Amazing!! First of all, our server, Nikita was an absolute delight. I enjoyed the sweet potato waffle with the chicken fillet entree that I chose and thanks to our server, my companion chose the oatmeal waffle so that we were able to split each and try both. I will admit that both waffles were extremely similar and I wouldn't even know that they were different if I hadn't split them with her but it was still a great idea and I appreciated her kindness as she served us. The sweet vanilla swear was to die for!! Also, the honey mustard was excellent and tangy, just as noted on the menu. Definitely would return!
Came here while in town for Dreamville. Stopped in for brunch. (Best to make an appointment on weekends) We came Sat morning and it was over a 45 min wait so we made an appointment for the next day. The food and service were so good. My friend and I both got chicken and waffles. I got the blueberry smash not knowing what to expect but it was so good I put it all over the waffle before the syrup. It is perfect as a butter addition to the waffle instead of blueberries inside. And then i got the whiskey drizzle which was another thing that made it pop. I got the greens as a side and they were good with a kick to them that was just perfect. I definitely had no to go box this time. lol
The food here is amazingly delicious! The food has so much flavor. I had The Dueling Rosters with a side of Ceci's cheesy mac. I also had the Baby Blueberry and Strawberry Crème smear. Everything I ate was so good. It tasted so good that my youngest helped me finish my lunch. It's not often that I feel like I eat a meal and every item is the star but this was the case with this meal. The mac and cheese was one of the more interesting and different flavored mac and cheeses I've ever had and I loved it. The staff was friendly and the wait wasn't long when we arrived. I would be mindful of going during busy times. If you've never eaten here, you're missing out and should definitely go.
Went here after a recommendation from a friend. She recommended this location of Dames in particular. We stopped by on a weekend morning without a reservation with a party of 4 and were quoted a 45 minute wait - the wait was closer to 20 as we got seated quite quickly after walking around the shopping center. Service was good and fast. Food came out super fast too. There were so many options for butter, which surprised me as a someone from the dc area. Can't wait to come back!
I ordered some food to go here. The chicken was phenomenal! Because it was a pick up order, I got to choose one sauce. I ended up doing the Calypso sauce. It was more like a BBQ. I would've likely chosen something else because I wasn't expecting a "BBQ-esque" type sauce but it still had very nice flavor. The chicken was seasons and fried perfectly! I wish I was able to order a combination of drumstick/wings in a single meal order that was coupled with a waffle. The only way I could do that on an online pick up order would've been to order multiple meals. The service was quick and they gave me everything I needed in my to go bag that I requested. I wasn't a huge fan of the sides. The Mac and cheese had a strong seasoning that I felt overpowered the Mac and cheese. It was also more "pasta like" and less like the thick and creamy Mac and cheese I'm looking for when getting soul food. The waffle didn't travel super well. It ended up being a little soft because of the way it was packed in the to go plate. It was okay but I think it would've been much better if I ate it at the restaurant fresh. I also ordered fruit. And I like how they actually let you know what kind of fruit they will be giving you. "Fruit" can be vague without a description. It's helpful to know what's included so I appreciated that. Overall I'd go again and likely pivot and try new sides. Definitely add this to your list but I suggest dining in for a more elevated experience.

For some reason the door wasn't shut completely either. Service was friendly at first and my order came out fairly quickly but it was so slow to get the check. Groups that came in after me that had a different server left long before I received my check. There was a wait to get a seat at the restaurant by this point too. It was rather empty when I arrived. You'd think they'd want to turn over the tables. The tables did not seem too clean either. I went with the sweet potato waffle; a chicken cutlet and blueberry schmear. When it was brought out I could tell the chicken was overcooked. It wasn't just mine as I looked at what the other tables were getting. I didn't taste the sweet potato at all. I did like the blueberry schmear. I don't see myself returning here for a meal again.
10/13/23: My boyfriend raved about this place for the longest time. He was dying to bring me & swore up and down that I'd love it. I think that review was a bit overrated. Though I love chicken & like waffles, this place was underwhelming. We were seated quickly. The place had a decent amount of customers eating and waiting on food. I took my time reviewing the menu. I thought they'd have more for me to choose from, but they didn't. They had all kinds of smears to go on the waffle but I just ended up ordering a waffle, wings, and regular butter with fruit on the side. My boyfriend got a waffle and chicken cutlet. The food came out WARM. The waffle & chicken wings were soggy. I ate what I could and then asked for a to go box. The waitress was doing a lot, so she was slow to check back on us, to bring the box, and to bring the check. When she finally brought the check, she ended up venting about other customers she had earlier who weren't the nicest. We get it but keep that to yourself. For the price of that food, we could've went to Chick-fil-A, saved money, & I would've been happier. The food just wasn't fresh & I don't like soggy food. Luckily my boyfriend is greedy and ended up eating my leftovers later that night. So, it didn't go to waste. They need more staff. Maybe the hostess can get off of her cellphone and pitch in from time to time. Every time I looked up at her, she was on her phone. I don't plan to go back.
This restaurant is always a delight. Everything on the menu is worth recommending. While the service can feel a bit slow at times, the perfectly seasoned and cooked chicken, along with the flavorful schmears (flavored butter), make the experience fantastic. Though the ambiance is simple and not particularly fancy, the quality of the food and service more than make up for it.
Came here for brunch on a Monday and I was so exited to try it. After seeing pics online I could not stop thinking about this chicken, and they met and exceeded my expectations. The few yelp reviews that claimed the chicken was ehhh must have been stricken with covid and had no taste because the chicken was so juicy, moist and well seasoned! The waffle was good, but it was probably due to the shmear. I had the 3 wings on the classic waffle with blueberry shmear and k pop drizzle. We also had a side of greens (so delicious) and the cheese grits (not seasoned and I would not order again). The strawberry lemonade mimosa was superb and the service was great. I'm definitely coming back. This is the spot I would take friends and family from out of town to.

Saw this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Boy, I'm glad I did. The whole family loved this place. Upon walking in, the space clean and nicely spaced out between tables. Our server was very nice and knew the menu inside and out offering what most customers and the staff liked. She didn't need a pen and paper and took our order which there were 7 of us. Food arrived within 10 minutes hot, fresh, and delicious!! We all left with full bellies!! I'm definitely coming back.
This is the Cary location of the infamous Dames Chicken and Waffles in downtown Durham and they are just as delicious! Freshly fried, crispy (without being overly breaded) chicken and moist waffles. With flavor packed butter shmears to top it off! Their collard greens are some of the best around, nice amount of spice. I always get the wings, sweet potato waffles and maple pecan shmear with calypso (spicy bbq sauce). And always always get the mean greens, they're a must! Service is always top notch and the dining area is nice and bright.
We stumbled upon this place while looking for a tropical smoothie lol it's right next door but we opted to try this place for breakfast. I am SO glad we did!!! We were seated and greeted by Desmond (Des) on a sunny Friday morning. He was super friendly and went over the menu with us. He gave us his recommendations and we went with them! We ordered the Oatmeal vegan waffles, cheese grits; 3 wings each, and collard greens. The waffle was SOOOOOO YUMMY and the wings were seasoned perfectly!! I had the maple pecan shmear and vanilla almond syrupy thing to top my waffle. It was so darn good and Des was super cool, helpful, and awesomely attentive to us! Great Food Great Service Great restaurant I will definitely dine here the next time I'm in NC!

This is a little gem in the area. A simple look and bright ambiance this restaurant did not disappoint. Greeted and seated immediately by friendly staff. Now the chairs were a little worn but that didn't matter. Our server was very friendly and came to the table right away servers the drinks and took the order quickly. Let's talk about how quickly our meal came out. We ordered and 10 minutes later the food was at the table piping hot and ready to be eaten. The chicken was cooked perfectly and tasted good all the way through. The waffle was light and the cinnamon was a great added touch. The strawberry spread was delicious you didn't even need syrup for the waffle. And the sweet tea was to die for. Loved visiting this restaurant while in the area. Great place. read more
Come here often because this location always has ample parking. Making a reservation through Yelp helped us to sit immediately during the Sunday brunch rush. Food came out quick and fresh. Our waitress was great and attentive even though it seemed like she had several tables. The only downside was I didn't love the Bellini because it tasted like it was made with sweet wine and one that was open for a while. There wasn't many bubbles. Nonetheless food is consistently good making this one of my favorite easy casual brunch spots! read more

The food was so so good!!! I read all the reviews but I am so glad that I tried it anyways!! All food was great and make sure to get a smear because that set the waffle off! I am definitely coming back!! Store nice and clean. Staff beyond nice ALL of them. Restaurant in a shopping plaza parking not an issue. Can't wait to go back already planning my next trip!! read more

Visiting Cary, for NC Tech convention. My co workers stopped in last week and raved about. And it's black owned, so I was definitely excited to try. Service was fast and friendly. Came in about 3pm and only two other parties inside. Lucky for us. Food came in about 10 min or maybe less. Food was hot and flavorful. The only thing I didn't care for were the greens. They were tender and seasoned well, but the sweetness threw me and my mom off. I know some ppl cook their greens with sugar but that's not really my steelo. We were in town for a graduation and I was told that I had to try Dame's before I left. We went on a Sunday morning, before the crowd started arriving. Dame's is known for chicken & waffles, so of course I had to get them. I ordered the Light Brown Leghorns, but subbed the chicken legs for wings. They have a variety of shmears (infused butter) and drizzles (sauce) to choose from. We also ordered mimosas. The food was good and filling. I couldn't finish all of it. Had a great brunch date with my best friend at Dame's. It was a gorgeous spring day and the natural light coming in through the windows was really nice. I ordered the Orange Speckled Chabo and it was so good! All the flavors really work well together. We had a mimosa bucket that the two of us could barely finish and we loved it. When you go, ask for Chelsea! She's great! read more
Dame's is one of my favorite restaurants and now my hubby enjoys it too. We went for breakfast after early voting on a Monday. Walked right in and was seated. It was mostly empty when we arrived but not when we left. I had my usual shrimp and grits which is consistently good. The waitress said they gave me extra shrimp because they were out of chicken sausage. I was able to take leftovers because of the large portion. It was dinner for that day and still delicious. Hubby had fried wings, Mac and cheese and some kind of fried potato chip. He enjoyed all and cleaned his plate. He says they fry the best chicken because it's thoroughly cooked and flavorful. I was in the mood for something sweet and salty so we stopped into Dames for lunch. It was a Sunday so the wait was about an hour but we stopped into Bass Pro while we waited. Once our table was ready we went right over and was seated and waited on immediately. I decided to order a gingerbread waffle with the strawberry shmear and 3 chicken legs. Overall I enjoyed my meal but I was not impressed. I felt that $16 for a waffle and three chicken legs was a little much and the syrup was prepackaged smuckers. I just feel like if your main item is waffles you would want to provide quality syrup (kind of like cracker barrel's syrup). I really enjoyed my waffle the gingerbread flavor paired really well with the strawberry shmear and the chicken was crispy and had really great flavor. The cheesy grits were kind of bland and were served lukewarm so the cheese didn't melt to well. The mac n cheese had an interesting amount of spice that added a really nice flavor but was also served like warm so the cheese wasn't as impressive. Overall the food was good and the restaurant was clean. The service was also friendly and welcoming which made my experience an enjoyable one. read more

Table for 2 on a Saturday and we waited probably around 25-30 minutes... The good thing is that there is a coffee shop next door and a Bass Pro Shop so you can go for a retail stroll while you wait for your table to be ready. The selection of chicken and waffle plates was very impressive and the establishment definitely lives up to the hype for that reason! Only downfall IMO is the ratio of chicken to waffle could be better considering the plate cost. But all and all a good experience and I'm happy to say I dined at Dame's! read more

(8/14/23) This place is EVERYTHINGGGGG. This past Saturday as, my friend and I tried this place for brunch. The atmosphere is lovely, soft jazz music and spacious seating. Our waitress, Maria was sooo sweet and helpful. She was nice and patient with us as we struggled to choose with all the menu options/combinations. Our other waitress the time was also amazing! Sooo nice and considerate. Made it point to check in on us and make sure we were straight (can't remember her name). Only negative thing about this place was the mimosas. Tasted as if was made with a flat, cheap champagne/sparking wine. But I'm fine with a regular drink to go with this good ass food. Their non-alcoholic flavored lemonades/teas are delicious!! I got the 4 whole wings with the seasonal strawberry cheesecake infused waffle with a side of the "mean greens." My friend had the Sassy shrimp and grits. The greens were on the spicy side, not my favorite but not the worst. The shrimp and grits were DELICIOUSSSSSS and flavorful throughout. The wings were piping hot and seasoned to the bone The food and service was so good, we doubled down and came back again that Monday before heading back home. Dames will definitely be a MUST-Visit next time I'm in town read more

Perhaps the best chicken and waffles I've had in a restaurant! Don't be fooled by the strip mall exterior; you are in for a sweet treat. From reading reviews, I was concerned about the wait and speed of service but neither presented a problem. We were warmly greeted and seated quickly. Our server was super patient in answering our many questions about the shmears and drizzles. I landed on making my own concoction with two cutlets, a sweet potato waffle and maple pecan shmear. It was delicious! Our food was literally at our table within 5 minutes from ordering, it seemed. My meal was enhanced by a pretty tasty peach mimosa. I must say that the chicken cutlets were flavored like my grandmother was in the kitchen. Definitely give this spot a try! read more

Delicious food. Was planning to dine in but had to order to go because a bad rain storm was coming and I walked over from a nearby hotel. Ordered the classic that came with a well seasoned and juicy chicken cutlet, a soft, hot waffle with peach smear and a side of fruit (pineapples and strawberries). Even after a 6 minute walk back to the hotel the food was still hot and everything in the bag was in tact. The staff was very nice and I really enjoyed my dinner this evening. read more

My first time here and I loved it! I ordered the Fried Chicken Salad with homemade ranch dressing. It was amazing. I like having the option to get grilled chicken instead of fried chicken for my salad. Most places want you to take it as described on the menu. I stayed with the fried. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned. I wish I'd taken a picture of my food before I devoured it. The servers were attentive and although I'm not a huge fan of being called "babe", the service was excellent. Great music (I can listen to smooth jazz all day) and the decor is nice. Good line-of-sight to the kitchen. I like being able to see the cooks do their thing. Definitely coming back. read more
Elevated chicken and waffles in a casual restaurant. Still a must visit whenever you're in the triangle. At the moment they have 3 locations. This location has convenient parking and large space. You have more options during dinner & weekend with the expanded menu, more premade options and sides included. During lunch you do have the options of Dueling Rooster and Light Brown Leghorns from the dinner/weekend menu, which is my favorite. I prefer the chicken legs over the wings. The chicken legs are SO JUICY with a satisfyingly crunchy skin. Honestly it's still the best fried chicken I've had anywhere. Plus the waffle, shmear, drizzle, and sides, makes such a great meal. Shoutout to our server Ashley, who took such great care of us, and was so pleasant and sweet. She seemed to really enjoy what she does! read more

Smaller than imagined. The Cary location sits in a strip mall next to Pro Bass Shops. Great landmark. Andre was great accommodating our large party. We all ordered the same thing except for 2. Lol. Reservations are strongly recommended as they open up at 10am on Saturdays. Sitting was comfortable with tables pulled together. There is also booth seating as well. It's a long overdue visit and babeeee dem wings was on fire. Collard greens was da bomb. Seasoned and spicy how I like them. Waiter was very attentive and refilled us frequently. Stawberry mimosa Nuff said. Please do checkout any of Dame's Chicken and Waffles locations. Greensboro has jazz while you brunch. Cary did us right! read more

We've always loved visiting Dame's. Until now, we've only been to the Greensboro location. We went expecting the same level of service and great food. Unfortunately, we only got one of those. Our server seemed rushed and discombobulated throughout our dining experience. I ordered a mimosa and she brought it to me in the same glass as the water. I know they had champagne flutes because another table had them! I didn't say anything because it was pointed out they I got more in the glass I had. However, the "mimosa" was not good. It was pink moscato and pink lemonade. By definition, a mimosa contains champagne! Now for the food. It arrived piping hot. However, we had to wait on our server to bring us butter and syrup. I mean really! Chicken and waffles are in the name! You should automatically bring butter and syrup to the table!! Our chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I verified this place is indeed, authentic. Everything I tried tasted exactly how it would if my mom, grandma, aunt or uncle prepared it. I'm live out of town and we don't have places like this. The service was spectacular. I'll definitely be back when I have an opportunity. read more
I've being coming to Dame's since 2011 and I've seen many iterations of their recipes, so I'll say this isn't the best version but better than the last version. The Mac n' cheese is okay, significantly better than version that used shell noodles. The "cucumber salad" was not much of a salad. BUT, the sweet potato waffle & chicken are still great. I'll always come back for the sweet potato waffle. Service was quick and efficient. The server checked in on us a regularly. And the vibe and decor is still chill and family-oriented. read more

I give this restaurant, 4.5:5. Service delivery, and attention to customers is a complete five. I was greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant. I have to admit, the place was not crowded when I got there, but it was completely packed and a line outside the door once I left. It's apparent that this place is really popular. The ambience is really nice. This really shouldn't be an issue, but I could definitely appreciate that. All of the paintings that were hung on the walls were ALL "leveled." I can't tell you how many times I've gone to an establishment and their pictures and artwork have not been "leveled." This place has done this right. The food was really good. I had three wings, the regular waffle, accompanied by strawberry syrup. The only complaint was that my waffle was a little soggy... I don't know why that was. Maybe it was cooked prior and then warmed up in the microwave...? I don't know. That is, however my only critique. The sweet tea was phenomenal. read more
