Fried pickles
Brittney A.

Okay first thing, the kindest most well mannered staff I've ever encountered AND they were all high school age boys...I was laughing and gave kudos to whomever raised them or was running this place! They did awesome. Our favorite thing on the menu is their Fried Pickles. The best fried pickle you'll have in your life. Perfectly breaded and crunchy and crispy and then a soft delish pickle. 10/10 The Ribs were falling off the bone and really great smoky flavor. I liked the bacon wrapped shrimp but wished it wasn't fried personally! Cajun fries were BOMB. I would personally pass on the Mac & cheese, just way too much cheese for me. Good cornbread. My husband had the fried chicken sandwich and loved it - HUGE piece of chicken and really moist. Will tell others about this place!

My husband arrived about a half an hour before closing and we're worried that we might not be able to done in but we got a warm welcome. We were able to enjoy our meal a little past closing time which I was grateful for. Which bearings me to their customer service which was excellent! I got the "hungry heifer" (hilarious)-- my eyes were bigger than my stomach this day but I was able to take a few bites of everything. The brisket was the least impressive, it was overcooked and was bland. The ribs were the best tasting out of them all but still lacked flavor and tenderness. If you need a lot of extra sauces to eat through a meal, that's an indicator that it's not too good. The only 10/10 was the cornbread, which they kindly gave me extras of.

Darrell's is fantastic - I cant say that enough. We have been there several times and honestly the most outstanding thing there (for me) are the fried wings. The flavor, the texture, the quality, the sauces INSANE. The staff is always friendly, and it makes you feel like you're sitting at your friends house enjoying a great meal. The parking lot does get a little packed so make sure you account for that when going. Their chicken/dumpling soup is ALWAYS a good idea regardless of how warm it is outside.

Darrell's delivers tasty, homecooked offerings in a casual setting, Unpretentious and unfussy, you will leave from here with a full belly. I enjoyed the selections on my particular visit. I liked that they had cucumber salad which was a nice, unusual option for a side. We sprang for dessert because I heard the banana pudding was not to be missed and it did not disappoint. Service was excellent. Thanks, Darrell's. If you like home cooking and barbecue check this place out!

We aren't from the area and was looking for a casual restaurant with good food. Darrell's is definitely that place! The staff is very friendly and inviting. I was greeted when I walked in and ensured I'd be helped as soon as possible. I ordered to go because my little girl fell asleep on the way. Everything was hot and fresh. I ordered the chicken and waffles and it was incredible. The waffles are so crisp and sweet, they were good without syrup! The chicken was boneless, crunchy and full of flavor. I got mashed potatoes on the side and they were wonderful as well. My partner added a pig wing to his order and while we were expecting something larger for $6, it was so flavorful! He ordered the blackened catfish and it was seasoned very well, very flavorful. Overall, we had a great experience and definitely recommend this place!

Wings, all flats, medium sauce

Yum! Went on a recent trip to Venice. Loved the wings and the fried chicken. The Cole slaw was delicious. Baked beans were good too. I asked for wings extra crispy and they were perfect. They forgot to toss them in medium sauce but brought me sauce so I added myself. Evan our server was very nice. He was so busy I felt bad for him. It was early on a Monday night and they were super busy. Will go back next time in Venice.

Brisket and pulled pork, Mac n cheese and cornbread.

Fresh, fresh, fresh delicious deli sandwiches! Great complete deli menu too from simple ham and…read morecheese to spicy Italian. Plus, there are hot sandwiches. You can order on the menu too. You can find something on this menu that you're going to love. Bread is fresh and so are the deli meats and all the toppings from green pepper to banana peppers to lettuce, tomato and spicy oil and vinegar dressing you'll put together a perfect sandwich. We had two different ones the Italian with the hot capicola, which was perfectly spicy and loaded with meats. The second sandwich was a ham, cheese and salami with lettuce, banana peppers, tomato, onion, all the fixings and that hit the spot too. We had two 8 inch subs and nothing was left. We also had chips on the side And that added to making the sandwich a perfect lunch combo. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because parking is extremely limited and in the back. If you don't know this deli, you wouldn't know where parking is but if you drive around the back, you'll see a very small parking lot and an entry into the deli. Staff is friendly and super helpful if you're not sure what to get. The place was crowded at lunchtime on a weekday with plenty of regulars, they know a good thing when they taste it. I'm looking forward to coming back into town to try something different since the menu was so vast it just means I have to come back again and again.

In Season, Saturday, March 21, 2026 - Two for take out lunch for the beach…read more My wife has been bragging about these folks for months so we thought to stop in and see how they are for a few sandwiches?! VERY GOOD is the short answer! My wife got the Polo Toscano - grilled chicken on an awesome sourdough bread that I believe comes in from New Jersey? She decided to take a little bite in their roomy parking lot!!!! AND the result was we did not make it over KMI/Hatchett Creek Bridge heading to Nokomis Beach..... I got the "stump"/end of the bread with a little bit of chicken / cheese etc. So will have to go by her assessment. 9/10 I got the Lukie - portabella, asparagus, zucchini, roasted red pepper cheese (provolone and they let me try a piece before they made the sandwich!!! WOW that is no Dietz & Watson or Publix brand cheese - right out of the Italian market in NY or Philly!!) They put balsamic and oil on and the veggies were sauté etc. And there in was the only issue. Flavor and ALL ingredients were great....... but the sourdough bread was a soggy sponge by the time I cracked it open on the beach about 30 minutes later. The vinegar, the liquids from the sauté, the oils and etc. I WILL be going back for this exact thing next time, BUT will get it "dry" or dressing on the side. I picked it apart and threw well over 1/2 the roll in the trash. 5/10 Really good first visit for me and EASY PEASY fix so check back on my update...... OR go there yourself and find out how great they are! I spoke to a few friends and the overwhelming feedback was very good food and selection....but prices are a bit high for a deli/takeout.
