First time trying this place! Came around at about 8 A.M. on a rainy day, and they had a good selection of donuts and pastries still available. I ordered a chocolate nut cake donut, a chocolate long john, a regular glazed, chocolate croissant, and a caramel frappucino. They do charge $0.50 extra if you use card and the total is under $10, so bringing cash would be the ideal thing. Service was friendly, and prices are fair. I almost forgot my card and the guy serving me hailed me to pick it up so I don't forget it, which was nice. Onto the things I ordered - I loved all of what I ordered! The chocolate croissant was perfect. Pillowy, not too sweet, good amount of chocolate filling. Donuts were fluffy and the glazes were the right amount. If you are not much of a donut person, you at least need to try the frappucino and liquados (?). They're such a good price, and good quality too! I usually love going to Starbucks, but after coming here I am a convert. Seriously, $2.79? Run to here, don't walk. With this one you can taste the right amount of coffee, cream, and caramel. So much better than any other franchise. I definitely will be back to try their smoothies and Texas donuts when they're available. read more

My housemates put me on to this place when I moved here and how totally awesome it is. First off, the quality and freshness of their donuts is outstanding and always consistent. My favorite donut is the pistachio donut and their chocolate coconut donut, soo good! Their 2 open faced bagel sandwich with bacon, avocado and turkey on melted cheddar cheese and cream cheese, is also my very favorite thing there!!! Their coffee beverages is really good and well priced I think. The last but definitely not least is their really friendly and great customer service. These donuts are no joke! Their menu says they have the #6 (of 25) best blueberry cake donut so I tried one and it was legit amazing. It was lighter than most cake donuts and airy and fragile, with the faintest tang of oil offset by a wonderfully crisp, crunchy donut bottom. I tried my friend's and went back to get one for myself, it was that good. Seriously, give it a shot! I also had the old-fashioned which was an excellent old-fashioned but not a revelation like the blueberry. Come here early because they sell out late morning and then no more donuts! We went around 10:45am on a Friday and there were a measly dozen left, mostly old-fashioneds, blueberry cake donuts, and sprinkles. I hear the early morning line can get long so prepare to wait. It's worth it. I'm not in the area very often but next time I'm back I'll definitely hit up Danny's. That blueberry tho! read more

Almost don't want to write this because more folks may come to buy donuts here. These donuts are the best in N San Diego. Can't speak for S San Diego. I have been coming here for years and everytime me and my family are blown away. So delicious and consistent. Need to come early though as they do sell out. This was the third donut shop I went to because the first two were closed, and I have never been so happy with my luck. This is a true family establishment. From helping me choose donuts for kids to making sure there was the right amount of almond milk in the iced coffee, Danny's Donuts is a must go! Also, the donuts were FANTASTIC! Get an apple betty or you're wasting the infinitesimally small amount of time you have been granted to experience that which we call fried dough. They also have a thing they call a cappuccino. It isn't a real cappuccino so I suspect it is from another dimension. This is a thing that has a slight coffee flavor with a lot of cream and sugar and maybe even some chocolate? What can I say about Danny's Donuts. This is the other donut place that I go to especially for their delicious blueberry donuts as it's a winner in my book. I came in last week for National Boss Day and had to get a dozen for the department. It's a bit steep for a dozen - $11. It is because I had about 4 blueberry donuts in the mix. I'm a big fan of cinnamon roll donuts and good ol fashion chocolate bar so had them get those as well and the rest were random. For my purchase, they offered a free small coffee which I kindly declined. I am notorious in spilling liquids in my car and not a good way to start the day with spilled coffee in the car. Plus I don't clean my car (my husband does) so not going to have him clean spilled coffee. **I tried their pistachio donuts. They're alright. Others have sworn by them. I love pistachios and donuts separately but not together. I would come a lot more but as I don't really indulge in donut eating anymore as much as Homer Simpson. I have been craving a donut for about a week now... I have heard of how good Danny's donuts are and to get their blueberry glazed donut. SO.. I tried it and it was OMG so good. It was fluffy, just the right amount of blueberry and basically tasted like a blueberry muffin but with a donut consistency. The glaze was amazing and not too overpowering. If you're looking a good donutery in NoCo, Danny's Donuts is a good spot to check out. I'm not usually in Vista nowadays, but this place seems pretty new, and I hope it sticks around. The establishment is a small one. You walk up and see what you want in the window, ask the nice ladies, and you walk away with yummy foods. Based on the reviews, the apple betty was on my list. It is a must try. I'd liken it to a bear claw but in a more traditional bar form (with some foldy magic) and a nice cinnamon sprinkle. Unlike most bear claws that have that pre-made, McDonalds apple pie type filling, these things tasted more like real apple pie. Delicious. And the donut texture was just about perfect. Light, soft, and chewy. I know some people might not like them that way. I also got my standard Boston cream. A little sadly, it was on the small side. The custard filling was quite good though. If you're looking to go here sometime soon (early 2016 for future readers), there's a bunch of construction going on, so Santa Fe is one way going east. When you see the sign with arrow pointing to Danny's, turn there or else you'll have to practically make a loop around town to get back. Anyway, a solid 4 with potential. I've driven by Danny's Donuts, well after they closed, many times. Luckily, I remembered my desire to try their blueberry cake donuts early one morning and scooted down to Vista in time to get one. So glad I did! The outside of these donuts are crisp and the inside is moist. The glaze is light, making it a slightly sweet addition. All these things make for the most delicious blueberry cake donuts. After my trip, someone brought blueberry donuts to a church function -- I knew they were from Danny's at first bite. Very easy to find and the options of doughnuts are pretty vast, or to the least they cover all aspects of what type of doughnuts you would be in the mood for. Crueler, old fashion or even a jelly doughnut they got em here! I opted for a chocolate crueler and a maple bar doughnut. Both tasted pretty good but not the best. It's definitely a doughnut shop I'd recommend if you are in the area and worth checking out. They do have outside patio seating since the shop is set up like a lemonade stand. No seating inside and you order through a small window. Coffee is served here as well but I didn't get a chance to try any of them. Danny's is a great experience just for their walk up window. I had to go to Danny's because we needed to get donuts for our early morning Costco merchants. Who else is donut ready at 4 am then Danny's!? So their selection is great. Ranging from the popular blueberry to the simple maple bar. I called ahead of time to make sure they could accommodate 3 dozen donuts. They were externally nice and I hand picked my goodies. Danny's also has a great coffee and a solid menu of other items. Even though Vista has been doing construction for years in this area, it has not deterred the locals from getting in there and keeping them in business. They are always open and always fresh! So I decided to stop by before work today. I did not know they only accepted cash until I was next up in line.
