My wife ordered a steak, and the crust they put on their steaks is absolutely fantastic--perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. They also managed to cook it to a perfect medium, exactly as requested. We arrived right at the opening rush, so we expected things might take a while, but our food came out quickly and everything was cooked to perfection. Great food, excellent service, and a wonderful experience all around. Definitely a 5-star visit!

We started with huge mildly-spicy chipotle pepperjack Housemade Tater Tots, crispy yet soft, soothed by a mild tomatillo ranch dipping sauce. And a luscious plate of Bison Potstickers, under a light layer of somewhat-spicy mango & garlic chili sauces, with asian slaw. The Fresh Asian Ramen salad dish was tender organic mixed greens, lightly-sautéed fresh seasonal carrots peas-in-tender-pods and thin brightly-flavored radish slices, tender light ramen noodles, and our chosen plum-glazed sesame-fried mild tofu (instead of chicken), with added sweet tender pan-fried Idaho rainbow trout filet, all under a light sesame-soy vinaigrette. Quite marvelous. The Kale Caesar, (Their Hail-Caesar joke?) was surprisingly good! By rolling the kale and cross-cutting it into thin strips, chiffonade-style, it was tender to the bite! I actually though it was baby kale! It was dressed with a sprinkling of shaved hard white cheeses, housemade sourdough croutons, and a light splashes of creamy caesar. They would add anchovies if you want. Tender juicy thick Monarch-Elk Burger is just a tiny bit game-y, adding a light tough of sweet extra flavor. It's covered with flavorful melted gruyère, a rich tomato jam, arugula, and a truffled porcini aioli. The bun was fresh and pillowy with a paper-thin egg-wash crust. Quite good! I will say that, other than the novelty, we didnt find a reason to come back to elk rather than a well-crafted beef burger. The lightly-beer-battered local, natural Hutterite Pork Chop Sandwich was tender and sweet like chicken, with honey mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. We savored the creaminess of their home-brewed sweet draft craft root beer. And of course we dove into their craft beer list. It was fun to taste the brightly colorful smooth somewhat-sweet Huckleberry Cream Ale from Portland's Hopworks Brewery. Lical huckleberries are hard-to-cultivate more-tart blueberry-relatives, which did become a recurring treat in one form or another on this trip. We shared two self-chosen craft-beer flights. Our favorite was the Bayern Brewing kölsch, a light golden color with soft yeasty malty flavors and just a touch of spiciness. And we loved a selection of their many IPAs. Our least-favorite brew was the Lockhorn Gallatin Grapefruit Mint Cider. The flavor was unusual, and it took me the whole flight-glass to come to terms with the tarragon-like undertone. We also bought some merch from their small retail area near the hosts' stand. Montana Ale Works' inside hall is vast, with a high ceiling and the cheerful roar of conversation. There's a large bar in the center of the room. And there's patio seating out front. At 5, they had said it wasnt crowded yet. We got there at 5:30pm on a weekday, and we had about a 20min wait for our table. Staff was welcoming and efficiently busy. We enjoyed our evening. This was one of the nicest meals on this trip.

We had Katen wait on us for dinner and she was fabulous! She was kind, great with our kids and a very thoughtful server. She made sure we had everything we needed and had great dinner suggestions. We added a small side of steak to split for our kids and she made sure each kid had enough and even had the steak cut up. She talked to us about our up coming trip and was very engaging. We were delighted to have her the following day when we dined for dinner. Everything came out perfect, she checked on us multiple times and was extremely accommodating to our wants and needs for dinner. The following morning we dined for breakfast and had Kendra wait on us. She was also amazing. All of the staff must be fabulous because each time we were there we were blown away by the friendly, helpful and thoughtful staff. Kendra not only provided great table service, but she was a delight to talk with. She gave insight to our trip and gave great suggestions for future trips. We were one time crunch and she made sure we ate and got to our next destination as quick as possible. Thank you both again for such a great stay and thank you for taking the time to talk with us!

They have lots of TVs if you want to catch a game. They had NBA finals and World Cup on while we were there. The place feels cozy and they welcome everyone. We both ordered fish dishes. The walleye and the honey salmon. Food came out after a while and we really liked our dishes. The fish was cooked perfectly and came with a nice, flavorful sauce, instead of just some bland veggies. Overall we liked the walleye a little bit better. We were happy to find some items that are at least a little bit on the healthier side. Our waitress super friendly and quick with everything we required. Would definitely come back here.

**November 2025: Saturday Night**…read more My mom and I were looking for a spot to enjoy dinner that had parking. We drove around downtown Bozeman for a good 30 minutes, and didn't have any luck in securing parking. I found Mountain Walking Brewery and thought I'd take a chance and prayed that there would be a lot or that I would be super lucky with street parking. We were in luck and there was one very small spot near the front of the restaurant - hallelujah! The restaurant was poppin' - almost every table was taken, but we were offered bar seating and we gladly accepted. After purusing through the menu I decided that we should try a variety of items including a side of Brussels sprouts, Bowl of Bison Chili, and a Fig and Arugula Pizza. Service was quick and we got all our items in a pretty timely manner. The pizza had a really great crust the dough had a nice bounce to it. I think for me they were a tad overly generous with the balsamic vinegar glaze which made the pizza quite salty. I would definitely order a pizza again but perhaps the Margherita or the Carnivore. The bison chili was a good standard bowl and the brussel sprouts while crispy was also very salty - I think it was definitely over dressed, but maybe since the majority of patrons were drinkin the salty foods would pair well. Seems like a fun place to hang out, but for me I'd probably pick anything that doesn't have glaze or soy sauce.

The food and drinks were excellent, but the highlight of the night was Trent. We were looking for recommendations on things to do in the area, and Trent absolutely delivered. Scenic drives, sightseeing spots, Yellowstone stops, local attractions--you name it, he had a recommendation for it. The suggestions were coming faster than we could write them down, and every time we thought he was done, he'd remember three more places we needed to see. His food and cocktail recommendations were spot on, and he was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. As an added bonus, his voice carries exceptionally well, so hearing all of those recommendations was never an issue, even on a busy Friday night. Copper is a great spot, but Trent is what made the experience memorable. If you find yourself sitting at his bar, settle in--you'll leave with a great meal, a great drink, and a much longer list of places to visit than you arrived with.

Food and service was pretty average - we like to order an adult beverage before dinner and peruse the menu. We were told the bar was backed up so we should get our food order in. So, not a take-your-time kinda place. Not rude, but not chill. Shared a 1/2 portion wedge salad @ $12 - perfect for two and tasty. Main entrees were a bit disappointing: 8 oz Tenderloin Filet @ $54 was cooked a bit more than requested and it came with (2) baked potatoes which we've never seen before (+ $4 upcharge). The Pan Seared Trout @ $34 was prepared nicely but there is not any flavor; served w/ a Blackberry BBQ but very sparingly. Super bland. Would come back to visit the bar - would consider ordering a burger, but wouldn't return for the main entrees.
