We had a great experience at Dan Dan last week. I tried the dry pot dish with chicken as my protein and thankfully was able to cut the heat level in half (I could handle a 2... not sure about a 4!!). The staff was very kind and the drinks were good. Everything was very quick and overall it was a great experience. read more

Amazing Food and drinks ! High recommend! Got a delicious gin and berry jam drink and pine nut shrimp dish.

I really enjoyed the food here. The flavors really come through and the service was fast and friendly. I also enjoyed the aesthetic and the sky lighting. They also have fried icecream !! Give this place a try read more

I was very impressed with DanDan. There'a a location right around the corner from me in Center City so I wasn't too eager to go here, but we got real hungry while in Ardmore before heading back to the city and noodles sounded good. Well, they were good. We got a few plates to share, and it was all really impressive. The sichuan fried rice was perfectly cooked and just the right spice level. The dandan noodles were also incredible, and the tofu was a nice touch on top. They did a great job with the interior design. I'll definitely keep this in my mind for when I'm in the suburbs next. read more

I have been to DanDan center city and Wayne locations and the Ardmore location is my favorite of the three. I love the interior design of the restaurant, especially the sunroom section. My favorite dish is cumin lamb hand-ripped noodle. Dry pepper chicken is a little bit too spicy for me (I ordered the mild version), I would only recommend it to those love spicy food. Oyster mushroom is on the sweeter side but I like it as well. read more

The best Asian cuisine I've ever had so far! Not only was the food delicious, it came out super fast and hot. We had the dry pot chicken and it was seasoned to perfection. Our server suggested it and she was spot on with it. We will definitely be back! read more

I haven't eaten in the physical space itself but I can definitely comment on my new favorite takeout spot! The food is the freshest I have had in this area for the cuisine type. The chicken and water chestnut wonton soup is my favorite now and I can eat it daily! The broth is fragrant and so comforting. The wontons are just the right amount of chew with great flavor. The Dan Dan noodles with minced pork is their signature and honestly a must! However, I prefer the delicate flavors of the rice noodles and even the ginger shrimp fried rice! Be sure to stop by this location if you're in the mood for great food! read more

Sat outside which is a nice setup overall. We were seated immediately. The manager came out soon after to see if we were ready to order - we were not and asked for a few more minutes. Then they forgot about us así about 10 or so minutes later I went in and asked the hostess for a server. Server came out, she was very pleasant. The Dan Dan noodles as always were good. The fish aromatic pot was god as well but super over salted. Two bites and we realized we couldn't eat it. They replaced it quickly - still salted but edible. At the end they forgot about us again and we had to go in to ask for the check. Overall - it was ok - nothing terrible but also not rushing to return. read more

Always nice and spicy food. Service is good, restaurant is clean with the occasional dust on ledges, but not bad.

Dan Dan has become one of our go to date night dinners with friends. The food is fantastic. Sometimes you still have to wait awhile for a table even with a reservation, which is annoying, and the service is a little slow with drinks, but all in all it's a good place! read more

Food very very spicy, however one of us enjoyed, service terrible, waitstaff basically ignored us, only two people, ordered brown rice after we finally got someone s attention --- you did not get it! ! If you like very spicy food and being ignored go otherwise don't go! Ambience ok attractive if you go don't sit next to the wall where the vines will join you for dinner!!! read more

Finally Ardmore has some place good to eat. Price is reasonable. Customer service is fast. It was too fast they would bring whatever is ready first. So your entre might comes first then appetizers. They don't have much deserts selection. read more

I hoped Dan Dan would be the Han Dynasty in the burbs. But it's unreasonably expensive for lower quality and lots of filler. See if you can find the chicken in the mass of onions and peppers? read more

Second time eating at Dan Dan. One of the rare times I have to say I actually enjoyed the takeout I got the first time better than what I had dining at the establishment. First let's review my at restaurant experience. We had hot and sour soup, turmeric fried chicken wings, Dan Dan noodles, dry pot beef, and spicy green pepper corn fish. The hot and sour soup was very well flavored. Would've been a four or five star soup except for the fact that there was just about nothing in it. A bowl to be shared between three people which was plenty but maybe a total of three little strips of tofu and a tiny bit of egg drop. No mushrooms, no meat, almost all broth. So let's give it three stars because at least the broth was good. The Dan Dan noodles were excellent. Five stars for them. Really good sesame flavor. Pork and scallions fresh. Definitely yummy and definitely didn't leave a drop behind. The Taiwanese turmeric chicken wings seemed good at first. Really nice crispy exterior with a tasty red chili cumin salt combination dipping powder. Then we all started to taste a little bit of blood. We were eating outdoors at night so it was pretty dark. Well really dark. Which might explain why we didn't see the blood red uncooked chicken in the middle of the wings. Definitely raw and bloody in the middle. Confirmed with the flashlights on our phones. Kind of gross once we saw that so I'm gonna go one star on the chicken wings. Cooked right they probably would've been four stars. The dry pot beef was very tasty with a nice amount of vegetables, but a little light on the bamboo. The flavor was good but it was a little bit over salty for me. Four stars there. The Fish in the spicy green pepper corn sauce was cooked well. I think I've discovered I'm not a fan of strong Sichuan peppercorn flavor. I'm just not into having my food taste like I just licked a 9 V battery. I won't hold that against them though as the vegetables were plentiful and I'm sure this is how it's supposed to taste. I'm going to give this one four stars even though it wasn't my taste. If you like very strong Szechuan peppercorn flavor than you'll probably like this a lot. Overall between the undercooked chicken balanced out by the excellent Dan Dan noodles I'm going to give this a generous three stars. Previously we ordered takeout and got the Dan Dan noodles, hot and sour soup, and hand torn noodles with spicy beef and all were very good . The takeout experience was a strong four stars. I'm sure I will order again here but I will probably be sticking to their noodle dishes and appetizers for the most part because I think they're the part of the menu that I will like here. I'm definitely out on the chicken. ;-) read more

Horrible service. They had 4-5 open tables outdoor, still asked you to wait for 45min to get a table. Also, the food is not authentic Chinese food and much more expensive than usual, will not recommend at all. read more

Savory, flavorful, unique dishes, busy place, loved the inside décor, especially the painting on the ceilings in our little corner. Service was spotty, but we were a group of 10 on a Saturday night at 6pm before a show at the Ardmore Music Hall. Cocktails, I had two excellent Sazerac and my wife some tasty mules. The DanDan noodles were cooked well and not too spicy but still great. I had the lamb cumin and the portion was big, meaty slices, not chunky which was good, and slathered well with the sauce. Will be back. read more

The food was very good but the staff not so much. The staff has an average age of 30 I would say. They can't seem to recognize the difference between a person who has had too much to drink and a person who is from Paris France. I went to dinner with a friend on Thursday evening (5/15); we sat at the bar. The woman who I was with has a voice that carries and maybe appears to have more of a flat tongue when she speaks, but for God sake that does not make her unruly or drunk. She was not being rude, arguing or making any kind of seen at the bar. She was polite, kind and demonstrated very acceptable behavior but when she asked for another lychee martini the staff never brought it; when she asked again they told her she was flagged. For what??? She displayed no bad behavior. The saddest part is the staff did not have the courage to tell her until she ask for the martini again. Then she was told she was flagged. How immature of a staff to not inform her immediately! The staff went on to state the manager made the decision but the manager never appeared at the bar area that evening. Grow up employees of DanDan Ardmore and have some integrity to stand on your own two feet and tell the truth. read more

I didn't like the lamb I ordered. Cumin lamb with noodles. it was hard on the tastebuds and before you say anything. I love cumin, actually cook with it at home. This place was just not what I expected, I would return to try another dish but not likely in the near future. read more

My family brought me here for Mother's Day lunch today. We ordered a variety of things to share. First time I'd ever had dumplings with soup on the inside but they were good. They got two orders of fries without the sauce, for the kids, and I sampled them. Great texture, and I liked the dishes, ceramic in the shape of an open take-out box. The scallion dish with lamb was excellent. Most of the other things were spicy, which I don't like so I didn't taste them, but everybody was happy except my granddaughter, as she was unfamiliar with the offerings. They didn't have anything to entertain kids, so bring something if you have kids in your group. read more

Service is nonexistent, and every server either had an attitude or couldn't be bothered to do anything. We never once got a water refill, which was already ridiculous, but then we listened to another server talk down to a woman who asked about coffee and was rudely told they no longer offer coffee, and watched another eat fries off a plate en route to the customer. Appalling. The food is nothing special, and definitely not worth the price. read more

Food is good but on the pricier side. Also the food can be too salty or too spicy (even for me).

We are so excited to have DanDan in Ardmore. We used to go to their Rittenhouse location when we lived in city and since moving to the suburbs have been going to Wayne. Thrilled to be able to enjoy Dandan more regularly. The dinner was delicious, cocktails are excellent and the service was great. We sat outside and it was lovely. They have a Phoenix Down drink!!!! I have been enjoying the Dan Dan in Wayne but I happened to be in Ardmore so I stopped in. I was so impressed with the drinks (which I'm sure are also good at Wayne). But the ambiance is a bit better in Ardmore than Wayne (but again both are really nice). One of the staff members, Steph, is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and fast. This local restaurant group knows what they are doing. All of their food items are incredible. read more

Low end Sichuan sneakily descends to cheap takeout level foods. This outpost of the Rittenhouse restaurant slapped a brand on cheap takeout - pay gourmet Sichuan prices for your same suburban guilty pleasure - gong bao ji ding was just "general" sautéed chicken sans sauce - the most lily livered conception imaginable- this is after requesting their most incendiary level, suspecting their Scandinavian lithe touch but failing to predict their incompetency in reading instructions. read more

Dinner July 2023. Sticky floors. Then a hair was in the cellophane noodles. Server said he would take that off the bill, then "forgot". Service just awful. We sat for a long time without an order. We got take-out so I can't speak to the waiter/waitress service nor the ambiance, but I am a Chinese food snob of the highest order. The food was outstanding. It was a Saturday night yet they were on time and the food was still hot when it arrived on the dinner table. They got every item in the order exactly as it was we specified. Everything on the menu seemed like it could be a hit for various tastebuds. We ordered the Pork Soup Dumplings, Pork Dumplings in Chili Oil & Turmeric Fried Chicken Wings . All were absolutely delicious not one thing bad could be said about any of them. Service could be a little more visual to customers when needed, over all the whole experience was phenomenal. read more

Used to be good, they wanted to charge $20 just to make a reservation. Too greedy.

I hate to write a lackluster review (especially when I LOVE the food), but I ate at Dan Dan last night & they brought everyone's food out but mine. No one came to check on us, so by the time someone did stop by the table, I let them know I was still waiting on my food. Eventually someone else came by. No apology offered, just a half-hearted offer to start making the dish then. By then the rest of the table was finished eating, so I declined. I think they should have offered to take an app of our bill or, at the very least, apologized for the oversight? I'll probably be back--but to the Wayne location. read more

It was a beautiful day to eat outside on their patio! We enjoyed dan dan noodles with pork, scallion pancakes, crisp spicy cucumbers and pork belly on bao buns. We appreciated the portions (large) and the amount of spice/heat. It is nice that the menu tells you how spicy each dish is (1 for least amount of spice to 5 for most amount of spice). You can request less or more. Our meal was perfect as prepared. The service was also great! read more

Let's start with the pluses. 1) The service is extremely friendly , flexible, and competent although apparently understaffed at times. 2) The scallion pancake beats any I've had anywhere in mainland China and I've had many at home and out. It was flakey and not at all greasy. Maybe that's my bias from having to many versions in Shanghai where if your not Shanghainese you would consider many dishes too greasy. 3) There's a nice patio which allows outside dining without being cramped. Now Here is where it fell apart. I, who should have known better, ordered the Lychee Fish. Ok. That's not anything I've ever seen in China but the description was compelling. I thought maybe it was a Taiwanese thing. To be fair, the fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. But the sauce was boring which in my experience would be considered a major offense to anyone on the mainland. Worse the vegetables in the sauce appeared to be frozen carrots and peas...... read more
