For Pacific Trenchless aka Budget Sewer Inc. - Another plumbing company came out to address a backup in our basement sink but ran into trouble getting the snake through due to roots and debris. After running a camera, they identified a serious blockage. To clear it, they said it would require cutting a hole in the deck, digging down 9 feet over an 8-foot stretch, and quoted $12,500 just to clear the blockage. If the pipe was in bad condition, they recommended installing a sleeve--if salvageable--or potentially replacing the pipe entirely, which would cost significantly more. I decided to get four bids, and they varied widely, ranging from a few thousand to over $22,000. These estimates included clearing the blockage and, in some cases, adding a sleeve. Budget Sewer gave a fair initial quote that didn't include the sleeve, but once they opened things up, it was clear the sleeve was necessary. I ended up paying just over $14,600, and I believe it was a fair price for the work done. They started at 7:45 a.m. on a Tuesday and finished by 10 a.m. Thursday. They did an excellent job removing and reinstalling the deck--something none of the other bids included--and left the area clean and looking just as it did before they started. Aiden and his crew did a fantastic job for a far more reasonable price than I've heard from other who have had a side sewer replaced. Was it because I got ahead of the game and had it replaced proactively? Possibly, but I have a feeling pacfic trenchless/budget sewer is just a good outfit. Multiple friends and neighbors have had to have their side sewers repaired and time and time I've been regaled with horror stories; bills well into five figures, escalating prices once the job is underway, broken concrete walkways, yards destroyed. I see further evidence of that walking around the neighborhood. However-- These guys obviously know what they are doing. The sod was neatly removed--and stacked--from where they dug the hole in my front lawn now the job has been completed you can barely tell the lawn was disturbed because they knew how to put it back in order. To access the cast iron exiting the house everyone (including Aiden when we walked the job) wanted to break through the walkway and patch. However once the crew started work they were able to excavate next to and then under the walkway, prop it up from underneath and did their work so you can't tell anything happened. At the end of each day they left the job site nicely organized--and as clean as holes in the ground can be. No shiny new trucks, no advertising, and not a plumbing company. I tried Budget Sewer last fall for preventive work. Recently I called in my regular plumber on a separate issue, and found out that Budget had failed to complete part of the scope of work. I submitted two complaints to Budget and got no response. Now I'll be paying to have the scope completed by a more reliable company. Very disappointed. read more

I got multiple bids. Budget Sewer was most competitive (half the price of another contractor), had a solid understanding of our 100 year old sewer system and did a spectacular job with installing a brand new sewer. The process was trenchless and they left the yard in the same condition as what they found it Total time taken was probably around 4 days and we were unable to use our sewer for about 3 hours in total. Note that this company does sewer bursting instead of lining. Both methods have their pro's and cons, so be sure to do your research. I preferred the idea of getting a brand new sewer pipe instead of lining the existing one, so this worked out great in my case read more

Paul is the best. I gathered 2 other bids before he was referred to me (by a friend in Ballard) and both were WAY more. They took hours to come out, take video (which they charge for regardless of whether or not you go with them) and assess the situation - which was not really out of the norm as far as sewer replacement. Both warned me that they would have to tear out part of my fence, remove shrubs and sod from yard and I would be responsible for replacing it. Not Paul. He came out on a moments notice - and was even early! Looked at the other videos, read their bids and quoted a price that was refreshingly less. The whole meeting took about 10 minutes. The work started while I was out of town on international travel without the check book. I let him know and he very patiently waited a month for payment without charging late fees. When I got home everything looked great! The Budget Sewer team managed to get the job done WITHOUT tearing out the fence, they put the sod back over the holes and even secured the shrub that had to come out during the process so that it doesn't blow over this winter before it can take root again. Unfortunately my wife and I had an unpleasant experience using budget sewer. We purchased an old home, had it scoped by a reputable contractor that is not affiliated with a repair company so we could get honest estimates on the longevity of the existing lines and a repair cost. We called Budget and agreed on a time to meet. On the appointment date they were over 30 minutes late and did not call, so I contacted them I had to leave. When we did meet it was somewhat difficult communicating with the employee about the logistics of the repair. The repair bid did fall on the high side of the previous independent estimate. After a verbal agreement on the repair and a general cost, there was no other communication. We did not know when the job would start, finish, the final cost and who to write the check to after the work completed. I left a voicemail and many emails, I eventually gave up and contacted another employee to talk to his coworker on my repair job. I eventually get a call that before they complete the work I need to get more repaired at a cost of $7K not on the initial bid. I ask why and the response was that the line has less than two years of life left and will cost another $4K on top of the $7K if they fill the hole and have to reopen it in the future. I'm now concerned, so I call back the independent contractor who admittedly stated again the line has 10+ years and I have a DVD video of the line scoped for evidence. I'm writing this review so you don't get blind-sided and I would recommend getting an independent assessment before using Budget. read more

Here's the deal. If you're currently reading sewer repair reviews on Yelp, things aren't going very well at your house. I know the feeling. Just call Paul at Budget Sewer. Please. Just call him, schedule them. Get your sewer fixed. Move forward with your homeowning life. No other company in Seattle has the knowledge (or the honesty) that you'll get from Budget. We spent too long working with other companies, thinking it was normal to fix one section only to have another problem a bit further down the line a few months later. Every company seems to reach their sales goals by identifying the problem and fixing a 2 foot patch, just so they can come back, dig a new hole, and fix the next two feet, nickel and diming Seattle homeowners sewer foot by sewer foot for years. Budget Sewer will come and fix the entire problem, top to bottom. They are courteous, pleasant, HONEST, and get the entire job done correctly the first time. If Budget Sewer gives you a quote that is higher than what you got from another company, check the scope. The problem is probably in the other bid. Paul saved us from needing multiple $20K fixes on a shared line because he actually understood the problem and knew that it was bigger than what the other guys were trying to do. Honestly, with all of the sewer-horrors we have had, the fact that they have also been reliably more affordable than other bids almost feels like a secondary point. Budget Sewer is the right company for you if you need sewer line work done for the best price. Budget Sewer replaced all of my drain lines with the exception of the larger pipe run before it connects to the city line. They do great work, and although your drain is never unavailable for more than an hour or so, it can take a few days to a week for them to accomplish the job. I'm sure that they would do work in a hurry if necessary. Some plumbing companies will converge a gaggle of people and equipment and work in a flurry, but you'll pay a ton extra for that. Budget Sewer left our yard in fine shape; neighbors were surprised how our yard quickly went from torn up to being back to normal. All that really suffered was the lawn, but it was real bad to begin and we told them we didn't care about the lawn. When they dig a hole, they don't lay down hundreds of square feet of 6 mil black plastic, then pile the dirt on top as some companies do. I had some work done by another company with this method, and when the plastic was picked up the next day I had wilted half-dead plants and a whole bunch of plastic trash they had to haul away. When Budget Sewer came out just a few weeks later to replace all my lines, they ended up piling the dirt on the same plants, but without the plastic, and left it there for a week, *however* the plants looked good as new when they were uncovered: happy plants, happy consumer and no plastic trash! You might be able to negotiate with them to do some some work yourself (such as digging shallow areas, if any). Also, their phone book ad says they will beat any quote by 10% (though I suspect they're rarely underbid). After talking to a number of friends who have had quotes for sewer work, it seems that the industry price is $1000 to $1500 per deep hole, plus $3000 per sewer drain line. Further, it seems that there isn't detail in any plumber's numbers: it's just a big price tag and you just figure that dealing with sewage and deep holes in the ground demands a premium. These guys seem to really know their line of work well. I had my sewer line marked by another company and Budget Sewer said part of the marking (the 4" to 6" join location) was wrong based on their experiences. Turns out that Budget Sewer was right on with where they said the join really was. Their personality might not be a match for some people as they're quite straight-forward in their communication, but once business is done they setting back into conversation. They don't drive fancy panel vans stocked with inventory, and the tools of their trade are minimal. They rely on and honor verbal agreements but will write down the bid if asked. I wouldn't hesitate to call Budget Sewer again. read more

I'm so happy my neighbor recommended Paul from Budget Sewers. He saved me $10,000 on my sewer repair from my home to the the main sewer line in the street. And his employees were efficient and cleaned up so well that I couldn't tell they had been there. Another telling sign of a good employer is that at least one of the workers has been working for Paul fo 15 years. Check out the rest but come back to the best! After getting four quotes, these guys came in second cheapest but I preferred their attitude. Two Irish guys, everything done by word of mouth and shake of the hand. ;-) I have to say, when we got quotes, the average job time was supposed to be four days, or thereabouts. Fair enough, I though, given the fact that there was a lot of digging and tunneling to be done... But, they arrived at 7:00AM and were done, two holes, new sewer line pipe-burst through the old line, tested, city inspected and approved and all done by 11:30 the same day!!!! I was stunned. Paul is the boss chap and if you're prepared to deal cash, the price gets even better... We only ran a new line from the side of the house outflow to the edge of our property line, and not into the larger pipe (which is city property). The run was about 80 feet and if we have to deal with the city pipe later, we'd probably go with a pipe-liner and not dig it up (which gets exceedingly expensive thanks to the City Of Seattle and their gold-gloved contractors). read more

Paul Honeyman and his guys are great! Not only was their quote significantly lower than the 3 others we got, but they were really great to work with! We had to replace our entire side sewer because of multiple collapses and these guys really knew what they were doing These guys have crazy Irish accents and are really straight forward and down to earth. They do business the old fashioned way. They give you a verbal quote and let you decide on your own time and give them a call you want to get the work done. They pull permits fast and get the work done quick. (1 day of digging, 1 day of replacing the entire line & cleanup) Paul didn't ask for any money up front, and didn't even collect the day they finished. Hecame back a few days later to make sure everything was working properly and that we were happy and to collect payment. If you have to go through the stress of replacing a side-sewer or getting other sewer work done, then go with these guys! You won't regret it. read more

I called Budget at 7:00 this morning because our side sewer was backing up through the drain in our basement floor. Budget was at the house less than three hours later and took care of the problem by jetting the sewer line. Their fee was comparable to others who have done hydro on our side sewers. I knew that I'd have to have the line replaced. I'd already had one estimate for $20,000. About three years ago I had the other side sewer line replaced for $16,000. So Budget (Paul? Irish accent) quoted me $10,000 to replace the second side sewer line. He's got the job! read more

About 1.5-years-ago, we used Budget Sewer on our home to repair our line... ...my review of that experience is below (and I still stand behind it)... ...however, one of my businesses is Real Estate Broker, and recently, have had less-than-desirable experiences with Budget Sewer. Representing Buyers, I recommended they contact Budget Sewer for their inspection scoping. On one home we were going after, they apparently couldn't make it, so they sent another company in their place. Odd? Yes. But the company they sent was great. We unfortunately did not get awarded that home. So, on another home (yesterday), Budget Sewer agreed to a 12:01pm inspection. At 12:15pm, my Buyers called them to see where they were, and they explained that they had already been out to the home earlier that day, and explained everything to the Sellers. This is NOT how it's done. So, we had to apologize to the Sellers for the disruption (as they work from home). But back to Budget Sewer, we got the "report" (which was a four-line invoice saying what needs to be done), and a YouTube video of the scoping (the next day). Again, NOT how it's done. It is nice to have the scoping done with the Buyers present, so that they can hear first-hand about what you're seeing during the scoping, the severity of the situation, etc, etc. Finally, when my Buyers asked about the $25 discount that is stated on their website, Budget Sewer said "Not today". I'm sorry, but this is a complete "180" from my experience 1.5-years ago. Will I recommend Budget Sewer to future Homebuyers for their sewer scoping? Absolutely not. Will I recommend Budget Sewer to Homeowners needing sewer work done? My experience with them 1.5-years ago was fantastic, so it's hard NOT to recommend them. They do fantastic work. So, I'd say invite them out, and if they work with your personality, then great... ...its obvious that customer service is not a strong suit... ...but their workmanship is. Total Rip off. They did a sewer repair, charged 2K more than they should 3K instead of 1K), wanted cash and did not do a legal job. No backflush valve which is required. You want a basement full of sewage? Go with them and save a few bucks so you can clean your basement up later on. They hooked up a drain spout to the sewer line and did not put in a p-trap. As a result the sewer was off gassing into the gutter. I had to redo the entire job. Oh yeah did I mention the concrete pipe to PVC connection? Just pushed together and left leaking. Guys are some irish tough guys that can do the job quick, under the radar and WRONG. The owner comes in makes a bid, call you"Sonny O", comments that you must have money, then hires some cheap labor Hispanic guys to dig the whole but know nothing about plumbiing. Better to get a plumber that can do sewer work. Don't hire a Sewer guy, find a plumber that can work with you. These guys are as bad a re-pipe. If the City of Seattle inspector saw their work, they would have you pull it out completely and for a very good reason. read more

AMAZING customer service, quick work. My sewer line in my 1926 QA started to back up in the basement and we had the line hydro every 12 months for 4 years. I did this because I did not want to dig up the entire rear yard to replace the line. The last time, the line was falling apart and it had to be replaced. I had 3 bids and 1 company never responded 1 Best Plumbing completed blew me away telling me it would be 20k and I would probably have to tear up the alley. I felt they were praying on me because of my BAD BAD BAD situation. I was naturally FREAKING OUT because I needed my sewer line. By accident I went to call Best Plumbing and accidentally called BUDGET and they picked up... said they would be right over. They said they could reline the old line and not touch any of my backyard. LONG STORY SHORT... it was half the cost, twice as fast It was Thursday and my wife and I were going to stay at a relatives that weekend to have sewer. They started Friday morning at 7am and left Saturday coming back Sunday for a final inspection and city inspection on Monday. I cannot say enough positive about the way these guys work. After all was said and done, many of the contractors were scared off by our project. Besides Budget, two other contractors gave us bids: $14,000 and $18,000. Budget got the work done for $9,000. Straight shooters. No frills. They know their trade. So I'm in the middle of my remodel in Ballard, and I'm adding additional square footage in my back yard. I'm digging an 8 foot deep, 15 x 36 hole. I get down to my old drain pipes. These have to go. Sure, they still work, but they're the old concrete pipes and they've had to be cleaned out on more than one occasion (roots and such). I can't refresh the whole house, and leave them in play. So I call Budget Sewer. They gave me a quote. Talked me through some principles for drainage (2% grade!, 45 and 30 degree turns!). I get my new foundation + footings poured (with new drain pipe stemmed out), and they knocked out the work in no time. read more

Budget Sewer came by the house for an estimate. Arrived 30 minutes late and took a quick look at the work. The estimator immediately recommended pipe bursting to replace the entire line. The price was reasonable for the work, I believe, though an expensive job. Before proceeding, I hired a company to scope the line to give an impartial recommendation. They discovered bellies and settling in my line that would have made pipe bursting a terrible idea. So, price is not everything. read more

These guys were awesome, Paul came out on THANKSGIVING to check out our sewer break location to make sure we could safely use our plumbing since we had a houseful of guests. It wasn't a major emergency, so they fixed it the next Monday, came back and scoped it for free with a video on Tuesday and were on their way. Budget Sewer has very strange business practices. I needed to replace my main water pipe that is running under the driveway. I called them for an estimate. They quoted 2500$ over the phone. I got a bid from another company that gave me a proposal on paper. I called Budget Sewer and asked them if they could give me a proposal on paper which details what services they will do. That seemed to upset the guy I talked to. He asked me why I needed that. I said I wanted to know what I'm getting. For instance, will it be in a sleeve? I guess this questioning upset him even further. And he hanged up on me. I was so surprised that I called him back, thinking we got disconnected. It was not an accident, and he said that he didn't want to take the job anymore. I can see that they prefer to deal verbally, but I don't get why someone could be so rude when asked for a standard proposal. He didn't want to come over and look at the place at all. Maybe they are not after home owner's business, etc. But if someone is that unprofessional, I would be very cautious handling them any business. read more

Saw a Budget Sewer truck stop in front of my home in Seattle this morning. I thought he was going to work on one of my neighbors sewer lines. Turns out he just wanted to use the Porta-Potty that I had rented for the construction being done on my house. I guess he couldn't drive another two blocks to a gas station. I called Budget Sewer and he said I should have gotten the guy's name...at 7:30 am while still in my bathrobe. I wouldn't hire a company like Budget Sewer that doesn't respect other peoples property and thinks that other's should pay for their crap removal. They are a sewer company. They can pay to remove their own crap! There are trespassing laws in this state. Makes you wonder if they follow the law when it comes to their own work, like pulling permits? read more

Do not hire these guys! They are not budget priced by any means. They low-balled the intitial offer, then came back and charged by $3000 over the competitors bids once the job was half done. Then they threatened liens and a collection agency 9 business days after sending the bill, even though I had already paid the initital quoted price. Two years ago we had Budget Sewer replace our sewer line from the house to the street. They were very professional, and did an excellent job. Recently, a sinkhole developed in the front yard where they had run the line causing our rock wall to sag. I called Paul and he said he'd come fix it. Paul could have easily said it's not his problem, but he came back and filled in the hole and fixed the retaining wall at no charge. Would definitely recommend working with them. read more

Not recommended...spoke with the owner Paul on the phone and he gave me a date that he would be stopping by my job site. He asked for an email with the job details, which I forwarded off immediately after the phone conversation. No reply to the email, called to confirm our meeting and he asked for a text with the address (which was in the email that he probably never read) so I sent that. No response to text and never showed or called to reschedule. Called the next day and he told me he's on a big job and doesn't have time....Waste of my time, and totally unprofessional. I am a project manager and had to drive over an hour to get to this "meeting". I totally understand what it's like to have too much work on your plate, however that is no excuse to no call/no show. If you don't want the headache of dealing with flakey contractors like this find someone else. read more

Should be called Great Value Sewer. They had a great price and did a great job. Had to make three holes in my lawn, but dug up and replaced the sod as nicely as can be done. Also packed the dirt with a machine, so it does not settle a lot, as it will do if you just throw the dirt in the hole. Paul is very low key and casual, but showed up on time and finished on time. His crew was very friendly and polite and explained some things i was worried about, like pulling the pipe around a 90-degree bend. Seemed to work fine. Cannot imagine a better experience, except never to have had a sewer line fail due to aging of old concrete pipe and attack by tree roots in the first place. Pipe bursting pull through is the way to go. Paul says it should last 100 years. I won't have to worry about that. You never think about how important your sewer line is until it stops flowing. read more

I called Budget Sewer and spoke to their owner, Paul. I had a bad blockage in my sewer which I was concerned might be something worse than a blockage because just yesterday I had a different plumber/sewer guy come out and work for 2.5 hours snaking out the drain without success. He suggested that the blockage was in the city sewer since he took his snake way beyond my property line. $438 later and still no working sewage, I called Paul. He said he'd be here (I live in Ballard in an 100 year old house) in 10 minutes and he actually was! Within 30 minutes the blockage was broken up, or whatever the term is, and the drains were running smoothly. I will not hesitate to recommend this excellent company.
