Chicken wrap side of falafels

Friendly service and always food served fresh. Always my go to for a good wrap and cravings for falafels.

San Diego Wrap

I finally had the opportunity to try the Kebab Shop, this location in Walnut Creek. I have heard so many great things about this biz and was so excited at the opportunity to give it a-go. A few things stood out to me while there. I love that the menu is visual and shares what items will already be in a bowl and what items you can add additionally or for a small fee. Essentially you choose a base, fillings, and protein. I also love the family-owned feels and the complimentary sauce bar..if there's one thing this girl loves, it's her sauces! You can have the option of O.G. yogurt, fire chili, cilantro-jalapeño, or dill yogurt. There are also sides & salad options, as well as yummy protein options including carved chicken and chickpea falafels. I chose a wrap on the 'famous' charred flatbread. It was SO good and also SO big. See picture below but literally my entire forearm. I can see why this flatbread is instagrammable, it's literally delicious but also quite sizable. I wanted to try something unique and ordered the San Diego wrap (comes with feta and fries) and my husband did a gyro bowl with saffron rice and added pita crumbles. We also did a side hummus and pita, and side cranberry kale salad. Honestly, everything was stellar. Service was fast and efficient, and the WC location was super clean. Would def come back to try more offerings if I'm in the area again. An overall great fast-casual experience.

This place is amazing! Such great food! The place is clean and well decorated/organized. Bathroom sign is right on point: we're neat freaks, so let us know... Best of all, the workers are super nice and helpful. They're the politest workers that's ever served me! Definitely a go to!

This was the last time. I wanted to love it but every time I feel like I get ripped off. I pay close to $30 for a wrap fries and a drink and get a wrap full of mostly salad. The food is good but it's just not worth what they're charging.

Protein bowl with extra beef.

Updated from 5 3 months ago. Takeout. Food still excellent BUT: 1. Ordering online on an iPhone took 15 minutes. Why? You need to turn phone sideways to place order. We are computer professionals. 2. Ordered 4 dipping sauces, got 0. Check your order before leaving. 3. Charged $1 for fries. There were NO FRIES.

Missing the famous donor kebabs that we enjoyed in Berlin we were advised by a family friend to try The Kebab Shop as a local substitute. We stopped by on a weekend afternoon - I decided to try the falafel bowl on saffron rice with all of the toppings, and others in my group ordered the wrap with the beef-lamb and the bowl with the kofta. After placing our orders at the counter, we waited about 20-25 minutes for our order to be prepared (the restaurant had a couple of groups dining in, and there seemed to be a handful of phone orders coming through). While we waited, I grabbed some extra cilantro and chili sauces. The portion sizes are generous - my falafel bowl had five pieces, and the wraps were stuffed with meat. While on the denser side, the falafel had good flavor, and it wasn't dry. That being said, I'd highly recommend adding the cilantro and chili sauces for an extra dimension of flavor and to liven up the rest of the ingredients. The rice was solid, but the pickled vegetables (red onion and cabbage) and the tomato & cucumber salad lacked flavor on their own. The yogurt dressing somewhat compensated for this, but I would have liked the red onion and cabbage to have more *zing.*

This was my 2nd visit to the Kabob shop. This was a better experience then last time. We went on Saturday October 19th around Noon. There was no line when we arrived. We had time to place our order with out feeling rushed. My parents each ordered a wrap each and only ate half. Next time we'll have them split a wrap. Last time I split a wrap with my mom and I didn't find it as enough. My husband and I still split a wrap, but this time I used the garlic sauce and it really spruced it up. It's a bit dry without the extra sauce slathered on top. A new blob for every bite. We also split the hummus with pita. I thought there would be 2 pita but it was only one.I didn't think that was the best bang for the buck. We also got the tabbouleh. It wasn't that great. There wasn't enough chopped cucumbers and tomatoes. It was mostly parsley. I wouldn't order either again. I would order the beef lamb wrap again. I'd split it again with the garlic sauce.

Protein bowl

I ordered from this place through DoorDash and paid extra for steak (clearly shown on the receipt), but the extra steak was completely missing. Instead, my order was filled with a lot of vegetables and barely any meat. I basically paid for something I didn't receive. This is really frustrating, especially when ordering delivery and trusting the restaurant to get it right. When you pay extra for something, you expect it to actually be in your food. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend this place.

I ate half of the wrap and barely tasted and saw any meat. I really hate that restaurants are cheap on the portions.

Ordered a wrap with beef and lamb. Guess what ? I got a veggie wrap with tiny bit of meat and it's like 90% of the wrap is veggies. So disappointing and not worth it at all for the price.

Shaved chicken bowl

I had the shaved chicken bowl with saffron rice. The rice was my fav part of the bowl. I enjoyed the cilantro sauce. The veggies were bland without the sauce added on. Portion was slightly on the small side.

This place is smaller than expected and kind of makes me think of the restaurant next door that sells grilled fish. The man who helped us in the front was pretty nice and answered our questions about hummus. Turns out that the additional $1.50 for the hummus for your wrap is really just a tiny sauce cup size. For a full side of hummus to go along with anything is an additional $5.50. This did catch me off guard because most of the Mediterranean places will just put the hummus on your plate without charging you for the full price of a side. I also wonder why we end up paying 15% tip which we volunteer to do when there is essentially no service. We have to go pick up our food and bring it back to our table and then we cleared our table afterwards. The food was pretty good but nothing special. The wrap is very light and the flatbread is like a very thin tortilla. It's very nice that it is grilled. However the wrap is rather a small meal because it is very skinny so it's mostly lettuce and a little bit of meat. We had the carved chicken thigh which was pretty tasty but messy because it consists of small shredded pieces that fall everywhere. The plate is probably the best thing to order if you're hungry. They give you plenty of rice and salad. Be very careful of the salad dressing because it's very sour and mostly vinegar. I threw the entire tiny cup of dressing into my salad and all I could taste was vinegar which was very unpleasant. The rice is very chewy and not light like other places but it has a very strong saffron flavor. If you ever cooked with saffron, you know that the flavor of saffron is like tasting the sea. I could really taste the sea in this rice. The rice is very chewy so if you like light rice then this is not for you. I think the rice was possibly the tastiest thing that I had today. My husband and I split both the wrap and the grilled chicken plate. It's hard to say which one is better because they are very similar in flavors. The grilled chicken is pretty good but very very skinny. The photo of the kebab on the website is a lot bigger than what you actually get in person. It's almost half the size. It's the skinniest chicken kabob I've ever laid my eyes on. For $40 for the two of us, we were full but it does seem a bit steep for what you actually get which is mostly rice and salad. The protein should definitely be increased for this price point. It's too bad because we really wanted to like this place. We go to Mediterranean restaurants all the time and we tend to pay a little more than this but we always get more protein than this. At this price point, they would have to give us a little bit more protein or add a little extra like a hummus to entice us to come regularly. Next time we might go next door to the grilled fish restaurant. It's also a chain restaurant too. They give you a lot of protein there.

Did I mention how great the music is. My kids usually end up dancing.
Holden L.

The district manager takes pride in the quality of food and service. They actually turned a negative experience I had into a positive one. Our kids love the fries, chicken, kebab, and rice. They say it's their second favorite place to eat!

To keep it short…read more.. Excellent food. Excellent service. Gluten free options. I will definitely make sure to visit again when I'm in town. -------------- If you want to read my story of how and why I tried this place, read more here: I walked by this place while my car was getting an oil change. They had a sign that said in big letters, "HUNGRY? We can fix that!" Like Winnie the Pooh, I checked in with my stomach and answered yes! I was famished. I had brought my lunch with me but left it in the car while it was getting the oil changed, so I had nothing to nibble on. It was kind of early, maybe 10 AM, and I didn't even think they would be open, but then I realized they did have the sign outside on the sidewalk. I walked by the front door and it opened automatically. My heart started to flutter. So I went to look at their menu online and saw that they had chicken shawarma bowls. I love chicken shawarma. I decided to look them up on Yelp and make sure they had good reviews. I realized that they were a sponsored ad, and that gave me pause. The last time I went to a Middle Eastern restaurant that was sponsored, it was not so great, so I quickly checked the reviews. They have pretty good reviews! One review said that the chicken was dry, but others were more positive. I had a really good feeling, so I ordered it. Another reviewer commented that the rice was so good -- and they're not normally a rice enthusiast -- so when I placed my order, I upgraded my rice from the white rice that comes with the order to the rice infused with turmeric and garbanzo beans. When I opened my order, the bowl was a pretty decent size. If my husband had been with me, we probably would've been able to split it. In my order, I saw: * Seasoned chicken drizzled with shawarma and a delicious white sauce. * Hummus * Tomato cucumber salad * And this yellow turmeric rice I couldn't resist -- the rice was the first thing I tasted, and it was delicious! I can't quite figure out what flavors are in there, but I could taste a hint of cinnamon, and there were definitely other flavors there. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The hummus could very easily be the best hummus I've ever had. I really enjoyed this meal. I really wanted to eat the entire bowl myself but decided to save half of it for my daughter, who I know will also love it. Customer service was excellent. Adam was at the counter and greeted me very warmly. And when I was leaving, they asked me if I wanted hot sauce and then they put that in the bag. Overall, I give this five stars. I love that the food comes in an eco-friendly container. If there's anything that I could change, it's probably that they put it in a plastic bag instead of a paper bag. I try to avoid plastic as much as possible, but the container was quite big and needed to be in a bag while I hiked back to the oil change place. Oh, and before I forget... one of the first things I asked before I ordered is if the shawarma plate was gluten-free, and he assured me that everything in it was unless I was getting pita. And one more fun note -- when I got back to the car place, someone walked in, saw my food, and immediately asked, "Oh, is that from Manakish?" I was pretty impressed they could recognize it just by the look, especially since the restaurant is about half a mile away. Oh...and when i gave it to my daughter...she loved it so it gets two thumbs up!!

We'd rather pay more for higher quality food than throw the meal away because it's simply not good.

We came in on a weekday for the lunch special and I was excited to see it was still on the menu. I ordered the vegan beef koobideh and added a vegan chicken koobideh for $5. The lunch special comes with half rice, half salad, plus a drink. I chose the iced tea and it was really refreshing. For an appetizer, I had my must-have mast-o-musir (shallot yogurt). They also bring out butter and half a raw onion, which I always thought was random until I asked my Persian coworker how you're actually supposed to eat it. Turns out the butter is meant to be mixed into the warm rice so it melts, and the onion is used as a palate cleanser. You peel off a small piece and take a bite between eating your rice and protein. Once you know, it totally makes sense. Between the two koobidehs, the vegan beef was the clear winner. It was flavorful and honestly didn't taste like fake meat at all. The vegan chicken was good, but you can slightly taste that Impossible-style meat flavor. Next time, I'll definitely just get two beef koobidehs. Overall, I'm really glad I came back. You can really taste the charcoal flame on the meats, which added so much depth without overpowering the dishes. The flavors were subtle and balanced, with hints of saffron throughout, especially in the rice. They also have a good selection of vegan options, which is nice to see. On a second visit wanting a lighter meal, I decided to only get the salads, and the dolmas. The salads here are really good. Too bad, most people don't seem to check those out. The tabouleh had the right amount of tanginess, bite and really the best that I've ever had (and I typically dislike tabouleh). The Mujaddara salad was equally tasty. Loved their dolmas which weren't crazy tangy like most other places. Same with the hummus. Their hummus version is the best that I've had in the recent past. Ambiance is fine for a sit-down meal as well (although this is only a small hole-in-the-wall place), and service was quick and efficient. My gyro craving remains unfulfilled, and this place did not deliver. But Babalou's does the salads really well and I'll go back just for the salads.
