Manager was rude and unprofessional. I had a disappointing experience at Fourth and Nomad today. I ordered a matcha with light ice and simple syrup, but when I received it, it was extremely milky and watered down, to the point where I could barely taste the matcha. (But that's not the worst part.) While my drink was being made, I noticed the employee (Paul) seemed unsure of the process. I asked how much matcha they typically use, and he told me he wasn't measuring it and was just eyeballing it--estimating about "a teaspoon," he said. After tasting the drink, I politely asked if he could add a little more matcha since I couldn't taste it. His response was, "Well, you asked for light ice, so that automatically means more milk." I explained that I understood that, but the drink was simply too watered down. When I asked for a refund if they couldn't add more matcha, Paul flat-out told me rudely, "I'm not giving you your money back," and said the matcha was too expensive to do that. (If the cost of the matcha is an issue for the business, that shouldn't be made the customer's problem) When I asked if he was the manager, he said yes. I told him that his customer service was very poor, and his response was, "Oh, I don't particularly care!" At that point, another employee stepped in, apologized for his behavior, and offered to remake the drink, refund me, or add more matcha. She was extremely kind and professional, and another employee who witnessed the interaction was also very nice. She ultimately added more matcha to my drink, and I appreciate the two ladies for making an effort to fix the situation. Unfortunately, the interaction with the manager, Paul, was so unnecessarily rude and unprofessional that it completely changed my impression of the business. Out of all of the cafes I've been to, this one is definitely one of the more unique ones. Upon walking inside, there is a cafe area with various boutiques/sellers surrounding it. Super aesthetic place with a little something for everyone. Parking is limited. The tiny lot was full when we were there. We opted to parking in another lot nearby [It was paid parking, but I believe it is free for 1 or 2 hours..] There is a good amount of seats in the cafe area and outdoor seating. Lots of people were working. The place was pretty quiet, not too noisy. I ordered a matcha latte [I forgot how much it costed], but it was pretty decent matcha in Houston. I'm not sure if it's a Houston thing, but the boutique/co-op style spot coffee shop combo seems like it's becoming a common thing. I've visited the coffee shop a few times, none of which I remember tbh, but I always remember the cute, custom greeting cards, the wafting scent of the candle shop in the back, and the random treasures I always find browsing. This visit was a sangria kit! I agree, the products are expensive, and the parking is wild, but it's always given me an excuse to get a little walk in, and encourages me not to overspend (because I wouldn't want to carry it back to my car). I love this artisan store/coffee bar. There's a few tables, chairs and a couch for seating and doing work or reading. I like their Not a Macchiato with oat milk. They sell everything from children and adult clothing, bags, jewelry (permanent and regular), candles, scents, stationary, books, teas, clay mugs/jewelry dishes, and wellness products. There's even a candle bar where you can sign up for a candle making class. While you shop, you can grab coffee or tea or order at the window to-go, if you don't want to go inside. I can find fair-priced clothing here once in a while like their denim skirts and jeans. Surprisingly, the jeans are a good length for my petite frame. There's a small parking lot, or if you're walking, it's also a stone's throw detour from the Heights trail and other shops and eateries along Yale where you can park and walk across. They have a couple couches, a study bar, and a huge table with hanging outlets for people to have conversations or get work done. I ordered the Teddy Graham Latte with oat milk and it was delicious! Not too sweet and the coffee beans tasted high quality, although I wish the espresso was a little stronger. The service was also great and the employees were super friendly. There's a huge parking lot on the side of the store so available parking space isn't an issue. Went here for their candle making class with a bachelorette party and it was such a great experience, the room is tucked nicely in the back of the store away from other customers. I've gotten permanent jewelry here before and wanted to come again with my mom and grandma, unfortunately we came right after a storm so the power was out in the shop. The owners met us outside and explained they still did not have power but recommended us to go to another shop to get the jewelry! We enjoyed every bit of it, smelling the different aroma's and learning the process of making a candle was more fun and interesting than I thought it would be. We peeked around the store before too before starting, they have some nice pieces in there. Also, they greeted us and asked if we wanted anything to drink such as wine and other beverages.
