Daredevil brewery started in Shelbyville before relocating to Speedway. Daredevil Hall, located in the Ironworks hotel bldg, is more of a bar/gathering place. Children are welcome in the main area. They serve mostly their beers with some guest beers and wine. I like IPAs so I gravitate towards either their flagship Liftoff or Ripcord, a double IPA. I tried a sparkplug, one of their shandy style beers, a mixture of Liftoff and blood orange. It's a nice beer for a summer day. They hired a popular local chef to create some great food options. The burgers are smash style, good flavor. The spicy bar nuts are good to munch on while drinking a beer at the bar. They also serve a brunch menu on the weekends and have a kids menu. read more

It all started with Lift Off IPA. This was Daredevil's first beer. And is a very popular and top-selling beer in Indianapolis. Daredevil Hall is a pub, not actually a brew pub because they don't brew here. But the focus is on Daredevil's beers although they also serve about a dozen guest beers at this location. I've tried some of the seasonal beers like the maibock, marzen, and a few of their bocks. These are all German lagers that are all malty and not bitter at all. The food is really good too. I've tried the roasted brussel sprouts with cherries. Very good. Also the nuts with bacon. Awesome. The beer steamed mussels with frites. You get to choose which beer it's steamed in. Delicious! They also have an assortment of sausages and burgers that I'll try next along with a few of the beers that I haven't had yet. The bartenders are friendly and the service is pretty quick. read more

This place takes me back to a burger joint back in my hometown in northwest Indiana (any Schoops fans out here?). The burgers here are smash-style and crispy, so you can easily eat a double patty burger. All burgers come with fries, but a side salad for an up-charge. They have lots of beer options as this restaurant is a branch off of Daredevil Brewing Company. I ordered the basic cheeseburger as is, and it was amazing. Buttered bun, crispy burger with lettuce and tomato; and it came with a spicy brown mustard-like sauce mixed with something else I can't put my finger on (really good though!). They offer a few unique sauces to dip your fries in (curry ketchup, curry aioli, etc) but I stuck with the classic garlic aioli. The fries were decent, not the crispiest fries I've ever had but still were seasoned perfectly. Parking here may be somewhat of a challenge. Located under the IronWorks hotel, the parking lot is very busy, even if the restaurant itself is not as packed. We went for lunch and parked somewhat far out, so keep in mind when you're visiting! read more

I really enjoyed my visit to Daredevil Hall. I thought the food was great and the meals were fairly priced. I got the smash burger with a side salad. The salad was great, I love the addition of the crunchy pepitas! The burger was pretty good too. It's almost like a steak and shake consistency but a higher quality and more meat. The fries were excellent. For an appetizer we ordered the crispy Brussel sprouts which had an amazing and complex flavor, almost a sweet but bitter taste. I feel for 8 dollars the portion is a little small, but enough for 2 people to share it as a side dish. The new beer, Hop pilot, was AMAZING. It has a unique, full flavor that is not too in your face with the hops. To sum it up, the food was 5/5. I rated 4/5 for a couple reasons: 1. The server took the brussel sprout plate away without asking and there were still some left that we had planned on eating. 2. It was very loud so it was hard to carry on a conversation, and 3. The beers were pretty expensive so for 2 entrees, 4 beers, and one appetizer it was $74 dollars. This place is wonderful! Great beers, food, service, and atmosphere. We popped in here on a whim because we found some downtime on our hands during a show choir competition down the street at North Central High School. This is a great spot to hang out. The interior is industrial and open, although pretty loud. There are a few TVs, not too many, showing sports. We sat at the bar because the mid-afteroon winter sun was shining in through the garage door windows right on our backs. It felt so good. Daredevil has a strong beer list. No matter what your taste, you're sure to find something you'll enjoy. On our first visit, we tried a few IPAs, including a DDH, which is a double dry hopped, and a robust stout. If you're not sure what to order, either ask for a tiny taste or go big and order a flight! Since the show choir food choices are dismal, we ordered a late lunch at Daredevil. I was extremely excited to see vegetarian/vegan choices on their menu that looked tasty and not expensive. Also, most importantly, these choices weren't just vegetables deep fried into mush with no actualy nutritional value. That's so refreshing to see! Thank you. Without hesitation, I ordered the grain bowl. It was crisp and fresh and I will order it again! My husband ordered up some hot wings and was equally pleased with his lunch. So it's been a while since I've written a review, for whatever reason, but today inspired me! I had the juicy brewcy cheeseburger, and as many have said before me, it is truly inspirational! Everything about this burger makes me wish there was just one more bite even though it's already 10 ounces! The pub cheese, which is akin to an upscale Pimento Cheese, is perfectly melty and messy! The onions have just enough potency to make you not take them off, And the sweet pickles add that extra excitement! I opted for the side salad vs fries...sadly, but I was surprised to have such a nice salad! I told them it was almost too pretty to have at a brewery! So now about the burger itself - I'm not sure what percentage beef they use, but it didn't drip any grease, but wasn't dry by any means. Each mouth full was perfect...again, at the end I wanted one more bite to satisfy me. I also indulged in a summer drink coming in at 5.2%, I had the Shark Plug Shandy made with Lift Off IPA and San Pellegrino Blood Orange soda - it was so tasty! This place is fabulous! I came to a networking event here, and was blown away by the way the staff cared for us. They know their stuff, properly set expectations, and provided great service. I got the cauliflower caesar salad which was fantastic. The caesar dressing was wonderful a nd a pleasant surprise! If you have someone presenting to a large group, they will need to speak loudly/shout, as the industrial environment makes this place a bit noisy, but one on one there is not an issue! read more

Daredevil Hall is a small casual eatery located in the Ironworks Hotel building on the southwest corner of Keystone Avenue and 86th Street on the Indianapolis northside. There is significant free off-street parking just south of the building, and while I have heard that parking can sometimes be problematic I have also heard that Daredevil Hall customers can use the hotel's free valet parking if they wish. Daredevil Brewing Company opened the Hall some three or four months ago, and although I live in the area I only this past week gave it a try. I was not impressed. The interior is an L-shaped space divided into two primary areas with approximately three dozen stools in the bar area and an assortment of benches and picnic-type tables in the more general dining area. The decor is industrial, and given those acoustics the noise level is loud. A row of garage-type doors/windows make up the south wall of the bar. The food offerings include a selection of shareable small plates, salads, pommes frites, sandwiches and sausage dogs, and more. There is also a short children's menu. Beverages include an extensive list of ales, beers, ciders, and lagers; a short list of wines; and a typical list of non-alcoholic options. I chose to sit at the bar. My server was Ryanne, who was quite cordial but not always especially attentive. I ordered the Traditional Poutine from the pommes frites section of the menu, and that's when things really fell apart. When the dish arrived I was first surprised with what I thought to be a somewhat small serving. Then when I really looked at it I saw that food was burned, some of the fries actually going to crunchy charcoal at the ends. The burnt flavor tended to permeate throughout. At that, the portion that was not overpowered by the burnt flavor was not particularly palatable. I'm not enough of a gourmet to pin it down, but I would guess the gravy arrives on site in cans. Daredevil Hall is located in the Ironworks Hotel Indy Building on E. 86th Street. The entrance is on the the Southside of the building as well as the large parking lot. The family dining area and Taproom has an open atmosphere filled with natural lighting from the floor to ceiling windows and garage doors in the Taproom. The large dining area has various sizes of wooden tables with iron legs. The decor is certainly minimalist with a large, bare white wall, a brick accent wall and one wall decorated with patent diagrams prints. Simple, clean lines. Daredevil is well known for their flagship Lift Off IPA which has spread like wildfire through Indiana. They offer a terrific selection of American IPAs, tasty ales and German style lagers, ciders and wine as well as guest taps from other breweries. Their beer is brewed at the Daredevil location in Speedway, Indiana right on historic Main Street. The menu is diverse and offers appetizers to steak. A few of the choices are an Indy Dog, the Guadalajars (bacon wrapped dog) and the Currywurst which is the Turchetti Texas Hot Link served with curry ketchup. The Hall Classics include the Daredevil Salad, Steak and Fries and Midwest Fish Fry. They offer 4 foundation sandwiches with a Steak sandwich, 2 types of Burgers and a Crunchy Chicken Schnitzel (you chose preparation, 1) American Style with tomato, onion, pickle and lettuce, or 2) Jaeger style with pickled cucumber and mushroom gravy. On the weekend (10-1) you can pop in for one of the 3 breakfast options of Biscuits and Gravy, Brewery Croque Madame or Breakfast Poutine. My husband and I both ordered the Crunchy Chicken Schnitzel. His prepared American style with L,T,P,O and mine Jaeger style served with pickled cucumber and mushroom gravy. The plentiful, light breading was well seasoned and the thin chicken was juicy and tender. The sandwich was good but just fell short for us. I think where we went wrong was ordering something with this much breading. We rarely order a meat with breading, usually grilled, and we stepped out of our comfort zone since it sounded so good. The Spaetzle will be my next entree when we return. Spaetzle, so the description says, is a soft egg dumpling of Bavaria and baked like Mac n' Cheese. It can be prepared two different ways with 1) three beer cheese or 2) fried noodles, mushrooms and cheese curds. I love pasta and cheese so I can't wait to try this. First off if you sit at the bar say hey to Ryanne. She's good people. I posted a picture of my Spark Plug, which is a shandy made of their Vacation kolsch brewed in house with blood orange soda. Yeah, not strong. But damn refreshing! Kung Pao wings are tasty without ridiculous spice. The French onion smash burger is not huge, but is really good, served with proper pommes frites. This brewery does things right. Sure, they make great beers, but they also add the things that make the customer experience better. First, they have regular hours so that you don't have to memorize which day of the week it is to know if you can stop by. They open at 11 so you have a choice of stopping before dinner or after, or in this case, stop for dinner. Yes, they have a nice menu of sandwiches, spaetzle, poutines, sausage, and shareable appetizers to take care of your hunger. The service was attentive and seemed well trained in using their electronic ordering tablet so that they don't have to rely on memory alone. Also, your credit card is processed at your table, not back in some obscure place. I ordered a flight of four ounce beers. They have a rack for holding four selections, but since each beer is priced separately, you can get as many or as few as you like. I went with five and found all them quite good! I started with a Rauchbier (5.5% 25 IBU) which was a smoky German Style lager. I then had the Negra Mexican Dunkel (5.4%, 20) which was smooth and refreshing after the Rauchbier. Next was the JWP American Stout (8.2%, 65) that had a chocolate espresso flavor. I moved on to the Vacation Kolsch (5%, 20) that tasted very light but still flavorful even after the stout. I finished off with the NEX #7 Hazy IPA (8%, 80) which was full of hoppy flavor. All were good to great! The food was also very good. I started with the crispy Brussels Sprouts which are grilled with cherries, and add melted pecorino cheese and whole seed mustard for a bit of acidity. I also enjoyed the Brewer Steak Sandwich with unseasoned frites (they have salt, pepper, and ketchup at the table). The steak was sliced into bite sized bits and had a nice char for flavor. It was garnished with a bit of lettuce, onion jam, horseradish aioli, and diced cornichons (sweet pickle). I couldn't help but think of the flavor reminding me of a really great chargrilled burger but with the texture of a Philly steak. Pleasantly surprising! The frites were cooked properly, but definitely needed the seasonings/condiments to perk them up. Service was pleasant and kept my empty glasses/dishes removed. Everyone was in an upbeat mood which you would hope for a new business. Overall, a very positive experience and a place all new and competing breweries should be aware of. This place is great! With one glaring exception. Parking was ridiculous. I was here on a Thursday evening at 7pm and ended up having to circle the lot 6 times in order to find a parking space. That said, the beer and food is great!! The bartender was busy, but still very helpful and kind. And the selection of beers was pretty great as well. There has to be something there for everyone. I'm a fan of Daredevil beer, so I was pretty excited to make our first trip over to Daredevil Hall to check it out. We sat in the restaurant/hall area. Acoustics in the area create for a very loud room. Our server Christopher did a great job. It was a little disappointing that right before our meals came out they told us they were out of the Indy dog, I would've thought they should have known that a little sooner. A couple of people in our group got the Juicy Brewcy which was reported as not particularly flavorful. I got the steak sandwich which was OK, but not anything special. The fries and the beer were good. If I will go back, I would try to sit in the bar and maybe try the appetizers, but will probably skip any of the other food items. Excited to see a more casual establishment enter the Ironworks neighborhood. A lot of places in this area include expensive Italian and steakhouses. It nice to be able to come here with some friends and have a few local beers and eat bar food. They were very busy and I think everyone who visited was excited for their opening. We got several orders of the pretzel, Kung Pao wings, and poutine. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food. The pretzels are hot and soft and I love the little bits of lemon in top, very different. The poutine is a delicious heap of indulgence. I liked the wings but I didn't think they tasted like Kung Pao in any way, maybe just because there were peanuts on top. Visited the new Daredevil Hall on a Saturday. I am a big fan of Daredevil beers, and they did not disappoint. We sat at the bar and the service was wonderful. Our bartender offered large samples of anything we wanted to try, free of charge. I went with the intriguing 'shark plug,' a combination of Lift Off and San Pellegrino orange soda, which the bartender warned me was sweet, but was refreshing and tangy all the same. While the beer and service were wonderful, I have to say I was completely underwhelmed by the food and the physical space. The Ironworks Building is so cool and industrial, and the inside of Daredevil is truly a hall. The dining area is large with picnic tables and bare walls. The bar was a little better, with the addition of some TVs. They have the garage doors that they can open in the warmer months, which I think will help. Otherwise, pretty boring. For food we got the pretzel with beer cheese. The pretzel was nice, but the beer cheese was....interesting. It needed more beer or cheese or something and was extremely soupy. The only benefit of the beer cheese was that there was a lot of it, if you like your dippin sauces. I don't know if I'd eat at Daredevil again, especially with all the great nearby options. But I'd definitely go back for a good beer. read more

We went for trivia and had a blast! The trivia host was fun and the service was pretty good for how busy they were. The reason I knocked off the star is the expense for the value. They have pretty average beer for the Indianapolis area. Like it's good, don't get me wrong, but a lot of beer in Indianapolis is good and only charges $5 a pint. Their beers seemed to typically be $6 or $6.50 a pint. The food was also pretty good. But again it cost a bit more than I wanted. I paid $10 for a medium serving of poutine and my friend paid $12 for a burger. Overall, I'd come back. But it probably won't be a monthly thing. I might visit twice a year or so. read more

I'd not been to any iteration of Daredevil prior, though I like their beer. This location in the Ironworks Bldg is closer to me than Speedway, so when someone in our group suggested it I was all about it. Our party of 6 met for a Girl's Lunch, and we all remarked at one point or another about the great service. I didn't catch our servers name, but she had pink hair and eyebrows and was an absolute hoot as well as being efficient. Three of us opted for the Chop and Fries. We all agreed that their salad and fries combo is a good menu choice, a welcome but uncommon thing to find. While it looked good, it wasn't a typical "chopped" salad but more of a chef salad. Two of us had burgers and fries; one was the Juicy Brewsy pub-cheese-stuffed and one was the Brewery Cheeseburger. Both burgers were hand-pattied and apparently delicious. I did sample a couple fries, which were thin and crispy. Speaking of crispy, I had the Crispy Cauliflower Caesar. It came with white raisins and pepitas. The raisins were kind of a weird twist. If it had had more carmelized cauliflower, I might not have minded them but the sweetness was a little much and out of place. All in all it was so good I might try to recreate a crispy cauliflower salad at home. Of course their beer selection was outstanding as they offer theirs plus several guest taps. Though I opted for a double IPA instead, the menu includes beer pairings for all their dishes, which I love and wish more brewpubs would do. Our table had benches. Went to Daredevil Hall on a rainy Saturday afternoon and was so impressed with their food and beer selection! I ordered the Hot Pretzels and they had sea salt on them and were so flavorful. They were also pretty big! The beer cheese was great, nothing to write home about. I also got the buffalo wings which were a good size, very flavorful and the perfect amount of sauce. I was with a group of 8 and the group liked all the food they ordered. My one complaint is the slow service. The day we went in they were not crowded, but we rarely saw our waitress. I went about 20 minutes without any water in my water glass. The family friendly environment is amazing as is the food and beer, but the service definitely needs some help! read more

My husband and I wanted to celebrate National Pizza Week with one of our favorite local pizzas - the Daredevil! This pub-style pizza has got it going on with ground pepperoni and banana peppers - a nice, spicy flavor combination that we really enjoy. We ordered a couple of side salads before the pizza came out, and I ordered the lemon vinaigrette dressing - what a refreshing, delightful salad dressing! We come here pretty regularly and I don't remember ever having this one before...it was wonderful - and unique to Daredevil! I tried their Vanilla BBA JPW stout this evening and really enjoyed it... although my favorite Daredevil beer is Muse. Staff was friendly, masked and cleaning regularly. Great addition to the Ironworks Area, an area that has quickly become one of my favorite on the Northside. Daredevil hall is quaint but exactly what this space needed. There are some picic table style settings, some bar tops, some ledges, just about what you would expect and need from a beer hall - but with tons of beer on tap and great food options with a menu curated by Indy's own Neal Brown. The hall served as a great place to have a birthday gathering. Quick service and good food (albeit I had a very plain burger due to whole30 but the other options ordered looked delicious). I also majorly appreciate the payment systems they have here. It's rare in the states to see the handheld machines (very common in other parts of the world) and it makes the whole process just got a bit quicker in my opinion. The hot pretzels were different and citrusy. I got the juicy brewsy which was delicious. My husband got the beef steak and he liked it as well. Definitely a place to try out new beers. Ok, so I found this in my drafts. Apparently I forgot to finish it. Oops. I'll try to do my best to remember. I was in the pros section when I stopped writing back in 2020. Went there tonight on a whim as we were wanting to try someplace new to us. And ohhhh my goodness. I'll break it down to pros and cons. CON 1. Parking on a Friday night sucks! Website says valet parking but it's for the hotel above only. As there are 3 other restaurants in the same building it was busy and hard to find a spot. 2. For us it wasn't a bug deal at all, but they don't do reservations. First come, first sat. If you need to be somewhere at a certain time make sure you get there early. We weren't so again, not a problem for us tonight. PROS 1. Has a modern contemporary lodge feel to it's decor. I liked it. 2. The food was amazing. Flavors and selection were so great. Mini pro, portions were a little small for some things, huge for others. 3. Even though they don't look it they were pretty kid friendly. I don't remember them having a kids menu, which wasn't a big deal since we only had the baby with us. read more

Daredevil Hall is FANTASTIC!! We came here for a late lunch after doing some shopping in the Keystone area. We decided to sit at the bar and were promptly greeted by one of the bartenders. We both ordered beers -raush beer and helles beer, both were super fresh and delicious. I ordered the hummus with pretzel and my boyfriend had the Indy Dog. The hummus had a good amount of garlic in it but was tasty and complimented the the pretzel well. The Indy Dog was great - a good bun with some cheese spread, a good white sausage and a sauerkraut on top. All the flavors meshed well together. The dog came with a side of seasoned fries and a sauce of your choice. Overall we had an excellent first experience at Daredevil Hall! I feel like we've reached critical mass on breweries in the Indy area, and one will have to be really special to set themselves apart, and I feel like Daredevil is one of those. I'm not a beer drinker, but my wife had a Stout and loved it. We tried the crispy brussel sprouts for an appetizer and they were simply amazing. I never thought I'd be one to go to a restaurant and try brussel sprouts, but I'd go right back there today, just for those. One of my new favorite things in Indy. I had a burger for lunch, and it was outstanding! I was having trouble deciding between a burger and one of the sausages, our most capable waitress suggested the burger and I'm glad she did. We really enjoyed our evening eating at this place. Not only was it a very good selection of brews, but has awesome food, too! I got the peanut butter and jalapeño burger which is a limited time only and it was delicious. The brussels sprouts are good but may be a little too tiny for my likings. I would highly recommend eatong/drinking at this place as it has a good ambience and is kid friendly. Lots of TVs to watch sports as well. read more

Alright, alright, alright! This place is alright with me! I came here with a friend for dinner during the week and we were seated promptly. There was one large group and various tables full around the restaurant. Our waitress was prompt in greeting us and getting up our drinks. The space is minimalist/industrial modern and pretty cool. There was one large flat screen TV that I could see from where we were sitting. Due to all the hard surfaces in the space, it's super loud and all the voices bounce around the room making it a little hard to carry on a conversation. I do have to say it's nice that there are more restaurants and such popping up around the Nora Area. We started with the Hot Pretzels (brown butter, lemon, sea salt, beer cheese) They were really yummy! The beer cheese was a little floury for my taste but still good. The lemon added that special little something that made it extraordinary! I had the grilled chicken sandwich (creamy slaw, pickles, ale mustard) and it was perfectly prepared and yummy! I didn't quite realize that the slaw was on the sandwich and not on the side...... It was yummy but a little messy. It came with pommes frites which were very very good and I paid the extra 50 cents a piece for two dipping sauces. To wash it all down I had a dark mild (a European inspired ale) quite tasty! Nestled into the ironworks area sits this bar on the outskirts ready to give you yummy pizza and beers. The same brewery that is in speedway, this is just the "beer hall." They have smash burgers, fries, rings, pizza and sandwich options. Lots of greasy treats to have while you try their beers. The soft pretzel was good but extremely salty. I didn't care for the cheese dip. The pizza was large and came thin crust or east coast style. We opted for thin and liked this option. Great food, awesome beer, AND dog friendly patio... enough said. I like my tenderloins grilled and it was done quite well, not dried out. My partner got a burger that was fantastic and we got the extra patty on the side and out 8-year old Golden Retriever had the best dinner ever. Highly recommend. read more

I've had this place bookmarked for awhile and I'm so glad I finally visited. Great location in the ironworks area and large open space/seating areas inside, highly recommend for lunch with family or friends. Good for big groups or even a solo meal. I got the juicy brewcy & it was sooo delicious. Such a great burger & the fries were pretty much perfect! Our waiter was super friendly and helpful & answered my a million questions. I also indulged in the $5 mimosa special they have on Saturdays. Can't wait to come back & try something new, especially the fried dough appetizer :) read more
