DR. Hany Zaki has been my Primary doctor for five years. He is my favorite doctor in the world. I am a post-traumatic neurosurgery patient with multiple aneurisms and a stunning array of health deficits that a 99-year-old shouldn't have. In my thirties now, I am fighting for my life. From tummy aches and sore throats to pre-surgery clearance and post-hospital check-ups, Dr. Zacky, and his outstanding office staff are always on time, pleasant and accurate. *See the awards on his walls. I read a few reviews that found him to be condescending? Anything is possible? I recently discovered an 18mm aneurism in my internal carotid artery and another one in my brain. I've been a patient of Dr. Zaki's for almost a year and I'm quite satisfied with him being my primary care physician. His office has a very mellow feel to it, his staff is friendly and helpful. I found Dr. Zaki to be very caring and thorough as he is a firm believer in holistic medicine and he truly cares about the well being of his patients. On many occasions I have called the office after hours when I'm not feeling well and his answering service is quick as the response time is usually 5-10 minutes. The wait time in the office is usually 5-10 minutes with an appointment, occasionally the wait may be longer depending on the weather and how many other [sick] people are ahead of you. Dr. Zaki is very personable -- he along with his staff can remember names quite well; they do not need to look at your chart to know who you are. They also try to talk to you to figure out where you are in life and attempt to figure you out in a way; sometimes it actually makes sense. I've been meaning to do this for a long time now & this last issue was the final straw. Now if I could give 0 stars I would. This guy is trash. No respect. No ounce of care in his soul. You're better off finding another Doctor even if it's several cities over. All my visits in the past lasted 5-10 minutes. I always left my visits without the proper knowledge on what's wrong/may be wrong nor the solution to resolve any of my problems. He was always in a rush to just get in & out even when I was the only patient. He always seemed to get irritated whenever I would ask questions concerning my issues as if I was already informed with everything I needed to know. According to him, it's like I never had any issues as he would always say, don't worry you're fine or I'm overthinking things. I could go on & on, but the final straw was when I tried to schedule an appointment & I was advised by the receptionist to just go to urgent care instead. There was no need for me to go to urgent care whatsoever. It's like he was denying me care & the cherry on top was when I noticed they marked me down as a visit even though I didn't get seen. All I did was call over the phone to make an appointment. That's a bit fishy. All in all, stay away at all costs. I don't even know how this many is still running his business. He was decent about 10 years ago, now seems he is too busy to care. Feel like just a number being pushed through without any care of who is in front of him or what ailment you might have. He schedules appointments two to three months out (smh). His office receptionist (rene I believe) is one of the rudest receptionist ever encountered. He will pretty much tell you off or hang up on you if you disagree with him. He has been my primary since 2009 and have since seen the standard of care decline. I needed a medical exam for immigration, and Dr. Zaki has BY FAR the most polite and helpful front desk staff out of all I contacted. I called a couple other doctors prior to making an appointment here but some of them sounded so rude - they have that attitude that says "well you need me, so I can treat you however I want." When I called this doctor, his staff thoroughly and patiently answered all my questions. If you're also looking for a doctor for your medical report, do be aware that he's not the cheapest BUT I would much, much rather pay a little bit extra and deal with pleasant people. read more

I've had a persistent cough for over 3 weeks now. I had gone to Pasadena Urgent Care last weekend and the only thing they prescribed me was a gel cap cough suppressant that didn't do a darn thing. I called Urgent Care a couple of days after and said "hey this cough is still going, I need something stronger". They gave me cough syrup with codeine and although it helped me sleep my cough was not going anywhere. So then I decided to check out an actual general practitioner and came across Dr. Zaki's name here on Yelp. I called and the receptionist heard my horrible voice and fit me right in within the hour. She was friendly and I waited only 15 minutes to have my vitals taken then immediately the doctor saw me. He asked me a bunch of questions, explained I had asthmatic bronchitis and gave me 3 different prescriptions to help alleviate the issue. We also talked about my health history, and where I want to be health wise, in the future. Dr. Zaki was polite, informative and had excellent bedside manner. I will definitely keep him as my doctor even if I live in Silverlake. There's free parking (rear) and the office is super clean. Book the appointment you won't be sorry. read more

I love Dr. Zaki! I was looking for a PCP in the Pasadena area, and was a little confused since his place doubles as a med spa. He explained that a number of his patients were looking for botox, laser, etc., and so he ended up adding these services to his internist practice. He is very friendly, takes time to listen to you, and really knows his stuff. I like his approach to cure everything from the inside out, not just treat issues as they arise. Dr. Zaki has been taking care of my parents for the past 15 years. He is kind, caring, conscientious and responsive. My parents are in their late 80's and each of them have had multiple serious medical issues and have even been hospitalized internationally. Each time, Dr. Zaki has nursed them back to health and gotten them back on track. 2 of my siblings and myself are in the health profession and so we are not the 'easiest' family to deal with. However Dr. Zaki is patient with all of us, answers all of our questions and makes himself available to us as needed. My parents speak very highly of Dr. Zaki and all of the office staff. They are all very attentive and responsive and help to guide my parents to a happy and healthy life. Dr. Zaki is a true gem. He knows you by name, treats you not as a patient but as a friend, and always explains what he thinks best course of action is. He's very calm and very smart and has amazing bedside manner. As with most GPs, there is normally a wait when you first get there. But the front desk is helpful and friendly. But my 5 stars is for Doc Zaki. I moved from two different GPs before settling on him several years ago, and he is all about the WHOLE person being healthy. When I was having feet problems, instead of just pushing me off onto a pediatrist, he talked to me about my footwear and exercise, and ended up recommending I buy some decent inserts for my work shoes. Both my husband and I have been patients of Dr. Zaki for over 20 years. Our daughter was his patient too, while her insurance permitted. All I can say is that he has addressed every medical issue we have had with great attention and care. I find his diagnostic skills and the quality of evaluation of a situation to be very high. My husband has suffered from multiple complicated medical issues and has been seeing Dr. Zaki regularly. All along he has been taken very good care of, with Dr. Zaki using a very logical thinking process to help prioritize the different needs. My husband has to take a variety of medications, and Dr. Zaki carefully assesses the benefits and drawbacks of each vis-à-vis the severity of the problem at hand. We fully trust him and he is largely responsible for keeping my husband in good health. I have needed mostly regular check-ups and monitoring of lesser problems and Dr. Zaki has been following up on my health and recommending check-ups periodically, and I feel grateful to him for caring for and about my health. On top of that, he takes the time to explain conditions and answer questions, and is overall very personable and pleasant. The office staff is efficient and pleasant and the whole place is clean and welcoming. I would highly recommend. I haven't had a primary care doctor in years - I've always gone straight to a specialist when I'm having a problem. I figure they know their area of expertise better than anyone, and I've always had a judgment against general practitioners for being jacks of all trades, masters of none. I have finally been proven wrong and I couldn't be happier about it! I happened across Dr. Zaki's name on my insurance website and chose him based on the great Yelp reviews. Still, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I had a lot of general questions, and Dr. Zaki took the time to answer each one of them in depth. He took detailed notes and explained that he'll always have my file on him if I've got any questions. He stores everything digitally, so the information is available even when he's not at the office. He's the only doctor at the practice and promised to be the one to return my calls, no matter the time. I just went back for a follow-up, 6 weeks later, and he remembered everything about our first appointment. He'd even taken the time to speak with another specialist I'd been seeing so that they'd be on the same page and could work together to help me out. I've never had a doctor take the time or show that level of respect that Dr. Zaki does for his patients. He never seems to be rushing to the next person and - a miracle in doctor's offices - he has always been running ON TIME. We picked Dr. Zaki based on his great Yelp ratings. Um....really?! 1st visit he was rude, negative and complained about his patients ignorance. I was off put by the lack of professionalism out the gate. Red flag! My husband also went in for a 1st visit and Dr. Zaki ran some general blood tests. We get a $300 bill months later....BUT we KNOW for a fact our insurance covers theses types of tests! We call Dr. Zaki's billing...pretty much write them a roadmap of EXACTLY what codes they needed to use to so blood tests were covered. For 6 months we continued to get bills, continued to call billing and have the same conversation, they always said "ok, no problem" yet did nothing. Dr. Zaki's office finally sold our bill to a collections agency. We spoke to agency, had the same conversation we had with Dr. Zaki's billing. Guess what...bill was paid by our insurance no problem. OH...and my husband was having migraines and asked for Dr to call him 3 times regarding the medication he prescribed him. He. Never. Called. Back! He's a dick. The woman in his office are lazy. He made me feel as if I was the one to be blamed for having severe pains and nausea after my procedure. All I wanted was to follow up on my procedure and find out if what I was experiencing was normal and if there's something I can do about it; however, all I got was an aggravated response telling me he is not responsible for what I was going through. I did not accuse Dr. Zaki of doing anything wrong, yet I received such response. His rude, condescending, rushy, and apathetic attitude in conjunction with his quick decision to prescribe medication makes me feel like he is a money hungry pharmaceutical puppet. read more

I visited Dr. Zaki for the first time after an emergency room visit up in Seattle. Upon my return I needed a PCP immediately to admit me to an obgyn. I had been diagnosed with dermoid tumors. The ER doctor had told me I needed to schedule surgery. The ultrasound wasn't ready for Dr. Zaki to see yet. He immediately acted as though I wasn't correct. He was condescending and asked me if I had eaten anything to cause the intense pain that had sent me to the ER. He told me it would probably go away. He was disrespectful and downright wrong. A week later, I had scheduled surgery (thank goodness) with an obgyn, but another pain episode sent me to the ER again. My right ovary had suffered torsion, I had a dead organ in my system, and I was septic. I was taken care of at Huntington Hospital. They saved my life and gave me emergency surgery. Dr. Zaki was of no help. If he would have acted sooner, I might still have my right ovary. I will never be visiting Dr. Zaki again. read more

I literally just left their office and had to add to all of the 5-star reviews. There are awards on the walls for his excellence in customer/patient care and it's obvious that he deserves every one of them. He was attentive, kind, funny, direct and easy. His staff was very good, very helpful, very kind. I went in for migraine and stress-related issues, and because I've had bad experiences at medical appointments before (I'm a horrible self-advocate) my husband came with me to make sure I spoke up if they didn't believe me. So a couple of things to say in regards to that: 1. My husband DIDN'T need to be there. Dr Zaki took me seriously, he addressed each symptom as part of a bigger stress-solving issue, and have a follow up appointment to see if his suggestions make improvements. 2. because my husband WAS there, Dr Zaki noticed that he had bad phlegm/congestion issues and addressed them with him. It wasn't even his appointment, but it is so obvious how attentive and observant he is, and how much he cares, he helped my husband out anyway. Amazing. Overall, if you want a Doctor that puts aside the BS, cuts out the unnecessary parts that can make visiting so tedious, and streamlines & perfects the appointment process, go see this man.
