He often anticipates future issues and treats just enough to address both current and upcoming problems. Beyond his accuracy, he is efficient and prompt, making each visit smooth and focused. I've been a patient of Dr Rowady for many years, and sadly I had a very unpleasant experience with him over what should have been a minor issue. His office mistakenly called in the incorrect dosage of a medication, which is fine, mistakes happen. Unfortunately I had already paid for the prescription when I realized their mistake and the pharmacy would not accept a return or refund the $100 cost. Rather than accept responsibility and take ownership for this error, Dr Rowady berated me and blamed me for their mistake because I had not had an exam for a year. He would not allow me to speak or explain, but rather opted to lecture me about fire victims and that I was wrong about my own dosage -- dosage of a medication that I have taken for over a decade. Sadly he just can't listen and get out of his own way. It's apparent how his behavior must be detrimental to his practice. It's also clear he has anger management issues and I would highly suggest if you are considering this office, look elsewhere for someone more stable, patient, and kind. read more

Dr. Rowady may be an excellent physician in many or most respects, but after many years I have decided to terminate my relationship with him because of the way in which he interacts with me. He seems not to hear what I tell him or perhaps to confuse me with another patient, and actually berates me for saying what he imagines. The prime example is Rowady's telling me over many sessions that as the doctor he should tell me what to do, not the other way round--referring to my supposed resistance to blood pressure treatment--despite my repeated polite corrections of this utterly false recollection. Regardless. as an adult I don't expect a reprimand (even once!) from anyone not my boss, less so when it stems from fantasy. read more

Some of the receptionist seem to come and go and many try to be gate keepers but they don't know how to yet. They almost would not make an appointment for me until I asked for the office manager. Just because I got new insurance they didn't understand I was already a patient there. Again thinking they are knowing the rules but forgot the details like you already have my records. The amazing office manager sorted it out. Yes, the doctor looks at him self in a mirror when he talks to you. There may be a reason he does it that we don't understand. Really. I was a patient of Dr. Rowady for several years and I think he is probably one the most Rudest and vulgar doctors with very poor bedside manner. I wanted to switch the first year but I figured I only see him once or twice a year and its no big deal with it but this past year he took his rudeness to whole other level. I am still considering to file a complaint about him to the Medical State Board?.. I think trust between a patient and doctor that has to be established that the information you are sharing is not later used as a form of attack by your own doctor. This is how primitive and uncouth Dr. Rowady stoop to when I called to ask him why he over charged me for a visit. All I wanted was a explanation and what I got was just verbal attack about personal information I had shared with him that was irrelevant to what I called about?. I was just shocked and really disgusted with his behavior. I finally decided to end dealing with him and his buffoon rude staff who can't even make an appointment or refill a medication, his staff are also another issue that I really hated going for a visit and I am glad I never have set foot in that office again. I've been seeing Dr Rowady for several years now and while he's maybe not a great hot-shot doctor, he is knowledgeable, courteous, and confidence-inspiring. He's also straight spoken and definitely not a "pill pusher": He will prescribe but reluctantly. He will also not hesitate to refer you to a specialist if he feels it would be in your best interest. All in all a good primary care physician. One more thing, he does in fact have a little vanity habit of glancing at himself in the mirror while he's talking to you. Not a big deal but kind of funny. For quite some time, I'd been putting off the inevitable; since moving to Pasadena I'd wanted to find a doctor, but hadn't wanted to deal with the hassles of finding a good one. While I'd found doctors in the past who I could be satisfied with, I hadn't had a doctor I'd been happy with for years. Dr. Rowady's name came across my path by way of Angie's List. His specialty is internal medicine, but was also listed as a general practitioner. Upon my first call, I had an appointment in a matter of days. A day or two before I got a call reminding me of my appointment, what I needed to bring, and how to prepare (one thing I hate is going to a doctor and then having to go back a second time because I didn't fast for blood work, or going in starving thinking I needed to fast for blood work when I could have had breakfast). I showed up a few minutes early to take care of my paperwork. The front office staff is super friendly. Within a few minutes of my appointment time, I was called in. A few minutes later Dr. Rowady showed up. It was nice to have the doctor show up, and not a NP, or a PA--nothing against PAs and NPs, they're great, but at my previous doctor's office, I hadn't actually seen my doctor in five years. Dr. Rowady was quick, but not in such a way that things felt rushed, or that he had skipped over anything, or not heard my concerns. He's just a no-nonsense kind of doctor. I got a sense from him that he had a balanced view on how life style can affect your health (for the good and bad), and the need (or lack of need) for medications, depending on the situation. I'm not a fan of doctors whose first response to a problem is to medicate it, and Dr. Rowady, for me, wasn't that kind of doctor. Added bonus: in-house phlebotomist Only drawback: I had to pay for parking in the building's parking structure. Next time I'll park on the street. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This man is more concerned with how he looks from the neck up!! Yes, that's right, he looks in a mirror, While he is supposed to be talking to you! Super weird!! I think he has an inferiority complex. Someone needs to tell him, that he actually is a Dr. Maybe then He will stop watching himself when he is talking to patients. On top of that he is rude, doesn't remember anything about your chart (I went to him for at least 1year) and had no manners. He needs some training on how to work with people. My wife has serious medical issues and needed a caring, attentive doctor. But after her second meeting, she said she would never return to Dr. Rowady. The staff seems overloaded. When she called to schedule a second appointment, she was on hold for 10 minutes. She finally hung up and called back, but no one answered. When she called a third time, someone picked up the phone, then immediately hung up. It took 4 calls to get through to a receptionist. My wife said that Rowady interrupts often and appeared to be in a rush during both meetings. She got the feeling that he has taken on too many patients. read more

Dr. Rowady saved my mother's life 8 years ago after a simple hysterectomy surgery that left her in a induced coma - after 3 days - my mother was not waking up - we called her primary doctor, Dr. Rowady - who came in and demanded that all medication that was being given to her seize and stop. To get her awake and up. If it wasn't for Dr. Rowady my mother would be dead. Since then I am now a patient of Dr. Rowady, as is my father, my two sisters and now as recent as my two young daughters. He is a doctor who carefully listens to your concerns and symptoms. He has always been a complete professional and respectful! My entire family loves him! I occasionally see doctors in this office and prefer Dr. Rowady. However, I was disappointed today that he felt the need to be "in your face" aggressive about not prescribing antibiotics. It was downright strange, because I did not come in with an intent to obtain antibiotics--I needed a good diagnosis and practical suggestions on how to deal with my symptoms. I am not sure I received either. I longed for the wonderful Chinese doctor I once had (in another city) who always had practical responses--and actually asked me about what I thought (unheard of, I know). Instead, Dr. Rowady lectured me about how antibiotics are not appropriate to the situation....okay fine, I prefer not to take them but please, no need to be condescending. Especially when I know he prescribed antibiotics over the phone last week to another patient. It made me wonder what was going on. read more

More of a review of the phone services provided by the front office staff: after waiting on hold for an extended period of time, I finally got a receptionist. She asked me a series of questions. What was the reason for my request for appointment? What's my date of birth? Etc. then hold again....then another receptionist asked me the exact same battery of questions. Most excruciating office interaction in a while. I still got an appointment- which is great. Perhaps some streamlining is in order... Now that I mention it, my wait time at the lab to get blood drawn was longer than my appointment with the physician last visit. read more

I read some of these reviews and I don't see him looking at himself. I see him taking to me and listening to me about the reason I am there. He knows what is going on in the past and writes prescription accordingly. He tells you the things you need to know even if maybe you don't want to hear it (like it would help if you lose a little weight). I have tried and lost some weight and I actually feel alittle better and one of my concerns has gotten better. The complaint about the receptionist might be valid but I think that they aren't acting as a gate keeper but following the instructions that they are no longer accepting a certain type of insurance. They screen them out and make sure. They may make mistakes here and there but isn't Ida the office manager great. She will take care of things when there is a misunderstanding. I think in the reviewers case that mentions that she didn't make an appointment and you weren't a new patient you feel if you were the one that came in to see the md and then later you discover that you were denied 100% and you had to pay out of pocket wouldn't you be upset that they didn't noticed. Maybe they didn't make the appointment at first but I rather them let me know at least what is the possibly case. The person who out the money is the md at the end because they won't get the payment for their services. I don't know if I made any sense but healthcare is crazy now a days. My he md needs to get payment. They do a great job here from the receptionist to the md assistant to md (hopefully you don't need speak to the office manager but if you did she is great too!) I have had several doctors around town due to many geographical moves and many insurance changes. They've all been ok I guess.. About three years ago I happened to find Dr Rowady quite by accident. Until now, I had no idea what people were talking about when they said they really liked their doctor! I get absolutely amazing care by a guy who treats me like I'm a concierge patient when in reality I'm just a regular old blue shield patient, and a newer one at that. Over the last couple months, I've dealt with a few minor health issues. It's absolutely amazing to get a personal follow up call out of the blue by your doctor genuinnly concerned about how you're doing.. I mean what doctor actually does this in 2019?
