We took some family here last week. Let me start with what we ordered for 8 ppl. We ordered 2 bolanis and 2 family platters, drinks and 1 sheryakh. The bolanis were one of the best I have tasted. The family platter: chicken kabob had no taste whatsoever. The beef and lamb shank smelled bad. The tikka kabob was so tiny pieces. The kabuli pallow was mediocre. Only 1 bathroom for that size of restaurant and no toilet seat cover, no tissue paper. Service is mediocre. I don't really know why this place has such a high rating. This place has the best Afghan food I've found in the whole county. Truly a gem. Everything we've ever ordered here has been phenomenal: lamb tikka kabobs, chicken kabobs, qabili pulao, mantu, bolani, and even the giant combo platter. All incredibly tasty and cooked perfectly. I also think their green chutney is the best. I put it on everything! I could inhale a pound of their rice with the green chutney on it. Amazing Afghan Food and Warm Hospitality! The flavors were rich and authentic from the juicy kebabs to the perfectly seasoned rice. The naan was fresh and soft, and every dish tasted homemade. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel like family. I know the food photo was taken halfway through the meal, but that's only because it was too good to wait! The tikka kabob...some pieces were tender, others dry, but no juice. It didn't feel like the food was that fresh. The rice was decent, and the bread was soft and fresh. Wow very authentic Afghan food here! You can tell by the tons of Afghani people at the restaurant. We ordered the Chainaki, which was a unique experience. Never had traditional Afghan lamb stew before, lamb is fall off the bone. They explained how you are supposed to eat it. So there is a water part and content part. You pour the water part in your bowl and mix it with pieces of bread, then you eat the content part after. But I would say that if you were to order anything here order the kabobs! Omg best kabobs I ever had. They do meats very well here. I would also recommend the rice specialties here. We had the Sheer Yakh, which is the Afghan ice cream. They were making it fresh today. This is a new location and they do have a very small menu, but boy does it pack on a lot of flavorful fats. Please be mindful, that this is an Afghan Middle Eastern restaurant. Not all Middle Eastern food are made the same, they are done in their own ways. I got the Lamb Kabab and it honestly had a balance of meat and fat on there and I literally cleaned the hell out of my plate. My coworker also got the ground beef patty and she was honestly happy with her plate. Both our plates came with a side salad and nan bread which made our food complete! I've never had Afghan food and I will say it's a lot different than other Middle Eastern food and I am so happy that I was able to try it today. Just be mindful that they are starting off, so if they don't greet you or seat your right away, just be aware that this is something new to them so be patient with them because our experience with the service eating in was perfect. I'm going to guess it was the owner that checked up on us and educated me on my food on how the Lamb Kabab is a specialty within their culture and was super happy that I got it, so that next time I can try something new. I swear I don't lie I never left a negative reviews, but our recent experience at Kunduz Kabab was extremely disappointing. My family and I went there for dinner and ordered 6 kababs, 1 bolani, and a Watani burger for my son. We were told the food would take about 40 minutes due to the crowd, which we understood and accepted. After waiting, the bolani was brought out, but we found hair inside it, which was very upsetting and unacceptable. I could've told the owner, but I didn't like to have an argument. I'm on the road number of a customer. When the kababs arrived, only 4 were served instead of the 6 we ordered, and they were missing the salad and hot sauce. The salad arrived very late, after we had already finished eating, which felt careless and disrespectful. To make matters worse, when I paid we discovered that we were charged for all 6 kababs, even though only 4 were provided. Between the cleanliness issue, incorrect order, delayed service, and unfair billing, this experience was frustrating and disappointing. read more
