I prefer shopping at TJ Maxx over Ross or sister stores Marshals because the quality and selection. But this TJ Maxx on Richmond and Rice is a little falling behind my expectations. I always go to different T J Maxx. To look at things for the house. This T J Maxx has separate exclusive items. I always find something good. The store was clean and staff were friendly. They had a good selection of items and it was worth the money. So, you will get a good buy. They also have Gucci, Prada, Fendi,Loewe and other exclusive items. Not to be confused with BJ Max, which leaves Mr. Headroom, Mr. Von Sydow, or Mr. Martin the songwriter, pretty damn happy. TJ's is *the* place to Maxx out your credit card. At least it seems to be, if Barbie is anything to go by. And she's something I always go by. If you know what I mean. Yes, Barbie looks this good everywhere she goes. It's not just TJ Maxx. This is a decent TJ Maxx. It's in a great location with lots of different stores in the same strip mall. They have a great selection of clothes and home decor. The cashier line gets long at peak shopping times. And Barbie gets loud at her, um, peak moments. Ahem. When I pulled up I thought that I would never find a decent parking spot but the reality of it was that as fast as someone pulled in the lot a spot opened up. When I walked in I pleasantly surprised to see such organization and cleanliness. The store has a nice open concept bright and lively. From the Jewelry Counter to the purses truly inviting. The women's section throughout the store was organized. Not many clothes on the floor and there were no purses on the floor or hanging off the racks. Even the displays were full. As I walked the children's are esp. the toy department needed some attention. The layout of the store was unique and pretty cool. The clearance aisle looked like clearance The men-that's a different matter. Displays kinda like -whatever. Most Clothes on the racks with some off the racks it didn't matter but to give credence it was still one of the best Men Departments that I've seen in a TJ Maxx. The staff here was on their game... They were making things happen -all for the good. From the stockers, managers to the cashiers A1. For example when the lines got long the cashiers got them through quickly. My Experience Here was Draining But worth it because of 4 managers Tarron ,Issam, Chris & Martin who treated coworkers as a "HUMAN" Unfortunately I Regretted Putting in my 2 weeks , When You Give a Job a 2 WEEKS Notice you start seeing people New Colors. I Called Out for 1 Day because of pregnancy cramping that sometimes doesn't ends well ( I didnt state that on the phone because that wasn't Raymond business ) and Unfortunately A Hr Later My Whole Schedule was Deleted /Erased so I wasn't allowed to finished My Last week because of Raymond Pettiness. They could put Me as Termination because I don't Planned On reapplying here anyways neither put them on my resume. :** I wanted to leave with integrity but I should've burn the bridge. This TJ MAXX location has a good selection of merchandise.they are unfortunately very understaffed. I'm not sure if it is due to lack of staff, or the amount of payroll they receive.the last few visits they have not had an adequate number of registers open ( I am currently the 39th customer in line ,and they have three registers open.so if you do come here be prepared to be in line for30-40 minutes. read more

I read a review that this TJ Maxx is just like the location over on W Gray. That was a lie. This one didn't seem as organized as the other location to me.. It was kind of blah. I did find some cute stuff, but I just felt like the selection was not as good as the other location. It was fairly quick to get to this location from my house. But W. Gray is so worth the drive. The store was clean; and plenty of parking was available. I thought because of the 24 hour fitness parking was going to be bad. But this was way down on the other end. So it was all good. I'll definitely go back if I don't have time to go to the W. Gray location. read more

Yvonne who was working the dressing rooms was so very helpful, patient, kind and understanding. We were panicking because we didn't realize store was closing and we had A LOT of things to try on and she was so patient & nice & told us to Just take a deep breath and don't rush. And though we didn't take advantage of her generosity by trying on ALL the stuff, her gesture meant the world nonetheless. When we told her that her kindness meant a lot as we were going through a rough time, she took a moment to offer words of encouragement. Manager Martin should not be in any customer facing positions. He didn't greet me at check out or say anything at all. I actually thought he was mute until he told me my total, no goodbye or anything. If you don't like interacting with people then why are you in a customer service roll? He also left the sensors on all the clothes I picked out! Irritating that I have to go back now because he wasn't paying attention to the task at hand. Being in the Galleria area, this T.J. Maxx has The Runway section with designer clothing and handbags. I saw a creme iconic Balenciaga Classic City handbags selling for $1,129 that normally retails for around $2,000. This store is stocked with tons of goodies including 3 white Le Creuset utensil holders selling for $14.99 that retail for $60 but would include four utensils - I still bought the holder because that's a killer deal. There was broken glass by the Christmas items and some staff working closeby, but nobody went to clean it up even though I walked by that area a few times (I'm really indecisive so I walked through there about 3 or 4 times). The line was also insanely long, but getting my items was worth the wait. read more

They should let customers know about this policy because this is the first store that I have gone to and this happened. TJ is always crowded so sometime I tend to leave my cart at a spot and find my items. They took my cart and left me unmotivated so I left empty handed. Maxxinista here. I've traveled all over the country and always look for the nearest TJ Maxx. This location was a let down. My favorite department is usually luggage/purses and home goods. I found absolutely nothing to buy and I always leave with a bag or two from here with goodies lol. There were a lot of clothes, ALOT. Especially in the clearance section. If you have time to dig through everything, you may find something. I'll try them again during a weekday. I visited on a Saturday first time in the evening. This TJ Maxx is pretty much a lifesaver. Given that I'm cooped up hours and hours on end on most weekdays, I'm not too keen on squandering my precious lunch hour sitting - thoughtfully enjoying my lunch and catching up on the latest reality TV gossip. Not that there is anything remotely drab or wrong about that, I JUST NEED TO GET OUT AND SPREAD MY WINGS, and dare to dream again. So anyway, I come here at least once a week to simply "get away" and possibly snag a few deeply discounted work outfits. This TJ Maxx has served me well! Granted the selections are on contingent on what day of the week you stop by and I despite coming to this location about a billion times, I'm still not certain of the algorithm. It can get a little cramped during the lunch hour (I'm assuming other worker bees feel like I do), but it's not mayhem-level. There's also the "Runway" section here with fancier stuff that I still can't justify purchasing, despite their discounted nature. The pickings are slimmer in terms of the runway stuff obviously and maybe about to be "out-of-season," but if it's worth checking out, because come on, you're already there. Maybe I'm losing my mind, or I no longer have friends, so this may be the desperation speaking, but the check-out cashiers are always so flippin' friendly. I don't know about you, but I'd probably be not-so-nice if I worked in retail (although it's more tolerable at this particular TJ Maxx, what is with customers haphazardly tossing garments and other goods all over the place, I recently stink-eyed this faux-oblivious mom as her child tore apart the several packages in the toiletries section, srsly WTF), which is why I don't. So when i am bored i go to TJMaxx, why? People watching and trying out shoes. When i need a new pot or something, i go to TJMaxx, why? Because the Cephalon are like half priced. Not top of the line but for all intended purposes they serve me well. I go to TJMaxx to shop for seasonal decor, candles, coffee beans, dog toys...basically i go to TJMaxx when i have had enough with the herd at Walmart! What i dont like about TJMaxx (hence the imperfect score) are the stupid same ridiculous line that you have to wait just to return or exchange. Also the rudeness of the shoe shark...like what the F. They seem to price items incorrectly then expect customers to be responsible at the register. They had red tags items, a whole shelf of them. At the register the guy started peeling off the stickers and complaining they were wrong- all 7 items. Even mentioned that customers do this all the time. I referred him to the entire shelf of items with the same stickers. For that he had no response. Then he proceeded to tell me that one item would cost me more because the sticker was incorrect and how this was 'helping' me. Stores have a responsibility to price products correctly, and not delay or give sad excuses to cover up the lack of professionalism. And entire shelf of pricing mistakes then turns out 1 of 7 were wrong. Does not even sound right on a bad day. When asked for the number for corporate, I was given the wrong number. This particular TJ Maxx has lots to choose from, which I appreciate but lots of folks like to typically shop here on their lunch breaks and the lines are super slow...especially now during the holidays. Today me & another lady ended up getting out of the lines at the same time because it literally had not moved in close to 10 minutes, which is outrageous. The one in River Oaks is just as long on any typical day and they keep that line moving like a well oiled machine! TJ Maxx management at this location needs to speak to the River Oaks location and learn a thing or two. The holidays are in full swing and they need to be prepared to handle the crowd. Of course, this place has a runway section. It's close to the galleria after all. Only a women's though. Only one store has a MEN's runway section in Houston, and this one ain't it (think it's the one at river oaks but could be wrong). I though parking would be bad at night here on Friday, but it was actually pretty decent. The store itself is larger than most kinds of these stores I've been. The discounted prices at the runway section are a pretty good bargain, so I've heard, though o still get surprised to see purses that costs LOADS. However I overheard an employee saying to a customer who was looking for handbags that customers sometimes make marks and dents on the merchandise from mishandling them, so make sure to check before buying. read more

I've said what I could say about department stores like TJ Maxx. My wife insisted on going to one before going to dinner. Not really keen on going to the one in Sugar Land, we went to the one on Richmond and Sage. Although still got the same vibe that I got at other TJ Maxx stores, I really don't like shopping at stores where organization isn't the top priority and articles of clothing, regardless of brand and color are all thrown together like a large children's artwork. This store is actually more crowded than the one in Sugar Land, possibly by its proximity to the Galleria. I do have a feeling that it might be even more crowded here if it weren't for today being Memorial Day weekend and a lot people are out of town. There are some organized sections of clothing here, but those are typically ones that are not on sale or on clearance. I do find this location seem to have more brands like Ralph Lauren Polo or Lacoste than the SL one. Again, possibly being in close proximity to the Galleria. We picked up what we needed and head out to dinner. Check out line seemed long, but we made it out of there no problem. read more

This is one of my favorite places to browse. I kinda like window shopping places like this and Marshall's if you have nothing particular you're hunting for because their merchandise varies so much based on what overstock their buyers obtains. Instead, set a budget and open yourself up to possibilities! The budget is key because I have found some amazing stuff here and you still want to be able to pay your rent. I think because of their proximity to the Galleria, they get some sweet past season or even in-season items. Yes, they have "The Runway," but that could be a bunch of Vince, Catherine Maladrino, Elizabeth & James, Theory, and designer denim. Those brands are great, but what sets this location apart is the high-end designer stuff. We're talking stuff that has been seen on the runway at Paris Fashion Week. Chloe ankle strap ballet flats. Celine large luggage tote. Givenchy handbags. I didn't even know Givenchy made handbags?!? If you have to ask, no you can't afford it. Imagine how much the regular retail price at Niemann Marcus was! Meanwhile, you'll find me scouring the red-tagged clearance section for clothes and home goods. The place is awesome and only could be better if it had an automatic discount system the longer an item has been on the floor a la Filene's Basement (RIP). read more

However, if you've got time and are willing to look you can find some really great deals. In general I'm not a TJ Maxx fan. I'm not a dedicated enough shopper to dig through everything for a good deal. I usually feel like stores like this are fairly unorganized and don't have much that I want. Although this location is in the galleria and carries much higher end brands, I feel the same way. There was nothing that caught my eye. The shoe section was especially small! On the other hand, they have a nice jewelry section and bath and body area, of which most TJ Maxx's don't have. I found brands like Estée Lauder and Philosophy. This location is known for its "Runway" section. This means that they get in items from high end designers like Fendi, Prada, Chloe, Tory Burch, etc. However, be warned of two things. First, just because the item is here doesn't mean it's affordable. I saw a purse for over two grand being sold. Also, by the look of the item, I can tell why it wasn't sold at the department store...super ugly!!!! So, I am sure that you can get some great deals here, but like most TJ Maxx's, it's going to take some dedication and digging around for the perfect item. read more

This is a great location. They are right behind a Chipotle and in the same strip center as Specs, UPS, Ulta and 24 hour fitness....oh yuppy heaven!!! Haha. Since I'm not a yuppy, I shop at this TJ Maxx, and not Saks. I have found plenty of premium denim along with runway clothing for the TJ Maxx price. Their handbag selection is not all there, but their shoe selection is! I have found lots of houseware items along with home decor. Like other folks, I might regret this yelp because soon everyone will be buying out all my favorites at such an incredible price at such a convenient store! this is a special TJ maxx. in case you haven't heard, tj maxx has a special section in certain stores called "the runway at TJ Maxx" this section has high end designers, and I mean HIGH END. at this store specifically, I've found prada, gucci, Emilio Pucci, Versace, etc. it's the purple tagged clothing and even though the prices can be high still, $500 for Versace jacket, $900 for prada bag, it's still a HUGE discount from the original price. sometimes you'll find amazing deals in this area, other days you can be like me and just silently cry on the inside because you realize you can't even afford the off priced major designers. haha only 2 TJ maxx's in Houston has the runway section. get it while it's hot! :) read more

The staff was very friendly and kind and the racks were rather organized. The 1 star is for the bathroom which was something out of a nightmare. It was by far the most disgusting bathroom I have ever been in in my entire life. The trash can was full of used feminine hygiene products along with used toilet paper (that had feces on it) and both bathrooms were completely out if toilet paper. There was trash all over the floor which was covered in urine. I don't expect extreme cleanliness in a department store bathroom but this was so bad i felt the need to warn other people. I advise you to go at home or even stop at the nearest gas station. read more
