**This review is about the valet stand at Saks.** I had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life at the **Saks at the Galleria Mall in Houston's valet stand**, and I'm still shocked by the level of incompetence and disregard shown by both the valet attendants and mall management. When I first arrived, the valet stand was completely unattended. I circled the parking lot **three times** before anyone appeared. Eventually, an attendant arrived, took my phone number, and parked my car. I went inside for an event, thinking everything was fine. When I returned about an hour and a half later, there was a **different valet attendant** at the stand. When I gave him my ticket and phone number, he insisted that I had "forgotten where I dropped off my car" and told me I needed to **walk to another part of the mall** to retrieve it. I refused, because I knew exactly where I had left my vehicle -- **at this valet stand**. The attendant then **refused to retrieve my car**, wasting nearly **30 minutes** while he called mall security. When security arrived, instead of listening to reason or reviewing the facts, they **gaslit me** and sided with the attendant. Not one person attempted to verify my claim or assist me. It was humiliating and completely unacceptable. Two days later, I contacted mall management to file a formal complaint and **requested surveillance footage**, which would easily confirm my version of events. Management (Sean O'Brien) promised to follow up -- he never did. They told me to contact the police to obtain the footage myself. The police, understandably, said that since no crime was committed, they couldn't intervene. So here I am: weeks later, still without an apology, without accountability, and without even basic professionalism from anyone involved. The valet attendants were **rude and dismissive**, security was **useless**, and management was **completely unresponsive**. I'm sharing this so others know what to expect: **a chaotic, unaccountable valet operation** that clearly doesn't care about customer service or integrity. Until Saks and The Galleria address this situation publicly and take action, I will never return -- and I strongly encourage others to take their business elsewhere. read more

Been a long time shopper at Saks, but it's obvious they're consciously denying legitimate returns now. Wife bought me a cardigan/ sweater that was an oversized style. Too big for me so we went to return it. The same employee that sold her the sweater said it was in unsellable condition. The sweater was boxed after purchase and tried on for 2 minutes. Buyer beware! I purchased a pair of shoes online with a very intricate detail on the top and tried them on on rugs in my home. I wanted the shoes to fit but they rubbed and so after giving them a few tries- again, in my home on rugs- I determined I had to return them. I never wore the shoes and the top of the shoes were still intricately (factory) packaged to protect the shoe pin detail. When I took them to return them, the sales girl flipped them over and accused me of wearing them-- even with the top of the shoe still covered in packaging. The total lack of reason and thought that anyone would wear a shoe still covered in packaging is ridiculous. I asked for a manager and the salesperson walked it over to another woman who looked at the bottom and then at me-- she would not come over and talk to me though--- and said they were worn, so I requested yet another manager. I took the shoe wiped off the bottoms and they finally returned them. I guess you're not allowed to try on shoes anymore And if you want to be treated like a criminal, feel free to make your $1000 shoe purchase here. I, for one, will be taking my money elsewhere. On the oft occasion when it's time for a special vacation fit, a birthday or anniversary, it's time to make the rounds at your favorite luxury boutique. However, Saks (and other luxury department stores) are good substitutes if you want a little better deal because of the OCCASIONAL sale. The store is in the old Macy's footprint and luckily the men's section is on the first floor and accessible through the connected parking garage. An employee who I encountered looked thoroughly disinterested in being there so, I simply asked him where my item was and went about my business. I went into this Saks yesterday looking for undergarments and no dice. They are available online, but they only had one high-end brand (Versace), one upper-mid level (Emporio Armani) and the others I would describe as Walmart/Macy's specials (CK and HOM). Needless to say, I didn't buy anything - I was looking for Dolce and Gabbana or Tom Ford. I looked around a bit at the sales rack, saw a nearby bar in the middle of the store and I made my way out of the store. I'll try to complete the transaction online. read more

Finally called customer care to ask a simple men's suit question and they said "sorry we have the same number you do for the store and no way to get a hold of a live person...sorry." Well, I won't be buying anything in the future from Saks. Judging from the reviews the store itself doesn't have any better service when arriving. Saks used to set the bar in service for men's wear. Unbelievable. No wonder their suits are now cheap. They aren't any better than Walmart. Sad. read more

Came to SAK 5th looking for designer men dress shoes. First impression was the building is very nice! They just remodeled it and it looks very upscale than before. However, the service is off. Employees here seems lost, confused, or not motivated. Staff seem they don't want to help you and pawn you off to another associate. It took 40 minutes just to flag down someone to try on one pair of shoe. Not only that they came back 15min later with wrong size. Then made it seem like it was the customers fault. Felt awkward after that moment. Went ahead and purchase the loafers. Someone really needs to take control of the MEN's Department and retrain the staff. We came here looking for Christian Louboutin hiking boots with steel toes. Apparently, they don't make this in this year's catalog of shoes. Instead, they have all these red-bottomed leather shoes that look rather impractical on the hiking trails. The that they sell the shoes in is all cordoned off, with delightfully squishy red carpeting and velvet ropes to keep the riffraf out. The rest of the store is a bit more accessible. I was delighted to find a bar in the middle of the department store serving up cold ones and appropriately bougie drinks like martinis. While looking for the restrooms, I found that they were giving out complimentary bubbly by a live DJ booth while promoting some brand's line. The store seemed a bit run down. The exterior needed some landscaping- there were empty planters and dead bushes outside. Inside, the floors needed a waxing, the walls needed a coat of paint. The staff was friendly and indulged us with the courtesy and professionalism when asked about hiking boots. read more

I've had so many problems with this store. - Their computer system is antiquated such that the only way to make an exchange is if you return an item and rebuy it. However, they do not honor prior discounts. That means, if you had bought it at a discount and then have to exchange it for a different size, you will lose the discount. - The wait times on the phone can be long. And I've had time where I would get disconnected after waiting for 30 min and have to call back to be placed back on hold. - It can also be hard to find a customer service rep in store. - Be careful about their gift cards. I've had trouble applying the gift card online with their online system not recognizing the gift card. - I've had issues where an order would cancel me a few days after I've placed the order as the item went out of stock. - I've had a better experience shopping at Target. read more

I bought two Salvatore Ferragamo belts at Saks Fifth Avenue online. I thought that these would be properly packaged as there was no gift wrap option to be selected online. I was very disappointed that I received two belts packaged in plastic bags, of which one was torn. Each belt cost $475 before taxes. I went to a Saks retail store to request two gift boxes. The sales associate kept repeating that I should have requested gift boxes when purchasing the items online (but that option was not available). Finally, she gave me a couple of Saks board paper boxes. I only realized when I got home that one of the 'boxes' was just two box BASES in different sizes, without the box cover. It is shameful that a luxury department store with 97 years history does not even have two gift boxes available in store, and does not have a gift wrap option for customers to choose online for such expensive items, and has an unprofessional sales associate who did not know this and was so rude to the customer in the store. On top of this, I paid $475 online before tax for each belt. However, the price tags on both belts I received showed each was priced at $450. I wonder if it is a practice that Saks overcharge customers online. The pictures show how disappointed and upset I felt when I received my Ferragamo belts in torn plastic bags, and the further stress and dissatisfaction about getting two box BASES from the sales associate after I made a special trip to the store. read more

I would have given them zero stars if i could. Horrible horrible customer service, rude employees in person and over the phone. I bought a dress for $800. I received it on July 26 in my mailbox. I couldn't get the box out of my mailbox until July 31 because my grandmother passed. As soon as i got the dress out of the box, it was a used dress. The beads were falling off, the cleavage was stitched up. I immediately started a return online. I didn't drop it off until August 8 because of the funeral. It wa still within the 20 day period. They kept the dress for a month then returned it back to me saying it was a used dress and they won't take it back. The tags were still on with the stash. When i started the return i put the reason why i was returning it, which was it was a used dress. I called them and they refused my return. I took it to the store and the manager told me it was after the 30 day period so she couldn't do anything. They also blamed me that i wore the dress and damaged it. How can i wear it when the stash and tags were still attached!! They told me to leave the store! I will never shop at saks again because they are fraud! They send you used item and blame you for it! I even sent them pictures of the dress, i took it as soon as i opened the box. I sent them the pictures with the date stamp on them and they still refused. Don't waste your money here! Saks better get their act together if they want to continue to have business. Retail is already going down the drain. What is the point of having a hostile snobby environment when people are literally trying to spend money? It makes no sense. I was going to buy something but decided not to after trying to flag down a sales associate for 15 minutes. I mean I made eye contact with several but they just kept on walking. I also saw the oddest scene....there was a man carrying a tray of champagne just continuously walking around the store (up and down two levels) without actually asking any customers if they wanted any. Is it all for show to create an upscale environment? I ended up walking out the store to place my order on revolve and shopbop. It was so much more efficient that I'll probably never waste my time at this store again. UPDATE!! 1/1/2020 Ok I just wanted to add that I still hate this store. I called customer service to inquire about a zimmermann item and the operator told me they do not carry that brand in the store which is a complete LIE. Then I get asked to put on hold to transfer the phone to ladies contemporary where No one EVER answered the phone and I tried 3 times in the course of 8 hours. Then I find out that the operator is from an effing CALL CENTER! This store doesn't even have their own customer service line. Seriously wtf. I'm done here. read more

I can't stand shopping here. Most of the sales associates are condescending and rude. Especially this one older lady with curly hair. I believe her name is Sandi. My boyfriend and I were shopping here awhile back for fragrances and she asked us if we needed help. We told her we were just looking and she left. After about 10 minutes, she came back and told us we had been there "a LOONNG time" and emphasized "long." We told her we just wanted to look around to decide what we wanted. She asked if we needed to know the prices, and again we said no. She then started blurting out the prices of the fragrances as if she thought that would deter us. I was livid with how rude she was. We went back yesterday and another sales associate was helping us the the Ex Nihilo fragrances, then Sandi came over and just hovered around us. She didn't say anything, just stood really close and looked at us. It seemed like she just wanted us feel watched and to leave. She then started talking to another associate whispering and looking at us. It seems that she intentionally makes a point to make us feel unwelcome because she has assumed based on our appearance that we have no business shopping in Saks. My boyfriend and I often go to Saks because they have such a huge selection of fragrances. However, when we make our decisions about what we would like to buy, we often opt for Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom. I'm not sure if the sales associates earn commission, but if so, Sandi has definitely lost several sales because of her arrogant and ignorant attitude. read more

This review is for the overall new store. First, wow! It's beautiful. It reminds me of the Beverly Hills store a bit. Very white, grand and different than the last store so I'm still getting used to it! The layout is all on two floors now, but it's much larger. The cosmetics section looks like they've brought in some higher end lines. The new shoe department is great, but my favorite area is the handbags and accessories. I love the little in-store boutiques like in NYC. So if you buy Prada, you get the Prada box and bag even though you're at Saks and getting points! There's a lovely bar on the first level and you can get upstairs using the grand staircase or the escalators over by cosmetics. The upstairs is women's clothing and also sectioned by designer. I haven't spent too much time there yet, but the summer dresses look stylish and beautiful. The restaurant, which is stunning, is also on the second floor. I'm looking forward to trying it for lunch soon. Overall a grand addition to the galleria that's sure to do well. I bet it'll be a hot stop for super bowl visitors too. read more

Penhaligon's fragrances are unique and authentic. We first became acquainted with Penhaligon's over 10 years ago, when they supplied the toiletries for the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. They were so fantastic that I undertook a search to find them and ordered them from out of state. It's so nice that there's a boutique in Houston now. The history of this line is rich, dating back to Queen Victoria, who wore Penhaligon's. Our favorites are in their Portraits collection, where each fragrance is unique and comes in a bottle with an animal-inspired topper and has a written story behind the character. They don't smell like every other cologne or perfume out there. One of our boys' favorite things to do in the morning is to pick the Penhaligon's cologne that they want to wear for the day. That's a great tradition and endorsement that would make the Queen proud. read more

The new store is gorge! Whoever the buyer is, they always do a splendid job- they carry so many of the trendiest up-and-coming brands that you cannot find anywhere else. Personal favorites of mine is 'Romance Was Born' and 'Zimmermann'. Whoever the visual display designer is is always on point with styling the mannequins in cute scenes throughout the store. Taking away one star away for the obviously competitive way the salespeople act. They hover like a vulture when you first enter the store. My advice is find a person you like to shop with and always ask for them from there on out. Otherwise, someone who works at the opposite end of the store will come over and start you a dressing room at some other section you weren't even shopping in. read more

I shop occasionally at Saks, and my past few experiences have been well done, except for yesterday. I bought something from La mer and the rep was so zoned out. Had to call for her a few times to get her attention to help me purchase something. Not only that, she didn't offer any samples. When I asked, she came back with a small tiny packet and said here that's all they had which I have a hard time believing. I definitely won't be coming back to that counter and I just prefer to order online as they're more helpful and I at least gain points from it. DON'T GO TO LA MER COUNTER. I warned you. The clearance/sale rack rocks, but some items are still stupidly over-priced, especially if there's slight damage to a shoe. There's better/secret parking to the far right of Saks (by Prohibition). I hadn't been to this side of the Galleria for ages. My wife ordered bedsheets from their .com site, and she didn't like them. We had to return them, hence m trip to Saks Fifth. There were quite a few luxury plans here -- LV, Hermes, etc. The section where Hermes and a few other stores are has a dedicated security guard standing guard just outside. My wife and pressed for time so we didn't go take a look. When we made a return, we didn't know at first that we can return at any register until we asked one of the sales associate. As we finished with our return, my wife spotted an Aesop counter inside Saks Fifth. She had been looking for that brand for a long time since we discovered them at one of the hotels we visited. The sales associates were somewhat lukewarm at first as we were browsing Aesop selection. Eventually, they came by and followed by a chit-chat. We didn't buy anything at this time as my wife didn't remember which scent that she liked from the toiletries that we got from the hotel. Still, the sales associate were nice and very generous by giving us plenty of samples. Overall, it was a good experience for us at Saks. The folks here were nice. The store looked nice and luxurious. There was a bar here inside the store, which should come in handy for me in the future when my wife decided to come back here. This would have been a 5-star rating except the price of everything sold here is pretty hefty. I would come here again, but not very often. read more
