Jafco Plumbing had previously done two plumbing/sewer jobs for me at a reasonable cost and I had…read morepaid for a membership to get discounted services in the future. So, when I needed new hot and cold water inlet valves installed before the delivery crew would install my new washer, I called Jafco and made an appointment. The basic fee for a service call was quoted as $180. The Jafco plumber, Leif Storkersen, came as scheduled, looked at the job, and wrote up an estimate. I was stunned to see the cost: $691.38! When I expressed my astonishment and dismay, he explained that they had a minimum job cost, so the price was the total of their minimum job cost plus the two valves, plus tax. I accepted this outrageous bid because I figured that I was on the hook for the service call and because of the time pressure--the washer delivery was scheduled for the next day. Yes, Jafco successfully installed excellent new spigot valves, but I doubt very many plumbers in Seattle would charge almost $700 for barely a half hour of work and a few dollars in parts.

We had an…read moreemergent issue in our kitchen (two connected sinks that lead to a line that connects out of the house through a powder room); one of the sinks was blocked, and the other needed a new disposal installed. Moe called us back right away when we contacted him about the blocked sink on a weeknight, arrived promptly the following morning (after offering very kindly to come out that night if we needed him to!), and diagnosed our problems. He and his partner worked efficiently and cleanly to get the sink line cleared, and then came back two days later to replace the seized-up disposal unit. Knight Rooter's pricing was fair and transparent -- Moe explained the costs of parts and labor clearly, and answered our questions with direct information (as opposed to some other companies we've dealt with in the past). They carefully figured various issues (broken pipe on one downspout, a piece of downspout logged in another pipe and remaining kinds clogged), carefully fixed the issues and then ran the pipes clean to ensure everything worked and no new issues cropped up. They were quick and neat and reasonably priced especially compared to other companies who quoted just a one fix of a pressure wash which in our case would have caused more damage.
