My friend and I, two women in our 60's shopped for jeans here last Saturday. We both agreed this was going to be a difficult task. However when we got there we were greeted by Edie and she could not have been more helpful. We told her what we were looking for and she spent so much time with us and was able to pick out the right jeans for both of us. She listened to what we were after and had so many options for us to try. We both ended up buying several pairs and I cannot wait to go back. It was like we had our own personal shopper. She also told us about the "jean exchange" program and I'm going to go through my closet and bring in my old jeans that no longer fit. Edie was the best and she deserves a big THANK YOU! read more

I came for their grand opening today (9/1/15) because of a promo they were running where the first 25 customers would get free gift cards. For those who don't know, Madewell is J. Crew's "younger sister" line, with similarly styled clothes but in more youthful colors/patterns and cuts. A big plus also is the slightly more affordable prices (and don't forget the 15% student discount!). They pulled in extra girls from the Galleria location to help out on opening day, which is such a smart plan. There didn't seem to be a sale section, but that's likely because it just opened. Everyone working was so nice and one girl even offered to stash away my large prep book (which I was studying with while waiting in line) by the front so I could shop more comfortably. First time ever buying from Madewell today and it probably wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the huge help the sales associate, Dorenthia, gave me. I have been really confused about my size after a bit of weight gain and the changing of denim styles from stretchy skinnies to rigid mom jeans and more relaxed fits. I let her know I was super confused about my size and she gave me a few tips and her opinion on the pairs of shorts and jeans I tried on which helped tremendously. Turns out I was buying a bit larger than I needed to. I only bought a pair of shorts today because I need petite sizes for jeans but now that I know what I fit into and can easily shop online. They also have a cool denim buy back program that gives you credits to use in store so I'm definitely taking advantage of that because let's be real, their denim isn't cheap. I'm plan to be a regular customer and super excited to buy more things! read more

I have never been to a clothing store, especially a clothing store that you do not see much of me or people my size shopping in there in general, give such great customer service in my LIFE! Mariah, really understood the assignment and made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. She took the time to find jeans for myself and my curvy and dearest friend. She also educated us on how to shop for jeans, how jeans are "really" suppose to fit, and how they are suppose to make use feel...CONFIDENT! I walked out of madewell feeling so very good and I wish more people especially people who our my size are able to feel what I have experienced! This was my first time to this store and the customer service was much better than the galleria location. Totally my new guilty pleasure. Their jeans are like butter. I also love the super soft v-neck tanks. I am working on accumulating as many colors as I can. Their jewelry is SO CUTE. Lots of gold dainty items. It's little pricey for me but I did splurge on one necklace and I have worn it often and the quality is great. The staff here is top notch. Horrible customer service. I walked in and was not greeted once (I was in the store for 15 minutes), went to checkout and the manager at the store was extremely rude to me. This is not the first time this has happened, the woodlands store is even worse. My mom and I both had on madwell tops and clearly shop there often. I'm not normally one to write reviews but this company does not treat their loyal customers well whatsoever! I usually get my madewell items either online or through Nordstrom. This location was the first that I actually stepped foot in recently. However, I will not be returning. I was not greeted, even though they were not busy. I was looking for a certain size of jeans for almost 20 minutes, rummaging through the ones laid out on the table and not one associate asked if they could help me find my size. I then took some to the dressing room, and didn't care for them, so I left and still felt ignored. The second time I came, I had to exchange an item I received for Christmas and I had the same shirt just a different size. When I told the associate I wasn't sure if my mom used her email to pay for it, she then asked the manager if she could do the exchange and the manager kind of got an attitude and said only if they could look it up with the email and find out how it was purchased and for how much and I would only received the lowest sale price. I then had to reiterate that I am exchanging for the same shirt just a different size. She just looked upset and told the other associate "Fine. Go ahead and exchange it." Sorry but from now on I will stick with purchasing through Nordstrom. read more

Stopped by Madewell yesterday to see if I could exchange a pair of pants I had purchased at the Austin location. I loved them and had just pulled them off the shelf, so I didn't notice that they were SUPER short. When I showed the 2 ladies helping me, Caitlin and Rachel, they immediately helped me find a replacement! It's customer service like this that will keep me coming back. First off, I love the brand Madewell and typically have really good experiences but that was not the case for the Highland Village location. I went in to buy shoes, was not greeted. I already kind of knew what I wanted and just needed my size and it took me a while to find someone to help me, to add insult I also started my own dressing room. I am finally at the check out and the person ringing me out says there's a customer message on the screen after I've given my madewell insider info. she calls on the manager, the manager asks the check out girl what the message is from across the room and the check out girl refuses to answer like maybe the message is something about me? I honestly have no idea but it was a really uncomfortable experience. The check out girl did not make eye contact with me at all during this process which made things all the more uncomfortable. I am here to spend money at this establishment, not be ignored. Even though the galleria location adds a little more stress to get to, I will be going there from now on read more
