Ok I dont know how this place doesn't have more reviews. This was my first time visiting Montana and I've heard that beef here is amazing. Wanted to give some local meat a try and cook it on my own during the visit. Daniel's gourmet meats provided amazing fresh cuts of meat from bison to elk to beef to other things. There was fresh meat and jerky. The jerky was probably some of the best I've tasted. Came back at the end of my trip to grab a few more bags to take home. The store seemed well stocked and we'll organized so it wasn't overwhelming to navigate, which can be a problem for smaller stores when everything can be disorganized. Before finding Daniel's we ate meat maybe once a week, usually chicken or maybe ground beef (unless I had filled a deer or elk tag). Now, we go to Daniel's once a week and pick up ribeyes, porterhouses and ground beef. The prices are basically the same as the big markets, the quality is not even close. Daniel's meats are the best you're going to find anywhere. I still am not a big meat eater, but thanks to Daniel's I eat more beef than before and sure do enjoy the steaks and burgers. Even their chicken is noticeably better than elsewhere, at no more cost. To top it off, the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Unless you have a thing for eating meat that isn't top notch, there's no reason to go anywhere else for your meat (I'm talking everywhere from Whole Foods to Safeway to Rosauer's to T&C to Costco and Winco). read more

We purchased a meat package on line for Christmas for two years in a row for family. My brother told me most recently."... the meat has always been tough so don't bother wasting your money on the meat again, sorry to tell you, we tried everything to tenderize the meat to no avail.". Of the butcher shops that we visited, Daniel's Gourmet Meats was by far the busiest at the time we were there. The first thing we noticed is the cleaver door handle. Daniel's has a huge selection of frozen items, some refrigerated items and a large fresh meat case. We even noticed that they had alligator. A lot of local frozen meats were available which we enjoyed. Elk and Bison to name a couple. They also had a nice selection of brats and hot dogs. We ended up picking up a couple of burgers and a couple of steaks that also looked excellent. They have a lot of options and prices seemed to be pretty fair too. Update: Went back again and picked up a NY Strip and some chicken. Confirmed prices are very good as our total was only $15.00. read more

The sausages and brats were really good. We wanted to get some elk and bison for our trip home and they had a really good selection. The folks working the market were really friendly and helpful. My wife and I make it a point to visit Daniel's every time we visit MT and we've dropped by multiple times every trip we've made! Starting with the meats they offer, we've never been disappointed. We always buy packs and packs of their meat sticks to give as gift to friends back home. My personal favorites are the 7 Pepper and Cheddar and the ghost pepper and cheddar! Their steaks are also top notch! Everything in their counter looks to-die-for! The caliber of their meat is matched by that of their service! On our most recent trip, we bought a whole bunch of meat sticks, not realizing the logistical issue of storage. They gave us a bunch of ice packs from their own freezer, free of charge to ensure we had the best experience possible. 10/10 would recommend and 100% guaranteed we'll be back! read more

My mom and I are both recovering and not up to cooking as usual. After calling all the BBQ places in Bozeman and Belgrade, we called Daniels to see if they were smoking turkeys for Thanksgiving. Got some pork chops, steaks, and sausages as well as some of the beef sticks for a 5 day camping trip on the Smith River. All the meat was great and made for fantastic dinners. Service was spectacular as well; they helped us pack our stuff up for the trip by vacuum sealing all the food. I highly recommend. read more

I got my two exotic meats Elk and Bison that I decided to used them for steaks. The Bison I got was so perfect that I made steak frites with grilled veggies, air fried pommes frites, and bearnaise. Way better than the prime USDA beef. On the other meat, elk was too gamey for my pallette but I had to make a huckleberry-cherry red wine reduction for the meat to make it taste better. I personally do like the fact that after I purchase the meats, I told the coworkers that they need to freeze it more for me since I want to bring it to California. Normally restaurants charge me and my family alot for exotic meats but i bring it from Montanas Exotic Meat Farm to the Californian table. I love my butcher! How great is it to be able to walk to your local butcher! The beef here is top notch as is the pork and they offer Mary's chickens. They carry grass fed. They carry Wagyu, FRESH. Lamb, Goat, Veal, Turkey's. They make their own sausages, deli meats and jerkies. Preseasoned chops and chicken pieces. Cheeses, sauces, seasonings, wine and other beverages, and fresh veggies make this a one stop shop for every thing from work day meals to those special dinner needs. Rib eye, good. Chops, good. Wish I lived in Bozeman and could come here once a week! Bought a rose wine on sale which was very good (was NOT expecting to find wine), turkey and beef jerky (LOVE the turkey, beef is a little tough), some excellent cheeses, and additional grocery items. I wish I could have bought more items but we were on our way to ID, WY, and beyond. If I lived in Bozeman, I would stop here before a typical grocery store every time! Daniels Meats donated all of the stakes for the elks steak night to honor our veterans. These guys are awesome, and the meat is fabulous.

We've bought local products from them before and all were good quality. We recently bought extra thin veal cutlets at $18.99 / lb. They were frozen and terribly tough. We also bought a 3lb Osso Buco for a special occasion also $18.99 /lb. The meat was very fatty and more than half the weight was bone. And it was marked from a butcher in Bronx, NY. We don't mind paying top dollar for a good quality meat, but both of these veal products were terrible. When we buy from Daniels again, we'll stick with local producers only. read more

Well this place is amazing! Everything that we tried was delicious. Since we were staying at an air B and B - we got pork chops, bacon, steaks and sausage. The Apple cinnamon bacon was so good - that we had to stop back and get more. The elk sausage and the pork sausage sticks were perfect to take in our cooler and enjoy after our hikes in Glacier National Park. This is a must stop if you are in the area! read more

Stopped off here before a week long trip to Big Sky. Stocked up on meat, bacon, sausage, cured salamis, cheese, and other items. Couldn't be happier. Oh my gosh we can not say enough about this place. We drive thru once a year and bring our cooler! Their selection is amazing and the stay are incredibly friendly. We got bison steaks, elk, ribeyes, bacon, the Wagyu brisket and a wagyu tritip.... to say we save and stock up when we come thru is an understatement. Amazing meat products. We were in town from Southern California and we stocked up to bring a bunch of goodness home. The rattlesnake bacon is incredible as is the jerky. The steaks are fabulous and you can definitely taste a difference. If you are in/near Bozeman and you have the opportunity to cook - get your meat from here. You will not be disappointed. I reached out to find out about shipping - which they don't do, but a courier service will handle the mailing for a small fee ($20) How excellent is that?!? I feel like a lot of "new" businesses tend to fizzle out after the excitement of opening, Daniel's is still just as great if not even more so from when they first opened. Saw several teams cooking with Daniel's meats last year in the Montana Pitmaster Classic and restaurants using their products. Austin did a 1/2 hog butchering demo at a Kenyon/Traeger cooking class and he stole the show - super personable and informative. Great case and custom meats! Keep it up guys! We are visiting Bozeman for six weeks and were frustrated at our inability to find first class Prime meats and sausages here. Our niece said a friend had tried Daniels and loved it - wowza was she right. First of all we were very impressed with the care taken to ensure our public health safety. All staff were masked and gloved and appropriate social distance was maintained. But the best part was the selection of meats and their quality. We are from Phoenix/Scottsdale area and Daniels would hold their own in any major market. Gallatin Valley is lucky to have them. What a wonderful experience! Stopping for our first visit my husband and I got a 15 minute personal tour of this meat market by Joshua. He was so informative and helpful. The spotlessesly cases were filled with such interesting meats it was hard to make a selection. We tried the smoked bacon and elk sausage both were delicious and a good price. Without a question the best meat market here in Bozeman, or SW Montana for that matter. I think what really sets this shop apart from the rest is the passion you see going into the products they're producing in-house.
