I don't know how this place is with a REAL bartender, but when I came (3pm Saturday afternoon 6/20/20) with John the bartender, it was horrible. This dude seriously got overwhelmed with a 1/2 full bar and about 4 tables in the seating area. And don't try to have a conversation while he's sitting there with his arms crossed, he'll just look at you like he hates life and hates his job. Definitely the wrong industry for that dude. read more

Perfect pub with outdoor patio accomodating both smokers and non-smokers. Corned beef and cabbage on Wednesdays is great and drinks are VERY reasonable. read more

I got a response from my review from a smoker who said there are dozens of places in the HEB influence that don't allow smoking. Well, for those who are stupid enough to continue to suck on a carcinogen, YEAH, I know that. If Danny's had a sign that said, "HEY, we don't have a non-smoking area, they would have saved themselves the grief of someone like me who doesn't tolerate tobacco smoke well. Most places in/around HEB (and DFW for that matter) have well defined separate smoking/non-smoking areas) Since Danny's doesn't (or didn't when we visited) Danny's suck THIS instead. read more

The smoking is so awful you can't even walk in the front door without the plunge of second hand smoke.

I have never written a review, but this place was so bad that it required feedback. My wife and I were interested in an Irish Pub closer to our neck of the woods instead of needing to drive to Dallas. That was a mistake. The waitress is was one of the rudest people I've ever been "served" by. She was ticked the moment we sat down, frustrated that we wanted a menu, upset to take our order, and then she and the lady in the kitchen complained loudly to the whole place that people wanted food at 8pm. At that point, I went up to the bar, cancelled our order and left. We won't ever go back. Don't bother with this place. read more

My husband and I love to go to Danny's and have a few drinks, and sometimes dinner. It's a great place to kick back and have some fun. The drinks are cheap, and happy hour until 8:00pm. The waitstaff is attentive and super friendly and the bartenders are great. The owners are there every night and seem like good people. The macaroni and cheese with the fajita meat on top is like a dream in your mouth! The age of the patrons varies, so don't worry. You'll fit in no matter what your age. Everybody always seems happy. Some nights they have live music too. Thursday is trivia night, I believe, which can be a little loud, but is also fun. read more

This place is great!!! The drinks are fantastic the food is equally as good, try as much of the food as you can! There is a framed note from Gordon Ramsey telling you to stay out of Danny's kitchen! I love the fact that I can smoke inside to get out of the heat/cold!!! Lastly, if you go there regularly you become part of a family... Danny's & friends got my back! read more

I've been here quite a few times now. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of the smoke, but it's their right to allow it and my right to go elsewhere if I choose to do so. But I love this place so I do sit outside on the patio when the weather permits. Service has always been great! Drinks also are on point! The food has always been spot on! We've had the potato skins, chicken strips, fries, chicken fried steak and the burger. Friends that have gone with us love it all too. We stopped by last week and noticed they have new booths - which look very nice! Amazing specials and the service will keep us going back! read more

I'm not sure why Danny's is only rating 3 stars - I wish I could give them a 4.5 rating, they were ALLLLLMOST perfect and with a few tweaks they'll get a 5 from me. My 19-yr-old and I came in around noon on a Saturday, it was slow but we liked the leisurely pace. We saw some really great/cheap daily specials on a chalkboard right inside the door, but as it was a weekend and not happy hour we couldn't take advantage of them. Got a chance to meet the owner Keith, who was very nice and rightfully proud of his place; he explained why I couldn't buy my son a pint and I respected his position - it never fails that a few bad apples spoil things for everyone else. The fish and chips, Scottish eggs and mashed potatoes were FANTASTIC, and the beer was cold and reasonably priced. The only missteps as far as I was concerned were the Irish Nachos (the waffle fries could have been crispier) and the corn that accompanied my Chicken Fried Steak (it was oddly sour, like it had been sitting in a steam tray too long). I'll grant you there was a pretty distinct smell of 2nd-hand smoke in the air, but it's a BAR - if you can't handle smoke in a BAR, take your business to Dallas. That said, I'll be back again - this time with the hubs for happy hour, on one of the few occasions we get to go out and let our hair down. read more

Walked in ....reeked of 2nd hand smoke. Did not sit down, I hate when my clothes smell after a cold beer. Why open a new restaurant/pub, install all new furnishings, then stink it up in just weeks. I wish I had more to review. Dont tread on me. read more

I enjoyed my visit here, but I wasn't super impressed. I came here one Sunday after church to watch football, have a couple beers, and eat some lunch. If I could give this place 3 1/2 stars I would, but it doesn't quite deserve a 4 yet. I ordered some Irish Red, I don't remember the name but it was pretty good. Also had a shot of Jack Daniels, and two Sam Adams October Fests. Had the 2 filet fish and chips for food. Tab came out to $28. Not bad. Decent beer selection. Wish they had local brews. Really, just more of a selection. Food was okay. I mean, it was fish and chips. The chips were excellent so was the coleslaw which was obviously home made. I can't put my finger on it, but something about the fish batter was just kind of bland and the fish was dry. Maybe a beer batter would be better, or that's just what I'm used to. Even with malt vinegar the fish just tasted bland. With just a couple tweaks this place could be amazing. It's not bad, but also it's not great. Just so-so. Add some beers to your tap and fix the fish batter. Maybe I just came in on a bad day or maybe that's not their specialty. If I come back I'll just order something else next time. But.....great bartender! read more

I actually managed to find this place by looking for a coupon in the Ad booklet we get in the mail each month. Not to mention I had a major hankering for some fish n chips. So, my husband & I decided to go here. We started with their Sheppies for an appetizer which is basically a mini Shepard's pie on top of a potato skin served with brown gravy to dip in...absolutely phenomenal!! I order what I was craving & once again was NOT disappointed! The fish filets are so big I recommend only getting 1 if you eat the Sheppies first lol I had to get a to-go box so I'll have lunch today! The hubs ordered the Rueben (this is not on their menu but rather a special) he said it was on point! We were so stuffed by the time we left we came home & put on our stretchy pants. Oh & $2.50 wells or domestic draft beer everyday noon-8. With the $15% off coupon we spent 28 bux - I think that is a good deal considering we had an appetizer & each drank 1 beer. Can't forget to mention the exceptional service we got - those chicks were hustling! We will definitely be back to try other menu items! read more

Have been here on many occasions. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The drinks are great and cheaper than other bars in the area. Live music on weekends. The food is ok. Over all worthy of 4 stars at most but I gave 5 to offset the clowns giving 1 without ever trying the place. read more

I love the family atmosphere. It reminds me of the neighborhood bar up home. The food is good and plentiful. My son loves the home made chips. Then there is trivia night on Thursdays. It is crowded and you do need to make a reservation because open seating is hard to come by. They do have an outdoor patio that is rather nice and very private. Also Danny's is a Pokestop......how can it get any better. read more

Been here quite a few times now. Was introduced by my friend since she's a regular there, and also by my wrestling friends that do their afterparties there. Best Waitstaff/Bartenders! They work fast, friendly and keep my drinks/food going. Food is awesome! Potato Skins(Huge plate with enough to share, cooked just right, with a side of sour cream) Huge Potato Nacho Plate(don't remember the name of it)(We had 4 people sharing it, lots of food and the waffle fries with all the toppings on top) Friend had Scottish Eggs, Looked good, I didn't try yet cause figured he needed it all after wrestling that night). Fried onions, and other fried things were good but, the stuff above are my faves! Cheap Drinks on Mondays(seriously great prices for Well Drinks, even whisky/coke) Karaoke on Tuesdays I'm not a smoker and on busy nights it does get smoky but, I can always go hang outside then. Seriously fun place, with a lot of seating! read more

Shepards pie pretty good though I didn't think the original recipe had cheese.. Bar usually good I prefer the females there more personable

My 1st time being there and I would like to thank Sylvia your bartender for making me feel welcome and relaxed and your cook for the excellent fried mushrooms. I was going to steak 1 and they were close as I was walking with disappointment on not getting any fried mushrooms. I saw your menu outside your window and that's when I walked in. Thank you so much! read more

If you are looking for a place to drink this is fine. However, I have a beef with this place. I've been wanting to try it for a few months, but negative reviews kept me away. I'm not a smoker, and there are too many reviews stating that the smoke is overwhelming. Today I was outvoted by friends wanting to try something new. The smoke is overwhelming, but the patio was open so we sat there. The patio is not non-smoking, as one reviewer pointed out. My friend ordered a Miller Lite since it was $2. I had read on their website that domestics were $2 on Wednesdays and imports were $3. The only domestics they had were light beers, so I opted for an import. When the bill came I was charged $4.25. When I questioned the waitress (and showed her the DANNY'S CELTIC PUB OFFICIAL webpage) she flustered a bit and said "that's a little misleading. It's actually after 8pm that they are $3." So I said "but the website says Happy Hour is from 2p-8p and on Wednesday's $4.25 for imports." To which she replied "we're trying to correct t that." I posted something on their facebook site. The reply was appaling... "Danny's Celtic Pub: On our flyer it says daily happy hour from 12-8pm $2 wells and $2 domestic drafts. The $3 import draft special starts at 8pm. As posted on our flyer. Thank you!?" I don't know what 'flyer' they reference. I never saw a flyer. But, when you own an establishment that offers a specific price on your official website you need to honor it, or at least apologize for the error. They made no attempt at either. That pretty much sets me off this place. You need to honor your prices. As far as food... Eh. We got fried mushrooms and potato skins. The fried mushrooms were fine, no complains there. The potato skins were NOT warm and the bacon was way over cooked. I wouldn't look for this as a place to eat, but as far as bar food is concerned it isn't inedible. I would prefer Flip's or some other place to sit and eat and drink withy friends after work. The wait staff, eh- again. She was a bit slow and let's not forget the fact that she didn't even offer to check on honoring the happy hour special listed on the official web page. I give it 2 stars, no more no less. You'd have to buy my beer to get me to go here. They won't get my money again. Too many places in the HEB-Grapevine area to go to with far more stellar food and service to choose from. I won't return... read more

Started to go in...ours senses were assaulted with the smokey stench permeating the entry...went to twisted root instead.

I kept seeing this sign saying pub.I've past it up several times I finally decided to stop in and see what this place was all about.I went in sat down waited for someone to come to my table and finally someone did.I ordered a beer and the fish and chips.as I was waiting for my food I looked around and was checking out the place.pretty nice little place.you have a few booths to sit in a decent size bar and quit a few tabels in this place.along with four good size tvs a jukebox and a stage in the back.this place is not huge by all means but far from small.after checking the place out and watching the rangers choke my food came to the table.the fish was nice and hot so I let it cool off for a min then dipped it in some tarter sauce took a bite.it tasted good had no complaints about the fish.the fries were not bad but weren't great and the coleslaw just wasn't very good.it just had no flavor to it.it seemed like it needed something.after I finished my meal I sat there and drank a couple of beers which were only two bucks each which was nice.but as I was sitting there drinking my beer I forgot you could smoke in this bar.it wasn't bad when I first walked in but alot of people started smoking at the bar and my table was pretty close and I just had to finish my beer and head out as I was getting irritated by all the smoke.what it comes down to is,this is a nice little place and I would consider comming back but I think the smoke may keep me away. read more

A group of us come here about once a week after work. You can't beat the prices or the service (we love Sylvia!). We've tried a lot of the food menu and it's the good kinda of greasy bar food. My favorite are their home made potato chips dipped in their spicy ranch. Our group also regularly orders fried bologna sandwiches, wings, tenders, macaroni, and potato skins. This is also one bar where I'll actually drink liquor because I don't feel like I get short poured (happy hour starts at noon and lasts til 8!) The ONLY downside is we only come when the weather allows, as we sit on the patio to avoid the amount of smoke inside. All in all this place is awesome and definitely worth a visit. read more

Smokers everywhere. I was only in there a few minutes to pick up a to go order and I could still smell it in my car. Gross. I ordered the Shepard's pie. All I could taste was salt and garlic. Nothing else. And the dish itself...just meat potatoes and cheese. That's it. No carrots. No corn. No peas. Il could have made a better Shepard's pie at home...I just didn't have any of the stuff. Hence why I went out. This place is only getting an extra star cause of their service. The waitstaff was friendly and really great. They called me when my food was ready to let me know. Great people! Their food...not so much. I guess people go here more for the drinks than the food. read more

We're excited to have a bar so close to home, and have been twice since they opened. Nice people, nice place, and it has a patio which is a plus. Haven't tried the food yet but I heard a customer say the Scottish Eggs were good. Good drink specials too. $2 PBR every night; Thursday $3 Crown and down; Happy Hour every day from 2-8. A few points/suggestions: *Get rid of the juke box, and spend the money on a good sound system where you can play music tailored to your venue. *Don't stack wet glasses on the counter. There should be a bar mat under ANY glassware on the counters, plus the fact that when you stack them wet, it gives bacteria a place to breed. *We saw some girls drinking behind the bar and heard one badmouthing the owners. We'll go back because we want to support local business, and two of the main bartenders give great service. Also like the owners - nice people. read more

I have visited Danny's four or five times over the last few months, always around 430-5pm on a weekday. I have them on my Facebook and get occasional notifications. Today I posted a number of comments on their Facebook page, as follows: 1. When I have eaten there, the food was particularly sub standard. My fish and chips portion was ridiculously small, and my friends baby shepherds pies were not fantastic, and may have been the cause of an all night upset stomach and sickness. 2. Whenever I have been, the live music has been ear-bleedingly loud. Regardless of the number of customers. The performers I have seen have been pretty dismal too. 3. The Facebook posts I receive are littered with spelling and grammatical errors. Come on guys. You are promoting your establishment and can't spell check, let alone spell Danny's with a capital D or an apostrophe? The result of my Facebook postings on their wall and on their recommendations page? All posts deleted. No response or questions or apology. Clearly Danny's do not appreciate negative feedback, have no wish to cultivate existing customers, and do not even have the manners to respond. And what is the idea of having a smoking bar and a non smoking patio??? Neither myself nor my friends will be returning. read more

It has been awhile since I've been to Danny's and even longer since I've eaten there. Today I stopped in for lunch and sat at the bar. The place was not crowded although there was one large table of 10 or 12. I ordered the fish & chips which comes with cole slaw. The fries were the best part. The slaw was OK but a little sweet for my taste. The fish batter was fine, but the fish was chewy and rubbery, it should be flakey. The fillets were good size and there were plenty of chips so there are no complaints about the portion size. It took at least a half hour after ordering for my food to show up. The excuse was that they had a big group order, but those folks were already served before I ordered. I actually think the cook was on break. I also had a couple of draft Guinness Stouts, they were fine. This will probably be the last time I eat here. A couple of years ago, I had the worst Reuben sandwich of my life. The corned beef was big fatty chunks rather than lean slices. If an Irish pub can't do excellent fish & chips and corned beef, there is little hope for the other menu items. This is a friendly place and fine for a happy hour or drinks after dinner. Several TVs, darts and live music some nights. There are lots of regulars. Smoking is allowed so if that bothers you, be forewarned. read more

I'm here every week for $1 Monday, but this will be my last. I witnessed a table throw around a few racial slurs towards the people in front of them and were heard. One of the guys got close, politely and quietly telling him that it wasn't cool while a girl from the table gets up in his face and causes a scene. "Security" Brant is a joke!!! And sorry to say but he's a rude little prick. Even after explaining the situation, and the guys going up to the table to shake their hand and calm the situation, Brant wanted to be a tough guy and kick them out. My advice to the owners of Danny's...get rid of this kid. This isn't the first I've heard and seen him do things that aren't appropriate. Racism should never be allowed and this can get you in serious trouble. Shame on you. And on another note...where the heck was the service? I will say that the food here is pretty good, there's live music, karaoke, good crowd for the most part, etc. The staff here just sucks aside from a couple. I hope the owners learn of this situation and correct this. read more
