Do not use them!
I had these folks install my air conditioner a few years ago and was very satisfied. I used them recently for a furnace cleaning and couldn't have been more disappointed. I called them to see if they could come out and do a furnace cleaning prior to a home inspection and was pleased that they were able to come out so quickly although I was a little annoyed that the lady on the phone was listening to the radio the entire time I was talking to her, very distracting. After the service was completed I went to check out the work and was disappointed to see they slapped their service sticker over the previous service record and then wrote so illegibly that you couldn't tell what year they had been out or what work had been done. The service was done in 2014 but the writing looked like 2001. I called American Energy to complain and talked to Bernie on the phone - I am assuming she is the owner because no one would hire someone with such terrible phone and customer service skills to answer their phones or be the direct contact with their customers. She was not apologetic or even slightly helpful, I quickly gave up on her.
I sold the house immediately and had the buyers back out in large part due to the furnace - they said it didn't look like it had been maintained, it was dirty, noisy and the wrong filters had been installed. My agent called the buyers agent and explained the furnace had just been serviced and they told her I should get my money back. I went to look at the furnace again and was very surprised when I took off the cover to see there was 1/8 inch of dust on the inside casing of the furnace and most of the visible components were dusty. Pissed, I called American Energy and got Bernie on the phone again, once again not apologetic or helpful, I asked to speak to the owner/operator and she said she would have the guy who did the work call me back, I said that was unacceptable and please have the owner call me. A short time later I got a call from the guy who did the crappy work, he gave me a bunch of excuses, no apology and told me he would come out and clean the furnace if I really wanted, I told him to forget it, I would clean it myself and be done with this crappy company.
I sold the house to a new buyer, another home inspection, another problem with the furnace. They wanted to see a service record since the service sticker was illegible. I realized I hadn't seen a bill from American Energy yet so I had to call for their bill-- boy was that fun, Bernie must have had me on caller ID because she was snotty from the get-go, she said she had emailed me a bill and would send me another one. The next day I still hadn't gotten a bill so I had to call her again, she said she had emailed it twice to the correct address but she would send again, a short time later I finally got the bill. No surprise it was double what I was initially told, the bill was probably right but don't you call someone when you double your estimate so they're not surprised? I am paying the bill today but I will never call them again, save yourself the frustration and don't use them. read more
