I LOVE DAISO! My mother-in-law first introduced me to Daiso in the Bay Area a few years ago and I have been addicted ever since. Daiso has a wide range of inexpensive items from $1.50 and up. They carry almost everything possible with a variety of items being useful and probably more that are useless. I've visited many Daiso locations and although the Irvine location isn't the biggest, it has all the essentials you'll need, and then some. I love going to Daiso! Japanese goods are the best. Especially if you can get them for a buck fifty plus tax. I can spend a long time here just looking at all the goodies. In fact, it is a bonding activity that I share with my MIL. I bought a bread knife here for a buck fifty plus tax. What a steal! Service was awful at this location.  The man that works there is always on the intercom or loudly talking to someone. They have two self check outs. What is the use of having self check out if they are watching you the whole time while checking out. Felt like a hawk was watching over my shoulder and breathing on my back. At least give us some space! Where is the social distancing. This store has signs right when you enter and the employees don't even practice that. I was finishing up paying and the man rudely asked to see my receipt. The receipt did not even start printing when he asked. He was watching me the whole time on what I was scanning my items. When I grabbed my items to leave. He yelled asking for my receipt. I told him you asked for it already less than a minute ago. I was the only person at the self check out too. Pink explosion in the store! The first time I went with my cousin, we made it a point to explore every aisle. It was exhausting (but fun)! I got some pretty useful stuff as it took a lot of willpower to NOT buy all the cute/useless stuff. My best purchase had to be a gel wrist pack for my mouse hand. It feels so good on my wrist when I use my mouse and it's great for preventing carpal! :) Also got home slippers, and those travel vacuum packs that you stuff articles of clothing in, and you can suck all the air out for optimal suitcase space! This is a frugal and deal loving person's playground. I purchased a beautiful tea pot for $4.00 and $1.50 for each matching cup at least 5 different times over the course of 6 months to give as gifts to my "non Asian friends". I also purchased many random great gifts like felt, a haircutting cape for kids, stainless steel containers for my kids lunch boxes, kitchen utensils, reusable grocery bags as party favor bags, house slippers etc... Prepare to go down every aisle just because there are so many cool things. My favorite section is definitely the kitchen section. This Daiso store is small. It fits in with the Mitsuwa in this shopping center, which is also smaller than normal. I bought a bunch of stuff that ended up being (surprise surprise) super low quality. But I also bought a bunch of stuff that was decent quality for a discount, so it is pretty much a hit and miss. A-ok rating because the parking lot is a real hassle to navigate because the lanes are slanted one way or the other yet goes both ways. read more

The first time I ever went to a Daiso was in San Francisco (which was HUGE). By comparison, this Daiso is pretty small. That said, they pack a lot of merchandise into this store, with a wonderfully varied selection as well! From cute little trinkets to kitchenware, it's always fun to browse the aisles here, looking at all of the unique designs, and for such an affordable price! I normally wouldn't buy such cheap kitchen sets, but I saw a set that seemed to be calling my name. What is there not to like about Daiso? Everything is $1.50 (unless marked otherwise)! I first knew of Daiso when I visited Japan many years back and have loved it ever since! I was disappointed that they did not have any in socal at the time but am very happy that they are now here! I have purchased a variety of items from here, ie face masks, pens/highlighters, bowls & cups (made in Japan), household items, Japanese rice crackers, and etc! Many different items, anyone and everyone can find something here! Cheap and awesome! Whenever I am in the Irvine area, I always make it a note to come down and visit Daiso. The Japanese know how to make everything cute and clean-- even discount stores. This place is slightly more expensive than a dollar store, at $1.50, but they have a lot of better stuff, too. Everything is so cute and colorful. It is hard not to buy anything. You can bring a rich spoiled girl here, and she will be gushing. I've even found 3 yards of lace here. At Walmart lace of the same width was $10 a yard! They have a lot of art paper, art supplies, Japanese beauty products, screen protectors for your electronics, household and kitchen gear, and yummy Japanese snacks like Pocky and Calpico. This review is for THIS location only. My review might be a bit biased because of the small size of this store, compared to the other larger stores that I've been to, for example, Vancouver. The store feels really crammed, the layout is sort of cluttered, and the aisles are very narrow. Most items are indeed $1.50 but look carefully before you buy -- especially kitchen wares. Many of them are not microwavable or dishwasher safe. Selection of most items are also limited, again, due to the size of this store. However, if you are looking for really cute Asian gadgets, stationary, or creative household items, you will find the concept here very refreshing. It's definitely not the 99 cents store or any other type of discount stores that one might have been to. Definitely worth a visit if you've never been there. What is this place? It's like the 99 cent store but $1.50 and everything is so cute and adorable! Came here to find some inexpensive plates for sushi night, but instead left with a while bunch of knick knacks! Who knew you'd find a car charger for only $1.50?!? Amazing! Literally half of the store is empty. At first, I thought it might have been because they were waiting on shipment and that everything had sold out early, but I've visited this place 3 times this past month (I was looking for a specific stationery and some floor wipes but they don't have it) and each time it gets emptier. I've asked a couple friends and they also said the place had been half empty for quite some time. Not sure if they're planning on closing this store and just getting rid of the last of their inventory, but it sure looks like it. That being said, this Daiso is pretty spacious and it's been clean each time I've stopped by. It was worth stopping by to kill some down time and to pick up some little trinkets since it's so cheap, but there really isn't anything to browse anymore. read more

I'm not a fan of .99 cents stores but Daiso is the BEST $1.50 store EVER! If you're looking for containers, chopsticks, and other random knicknacks then this place is for you. They have a lot of random stuff that will keep you busy. It's fun looking around and seeing what they have. I'm so happy that they opened up a store here in Southern California. I discovered it in the Bay area and was so sad when i realized we don't have one here. But now we do and it's wonderful! I told a lot of my friends about it and they all love the store. What's not to love about Daiso! They are starting to sell a lot of other non $1.50 options, so beware at checkout. This is my go-to spot for little trinkets or household items. It's really better quality than the dollar store. Everything is usually fairly organized, although this location had more boxes around than other locations I've been to. I'm told even though this looks like a Japan run business, it started with a Korean owner. Maybe someone can confirm that for me? The workers can be helpful SOMETIMES depending on who you ask. The cashiers up front are usually young teen/college students. But the people putting stuff back on shelves seem to be more helpful finding items. They also charge for bags here too, so be prepared with your own plastic or reusable bag. You'll most likely come out of the store with multiple items. read more

Lowest possible rating for their customer service. As a mom with an active toddler, I have my hands full. I went to pick up something for my kid and brought her along. Upon entering the store, my kid squirmed out of my arms and immediately proceeded to rummage through the merchandise. I went to grab her and saw her rip something. Before I could even inspect it, a worker there said in a judgmental tone, "you have to pay for that." Yes I know lady. I quickly picked up the item I needed and went to the register to pay. I went to give them my credit card. The worker immediately said, "you need a $10 minimum to use credit card." I thought, oh crap, now I have to randomly buy $7 more worth of stuff while juggling this kid. Another worker said, "can you come back and pay for it if we hold it for you now?" I said, "my kid is going down for her nap so I can come back tomorrow." Apparently that was not good enough for them. I asked, "is there any way you can let me pay with credit card just this once?" Apparently not. Finally, a really nice stranger offered to pay the $3 I owed them. After dealing with these workers, I was shocked to find a complete stranger being so nice to me. I literally almost teared up. The stranger said, "I know what it's like.." Too bad the people at Daiso did not have the same kind of compassion. read more

Daisies do some nice stuffs sometimes and time to time. No return policy make it hard to select one wants and/or needs. Without allowing customers are not always the key of business. It makes it tougher to all customers to select certain items. I would suggest if no return but it should at least allow exchanges within 3 days with purchase receipt requires. read more

Very nicely organized location with all of Daiso's usual goodies. Employees are helpful and can find whatever you need, and lines are organized and efficient. Not too sure what else there is to say, but this is definitely one of the better managed Daisos that I know of. read more

I'm a huge fan of Daiso. But today, they lost my business. I go here all the time and buy so much shit... easily 30/40 bucks on stuff each time I go! I bought two blow up black cats for Halloween because they were so cute. I took them home, opened it, and on and of them is printed wrong (it was like double vision). I said, okay, I'll just accept it and keep it. I blew them both up, sat them on the table, and continued watching tv. After half an hour or so, I look over and both of them are completely deflated. I came into the store this morning because I had to buy some items as usual. I spoke to Misha, who said I could return them since they were defective. I just came back and the cashier said I could only return them for the same item. He said he couldn't do anything so I asked him to call the manager. The manager proceeded to blow up both cats and make me stand there, waiting for them to deflate. As we stood there, she massaged both cats to see if she could find a hole. Yes, I wasted at least 10 minutes of my life watching her do this. Then! She told me I probably don't know how to blow them up and that I have to push in the little plastic knob to prevent it from deflating. She then said, "they're fine. No problem. Take them home." No, I'm not taking that shit home for it to deflate on me again ugh. She basically argued with me about how I don't know how to blow them up and they're fine so there's no reason to return them. I know it's 3 bucks but dude, with how much I spend here, you should at least listen to your customers! She wouldn't even let me exchange it for another item. Me and my two granddaughters were shopping in Daiso, and this wasn't our first time, either. It was around 4:00 - 4:30, November 23rd, 2020. First of all, they didn't have social distancing guidelines, they had rude customer service, and I should know, I worked in customer service in my time. And then the cashier, Sachiko, started giving me attitude and her behavior was total disrespect, ignorance, and she was putting us down and attacking us, and not answering my questions at all, and she overcharged me. She was completely refusing the expected customer service in California. I felt so terrible and I did not want to stay there for another moment, I definitely will not go back again and I need an official apology, and an explanation from the daiso management. The 100 Yen store has hit Irvine! That's $1.50 in dollars! Well, maybe not now, but it sure sound good! They literally have everything here! I buy my wet wipes here for $1.50 for a three pack of 10 wipes each! For those who know me, I am addicted to wet wipes as I cannot stand to have sticky fingers and hands. This is a great store to shop for goodie bags for both kids and adults, because they have: Office supplies, Chocolate covered biscuits, candy, makeup, false eyelashes, slippers, household goods, organizers, kitchen ware, pause for breath gardening tools, laundry items, snacks, electronics accessories and more! Everyone is friendly and focused. Shelves are constantly filled when items are dwindling and are very helpful with the questions I have posed them with. What I don't understand is why don't they add signs in English as to what some of the items are? I saw a long foil item while waiting in line and it was labeled in Japanese, big gum. Now how would non-Japanese reading folks know what it is? The kids would go ga, ga over it! Oh well... For some reason, I always forget to take pics at non eating establishments... Sorry folks, no pics for this one. Not everything is a $1.50 so be sure to check the prices before purchasing and know that I tend to walk out with at least $50.00 worth of stuff every time I am here (how the heck does that happen? This has to be the coolest store in our cookie cutter city of IRVINE. I was kinda surprised to see it opened up almost next to Mitsuwa. As everyone else wrote, this is more like a clean and cool 99¢ store. Everything is $1.5 unless otherwise stated. I could have walked out with tons of cutesy stuff but I am usually good at asking myself "what am I gonna do with this?" There are lotsa kitchen and organizer things with the simplest design that, IMHO, work much better than more expensive and sophisticated ones found at Bed, Bath, Above, and Beyond?! And it is pretty amusing to look at stuff you haven't seen before and trying to figure out "what the heck"? And my most favorite item? The handy toilet seat cover that fits in your pocket to be used at communal/public restrooms. Go green with saving some paper and I bet it feels much better to sit on it compare to paper seat covers. ;-) read more

The 100 yen store franchise from Japan has definitely been one of my favorite places to shop. I've been to both the Torrance Daiso and this location. I think both are comparable. You definitely have to buy what you want, when you see it because it might be gone next time you visit. I will admit there are so much random things that you just want to whip out your camera and take a picture or even just laugh out loud/say, omg, really? I feel the quality is a bit better than 99 cents only store and you also get much more variety. Their products are colorful and very cute. Appeals to girls frankly, but there are things appealing towards the fellas, such as the electronics section. Everything is organized, clean, and the workers here are very helpful, friendly. I've spent quite a bit of money here and I will tell you now, try to buy only things you need because with almost everything going for $1.50, it's easy to go a tad overboard. Please note that not everything is $1.50. A sticker will be placed on a product indicating a higher price, otherwise it's $1.50! This store does get crazy during the weekend since its in a super busy plaza and is only a short walk away from Mitsuwa. Furthermore, no minimum with debit cards, $10 minimum with credit cards. i think they only accept Visa & Mastercard. If you haven't been, please go. Super clean store! Almost EVERYTHING is $1.50 and some items are marked at lower or higher prices with a sticker price tag. I love, love, love this place! Be sure to give yourself at least a couple hours to shop in here and a lot of money. You'll definitely spend around $100 in no time! Just to let you know.. the stuff here aren't top of the line or high quality items. They're mostly great for trips. Others, you can use a few times and throw them away. This review is a complaint against their customer service. My friend and I just left Daiso less than 25 minutes ago flabbergasted at the way the cashier treated and said to my friend. After checking out, Dalton (the cashier) said "take the cart!" to my friend in a rude and condescending tone. At first she didn't realize he's was talking her and continued treat her rudely: Dalton (cashier): "take the cart!" Friend: "You need to tone it down and be respectful" Dalton: "Okay. Are you done?" Friend: "Okay. Grow up, Napoleon" When we walked out, my friend went back inside to get his name. The conversation went like this: Friend: "Excuse me. What is your name?" After getting his attention, he turned around trying to cover his name tag but my friend had already already glanced at it. Friend: "Dalton" Dalton: "Whoa. What are you going to do about it? Call my manager? Do you want me to give you her number?" Friend: "No, it's okay. I can manage" Dalton: "Nice fake boobs, by the way. And go fuck yourself" And the two other female cashier laughed. My friend got so off guard at the comment that she walked out. She called the headquarter/customer service line and made a complaint. He has cross the line with that comment especially to a customer and in front of other customers! No matter what the customer says to them, employees should never use profanity or anything close to that. The employer should take immediate action (whatever that may be) to prevent this awful experience to occur again. read more

What an adorable store! Everything is so well-lit, clean, and CHEAP! Also, this store is pink as... (fill in the blank). From A-Z, Daiso has almost anything you could use around the house at amazing prices. Quality wise, it is definitely a step up from your typical "99 cent" store or even your Dollar Tree. This location in particular has easy parking, ample room to move about the store, and is even located by Mitsuwa! Daiso and Mitsuwa in one plaza? How could it get any better? Oh wait, there's Mochilato near by as well! All fun "exotic" stuff in a nearby radius. I'll be stopping by this Daiso more often as I need stuff for my kitchen. Have fun! read more

A joy similar to that found by wandering the aisles of the 99 Cent Store may also be achieved (but on a different level) at Daiso. The difference is that (almost) all items are instead $1.50, Japanese, cuter, and even weirder than 99 Cent Store stuff. The "impulse buying things you didn't even realize you wanted/needed" level is quite high here. I don't know if I'd ever come here looking for something specific, but I'm sure I couldn't leave empty handed. You know, I don't even know how I ended up in this place... I was kind of standing near the Mitsuwa store, but that's about all I really remember. I think the fierce, supersonic stampede of trinket obsessed females must have created a vortex that sucked me in. Yeah, that has to be it. Well once inside, there's only one word to describe what you will see. Pink. Yup. I think there's some sort of pink radioactivity or something that has been embedded in the infrastructure. You'll pretty much be punched in the face by the pink as soon as you walk in. Literally. This is no exaggeration. Even when you aren't looking at something pink, you'll still feel the glow of it. Kind of like when you wake up in the morning and you have that foggy vision from all of the built up overnight optigoop - even when you rub your eyes it doesn't go away. This is the same kind of fog but just pink colored. Aside from the pink bombardment though, there are infinite quantities of interesting items for sale, most of which are tagged at their bargain-themed $1.50 price point. This isn't junk either. Most of the products are pretty well made and might even be useful...possibly. Note the "possibly" clause. I think 2/3 of what people buy here will not end up being used, but are bought due to being "cute". Whatever. There are also a lot of unique and yummy snacks and drinks scattered throughout the store. No pink radiation needed here, you want to buy them just to buy them. I think they apply a bunch of hypnotic buy-me compound to the edibles or something...no joke. Some of the cashiers are not the sharpest pencils in the box, and the checkout lines can get pretty long and move slowly, so be prepared. You may even want to bring someone and assign them to cashier line placeholder duty while you shop. This can be rude if you suddenly appear and cut into line with 5,000 items, but you can blame the cashiers for being so slow in the first place. Normally I wouldn't condone this type of behavior at all, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Just sayin' If you are a guy and you go in here by yourself (buying gifts, right?? right), you'll pretty much look odd and will be embarrassed. Live with it and just hurry up and get the hell out. All in all, I'd say one of the best stores/chains for this niche in the marketplace. These seem to be popping up everywhere, so if one hasn't already, there's probably one coming soon to a neighborhood near you. You have been vortex forewarned. read more

Ok this store has really cool items and a fun place since I've always been a fan of little things here and there. I recently had told my friends about it and was showing them the items I purchased and how amazing it was. Their price is what attracts people to go in and not come out empty handed. BUT OH MY GOD Horrible horrible horrible staff... Worst customer service and most awful encounter I've ever experienced! I WAS VERBALLY ASSAULTED today by one of their cashiers while the other two laughed. If Daiso wants to expand their territory in the United States more as they seem to be opening new locations and be successful..they should invest in training their employees on how to treat customers. Wow wow wow. This is like a Japanese Dollar Tree, but instead it is $1.50, unless they have price tags that says $3 or $4...which is RARE. Those $3-44 are like shirts and chairs.
