Dan's appearance and messaging made me uncomfortable in a home service setting. Had I noticed this before the service began, I would have declined the service and requested a different vendor through Fidelity Home Warranty. Homeowners should be able to make informed choices about who enters their home. Afterward, I reviewed the Yelp page and realized the technician was the owner, Dan. I was given a 1-4 PM appointment window, but the technician didn't show up until 4:30. I had taken time off work and waited all afternoon, so I was understandably frustrated. When I expressed this, he brushed it off and said the job would go quickly -- yet it still took over two hours to complete six locks. Throughout the visit, the technician was rude, dismissive, and clearly in a rush. His demeanor was unprofessional, and the quality of the work reflected that. Within a week, one of the locks began malfunctioning. I reached out, assuming they would stand behind their work, but was told there was no warranty and never responded again. Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing experience from start to finish. If you're assigned this company through your home warranty, I strongly recommend asking for a different provider. Closed on a home and got American home shield as a part of the deal. They recommended this company to rekey our locks for just the 100 dollar service fee. I called June 29 to try and set up an appointment and was told they would contact me later. The warranty company said I would be contacted within a working day or so. I didn't hear back so called at the end of the next day. Which was Friday. The lady said Jason would be in contact soon. Left a message on Sunday. Called Monday July 3rd. The guy said Jason would contact us today. I called the warranty company and found they scheduled me on Sunday between 9and noon and NEVER called me to make an appointment or contact me and had already basically said my call was complete w no work being done. I called and was on hold w the warranty company about an hour. I never received a clear answer. I am hoping o get my hundred back from them. Cannot recommend Dan. May hire another company if we cannot install ourselves. Very disappointed in the service. They also go by realty rekey I believe. I truly wasted much time effort and possibly money w this company. read more

I had some locks that needed re-keying and my home warranty service was really keen on recommending Dan's Pro-Lock to do the job. After an initial consult with whom I presume was Dan and then scheduling through Tiffany, I was finally able to get Justin, who was the technician to perform the service. They were very quick to respond to calls / messages, which is a huge plus. Scheduling something was difficult, seeing as they didn't have availability for nearly two weeks. Being busy is usually a good sign, but it's also not the most convenient for folks who aren't as flexible (or patient) with their time. To make matters more complicated, my technician was a little later than the scheduled window. However, Justin made up for lost time. He was quick with getting things going and was happy to explain everything. A little bit of drilling, screwing and testing, he was finished in a matter of minutes when it came to each lock. It all worked well, which was super nice. Price wise, it was a few hundred dollars for several locks. This isn't surprising per se, but it might present a sticker shock for anyone who isn't expecting it. They were able to take payment on site and were good about ensuring I had an invoice to reference right away. I'd consider Dan's again in a pinch and will be mindful of the time. read more

They only work on Monday- Fri 8am - 2 pm, meaning you have to take at least half a day off if you are doing a 9-5 job. Anyways I took a day off waited at home but no one showed up. We were scheduled for a rekey appointment through our home warranty company. The technician arrived, introduced himself, and then immediately told me that I would have to pay and additional $35. I asked why since I had already paid the $90 deductible. He said it was because one of the locks also had a keypad so it was more complicated. I agreed to the charge, and asked if he had any advice as to how I could reprogram the keypad. I already knew he couldn't actually do it, but thought he might be able to simply give me some guidance on where to start. His response was, "go to you tube". He then began working on the locks and complaining about how difficult they were to remove. He was obviously annoyed and voiced it repeatedly. In the process of removing the front door lock by force, it dropped on our brand new laminate floor and chipped it. He said it was because it was because the lock was hard to remove which was again, "very annoying". I mentioned that it might have been a good idea to protect the floor if it was hard to remove. As he was leaving and still talking about how annoying the locks were, I mentioned that it's also pretty annoying to have a brand new, expensive floor damaged. In the end, he did offer to waive the $35 extra charge to go towards repairing the floor, and to let him know if the cost was more. Our 4 locks were rekeyed and we received 4 new keys. Only 3 of the keys work, but I don't want to pursue anything further with this company. read more

I didn't get a chance to review through Fidelity Home Warranty so reviewing here. We asked to rekey one door through the warranty and the team was able to find someone (Mike) that could come in a couple days before July 4. They were busy but fit us in. There was constant communication and Mike came during the promised time range. He was patient and took time as our door was not as easy as he thought as it had an August lock from the previous owner on it and missing a screw. Mike was very energetic and explained everything he was doing and was able to find a screw so that the August lock doesn't shift around. He oiled the lock as well so turning it is now silky smooth! I also last minute asked him to rekey our mailbox which was outside of our warranty. He explained why our old keys worked so badly and it wasn't the lock's issue. He had a stash of new locks to try out and again it proved to be more difficult than he thought. The new lock is now smooth, not perfect but for a last minute request, he made it happen. read more

Our move coincided with the Memorial Day weekend so it was a bit of a wait to get a locksmith before the weekend started but they scheduled us for right after the holiday and kept us updated of the appointment and their arrival which we appreciated as we had so many things going on with our move. We had a lot of doors and locks to be rekeyed and Rodrigo was patient, nice, professional and friendly. Dan's Pro Lock text reminders were great but there seem to be some confusion as I was getting texts from Realty Rekey stating our appointment had not been scheduled with Dan's Pro Lock but we just ignored those and was glad that everything worked out as it should. They accepted Zelle payment too which made it easier for payment transactions for us. read more

Jaron came to rekey our house, which was great, but when we asked him to take a look at possibly picking a garage door lock, he initiated to drill through the keyhole and couldn't do it in the moment. I was physically with him and watched him do the drilling. We asked for him to come out again and finish the job, and I have been communicating with them for 3 weeks to get it done. All of this information is in the dispatcher text messages. See photos. He even came out once more and gave my spouse a quote to "finish" the job because when he initially drilled through it, he didn't tell us how much it would cost. He then told us we needed to get new locks for the replacement. The 3rd time, dispatcher sends a messages he's on the way. The tracker showed him a corner from my house stuck there for 3 hours. Jaron never showed up, and I wasted 3 hours of work waiting for him. When I called to complain, they said oh, the "manager" was going to refer you to a garage door company. When I asked who would pay for the damages, they were silent and now claim they didn't do it. When they realized their mistake, they bailed. Now Dan is involved. Instead of fixing the problem and trying to find a solution with the client, they called us liars and denied that they initiated that. I have documentation of everything that happened, messages and photos. I'm even tempted at this stage to pull security footage and legally file a claim. These guys may be great at rekeying but they DID DAMAGE my door and claimed they didn't do it. This is shady and dishonest!! Dan's Pro-lock and all his other names, SmartLock United States, Realty Rekey are shady and dishonest. I DO NOT recommend them. If they make a mistake or damage your doors, they WILL CLAIM THEY NEVER DID IT and you'll be screwed because Dan and his guys don't want to own up to their mistake or help pay for damages or fixing it up. Beware and find someone else. The risk is not worth it. They literally messed up my garage door. I would give zero stars at this point. I really wanted to give Dan's Pro-Lock/Realty Rekey/SmartLock (all the same company) a good review. Obviously the security of our home is important. Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience with this company. The locksmith messed up in two ways. On the front door, he re-Keyed it in a way that requires a LOT of strength to unlock it. I always am afraid I will break the key inside the lock because it's so stuck. On another door, he reinstalled the handle with a big gap. In the shuffle of moving in I didn't notice either things right away. When I called later about fixing them, they said I was past the warranty window and I'd have to hire them again at full price. That's extremely extremely frustrating since this was obviously a mistake he made, not something that broke over time. Especially frustrating because their slogan of "our goal is to give you 5 star service" is clearly bs. Be warned - check their service asap and call right away with any problems! read more

Although the independent contractor that was sent out did rekey six locks and provided one copy of the key per lock, Dan's Pro-Lock did not honor the language in my contract with Fidelity National Home Warranty, who they are a service provider through, which states that I am entitled to receive "Re-key of up to six functional keyholes (including deadbolts) and four copies of the new key." I have attempted to resolve this on at least three separate occassions with both Fidelity National Home Warranty, who validated my demands for their contractor to fulfill the language in my contract, and Dan's Pro-Lock, which refuses to do the work as it is contractually stated through Fidelity National Home Warranty. Instead, they tried selling me additional keys, beyond the 4 total that they claim the contract covers (that is not what the contract says), for $5 each. After weeks of inaction, warning other customers about this experience will hopefully allow them to find a different service provider that will honor their contracts. read more

Our home warranty includes a rekey service (up to 6 keys) and send someone from this company. But when the guy came, he told me he can only rekey the front door, the rest of the doorknobs are too old for him to rekey. He offered to sell me three doorknobs for $170 (he said $85 for one and he's throwing the third one for free), which is insane. When I asked him if I could go to a store and buy some myself(about $10 each for the ones his selling), he declined and told me he has somewhere else to be afterwards. He basically gave me two options: either get only one door rekeyed or buy the overpriced doorknobs from him. Since we wanted our side door and front door to share the same key I had to say yes. He was punctual, methodical about his approach to solve locks that we didn't have keys for. This was a Lock Re-key event, and I wanted to have three locks use only a single key. I definitely got what I wanted! Communication was great. The only negative is that they arrived too early! I had planned on seeing them during the time period that stated which was 2 to 6 PM and I work from home so I had a call that was ending at 2 o'clock. The company contacted me at 1:10 to let me know that he would be there at 1:30, and I would not have been available. He texted me when he arrived to let me know he was there and I was on a call.
