**November 2025: Sunday Afternoon Visit** My mom and I were looking for some local Montana gifts and food and saw the huge Co-op building on a drive down Main Street. The parking lot is kind of small, but we were able to find a spot to squeeze into on our visit. When you enter the building you'll see an impressive self-serve section and I noticed quite a few people loading up their plates or to go boxes. There's an island of ingredients to make your own salad and a couple of home made soups, and another area for hot items. My mom and I decided to share a squash soup, a small salad, and an assortment of hot items including South Carolina pulled pork, mac n cheese, biscuits and gravy, and mashed potatoes. I also decided to try a local kombucha which was really refreshing. We grabbed our utensils close to the exit and headed upstairs to enjoy our food. After we devoured everything we perused the main floor and bought a lot of Montana based goodies including teas, Bequet caramels, soaps, and skincare products. Suffice to say I spent quite a bit of money here, but I'm happy to support local and be able to share the Montana spirit with my family and friends! I'd say Community Food Co-op is kind of like a cross between Trader Joes and Whole Foods, but with a great emphasis on sustainability and local goods. So cool, no Super Cool! Specialty Market that focuses on local wares! Displays and selections are extraordinary. Staff and service are first rate. There is even a small cafe upstairs where many locals stop in daily for a quality lunch. I had an excellent Cappuccino. Once I completed my shopping. read more

Came to Bozeman and was looking for some snacks and adult beverages to enjoy in the hotel. Drove lossy Community food co-op and decided to give it a try. This place reminds this Texan gal of what we call Whole Foods. Lots of great organic , gluten free and healthy options. (Like whole Foods a little pricey but you get what you pay for right?) Found some resonantly priced organic fruit, dark chocolate and wine. Staff was nice. I noticed a cafe on the second level with fresh smoothies I think I'll have to try before I leave town! High end healthy grocer. Gah- this place is pricey. They don't seem to have like a generic- just stuff from small local farmers, who are trying to make a sustainable living from growing turnips or whey or something, while positively impacting the environment and removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere all at the same time. I guess I misunderstood what was going on here at this grocer, and thought I'd be able to pick up some salami and bread, and some other provisions for Yellowstone. Instead, I found a high-end co-op with small batch, artesian flavors and super healthy stuff. I was glad to see that their produce looked amazing, with locally grown stuff where ever possible. Compared to the Safeway down Main Street, this produce section looked like the Garden of Eden. Lush, fresh greens, local huckleberries and other strange fruits and veggies this Texan had never seen on a grocery produce shelf. I had to taper back the shopping a bit, due to the prices. But I was happy with all the produce I got and the pre-made stuff was healthy and delicious. The staff was fast with the bagging, and they even sell ice to pack your cooler. Be sure to check out the free publications by the exit, and the community bulletin board by the parking lot. read more

It had been 12 years since I last visited Bozeman and it will definitely be at least 12 more before I come again, because the town once filled with character was now unrecognizable and if you looked down Main Street it now looked like any other town in America. The amount of Californian license plates reflected what the town had become. Walked in here on day 3 of the vision quest, (micro-dosing mushrooms all the while). I wasn't quite at the level I wanted to be in the hours before I arrived, so I kept nibbling a little more and when I walked in the door and looked at the floor I thought maybe I didn't originally need anymore. Alas, after I entered the threshold the thought would pass, as would much gas (as I farted my way through the aisles). Seeing all the people wearing face coverings and with different colored hair and mismatched clothing, I wondered if I accidentally had entered the Bozeman mental hospital, but soon realized that they were just virtue signaling liberals. I couldn't stay long, I was feeling ill and retreated to the mountain. read more

A coworker, while driving them home, asked for me to stop at the Co-op and I obliged. She purchased a pound of smoked salmon, a pound of sprouts, box of crackers and a small block of cheese. She paid nearly $43 dollars. Just for my own entertainment, I stopped by Winco after dropping her off and made the same purchase. The only difference was the brand of cheese, as I was unable to locate the same as she purchased. My total? $21.90... Make the co-op make sense. I just don't understand why anyone would pay nearly double to shop here. Is it a status thing? I truly don't understand it. read more

Great store! We were passing thru and loved their in-house breads, pickled onions and every other healthy option you'd be looking for.

Second time I have been here in two days and I am.jusy amazed by the selection of items, great customer service, and positive vibe here! I love that the prices are so reasonable for a small store and you are able to get in and out quickly with most likely what you want, not so much what you need. Being from out of town I "needed" local cider, so I loaded up my bag and love the fact that you are able to try individual ciders from the Pacific Northwest region. Also, their hot and fresh food bar is definitely worth checking out as they change out their soups daily! Yesterday I got an amazing creamy veggie zucchini and today I got a beef chili which helped me stay warm as I did my homework--smile. Definitely a must go to store!! read more

I'm going to give this Co-op a 4 star for the variety of items they have. If you are familiar with a Trader Joe's it is similar to that. They had a cafe/salad bar with hot and cold food, plus you could order sandwiches. Food was not so great. We tried several things as it was buffet style and was $9.49/lb. Nothing really wowed is, so my husband and I were both disappointed. I guess this is to be expected when you are traveling. I think a lot of the locals enjoy it because they know what is good. We liked the concept of all the different local vendors which is what drew us in. read more

I enjoy shopping a the Community Food Co-Op in downtown Bozeman. The store has a unique neighborhood feel and robust selection of products. Think Trader Joe's meets Whole Foods. I primarily shop here for fresh organic produce and meats from local farmers. The store also has a variety of locally prepared meals that you can grab from the fridge and heat up at home. This is a great co-op with a big selection of the usual groceries and produce but also a big salad bar and a big "hot bar", each of which you pay for by weight. The hot bar selection varies, one night we had Indian curries etc. and the other we had Cajun. Their local beer and wine selection is also impressive! My favorite lunch spot in Bozeman. Soup and salad bar is so good! The most kind and helpful staff you will likely ever encounter.

Decent lunch hot bar and salad bar, but is too expensive. Easily spend $40-$50 just on lunch, which is INSANELY expensive considering it's a grocery store. I'd say everything in general is over priced. Also, vegan options are surprisingly sparse, and don't even bother if you're WFPB, everything has oil added, unnecessarily I might add (like steamed kale and soups). The only shining light is their yummy bread, of which they have vegan options, but no Gluten free options and no whole food plant based options. Step it up co-op and offer some ACTUALLY healthy food and not this pretend-healthy food. read more

Be very careful of the salad bar. It is by the pound and it adds up very fast! The crackers are extra. It was delicious but expensive.

This place is amazing everything is eco friendly, fresh, healthy and everything you would think of a Co-op and more. With there hot food bar, coffee/juice store, bulk section, fresh bakery and they are all extremely helpful. I needed to find a dried non dairy item and they took there time looking around the store then coming back to find me when they got it. Nothing seemed really over priced just matching the quality when it came to bigger items. With the construction they have some items in a weird place but like I said they are fine in helping you find it. Wish this store was near a place I lived I would go there all the time. read more

Wonderful store. As good as any I've seen in the Bay Area or Seattle region. Wide selection of "natural" products. They have one of the best salad/food bars I've seen and many people were taking advantage of it for dinner. We had just eaten and almost regretted our choice after seeing the offerings here. We easily found what we needed. On the way out, we checked out the cafe upstairs. It is a large space conducive to studying/hanging out. They had a number of cupcakes and baked items that looked interesting. Unfortunately, the cupcake was awful. Stale and dry. We threw most of it away. I highly recommend the store, but the cafe is another matter. read more

I truly adore this co-op. Upon my first visit, they didn't have many vegetarian options on the hot bar and I didn't fancy a salad from the cold bar. I had to make it work with what was offered plus some fresh produce. The hot items I chose were tasty...Just not a big variety made without meat. However, when we stopped in again the next day. The menu had changed. The hot bar had an abundance of vegetarian options. Everything I tried was yum....The polenta was amazing and the irresistible fried potato wedges were heaven!! I'm not sure if they change up the menu each day because we were only in the area for two days. Both days I had the chocolate parfait out of the cold case. The parfait was fresh with real cream and moist cake. Both days it was delicious! They have a nice seating and cafe area located upstairs or you can sit downstairs, outside on picnic style tables if you prefer. The grocery and produce section has a decent amount of options to choose from that you could definitely stock your pantry with. Also, One of the employees that I asked a question was super kind and helpful. The store had a good positive vibe all around. read more

who doesn't love a co-op?! this location in Bozeman is packed with yummy goodies and local treats! I always prefer co-ops over regular grocery stores because the selection is always a surprise. They have delicious meats, the best cheeses and the whole reason I wrote this review: THE TO GO refrigerated section! I grabbed two plates of sushi ($11-15), cobb salad ($8) and a turkey hummus sandwich on ciabatta ($7). my partner enjoyed the fresh sushi and i enjoyed my salad and sandwich. 10/10 love the co op. Not even close to Whole Foods, but if you are looking for organic offerings in and around Bozeman, Community Food Co-Op is your best bet. We came here prior to our main shop at Albertson's in search of organic offerings, and some of the smaller brands of foods that I enjoy. Selection was pretty good, but quality of the produce was only OK. Perhaps living in NYC spoils you, but I didn't think produce was particularly fresh and some looked downright god awful. Pricing was surprisingly more reasonable for organics than the Albertsons, which was more expensive on many items. The upstairs sitting area is nice, and has a juice bar. Definitely worth a shop if you want organic, but don't have high expectations of superb quality because you will be disappointed. read more

Love this place. flew in from California to go camping in Yellowstone. Great selection, great products, friendly and inclusive businesses.

We have expensive grocery stores where I live in NJ. Whole Foods, or whole paycheck as we call them. Like them, the Co-Op overcharges to make us feel good about buying locally grown "organic" food. But honestly, they take it to another level! $24 a pound steak. $23 a pound tuna, milk and eggs out in the stratosphere and more than $6 for a fresh loaf of bread. And the kicker is they are a screwball leftist outfit in an otherwise normal state. No firearms decals prominently displayed on the entranceways. I guess when they're the ones doing the robbing, they want to make sure you can't fight back. There are plenty of other good grocery stores in Bozeman that sell locally grown organic food. Frequent those and save yourself some money. A lot of money! read more

Having spent the last week at Good Food in Missoula, I feel like I am not AT HOME and not in a Pseudo Whole Foods. The food bar is MUCH BETTER quality and tasting here. It is a Co-op #1 worker owned!!!!! No corporately local or national store will beat the care and quality, even if selection was a bit less. The upper juice bar and eating area, is excellent. Support your local Co-op and take pride in supporting the people serving you, instead of some asshole shareholders. AND I'm listening to a live harpist for Sunday brunch, who does that? When I walked up I knew I was home. Prepared food was as good as a high priced restaurant. Atmosphere is rusticity beautiful. Huge beams!! At the help counter I was given a lot of info on hiking, hot springs and wildlife areas. You are not a stranger here. Organics and fresh food abound. Each employee is so kind and helpful. The store is very clean and has a good ambiance. I could walk around for hours and just be satisfied looking at everything there is in stock!! The bulk section has 99% of the things that I want to buy, and I love that they do BYO containers-- not enough stores do it! I do not mind spending a little extra on the awesome products that they have at this co-op from time to time, because it is worth it in the quality and that you are supporting a solid business. read more

My husband and I are visiting from a Florida found this little market that also serves daily foods and soups. We had tried the one in downtown Bozeman and liked it as well. We both stopped in to check it out and both got soup I got beef stew made with bison and my husband got chicken chili his had way tooo much salt but he ate it mind was perfect. This Co-op is a great place to run in and grab HOT or COLD food great quality. Support this co-op I seen a lot of families with children here having food. Enjoy! read more

I wish we had one of these in Seattle. I really do. We stopped by here to pick up some snacks and sandwiches while exploring the areas surrounding Bozeman. There is a large "ready to eat" deli section with various different salads, sandwiches, and other prepared foods that you can just grab and eat. You can also have them custom a sandwich fresh (the wait when we went was about 5 minutes). They have picnic tables outside on the backside of the building - you can grab a soup and sandwich and sit outback. The Co-Op also has utilensils (metal and plastic) for use. They have one of the biggest selections of breads that I have seen. They also have a wide variety of trail mixes and snacks. Non-member prices were very reasonable (meaning member prices are "ridiculously cheap" for a city slicker like myself). We bought two half-sandwiches, a mid-sized salad, a 12-pack of PRB, and two drinks for under $15 (Oh yes, and a huge sugar cookie too). The produce and meats all looked very fresh, and they carry all the general items you may pick up when you're grocery shopping at larger chains here as well - they also have an awesome self-bottling system for body lotions. You can make your own bottle from the selections on the wall (There were 12 different varieties when we were there.). If you're cruising by Bozeman on a roadtrip, this is a great place to stop and load up on some goodies and a fresh sandwich. read more
