I have never experienced customer service this poor. I would give Macy's a zero-star rating if I could. On June 27, 2026, I purchased two perfumes. As part of the promotion, I was supposed to receive a complimentary Ralph Lauren backpack with the men's fragrance, but the sales associate forgot to include it in my bag. When I got home and realized it was missing, I immediately called the store. I tried the fragrance department multiple times, but the phone rang endlessly with no answer. I then called the customer service counter around 9:30p.m., just before closing. The associate told me, "I'm the only one here, I can't leave my counter, and I can't help you." I asked to speak with a manager, and instead of helping, she responded, "What for?" before placing me on hold. No one ever answered, so I hung up. When I called back, I explained that this was unacceptable customer service. Her response shocked me: "Well, I'm off tomorrow, so there's no point complaining about me either." She then put me on hold again, and once again, no one answered. I called a third time and asked, "Do you have any integrity to treat a customer this way?" Her reply was, "I'm off tomorrow, so talking to a manager won't help you either." I was completely stunned by the disrespect, lack of accountability, and dismissive attitude. The missing promotional gift is one issue, but the way I was treated is far more concerning. I will be returning to the store tomorrow to speak with management in person. Macy's should be embarrassed that employees believe it's acceptable to treat paying customers this way. This experience has seriously damaged my confidence in the company. read more

Best day to buy suits in all colors in bulk... we got three, one in tan, one black and one linen. We had a guy help us through, he suggested the size, the fit etc., and that was very much appreciated. He even ensured we bought shoes - overall a great salesman but I forgot to get his name ... ... sheesh!!! Navron was our shoe guy and he took quite the trouble with a smile on his face. My review is for memorial city Macys...a particular sales rep named of all things...happiness. Or at least that's what she exuberantly said her name is. On 6/30/26, I approached the counter (only customer in line) to ask about a troublesome garment (weird button loop closure). After she yawned...yep yawned in my face, she very curtly said she'd bought the garment herself and showed me how she buttoned it. Another person who was not in line to purchase asked if happiness knew where to find a garment she wanted. Happiness left me standing at the counter and went to help that person find what she was looking for. After several minutes happiness returned, thanked me for my (undeserved) patience and finished my purchase. Since I was the 'only' customer she had I felt she should have asked the person to wait until she finished my purchase. Happiness slung my 'dress' in a bag and flipped it to me like she was in a rush to get to her non existent next customer. Very unprofessional, nice nasty demeanor. I left thinking I should have 'checked' her, and then reported her to a store manager. People can get too comfortable in their jobs especially if they've been there a while. I needed help with a swimsuit, I called so many time and could not get anyone on the telephone, so i drove from Rosharon to Houston Galleria. I randomly stopped to ask a question about swimsuits and Barbara G. personally walked me to the swimsuit dept, helped me pick out at least 10 or more swimsuits and asked if I wanted her to stay with me while i tried them all on. Barbara G.'s customer service was stupendous, superb, out of the galaxy excellent. She is a shining example of what customer service should be everywhere. My favorite places to go in Macy's are the perfume counter (gotta smell like an angel), the shoe section (they have a great selection of shoes), and the MAC counter. They have the best makeup! I do like to shop for clothes as well and they carry a lot of great brands for babies, adolescents, women, men, and extended sizes. They also offer items such as linen, toasters, and different items for the home. They are a tad bit too expensive, I think, but very convenient if you remember you need something for the house. They have pretty nice gadgets. 10/10 would recommend. read more

So I went to two different departments, looking for gifts, and how each department represents Macy's is the story of this review. First, four stars for the fragrance department, where you find too many people on the floor, but you can tell it's all about making commissions and very robotic service. Half of them don't even want to help you and pretend to be busy. (the store was not busy at 1 pm middle of the day on Thursday) I tried to ask a question, but one salesperson told me to go to another side!!! Ok! So I went other side and asked the same question, but the response was not helpful. I was like do these people want to move around and help me to find what I am looking for? Disappointed at the moment, and at that moment Renee walked in and asked me what I was looking for. She walked me to the right section of the perfume, and I picked up three products and thanked her for saving me from the shopping spirit. Renee was very kind and professional. She didn't try to sell me other products and helped me with precisely what I was looking for in a gift. So yes, one person can be built or ruin the reputation of any company. No wonder Macy's have so many bad reviews on Yelp. Then I went to the jewelry area, looking for a pearl set for another gift. There was a guy before me waiting patiently. One salesperson was walking around, and another was stocking inventory while customers were waiting. No comments Only one person was trying to help everyone. The salesperson who was walking around later on I find out she was the manager. No wonder this department needs help. She helped another person and came to me to tell me I will be back, never came back. Finally, another person came and helped me with my pearl set. I bought it and left. I sure wasted so much time because of bad management. Am I going back to Macy's? Of course, I will, but not to the Galleria location. Macy's is cool. I like this store because when you use your Macy's card you get a millon discounts. I work at another department store in the mall. We have a few of the same items as Macy's. Sometimes the discount that Macy's have when using the card is greater than my employee discount at my job. I've visited this store several times. There are pros and cons. The pros is that they have a huge selection in every department compared to other Macy's in Houston. I've been to the Pearland location and here the inventory is much greater. The cons is that the lines are extremely long. And if you shop in the evening. At times it's hard to find someone to check you out. The fitting rooms aren't very maintained and sometimes very messy. They have a small mini restaurant that serves coffees and sandwiches in the store as well. And they're holiday hours are great. read more

I have the Macys American Express and it is the worst service I've ever experienced. I went to Ralph's to buy my children some groceries and the card was not authorized. Which of the cashier told me meant it's declined.. so when I called the credit card number, I was told that the merchant manually declined it. So then I go to Food 4 Less not authorize call Macy's and I was told again merchant declined it.. I have been to five different stores in the same time. Nobody at the customer service center, and nobody can help you because no one is authorized to make a decision or have the authority to fix things. This is the worst service I have ever received the credit card. Please stay away from it. I will be complaining to the Better Business Bureau.. I actually give it a -5 stars read more

I bought the hotel collection 4 piece dining set in September of last year. I was hand washing a mug from it that was used less than 10 times and the handle broke off in my hand. Macys customer service refused to send me a replacement because if was about 20 days outside of Their propertied 180 day policy to report damage. I explained to the rep on the phone that I was aware of how poorly the company was currently doing and how many of their stores are going broke / closing and that if he could waive policy over a 12$ mug I would remain a Macys customer and be happy that they went above and beyond to help their customers. Ultimately-he refused. Even the supervisor couldn't reason with me to understand that this would be of benefit to his company in any way to help me. He just stuck to his script. So, I guess I will just have to never shop here again and tell all my friends that they lost a customer for life over a 12$ mug. It's very sad to see another American company that will eventually collapse because they can't keep evolving and insist on outsourcing customer service to people who are in a call center which is located outside the USA. read more

Shopping at Macy's is always great! So many choices, I think the layout of the store is always organized, and customer service always gives you space to shop. Yes, sometimes you have to hunt them down if you need help, but otherwise, I think it's great to be independent. When my husband and I shop here, we've been going straight to the furniture department. We'd try out the couches and see how comfortable they are before ordering a set. We've ordered a few couches from them and the service is great. Before the pandemic, the salesman we'd work with is Jimmy Tran. He is always attentive and seems very knowledgeable about the products and what's available. We aren't sure how the department's changed since the pandemic, but we are repeat customers for Macy's when we can. read more

I received email saying my order was delayed and if I didn't want to wait, I can cancel before it ships. I double-checked the expected shipping date, and it was several days away. After no success with their chat bot, I called customer service for help (because there is no "cancel order" option under Manage Order), and was told you can only cancel an order within 30 minutes after the order is placed. I asked about my email, and they said all they can do is "request" it be cancelled, but they cannot cancel it. They also suggested that I waited too long after the email and it may have moved into shipping status now. Uh, no - the email was sent 3:00 am EST, and I contacted the chat bot at 7:00am EST. With no help from chat bot, I called a live person at around noon EST. Also, after getting off the phone, I double-checked the status, and the expected shipping date was still several days away. It's unbelievable that they are trying to put this on ME, as if I waited too long. Again, the email was sent 3:00am EST on a Saturday night, and I first contacted Macy's 7:00am EST (on a Sunday morning). Now I have to dispute this charge with my credit card if the order is not cancelled. Unbelievably bad service. read more

We all know that there's always a sale at Macy's - this particular Macy's is not so hot - shop online or go to Dillard's. The major issues this location faces are pricing, organization, and appropriate staffing. Nothing is priced right - the sale markers are not updated and advertise the wrong sales (especially the housewares section), the prices on the clothing tags are not discounted accurately, the books are always unavailable at customer service = total guessing game ... NOW, to make up for lack of accurate tags, they've placed some price scanners throughout the store. This helps but a lot of the items, especially clothing, do not have tags so have fun trying to price check items without a bar code! Besides pricing, the floor organization is piss poor ... can we keep like items next to like items either by brand or department? I would say merchandise by department but the definition of department by this location is questionable. For example, I have never had a clue with what is going on in the children's area. Is this a gender forward store? Hooorah for them but I don't think it is that advanced. I think the entire children's department is simply ill managed. The boy's section wraps around the side with a girl's section sort of in the middle and then renegade sale and clearance racks "Goodwill" style surround the perimeter. Get this - in the middle of this chaos = one price check scanner. Good luck, people! The last major issue - staffing. There's NEVER the right amount of associates. Some day's you're bombarded "Melp you's" and on others, there's no sign of life - I waited a good 45 minutes the other day switching a slow cooker out for an air fryer ... this was after I waited forever and a day to look at watches. If it wasn't for proximity to work (I work in the Galleria area) and the fact that I'm always showered with Macy's gift cards, I would avoid this store all together. Post script: These remarks have nothing to do with the quality of service the sales associates provide. I sincerely think this is a management issue ... OK, lets make believe (for a second) that I knew from a very good source that the world was going to end tomorrow at midnight. Now lets believe it is tomorrow...this is what I would do: "Hi mom, it's me. Yeah, so did you hear about the world ending?! Yeah, me too... sucks, huh?! Yeah... So, I'll meet you at Macy's. How about the Women's apparel department. OK, don't forget to bring your Macys' card and some nonperishable food." (click)-- that was me hanging up. Then I would proceed to call my sisters, brother and dad and say goodbye. When I finally make it to Macy's I would first go to the Outdoors department and set up camp. Yes, get me a tent, go to the bedroom section get some Ralph Lauren or Vera Wang sheets and pillows. Then I would go to the home goods department and get me a radio and a TV, put them in the tent and proceed to do some real shopping. Of course, I would get my mom from the women's apparel department first!! lol First very important stop: The Jewelry department! I love Macy's jewelry because it lasts! I've had some of the jewelry I purchased there for years and years! Then I would go to the fragrance department, collect all of their Chanel Mademoiselle and take a perfume shower! hehe! OK, I'm tired of my fantasy. The point is that Macys has all kinds of stuff and they are mostly great quality. I have sometimes found unbeatable deals on sale and clearance items. Once I got a suit for $90 lowered from $300!! I love Macys. I believe sometimes you have to pay a little extra for great quality... other times I look in the sales rack! =0} read more

This is the better Macy if you are in the Gal. This one has a good location; the workers are definitely tolerable; there is a wide selection; and it is not out in the boondocks like the other Macy. Not the best department store ever (see: companion review of NORDSTROM'S) but it will do mighty fine for a brief shopping adventure for a polo shirt or something. read more
