Dan's Hamburgers is a South Austin classic. The burgers are always fresh, juicy, and cooked just right, and the fries are some of the best around. Fast, friendly service and a nostalgic atmosphere make it the kind of place you'll keep coming back to. Simple, delicious, and consistently great.

Great place for a cheeseburger. My wife and I ordered the cheeseburger combo...she got the fries and I got the onion rings. The cheeseburgers are cooked on an old seasoned grill, which gives it some extra flavor. The cheeseburgers were cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. The buns were soft and fresh as well as the lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles. The cheese was melted all over the patty. They were really good. The fries were hot and seasoned with just enough salt. The onion rings were sweet, crispy and crunchy and served hot. The meal was delicious. The employees were very welcoming, friendly and polite. The restaurant was really clean and had a nice atmosphere.

I remember when there was just Dan's. Then there was Dan's and Fran's. Now it's just Dan's again, but I'm glad they're still around. Great burgers and fries. Reasonably priced and made to order. Breakfast is great, too!

Austin's best old school burger! It's an austin tradition to eat here. There was a time when Dan's was THE burger. You may have had a handful of choices in the early 80's and Dan's was the reigning king of fresh angus beef burgers. The food and service is always just right. I do miss the salad they removed from the menu during COVID and I don't visit them once a week like I use to, since a salad with my burger is a must (can't eat fries every visit ). I'm not a kid anymore! Gotta stay healthy. The burgers may have a lot of competition these days, but it's still a top 5 burger in Austin and the surrounding areas. It's also less expensive than fast food joints!

Love me some Dan's. I love that you can order at the counter or have table service. Very friendly waitress. Yummy breakfast!

Quick breakfast on the way back to Houston. Great service. The food was good, Dan's is know for the breakfast tacos and burgers. The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly. Potato, egg and cheese taco 10/10: first off, one taco will suffice. Huge portions and very flavorful. The salsa was very good! Ala carte: Bacon, Biscuits and hash browns 10/10

Bacon cheeseburger with sautéed onions and jalapeños. PERFECT!

My burger and curly fries were so tasty! Very pleased! Came out within 10 minutes and was fresh and hot! Thank you for sautéing my onions and preparing the perfect bacon cheeseburger. Mylasia was so helpful taking my order.

Was in the area and wanted to pick something up on the way home and the Dan's sign popped up. Jalapeno Cheeseburger - good quality burger, the cheese was nice and melted, the buns were well toasted, the ingredients tasted fresh overall. Pretty top tier for fast food burgers. Fries - fries were too soggy, and unseasoned. I really should've opted for the curly fries because I accidentally got one of those in my bag of regular fries and it was much better.

I finally made my way to Dan's Hamburgers and now see why this place is an institution in Austin. I won't pretend to know all the gossip from back in the day between Dan's and Fran's but what I can say is walking into this place is like being transported back in time, in the best way. I was not expecting the diner vibes and overall charm this place brought to my day, but it was welcomed! Their staff was very friendly and made it feel a step above the typical fast food ordering experience. Same goes for the food. It's no Jewboys but that's the point right? It's a better, local option compared to your Burger Kings, McDonalds and even (gulp) Whataburgers of the world (TX don't hate me for that last one, but I'm going to Dan's!) I will be back to try their breakfast and would recommend anyone that considers themselves an Austinite to give it a go... after all, it's probably been here long before you!

We are here twice while traveling through Austin! Staff was very friendly. Food was cooked fresh so wait time was a little longer than the usual drive thru experience but that was OK- worth the wait for hot and fresh food! Loved the curly fries! Burger was great!! Diner inspired vibe & decor inside the restaurant. At least hit the drive thru while in Austin - and don't mind the wait! Relax and live in anticipation! (The wait was only about 15 min)

This morning we went for breakfast as we had not been here for breakfast in awhile and it was great. We had western omelette hash browns wheat toast and coffee with biscuits and gravy with sausage and egg. It was hit fresh timely and we were waited on quickly and efficiently. The area was clean and well kept. A great place for breakfast and lunch for sure.

Perfect little dinner spot! What they serve they do well which is burgers and breakfast. It has a cute retro diner feel that I love.

But I enjoy new experiences and menus with eclectic dishes. The menu had few choices for breakfast and I was unsure why it was suggested as a breakfast place. It's actually a good place to eat any time of day! The beautifully decorated patio provided the perfect welcome into their modestly decorated air conditioned restaurant and bar. When I say bar, it's more like a 1950s bar that you can sit at and have a meal at. Although drinks and meals were offered any time of day! The waitress was pleasant and helpful in suggesting add ons with my meal. But being a purist, I wanted to try it as intended. The food arrived in the normal amount of time. When I first saw my mozzarella omelette I was a little surprised! It didn't look anything like what it was described as! Oh well! I thought. Let's give it a try! My taste buds were happily amazed! Could this omelette smothered in mushroom gravy, green "pesto" and bread crumbs be the best omelette I've ever had?! The mushroom tomato gravy was so smooth! Along with the cilantro avocado topping. That tasted more like pesto, gave it the perfect zing! I had wished I the had ordered some toast to dip in the sauce. I could have done without the bread crumbs. But they were easily swept to the side. The amount of mozzarella cheese in this omelette led me to believe it was more of an omelette lasagna than a plain old omelette. This place is definitely a must if you are visiting Austin!

I ordered the migas, and the amount of onions in the dish was overwhelming--so much so that it felt like I had ordered a plate of onions rather than migas. The masa cakes were definitely the standout item and were absolutely delicious. However, the rest of the dish fell short. The sauce was extremely rich, making it difficult to enjoy or finish the meal. That said, the restaurant itself is adorable, and our waiter was fantastic. The service and atmosphere were both great. While this breakfast wasn't a hit for me, I'll still return and stick with favorites like the fried green tomatoes and taquito salad, which were excellent during my previous visit.

It's a small space, with only around eight tables and a tiny kitchen behind the counter. It's a bit hard to locate from outside. There's no big sign on the window indicating the restaurant's name, just a plastic A-frame sign outside the building's doors. When I got there, four of the eight tables were empty but the dirty dishes had not yet been cleared. It took close to 10 minutes for the tables to be bused. Because the kitchen is so small, I'd recommend going up to the counter to order as soon as you get there. I believe you can also place your order online using the QR code on the table, but I didn't try that method. I ordered the lox n found, a toasted croissant roll with smoked salmon, avocado, dill ricotta, arugula, onion, and capers. The menu says it also comes with a side of roasted potatoes, but mine didn't come with that. The sandwich was delicious and filling, so I definitely didn't need them, but I do feel like I didn't get what I paid for.
