I hired Dapper Ducts to clean my dryer vent. After Dapper completed their work, my dryer was still not drying properly, so I hired a different company to inspect what was going on. This company discovered that my dryer vent was not thoroughly cleaned. Furthermore, my dryer vent was never attached to my dryer. After the company fixed these issues, my clothes dried perfectly. Wonderful service! They arrived exactly on time and were very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I hired Dapper Ducts for an air duct cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, and chimney sweep. (It was not an easy day for such a task - the heat index was 107! - but I had to book them well in advance so we didn't know it would be so hot. They were very professional regardless.). Yani was very communicative so I always knew what he was doing and learned a lot in the process. He came across some issues, like ducts being a bit sunken (likely from previous renovations), and he fixed them efficiently and effectively. When he came across issues that were outside his wheelhouse, he explained the problem and had recommendations for how to deal with them. He also left everything clean (the employee who was with him was new and did not leave all the areas he worked on quite as immaculate, but this seems to be a common issue for contractors when business is booming and it wasn't a big deal). Yani was always very helpful and honest, explaining why some things that other similar companies try to sell are not worth the money (like UV lights). He found some slight evidence of mold in one duct, and although some might have used this as an opportunity to sell me something I didn't need, he did not; rather, he told me the issue can likely be fixed by addressing the insulation in that specific area. Our HVAC contractor urged us to get our dryer & dryer vent cleaned (clogged dryers & vents are a little-known fire hazard), so we found Dapper Ducts as highly rated on Yelp. Outstanding service from these gentlemen. The owner (Mr. Yani) and his crew came on time, did precisely what we needed, and charged a very fair price. Importantly, they did not try to upsell us on anything. Instead, he pointed out some duct work that we could do ourselves--noting AC ducts in our basement where air was leaking out at the seams. I had really high hopes for this company based on all the positive Yelp reviews. I called and made my appointment for 1 p.m. on a weekday. At 10:30 a.m. that day Yani called me and said that the crew had to come right then because their morning job was cancelled and it wasn't "cost efficient" for him to keep his crew in D.C. until my 1 p.m. appointment. I do not work close to my house, and couldn't leave the office any earlier. I told him I could not change the appointment time, and he abruptly told me that he would have to reschedule to appointment. Two days later the office called me to reschedule. I was very clear I needed the first appointment of whatever day we chose. I was given an 8 a.m. appointment on a Monday about 3 weeks later. By 9 a.m. no one had showed up, and I had to go to work. When I called Yani he told me my appointment was between 10 and 11 a.m.. I told him I had specifically made it for 8 a.m. (the first appointment of the day), and that no one would be home at 10 a.m. When I told him I was not going to reschedule with his company he simply hung up. I gave this company a second chance after they unilaterally cancelled my first appointment because it simply wasn't convenient for them. What a waste. read more

Scheduled them through a concierge service and was promised that they'd give me a call 30 minutes prior to their arrival time I work at a different location. They never did and only called when they arrived. When I explained that they were supposed to give me a call ahead, they got very unprofessional and started to speak in an extremely rude and condescending manner. They refused to wait although this was their fault miscommunicated with the client. I tried to call their office number to file an official complaint but the very same technician picked up the phone and this is when he started to make it personal and verbally attacked me. I hung up as this sort of vulgar and disrespectful behaviour is unacceptable. I was about to buy a Groupon for a duct cleaning service, and as the description of what's included in the price is rather vague (and they discourage questions in the discussion board that could help) I called to check. First of, the guy answering the phone was in a rush. Obviously, diverting so much online traffic to a single phone number is not a great idea, but other than being rushed, he did not answer my questions as if I was a customer. He literally laughed at my question and repeated it back to me as if I was an elementary student... Well, sorry! I don't clean ducts and have no education on the matter! Anyhow. The only thing he was of help for, was making up my mind to find a friendlier service. I also purchased a deal from Groupon and had the worst experience with this company. I had mistakenly scheduled my cleaning appt on the same day as my son's Kindergarten graduation ceremony. I called Dapper Ducts to reschedule my appt (I gave 24hr notice). The person who answered the phone seemed like he was in a rush, then told me that it wasn't good business practice to reschedule an appt. (what ?) He then insulted me by saying, "Who schedules an appt on the same day as your son's graduation?" He informed me that the next date he can reschedule was in 3 months, but he will try for August, which was in 2 months. He then told me that he was going to call back that day to tell me which day in August he was available. I gave him my cell number and the call never came. I called him around 5:30pm, and nobody picked up the phone. The following day, I found a note on my door saying that he was at my house. I called him and reminded him of our conversation that I wanted to reschedule and that he never called me back. This person (who I guess is the owner) was extremely rude and said that he would have to charge me extra if I wanted to reschedule an appointment. In retrospect, I truly believe he came to my house knowing that we weren't home so that he can justify saying that he would have to charge extra for rescheduling. I was visibly upset with the conversation that my husband called him back to find out what the problem was. The owner preceded to yell at my husband, basically saying that we owe him gas money. The owner said this verbatim: "I was prepaid by Groupon, I will not go to your house anymore. You will have to deal with Groupon yourself!" I have never been treated by a business entity like this. I am extremely discouraged with Groupon (are these businesses vetted?) Makes me believe that these online deals are not 100%, maybe we need to go back to the good old days by getting referrals by friends and family. I must say that Groupon did apologize for the inconvenience and immediately refunded my money. Thank you Groupon! What ever happened to customer service? I don't think I've ever had such a good experience with any maintenance/technical work done on my place. Yanni & his sidekick showed up on time. They were quick, efficient, and professional. They went above and beyond, too, cleaning the crap under the washer/dryer when they pulled it out, and shortening the overly-long dryer hose that was installed by someone who was obviously lazy. I checked around to find a place that serviced condos, and had good Yelp reviews. I didn't attempt any of the Groupon deals (which all seem to be scams. After getting scammed out of our hard-earned money by stupidly using one of those cheapo companies who just superficially blew air and dust around in our air ducts and didn't actually clean shit, we looked for a reputable company to use. Upon a referral from a neighbor we found Dapper Ducts, a pretty reputable service following the National Air Duct Cleaner's Association standards. The staff were friendly and came out the same week to clean the air ducts in our old house which was a not so well maintained foreclosure. We recently used Dapper Ducts in our new house and were just as pleased with their quality work, fast service and respect for our home and decor around the vents, as well as their availability, pleasant and professional demeanor. He and the crew were punctual for the duct cleaning itself, wore requested booties, and moved back all the furniture to its original place. The prices are very reasonable, and Dapper Ducts has all the information from the EPA website listed on their website to show they have nothing to hide. They also had a coupon listed which I mentioned to Yani, and it was applied to the bill. I called Dapper Ducts and spoke with Yani today to ask for a quote on dryer vent cleaning. I explained that someone in my building had used them previously to clean the vent and cut out chicken wire that was blocking the vent and wanted to ask if they had those records and could do the same for my unit. Yani got distracted and missed my explanation (he admitted) and we spent about 10 minutes talking in circles because he thought he heard something else. When I asked for the price quote, I asked if the coupon on his website that says literally "$80 off for Dryer Vent Duct Cleaning" could be used, Yani went into this long explanation about how the fine print on the coupon said otherwise. It was difficult to understand what he was talking about, but the gist of it seemed that this coupon wasn't for dryer vent cleaning as it stated. I tried to get clarification, but Yani said he just spent several minutes explaining the cost and why didn't I understand after that explanation? It felt like he was treating me like an idiot. I again tried to clarify and he followed up with "you're the only person who's read the coupon who doesn't see that the coupon is for air duct cleaning when you click on the coupon." Very strange. Yaniv and his team were helpful and responsive from start to finish.  We previously used them to conduct the chimney inspection our condo required and appreciated Yaniv's honest explanations and helpful advice.  So when the dryer vent at our new house was venting air into our laundry room, we called Yaniv to take a look.  After a quick but thorough inspection, he explained that the previous home owner had not installed the flexible vent hoses correctly - or up to code.  He also discovered that the hose was venting into the inside of a wall instead of into a duct.  Yaniv gave great advice and installed a temporary solution for us to use until we can have our entire dryer vent system properly installed.  And he did all of this at no charge to us.  He checked our chimney, too, and advised that it was not due for a cleaning yet.  We'll definitely call him in the spring to come back and clean the chimney after fireplace season. read more

In the end, our ducts were cleaned at a fair price, the crew was professional and respectful of our surroundings on their visit, and workmanship was almost perfect, But none of this came without witnessing Yani's questionable business and customer service practices . We experienced the same 5* level of service other reviewers describe until Yani was asked, shortly after arrival, if credit cards were accepted for payment. He said they were, with a 5% surcharge. When it was pointed out that this is against the merchant agreement with the credit card company, Yani became confrontational. He backed down from a surcharge, but instead said that he would do the work at a price higher than what was agreed upon. After more discussion, Yani agreed to do the work for the contracted price with no credit card surcharge. The work appeared to be satisfactory, the crew left, and all was well. 48 hours later, we found our humidifier had either come loose in the course of the cleaning or was not properly replaced, causing misdirection of heat almost entirely into our basement. We called Yani, who refused to return to correct this--not because he didn't feel his crew was responsible, rather because he felt we were the source of a complaint initiated against him for credit card surcharging. (We weren't.) We chose to have our HVAC contractor fix this vs. having any more dealings with Yani. Had we not asked about credit card acceptance and paid by check, I have little reason to doubt our total experience would have been along the lines of the 5* reviewers, the one flaw in workmanship (humidifier) would have been quickly resolved, and we wouldn't have had to witness this sort of behavior on the part of a business owner. I found Dapper Ducts on Yelp, so I might as well bring this thing full circle and do the next person the same favor. We were generally happy with Yani. He was courteous, friendly, and seemed to be knowledgeable. He brought one other person with him (Joe? Kevin? I cannot remember his name) who was the person who took all of the vent covers off, flushed out the vents, and replaced the covers, while Yani worked on cutting small holes into the ducts, cleaning those, and covering the holes. After they left, I found that one of the vent covers had not been replaced, at least half the covers were replaced upside down, and the large machine used to blow out the vents had been banged into at least one of our bedroom door frames, leaving two large gashes in the wood. Additionally, I had asked Yani to be sure that he or his employee used a razor blade to cut around the covers before removing them, so as to avoid peeling the paint from the walls around the vents. Yani said they always do that, but of course sometimes there is human error and he couldn't guarantee perfection (I'm paraphrasing). After they left, I noticed that a number of the vents had peeled paint around them which resulted from his worker simply not cutting carefully enough, or in some cases entirely, around the vent. Everything I mentioned in this paragraph was done by Yani's employee. So...this is a mixed review. I would give Yani himself 4 stars, but unfortunately his professionalism (he was very meticulous and wanted to be sure that he left everything just as he found it) was negated by his employee's lack of attention to detail. Because of that, even though I would recommend Yani himself, I cannot guarantee that he'll be accompanied by someone who matches his level of care and concern for others' property. I do think that if Yani had taken the time to go around to each room after the work was done and inspect what his counterpart did, he would have been able to fix the problem (incidentally, he told me he would do just that before they left, but he didn't). Price-wise, I looked into at least 3 places and Dapper Ducts fell into the average price range for their services. read more

I just got my ducts cleaned today and had a great experience. Yani and Darryl were courteous and quick in cleaning my air conditioning ducts. I thought the price was reasonable and they even told me about a web coupon that I hadn't noticed myself. They also cleaned my dryer vent and when i asked whether i should do my chimney too, they said that it didn't need it for another season. I love not feeling like a company is just trying to load you up with services you don't need. In addition, Yani threw in a few extras - a piece of insulation on my HVAC unit had come loose and he glued it on for me and he said my dryer coil was too long and therefore a fire hazard and so clipped it short for me! read more

Called Dapper Ducts for dryer vent cleaning after the place I used stopped serving DC. Really pleased with the service - Yani, the president, brought an actual passion to cleaning the dryer vent. Not only was he thorough, he made improvements to the vent by tightly taping it back together and zip tying the duct to the wall (it has a long run) so it would stay tight. He brought enthusiasm and energy to his efforts! Price seemed a bit on the high side from past costs for similar service, but he did a good job and it's not like dryer vent cleaning is an everyday expense. read more

I bought a condo recently with all sorts of HVAC issues - not installed right, dryer too close to the HVAC system in a small closet, lots of dirt and debris in the ducts. I just had a very frightening and unsettling experience with Yaniv B. from Dapper Ducts. I am also contacting the Better Business Bureau. Yaniv and a coworker, Ryan came to my home today. When looking at the dryer, he started giving a long explanation about the type of material used for the dryer duct. I asked a question regarding the code he was referring to, and he jumped up, started yelling at me, slammed washer, and stormed out of the house. He told me that I was lucky that he wasn't charging me for coming to my house and giving me advice. It was incredibly unprofessional, and quite frankly, scary. I trust that when I invite professionals into my home, they will act as professionals. As a home owner, I am allowed to ask simple questions. This was unnerving. Do not hire this company. When I told Yaniv that I would be posting a review and contacting the BBB, he jumped up and shouted out that he would respond to my post and that I would look foolish. This is unacceptable behavior. If I could give a negative 5 stars, I would. I chose Dapper Ducts because of the reviews on this site. Yani and another gentleman arrived 20 prior to their 8:00a appointment. I could not immediately answer because I was caring for my son who is a disabled. At the time they arrived, I was preparing my son for the service because noises, etc. are extremely difficult for him to endure. I was not LATE, they were EARLY. Normally, one would consider it very prompt and appreciate it; however, my circumstances do not lend me to such flexibility. I never open my door prior to ensuring it's safe, so I spoke through the window to be sure it was Dapper Ducts. Unfortunately, Yani responded to me very unprofessionally. He very sarcastically insinuated that I wasn't aware of the scheduled appointment. I asked if he was being sarcastic and he turned and walked away. I immediately called the office (which was forwarded to his cell phone). When I recognized his voice I asked if he just visited my home. He confirmed and I informed him that my appointment was not until 8:00a. He said he was mistaken and thought it was 7:45 but I should have told him he was early and ask him very nicely to wait until 8:00. Really???? He ended the call saying "lady, I don't care, I don't want your business." Unbelievable. Customer service and respect goes a long way. All the reviews are accurate! Yani and his helper were cheerful, fast and thorough. My washer and dryer are stacked in a small space so the vent is hard to get to, but he didn't bat an eye, climbed up on top and made it happen. He also went outside and into the attic to make sure he knew where the vent was going. Based on how much lint he found, I'll be calling him back in 2 years to clean it out again. So, so pleased at how easy this was. I also like that it's a flat fee ($125) for a dryer vent cleaning, so no surprises. A headache off my to do list! read more

One company said they don't clean dryer vents in condos, but Dapper Ducts does. Yaniv showed up on time. He was very honest and professional; they worked quickly and did a thorough cleaning. After telling him about our terrible groupon experience, he mentioned that he used to offer groupons but no longer does because it was a really bad deal and experience for them as a company, so don't be scared away by the 1 star reviewers who used groupon.
