Communication was poor, paperwork was never left under the doormat and results were not submitted to the water district until I contacted her multiple times. After numerous emails over the past week, I was forwarded the paperwork which had "sample" written on it. My address also appeared to have a 4 where there should've been a 9. I was told that it was correct and submitted to the district. Upon calling the district, there wasn't a record of it. All submissions are done online and there are things in place to make sure addresses are correct. I contacted Linda again and was forwarded a screen capture of the submittal of test results. The test date was incorrect since she had come the day before. Results were not submitted until they were a week past due. I am still not sure if she actually tested since she was questioning whether or not she tested the right house.

For Pacific Trenchless aka Budget Sewer Inc. - Another plumbing company came out to address a…read morebackup in our basement sink but ran into trouble getting the snake through due to roots and debris. After running a camera, they identified a serious blockage. To clear it, they said it would require cutting a hole in the deck, digging down 9 feet over an 8-foot stretch, and quoted $12,500 just to clear the blockage. If the pipe was in bad condition, they recommended installing a sleeve--if salvageable--or potentially replacing the pipe entirely, which would cost significantly more. I decided to get four bids, and they varied widely, ranging from a few thousand to over $22,000. These estimates included clearing the blockage and, in some cases, adding a sleeve. Budget Sewer gave a fair initial quote that didn't include the sleeve, but once they opened things up, it was clear the sleeve was necessary. I ended up paying just over $14,600, and I believe it was a fair price for the work done. They started at 7:45 a.m. on a Tuesday and finished by 10 a.m. Thursday. They did an excellent job removing and reinstalling the deck--something none of the other bids included--and left the area clean and looking just as it did before they started. I would absolutely recommend Aiden and his team. They were punctual, hardworking, and very professional throughout the entire process.

Was it because I got ahead of the game and had it replaced proactively? Possibly, but I have a feeling pacfic trenchless/budget sewer is just a good outfit. Multiple friends and neighbors have had to have their side sewers repaired and time and time I've been regaled with horror stories; bills well into five figures, escalating prices once the job is underway, broken concrete walkways, yards destroyed. I see further evidence of that walking around the neighborhood. However-- These guys obviously know what they are doing. The sod was neatly removed--and stacked--from where they dug the hole in my front lawn now the job has been completed you can barely tell the lawn was disturbed because they knew how to put it back in order. To access the cast iron exiting the house everyone (including Aiden when we walked the job) wanted to break through the walkway and patch. However once the crew started work they were able to excavate next to and then under the walkway, prop it up from underneath and did their work so you can't tell anything happened. At the end of each day they left the job site nicely organized--and as clean as holes in the ground can be. No shiny new trucks, no advertising, and not a plumbing company. These guys aren't flashy but are experts in their field.

Thanksgiving afternoon I headed down to the shower in the basement (aka "dad's shower") only to…read morestep into the utility room and a large puddle of brown water covering the floor from one end of the room to the other. Panicked, I glanced at the utility sink and sure enough, it was overflowing with water from the washer next to it, as well as the dishwasher and kitchen sink located one floor above. What a mess. Immediately I shifted into recovery mode, turning off all water sources which were draining to that main drain and declared all hands on deck. I grabbed the shop vac as my wife and son worked to soak up water with towels and the mop. The turkey was going to have to wait! An hour and a half later, we were able to declare the utility room and adjoining bedroom, with its soaked carpet, at least clean enough that we could continue with getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner. Thank goodness for hard eggnog, otherwise I don't know if I would have been able to relax at all that night. The next morning I was off to The Home Depot to pick up drain cleaner, Capture and a new (deeper) utility sink to replace the relatively shallow sink which we had been living with for years. The Capture went down on the wet carpet to try to dry it out (along with three fans running continuously.) The utility sink went in relatively easily, but that damn drain wouldn't unplug no matter what I tried, including the half bottle of Instant Power Hair and Grease Drain Opener and numerous attempts to snake it out with my light duty snake. By mid-afternoon I had spent the entirety of the day continuing to clean the mess and attempting to open the drain and, things were getting tense in the house. Have I mentioned that out of town company was arriving that evening for the weekend? Ugh! Finally, out of desperation and a desire for marital harmony, I acquiesced to getting a plumber over to clear the drain and called Lake City Plumbing who I had used once before several years ago. Bob answered the phone and I walked him through the issue and what I had already attempted. He asked if I needed someone to come over today and I said "Yes, please". "No problem", he replied. "I'll have dispatch give you a call as soon once we know when we can have someone over." Thank you Bob. We hung up and within 10 minutes I had a call from the dispatcher who told me there was someone in the neighborhood already who could be there immediately. I asked about cost and she said that there was no cost up front and that when the plumber arrived he would look at the job and provide an estimate at that time. There was no pressure to accept the estimate. If we didn't want him to do the work, he would simply be on his way. And with that we hung up and almost instantaneously there was a knock on the door. Now that's service! The plumber introduced himself (unfortunately I cannot remember his name) and I showed him the clogged pipe. We talked about what I had already tried and he explained that his rates were $75 for the first 15 minutes and $40 per 15 minutes after that. These jobs, he stated, usually take less than a half hour. I gave him my OK to proceed and he went out to his van and returned with an industrial electric snake. It took all of 5 minutes to clear the clog in the drain using that snake. Amazing what the right tool can do! We tested the drain for several minutes and there was no backup at all. I wrote him a check and he was on his way. From the time I had called Lake City Plumbing to the time the work was done was maybe a half hour. And to think I had spent hours screwing around trying to do the work myself. There's a lesson there. Leave the work to the professionals: Lake City Plumbing. Fast, courteous, professional, honest. Five stars, hands down.

The the plumber showed up 2 days later right on time at 9 in the morning. He took care of the job quietly and quickly, then offered explanations and advice to expand my very limited knowledge of pipes, valves, and other foreign sounding words. I didn't hear a single utterance of profanity, nor was I subjected to even a centimeter of PB (plumber's butt). The bill was $383 including the cost of the new garbage disposal and tax. The work is guaranteed for a year, demonstrating LCP's confidence and integrity. As a waiter that can barely tell the difference between a saw and a hammer, paying this reasonable amount to get it done right was a no-brainer. Thanks LCP

They sent it to the wrong place and it took almost 3 months to get the repair done, the whole time we had no hot water. I called over and over and kept being told the manager was working on it. Then it went to an AI voicemail service. I went to their office and found it is a vacant office. I had someone else call and they answered for a while but still no part. Then she was sent to the AI voicemail- clearly dodging our calls. I finally had to call from a 3rd phone and they said they would overnight the part. Didn't happen. Two weeks and 3 calls later, they got the part, but charged us $532 where the part should have been under warranty. He said it was because he had to pay for the part that should have been free. If they had ordered the part to them in the first place that wouldn't have happened. I would have just gone with someone else, but the part had to be ordered by the company that ordered it apparently. They are having me send the payment to someone's home instead of an office. Clearly that's because they don't have one and why they didn't have the parts sent to them. Be wary!
