They exceeded all of our expectations…read more We redid a few rooms of flooring (including one bathroom), changed out a lot of the trim, and upgraded the stairs from carpet to hardwood. Peter is probably one of the most professional contractors I've ever hired. He confirmed the start of the project the day before, showed up on time every day of our 3-4 day project, finished at a decent hour (so we could have our evenings to ourselves), and kept me informed about the progress of the project every step of the way. Everything was contracted and professionally handled in terms of invoicing. He made suggestions for how to improve the appearance of our home in certain places and gave us up-front pricing about every additional change we could add on if we wanted (we took all of his suggestions and so glad we did!). He paid such great attention to detail, fixing so many errors throughout the house that previously were there...things I didn't even know needed fixing! So many of our doors were not sealed correctly and the flooring was all a mess, they fixed it all for us. This was a big project for us - we saved for a whole year for this project - I am so happy we chose to work with IDC. I feel like he actually cared about us, something that is rare to find in people these days! Will definitely call them again for any future projects and will be referring to friends. Hometown Flooring Designs was one of three businesses that I decided to get quotes. Gary came out to give me the estimate and measured everything with an actual measuring tape. I originally spoke to his wife, Jennifer, who was so personable and friendly. She usually is at the store and I have to say the store is clean, organized, and was decorated for the holidays and it always smells amazing! Jennifer has quite the bubbly personality and is extremely helpful. In the afternoon I chose Hometown Flooring for several reasons one because Jennifer was patient and asked me so many questions and also let me take samples home to get a good idea of what I needed to have done. Especially after I had painting done. I believe in supporting small business, and I really liked the personalized attention that I received from both Jennifer and Gary. After receiving other estimates, I truly believe that I was getting a better value and a better quality of carpet than the other carpet companies that provided estimates. When I decided to move forward with Hometown Flooring, Jennifer was great and keeping me in the loop on when the carpeting would be delivered and when delivery dates would be of a call. Also, Gary called me before my installation just to answer any questions. Gary arrived promptly at 7 am the day of the carpet installation. He had two other men with him that were helping with the install. First of all, I like the carpet and the design of the carpet. I felt that I was making great decisions with the personal attention and patience with my many questions! On top of that the installation was unbelievable! They're kind, good-natured, considerate, friendly, and efficient. Any time I mentioned adding or changing something, it got done that day. Like within minutes. We met them through our neighbor, who recommended ML as the contractor she didn't hire for her bathroom, but really wished she had. And I am so thankful we did hire them. They took our bathroom from 1986 Miami Vice on steroids and completely transformed it into a contemporary spa-like retreat. The installers and their lack of professionalism, however, are the reason for the lower score. They refused shoe covers and walked with their shoes through the house, then tracked dust and carpet pieces throughout. They left water bottles, damage to the baseboards and walls. It felt like they were more in a rush to get done than to get the job done correctly. After discussing this with Jim, he wasn't phased by the issues and said we should have expected a little cleanup despite being told the installers would clean up after themselves. They were instructed to leave the old carpet for us to throw out, but they didn't bother to bag it up for trash. We paid $1500 for two rooms and I still had to do a lot myself. We wanted to support a local business but the whole effort was pretty average.
