I'm so glad this Japanese gem has a location in Houston. The place is sparkly clean with shiny white floors. Everything is a little over a dollar unless otherwise noted (if there isn't a price label then it's probably the general dollar price). There's an assortment of items from household items, snacks, socks, stationary etc. The place is small but has all the necessities. One day I aim to a house full of Daiso goods and feel like I have my life together. Who loves daiso? I LOVE DAISO! This daiso felt a little bit smaller than the ones I have been to, but I still had a great time. I went with my SO and his child for their first experience... the kid loved it. He found ten toys within minutes of just getting there. And kept playing around for over an hour as I shopped. This address is a bit in the outskirts of the city, but easy enough to get to. I recently heard about Daiso described as a Japanese dollar store, so I decided to go check it out. After two visits, I agree and, even though not everything is from Japan or costs a dollar, I still think this is the best description of the types of products and what to expect. From what I've noticed, most everything costs about $1.50, unless it has a price tag saying otherwise. During my first visit, I didn't see anything over $5, until my second visit when the Christmas purchases were out and they had a 6 ft. tree for $15. They also have a no returns policy, so you get what you pay for. Products seem to rotate often and if you don't buy something when you see it, there's no guarantee it will be there or be restocked as a regular item later on. They have a section for crafts that was very busy both times. The storage and kitchen sections were the ones I liked most - a lot of unique products and cute decorative items. They also have a very well stocked Asian snacks section. For the Sanrio lovers, there's also a special section for little knick-knacks with a bunch of the characters available (photo). read more

Daiso is unlike any other dollar store you walk into. . It's super colorful and whimsical. This is a thrifty Japanese shop that let's your imagination run wild. It's perfect for children, teachers and the creative type. Daiso has gifts, novelties, toys, and just about anything you can think of. It reminds me of the store "5 Below" simply because of the socks, blankets and t-shirts offered at a low price. Unlabeled items are automatically priced for $1.50. Items priced with a label typically range from about $4-8 dollars. Not a bad thing for your wallet. Unless you go on a rampage and clean out the entire store. I have bought Japanese gum, iced coffee and products for the house from here. They have a great selection of ceramic plates, bowls and serving ware. All imported from Japan, so you won't have to worry about chemical laced plates. They have cutely printed boxes for storage ware, office supplies and even beauty supplies. There is a huge section stocked with Japanese snacks such as potato chips, sweet breads and chocolates. I'm not a fan of all of the snacks specifically because of their ingredients. But the chewing gums are great! I went to Daiso twice over their grand opening weekend. A few items were completely wiped out on my second trip. Not surprised with the huge rush and all the families visiting at this time. I recommend checking out this spot when it calms down a bit. This is Daiso's second location, the first location is over by Katy which is a bit of a trek. Parking is plentiful and the shelves filled with useful items and items you didn't even realized you needed or wanted. This place is amazing for cheap household items! Now that my beloved FIT on bellaire closed down, I am glad that there is a great alternative for quality items for cheap prices. Most things were $1.50 unless otherwise noted. I am glad that this second location of Daiso opened because it is a lot closer to me. I did attend the second day of the grand opening at the Katy location and it was packed. I made it a mission to visit this Daiso while they had their soft opening and it was a great idea. The shelves were fully stocked and only a few customers were inside. I was able to find items that I did not see at the Katy location and also familiar items that I wanted to try out from my last visit. The layout was almost identical to the Katy location, but there are less checkout counters. There is also a bit of a lag when paying with a credit card so hopefully it will be fixed before their grand opening. Very affordable house hold items, beauty products, snacks, and more can be found at Daiso. This Daiso will definitely be one of my go-to places to visit whenever I have free time! read more

This is set up as an economical option for those who want to find useful daily items and knickknacks that run $1.50 each unless stated on the item to be something more such as $2 or $3. The location was so clean and presentable which is the opposite of what one would expect going to such counterparts with dollar store type setups. It is based on selling Asian branded labels. As a reminder, everything purchased will be nonrefundable. They do a good job and making sure that is clear upon checkout as they verbally explain and physically stamp each item with said phrase. They have restroom but don't allow customers to use it. How ridiculous! My kid was in a hurry but they shut the door in front us and suggested we borrow the restroom from the nearby sushi bar. Well we were your customers but we cannot use your restroom, while we didn't consume in the sushi bar but they gracefully welcomed us. Unbelievable. And according to Texas Health and Safety Code § 341.069. : e) An employee of a retail establishment who refuses to provide a customer with access to an employee toilet facility as required by this section commits an offense.  An offense under this section is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than $100. Next time when other customers go through the same situation, you know what's your right. read more

Absolutely love this place! Pretty much everything is $1.50. If there is no price on it (majority of the items) then it's $1.50 otherwise it's the price stated. My family and I spent roughly $100 on stationary items for our Bullet Journal obsession. Crazy amount of erasers, stickers, pencils, pens, markers, anything you can think of. Can't wait to visit again, and also eventually the one located in Katy. Everything is pretty much written in Japanese but you should, for the most part be able to figure out what at item is. There is no return no refund so don't purchase too much items that you won't need. This is the only dollar store that I keep coming back, a lot of cute Asian gadgets and most items are $1.50. My favorite items are the storage baskets, plastic basins and organizers, I use them to organize my cabinets in kitchen and bathroom and they are very good quality for the price! read more

Tons of parking space and right next door to a revolving sushi bar. Inside is nice and spacious tons of things to buy. Employees are nice and are always stocking to make sure all products are out. Really nice place, but not a 5 s because, as a VISUALLY imprared person, the light inside these stores hurts my eyes, my son being a 20 20 vision, also got a nasty headache from these WHITE BRIGHT LIGHTS, and the ENTIRE store being bright white DOES NOT HELP AT ALL, al these put together made my shopping experience really uncomfortable, i unfortunately cpupd.not enjoy a good shopping experience, also we noticed HARDLY any food being sold, the number of snacks were very minimal, over all a really cute store, just wish i and people like my self could enjoy it better read more

Has some cute things here and there, but don't expect it to be like other Daisos. Aside from the ok selection of items, some of its employees' attitudes were a major turn off. There was a long line of people waiting to be checked out, and there was only one cashier. Instead of helping her, the other two male employees were laughing at her and saying she can handle the line herself. The funny thing was, all their jokes and remarks about her were said loud enough for the people in the line to hear. It was pretty obvious that it made everyone who heard it uncomfortable. Extremely unprofessional and childish to speaking about another coworker in that manner. The poor lady was trying her best and even thanking each customer for being extremely patient during the wait. Oh my god. I haven't been to the California one yet but this store just amazes me. All of the things you can buy for 1.50! You name it, they have it. Even things you didnt think you needed (arm sleeves, socks with front holes) will be there as well. Everyday items such as cups are made super cute and affordable. I was so excited to see a Daiso store opening in Houston. I've been to their Seattle and Plano area stores and was very impressed. The Katy location (their first here) not so much. But when I visited the Westheimer store, I was happy. While not as big as the Plano location, this store was clean and in a much better location - just outside Beltway 8 - than the Katy one. If you are an artist or crafter, this is your place! Offerings do change, even week to week. I wanted another water brush I grabbed last visit, yesterday just an empty hook. But consistently you will find specialty papers (origami, calligraphy), Washi tapes, sewing/knitting/crochet supplies, brushes, pens, pencils, gift bags, organizing supplies, household items you can think outside the box and use for art projects...you will easily spend over an hour there and have a run for your buck-fifty. Daiso is also a great place to supply shop for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, Vacation Bible School, Summer Day Camp activities, homeschooling, Birthday party treat bags...even a fun day outing, giving your child $3 or $6 (pretax, it's much more fun to carry paper bills than drop coins all over ) and letting them shop and spend it without breaking your budget. (FYI for the little ones and adults - no public restrooms. The closet one is at Whole Foods.) I also like their changing seasonal items. They still have beautiful Sakura / Spring/ Easter merchandise, and are starting to get in camping goods. All in all, Daiso is fun shopping treat for young and old alike. read more

I was so excited to visit after spotting this store randomly from the street but after browsing through it extensively I was pretty disappointed. I'm wondering if this store is officially licensed as a "Daiso" or if they are just borrowing the name because it's not like any of the Daiso's I've visited overseas. Great Japanese store that many people in Japan often go to for those household nick-nack items that you were not sure if even needed. Great place to stop at for last minute gifts for kids. Most of the items in the store is listed for $1.50 however they do have other priced items and they are listed directly on the product it's self. You do get the cold shoulder at checkout as the cashiers and firm and rude when they tell you 10 times that all sales are final - get the feeling they will be closing soon. read more
