Shopping in Houston, Texas... Daiso is the dollar store in Japan. I first learned about Daiso from my friends in Los Angeles. I was so happy when Oahu got two Daiso stores - one in Pearl City and one in Honolulu! When I saw that Houston had a few Daiso stores, I chose to go to this one on Westheimer Road because it was the closest. I liked the free parking, air conditioning, spacious environment, and tidy aisles! The first thing I saw was Hello Kitty items! Then, I saw practical things like kitchen gadgets, office supplies, snacks, etc. I enjoyed looking at all things Japanese - even though some things were not $1.50. Those items were marked with a sticker and the higher price. I hope you have a Daiso in your city! If not, look for one when you are on vacation!

A cute place if you are looking for Japanese Knick knacks, journaling/scrapbooking bc supplies. They have a little bit of everything and it's all so cheap. I would compare this store to a dollar store.

If you have never been here before and like dollar stores then you need to go check out Daiso. Daiso is the cleanest "dollar" store around. Not everything there is a $1.50. Prices are up to $11.00 (I have never seen anything over $6) They have some really cool stuff from Japan. They have seasonal stuff, stationary, crafts supplies, makeup, containers, gardening, dishes, candy, drinks, food, socks, household items and so much more. They have a no return, no exchange policy. And they mean it too!

The first time I went to daiso was near my aunts house in Santa Ana, CA. I loved how it was sort of like a dollar store, but everything was Japanese! So once i found out that there was one in Houston, I decided to go and check it out! I went to visit the Daiso off Westheimer. The store was big and had a variety of products ranging from tools to kitchen ware. This store would also be a perfect place to get small gifts. Definitely try to visit this japanese dollar store if you are ever in Houston! FYI: -There are no public restrooms inside the store -Everything is $1.50 unless otherwise noted -Bring a reusable bag for your purchases

LOVE THE LOCATION! It's in the same center as Whole Foods on Westheimer + Wilcrest. The first Houston location is in Katy off Mason Road, too far from home for me to frequent. This is every crafter's and office supplies junkie's dream store as most items are $1.50! Household items and dishes are also pretty popular at the same affordable price. Note: Some items are above $1.50 unlike the Cali locations I visited before. Still, those items are still cheaper than buying at target or home goods.

I am a great lover of Asian knick knacks. I go to a lot of similar stores around China Town and was greatly disappointed to see that FIT store close. When they opened the Daiso in Katy, I didn't like the distance. Luckily, they just had their soft opening at this location. There's so much stuff in so little space! I personally spent about $70... This place is an elementary teacher's playground... I bought so many sensory and motor items. I am already cataloguing what to buy as small Christmas gifts @_@... I think the only thing I didn't really like was how the door was wide open...so even though they had a/c...it kind of felt gross. Everything is final sale. Most are $1.50. A few of the things were a bit overpriced, but most things were very reasonable. I can definitely see myself dropping another $100+ come holidays...

I love Daiso in Asia and I am glad Houston finally has one. If you love Michael's, you will love this place. Its Michael's but added the Asian cuteness vibe in it. The products also have that vibe as well. Everything is so affordable and adorable. Just be aware you might go in thinking you would get one or two things but ends up with like 20 things. I ended up with 3 cushions (photo attached)

I saw this place all over TikTok and I'm a big Sanrio fan so I had to go. I wish I had went into it without any expectations. There was maybe 3-4 Sanrio things and then some cute Rilakkuma/Sumikk Gurashi/similar pens, washi tape, journals, magnets, calendars, and stuff like that. But otherwise it was a Japanese dollar store, but in a good way! I was able to pick up a bunch of cute little things but it was not like how it seemed on TikTok with a ton of Sanrio things.

It's basically a Japanese dollar store, although there's plenty of stuff that isn't a dollar.

I was so excited to see Nordstrom Rack opened in this part of town. I remembered last time I shopped at the Rack was over 25 years ago in Honolulu. Time has changed. I have been more self aware of my appearance. I needed a wardrobe update since I became single over 2 years ago. I stopped by on my day off this Tuesday. It was a pure curiosity because of the balloon arch at the entrance. Me and my friend walked in and greeted by several employees. There were music and refreshments at the entrance and throughout the store. The store is well organized and OMG there's a huge selection of men's clothing at reasonable prices. I ditched Kohls, Marshall and Ross for Nordstrom Racks. I would never shop at those stores for clothes again. I bought a real leather belt and a Tommy Hilfiger t shirt on my first day. I went back to buy a hoochie daddy shorts. Hehehe. I joined the Nord Club to receive rewards. Because I know I'll be shopping here for all kinds of things. My friend went away disappointed because the largest size was 2XL but he was looking for 3XL. Sorry bud, y'all have to shop at Target next door.

I quickly pulled out the app and bingo! I found it and bought a shirt for $2.98 on that day. I came back today and hoping to strike another luck. Not necessarily the coupon but I had a good experience on the clearance rack at the other Nordstrom Rack in Westchase. But there weren't any thing for me at this Galleria store. Then, I went to the shoe clearance racks but there weren't any clearance shoes. Ok. I found a couple of shoes with special tags on the regular priced racks. Ugh. So unorganized. Back in the summer, it was my first time here after shopped at Westchase Nordstrom Rack and really liked the merchandise. I found a shirt with price tag from Kohls. After I pointed it out to the dressing room attendant, she found a Nordstrom tag to put on there. Then upon check out, the cashier tried so hard to sell me the store credit card. I told her politely as I needed to pay off my current credit card debt before I would apply for their credit card. She said "I'll be watching you next time you come in. You're going to apply for the credit card." I stopped going there during the day.

In the past, I would say shopping at Nordstrom Rack was always a good experience. I've been able to find gifts here and also items for myself. During previous shopping trips, the clothing and accessories selection was top notch. The Madewell earrings I purchased here were reasonably priced - like a real sale and good value. However, during my latest trip, I was actually unable to find any jewelry I liked and almost all of it was overpriced. The purses were also overpriced, and the main discounted items in that section were basically Steve Madden brand, which makes me laugh. I was able to find a beautiful scarf, but most of the other scarves I looked at were unremarkable. Hardly anyone else was in the accessories section aside from me. In fact, there were very few shoppers in the store on a Friday evening, which is a bad sign. In the past, this store would be crowded. In the shoes selection, there was no middle ground between heels/platform shoes and more sporty shoes. Hardly any flats! This is so odd and off to me, but maybe other people like it. Regarding clothing, I was able to find a cool brown shirt, but the way most clothing is organized in this store is counterintuitive and not helpful. The cashier did not greet me at all and had very little to say on the back end, so I just grabbed my bag and walked out. I doubt I would return to this location and have found shopping online or in person at the regular Nordstrom to be a much better experience.

I'm too tired for snark, sass, or humor today, folx; and I only revise my reviews for typos. Here's…read morewhat I just emailed to Walmart corporate: To Walmart Customer Service, I am filing a formal complaint regarding a cashier at your Dunvale Road location (2727 Dunvale Rd, Houston, TX 77063) who I believe deliberately misled me into paying twice for an item I had already been charged for. Transaction Details: Date: February 21, 2026 Original Purchase: 7:07 AM, ST#02066, OP#000064, TE#14, TR#02259 Fraudulent Second Charge: Lane 14, same cashier Refund: 7:23 AM, ST#02066, OP#006325, TE#93, TR#05353 WHAT HAPPENED: After purchasing groceries and a vacuum, I reviewed my receipt and noticed voided items (rye flour and yogurt). The receipt format was unfamiliar to me. I'm accustomed to seeing voided items displayed as a double ring-up followed by a third line showing the same item with a negative amount, indicating that the extra ring-up won't be added to the total. Because I couldn't immediately confirm that the rye flour had been properly charged, and because the cashier appeared to have vision difficulties (she is cockeyed and wears glasses), I was genuinely concerned that she had made an error and might face disciplinary action for not charging me. Out of consideration for her, I returned to the cashier, who had since left Lane 14 and was speaking with other Walmart employees. I explained what I saw on the receipt. She agreed with my interpretation, walked to the Lane 14 station, and asked if I wanted to be charged for the rye flour. I said yes, believing I was helping prevent her from getting in trouble. She rang me up again for the rye flour and gave me a receipt. THE PROBLEM: As I was leaving, I realized this was the same cashier I remembered from when I shopped at this location regularly - from 2021 until I finally got fed up with employee behavior at this store. The behavior of yesterday's cashier during our transaction was unprofessional from the start: 1) When I politely asked "Could you please use these bags?" (referring to our reusable bags), she responded with "Open the bags for me". She never greeted us (I was with my son), and when she finally said something, it was this demand. 2) She then bagged our items on top of the plastic bag carousel instead of at waist level (where the plastic bags hang) so she could see properly, forcing me to assist her in doing her job. This unprofessionalism, combined with the suspicious second charge, made me question whether she had manipulated me by exploiting my concern for her wellbeing to get me to pay twice for something I'd already purchased. I asked the door attendants to review my receipt; and though they told me not to worry, I was starting to realize that this cashier got assy with me. I was so angry that I went to customer service to request a full refund for all my groceries. My son convinced me to explain the real issue to the customer service rep. That's when the rep checked my original receipt against what came up on his computer and confirmed that I had already been charged for the rye flour once. And that's when I confirmed for myself that the cashier had deceived me into paying twice for the same item. I say "deceived" because she's been employed at Walmart for at least five years. How has she stayed employed this long but not understand that my interpretation of the receipt was completely wrong? Anyway, I had to get a refund for the duplicate rye flour charge, money I never should have been charged in the first place. WHY THIS MATTERS: As someone who's been working in adult education for 20 years as an educator, I recognize when someone is deeply unhappy, and this employee's behavior suggests exactly that based on how she chose to interact with me. My main concern is that she's been in the same role for at least five years. Is she working here purely for financial reasons while her passion lies elsewhere? Has she turned down promotions you've offered her over the years? I already know the answers to these questions. Job knowledge alone isn't what moves an employee up the ladder. I remember her from years ago, and there has been zero improvement in her professionalism or customer service skills. Her conduct yesterday wasn't just rude. It was fraudulent. RESOLUTION REQUESTED: 1) Accountability: This cashier should face appropriate disciplinary action for deliberately misleading a customer into paying twice for an item. 2) Retraining: If she remains employed, she needs immediate retraining on customer service, receipt procedures, and ethical conduct. 3) Employee Support: Provide access to mental health resources for employees who appear to be struggling, as her behavior indicates deeper issues that affect her work. This was an exhausting and frustrating experience that wasted my time and could have cost me money if I hadn't caught the error. Can I please expect better from Walmart? Sincerely, [my name and contact info]
