend going around 5 o'clock.

We both have a…read moregenuine appreciation for Persian cuisine and frequently dine at Persian restaurants throughout California. One of our favorite restaurants is in Sunnyvale, and Alborz in Walnut Creek has consistently remained a close second. Over the years, our experiences at Alborz have been overwhelmingly positive, particularly when it comes to the quality of the food. While we agree that the service isn't always the warmest or most inviting, it has consistently been professional. Several members of the staff have also been exceptionally accommodating, friendly, and welcoming, often greeting us with genuine smiles. After recently reading through some of the Yelp reviews, I was genuinely surprised by the number of negative experiences reported. I certainly don't want to discredit anyone else's experience, but ours has been quite different. The food has consistently been excellent, and we've always found the restaurant to be clean, organized, and well maintained. We sincerely hope that continues. One particular review mentioning possible food poisoning caught my attention and raised some concerns, especially because my wife and I also bring our children here. On October 22, 2026, at approximately 4:15 PM, I called the restaurant and spoke with a gentleman who identified himself as a shift lead, or someone serving in an assistant management capacity. I wanted to address my concerns directly rather than make assumptions based solely on an online review. I was genuinely impressed by his professionalism. He was courteous, patient, and thoughtful in his responses. He explained that he believed the complaint may have been associated with the former Berkeley location, which is no longer operating. He also mentioned that the Walnut Creek location has a different chef and indicated that the concern had been addressed. While I cannot independently verify the circumstances surrounding that particular review, I appreciated his willingness to have an open and respectful conversation about a serious concern. What stood out to me most was that he didn't dismiss my questions or rush to end the conversation. He took the time to listen and respond professionally, which says a great deal about the importance of customer relationships. After seven years of dining here, I can only speak from our family's personal experiences. The food has consistently met our expectations, the establishment has appeared clean and well maintained, and the service, even when not particularly personable, has remained professional. My wife and I will continue supporting Alborz Restaurant and bringing our family here. We genuinely enjoy the cuisine and hope the restaurant continues maintaining the quality and standards that have kept us returning all these years.

They brought a complimentary plate of fresh herbs, onions, and flatbread which was delicious. We ordered a Greek salad, a kebab plate of Joujeh kabob (roasted chicken) with bones and kabob koobideh (ground lamb with spices) and Persian tea. The salad ingredients were all fresh and the dressing was simple and tasty. It paired well with the entree. The kebab plate had two large meat skewers and a large helping of saffron rice. It fed both of us and we had leftovers. The chicken was so well seasoned- it's one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had. The other kebab was good too. The service was excellent- I can't remember our servers name but he was a younger guy with red hair. I'll be dreaming about the chicken and rice! Can't wait to go back next time I'm in town.

The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in, and they made us feel right at home. My wife ordered the chicken tikka masala, and it was rich, creamy, and packed with authentic flavor. We also ordered the bolani the eggplant dish, and it was fantastic. The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, and you can tell they put a lot of care into the food. Great prices, outstanding hospitality, and some of the best kabobs we've had in the area. What is the point of an appetizer if it's not served before the main dishes? We were very disappointed. Taste wise, bolani was very thin and bland. Barely any potatoes or stuffing. The bread was very thin too. Kunduz Kabab's bolani is top tier, we should've just had dinner there. The Chapli kabob and Karahi chicken were also disappointing, I think the quality has changed perhaps with new management. We also noticed the waitress kept gloves on, the same gloves she would handle payments with, she used to hand us our plates and cutlery. That is very unhygienic and quite frankly appalling.
