After extensive research I hired JCS to clean and inspect my chimney when I moved in. I assumed it was done well but I didn't see any photos. Fast forward 6 months (I never used the fireplace during the 6 months) and I was converting to gas logs. The gas fireplace company said I needed a chimney inspection and cleaning. I told them I had it 6 months ago - but I needed a new one. Fine. I used a different company to inspect the chimney and do some brick work. I saw the photos of the debris on the shelf and inside the chimney!! The other company removed Half of a 5 gallon bucket of debris. And they showed me a nail or screw one damper that was not secured during the first cleaning. So I am very disappointed - did JCS even do anything? Oh, and I paid double to JCS rather than the second company for the same services. TLDR: I do not recommend JCS read more

I have used JCS Home Services for my wood fireplace cleaning, maintenance, and repair and have been very pleased with their work. They have been responsive, timely, and professional. After having some fireplace panels replaced, I had a question about the curing process, sent some pictures to confirm the wear was normal, and the team replied very quickly explaining that what I was seeing was normal, what to look for that wouldn't be normal, and that the fireplace was safe to use. On another occasion, I had a follow up question after the first use of the fireplace of the year and they were responsive, helpful, and even sent a team member out to confirm everything was functioning properly. JCS Home Services States on their own website that the steps for completing a dryer duct cleaning are as follows: 1.Find all exit points where ducts allow outflow from the home.2. Take airflow readings in feet per minute (fpm) to determine dryer vent performance baseline.3. Inspect the transition duct from wall to dryer. 4. Ensure equipment and materials meet expectations of code and industry standards. 5. Vacuum and clean all vents using state-of-the-art dryer cleaning tools and techniques. 6. Snake the entire ventilation system by machine. 7. Repeat airflow measurements to demonstrate results of increased airflow and guarantee customer satisfaction. Here is the reality: Two technicians showed up at my home. The only reasons A technician entered my home was to turn the dryer on when he arrived and at the end to receive payment. One technician stood at the base of the ladder the entire time the work was taking place on the roof. The other technician utilized a drill gun with attachments that supposedly cleaned approximately 25 linear feet of dryer duct from the roof down to the base of the dryer duct inside of the laundry room. None of the technicians enter the laundry room to disconnect anything. Step five that I mentioned from their website above, states that part of their processes to vacuum and clean ALL vents. In my opinion, this was one of the most important parts of the process, and it did not happen at all. When I asked the technician how they cleaned the lint from the roof shingles outside, his answer was that it would've probably been done by the wind And should be already gone by now. The technician that was on the roof, completely disobeyed any OSHA safely guidelines By not wearing a harness or tying off to something. He could've fallen off of the roof at any point and died. It took.approx 5 minutes to take the ladder off the service van and set it up and another 5 minutes to take it down and put it back. They were gone in under 30 minutes. Edit: The owner Jason called me to apologize for the issue and sought to make it right, which means a lot that they take that much customer care and are so responsive. I checked and my previous communications seem to have gone through but he hadn't received them. Seems like a company that really cares about clients. -- They've definitely gone downhill since I started using them many years ago. Unfortunately the most recent gutter cleaning they did a so-so job but immediately afterward I went and found tons of leaves still stuffed in my downspout. It had not rained and all the leaves had fallen, this was within 24 hours of them leaving. I took a photo and sent to the owner to see if they could come back by and finish the job up to ensure the downspouts are not clogged, but never received a reply. Hired JCS Home Services to inspect and sweep the chimney of the property that I just moved into. Liam and Logan came and got the job done in no time. Liam also climbed onto the roof to see if anything needs fixing, which was not part of a Level 1 check but he did it anyway. When I asked him if I should do a Level 2 check, he said he didn't think it was needed based on what he has seen. I have a wood burning stove which I have no experience with, so I asked him to give me a quick tutorial. And he cheerfully did so. He also showed me pictures of the chimney crown, which is not ideal, and advised me on how I can prolong the life of the existing setup. Back in 2018 I had a bad flea infestation I need my clothes dryer to treat my clothes, curtains, etc. At that time my dryer failed to dry clothes. JCS came and cleaned the event. After that the dyer still didn't dry clothes. A service technician came out and claimed the dryer vent needed to be cleaned. JCS came back, check their work and showed me their test of the vent being cleared. I called the service technician back. Only THEN did he say the dryer needed to be replaced I look forward to JCS providing the services that I need. read more

Impressed by JCS. They said what they meant and meant what they said when they came by to clean the gutters and the air ducts. They showed up when they said they would, did both jobs quickly, and asked for the amount on the estimate. They even helped us reset the A/C when it needed to be flipped back on. All I can say is Amazing service!!! We hired them to have our fireplace cleaned and inspected in our new home. Upon inspection there were cracks found in the front and back panels and they needed to be replaced or they could start a fire (ekk!) Jason was able to quote us a very reasonable price, work was scheduled to be done within a week! So impressed with the final product, JCS fixed a previous problem with the fireplace alignment, replaced the 2 panels, cleaned up after themselves and even took the old panels away for removal! Jason left detailed written instructions on how to cure the fireplace after the new panels were installed. Loved their work so much we recommend JCS to my parents who are now having work done to their fireplace as well!! Reached out to JCS yesterday morning for a level 2 chimney sweep that includes a camera inspection, we have a heatilator as part of our fireplace, and have seen a few small animals in it recently. I also signed up for a dryer vent cleaning. They got back to me promptly and scheduled something for the next day. Ben and Liam arrived on time, and were great guys and professional. They took apart the heatilator and checked for animals as much as they could, they didn't find anything, but did a far more thorough job than the pest removal service I had tried to use previously. They also explained how my fireplace metal box works with the heatilator. They swept the chimney, and said it was clean enough to not have to run the camera down it and charge me money for the service. They found a few cracks in my chimney top, explained why it is a problem, and provided an estimate to repair. They also did a great job cleaning my dryer vent, which is directly below a yellow jacket nest I had treated the same day. I told them they didn't have to worry about the vent because of the yellow jackets, but they did it anyways (without getting stung). Overall, a great experience. read more

They were running early and called to see if it was okay to come by early- uh, yea... lol Did a thorough job sweeping; guess I forgot to do it the year before which was funny; I swore up and down I do it every year... and proceeded to do an assessment of the surround. In Jan. 2021 our dryer threw an error code relating to restricted air flow. We were very pleased to get JCS Home Services out to clean out the dryer duct right away. We were also very pleased with their COVID-19 precautions. They completed the job in about 45 minutes, to include getting up on the roof to where the dryer vent exhausts. The dryer now runs A-OK. I called Jason for chimney sweep however he wasn't able to do his work because we have this out of this world wood stove that has other issues. It's very rare nowadays to have someone come to your house and not charge you if no work was done. I'm so really thankful for him. Contacted about Gutter Cleaning, responded right away, gave quote after looking the house over ( assuming they used Google Maps Street View to view the house ) and gave a reasonable quote, added Dryer Vent Cleaning ( cant be to safe regarding that ) that was also Fair, they had an open date later on that week. they kept me up to date regarding any change in times. Going with JCS was an extremely dissappointing decision that I made. I initially called them to get a chimney sweep, but they said that our chimney looked very clean so we should not get a chimney sweep and they hustled us into getting the "inspection"...the inspection literally took about five to ten minutes and then they took $150. I called the owner back afterwards and I am not sure if he was having a bad day, but he sounded very arrogant and trying to tell us stuff like "I checked the gps, and it said reported that our guys were over there four 24 minutes." What he didn't consider is that those guys sat there after the job was done and could have been eating lunch or on their phones or whatever. Regardless, we payed $140 more than we think we should and will never deal with this arrogant and selfish owner again! read more

Liam and his coworker showed up on time, we very friendly, and explained everything they did. We had been having issues with our brand new dryer auto-shutting off since we got it installed in our new build a year ago. They explained that the flap at the top of the vent on the roof was stuck shut. They fixed it promptly and the service charge for the dryer vent cleaning was far more reasonable than other companies we'd received quotes from.
