Four days after purchasing the ring, the stone fell out during normal wear. A ring at that price should last much longer than four days. At that point, I no longer trusted the quality of their jewelry, which is why I requested a refund, not an exchange. Why would I exchange it for another ring if I had already lost confidence in their products? Instead of taking accountability, I was given the runaround. I was told people were on vacation and someone would call me when they returned. They're all back now, and I still haven't received a single phone call. When I told them my bank advised me to return the ring as part of the dispute process, they began closing the store earlier than their posted hours, making it impossible for me to return it after work. Then they told me they would never accept the ring back, that "that's not how banks work," and that I would never win my dispute. The employee I spoke with was incredibly dismissive and even implied that because I didn't buy an expensive ring, I shouldn't expect more. $334 is not cheap, and no customer should be made to feel like they're asking too much when a product breaks after only four days. I was also told their stones are not glued in, yet when mine fell out there was clearly adhesive on the setting. Rather than acknowledging a possible defect, they denied responsibility. The broken ring was disappointing, but the way I was treated was worse. A business should stand behind its products and treat customers with respect. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience.

When we arrived, another customer was checking out. We overheard her mention that the total was more than she expected and that she needed to call someone to send her more money. When it was our turn, we let the employee know it was our first visit and asked how the process worked. Instead of explaining it, she replied, "You just pick one," in a dismissive tone and then simply stared at us without offering any guidance about the chains, charms, pricing, or how the permanent jewelry process worked. A few moments later, a group of women who were not African American walked in. We watched the same employee warmly greet them, explain that they could try on the sample chains, and hand them the display so they could see the different options. This was the exact information we had asked for but were never given. That difference in treatment made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. As African American customers, we couldn't help but wonder if we were being judged. We can't know the employee's intent, but the contrast between how we were treated and how the next group was treated was hard to ignore. We ended up leaving without making a purchase and went to another jewelry store instead, where we received excellent customer service and happily got our matching bracelets and anklets. We were genuinely excited to support this business, so this experience was very disappointing. I hope this feedback encourages the staff to greet every customer with the same level of kindness, patience, and respect, especially first-time visitors who simply want to understand the process.

Today, I found Estate Watch & Jewelry Buyers (AKA Houston Gold Buyers) online and the reviews seemed better. I went here first with two others I never needed. This 35+ year business is run by a father-daughter team. Very small and friendly. They have a machine that scans for gold or silver content and will also indicate gold plate, copper, etc. Everything seemed very fair. They have to make a profit so don't expect full gold value, etc. I sold a small gold coin and 3 rings and was paid with cash. They do thumbprints, pictures and ID checks.
