It's the holiday season. I got lucky on one of the Sundays. I walked into this Nordstrom Rack Store and heard on loud speakers about the $10 off coupon on that day only. I quickly pulled out the app and bingo! I found it and bought a shirt for $2.98 on that day. I came back today and hoping to strike another luck. Not necessarily the coupon but I had a good experience on the clearance rack at the other Nordstrom Rack in Westchase. But there weren't any thing for me at this Galleria store. Then, I went to the shoe clearance racks but there weren't any clearance shoes. Ok. I found a couple of shoes with special tags on the regular priced racks. Ugh. So unorganized. Back in the summer, it was my first time here after shopped at Westchase Nordstrom Rack and really liked the merchandise. I found a shirt with price tag from Kohls. After I pointed it out to the dressing room attendant, she found a Nordstrom tag to put on there. Then upon check out, the cashier tried so hard to sell me the store credit card. I told her politely as I needed to pay off my current credit card debt before I would apply for their credit card. She said "I'll be watching you next time you come in. You're going to apply for the credit card." I stopped going there during the day. read more

My latest trip to this Nordstrom Rack location has me thinking the operation has gone downhill to a level of mediocrity I never anticipated. In the past, I would say shopping at Nordstrom Rack was always a good experience. I've been able to find gifts here and also items for myself. During previous shopping trips, the clothing and accessories selection was top notch. The Madewell earrings I purchased here were reasonably priced - like a real sale and good value. However, during my latest trip, I was actually unable to find any jewelry I liked and almost all of it was overpriced. The purses were also overpriced, and the main discounted items in that section were basically Steve Madden brand, which makes me laugh. I was able to find a beautiful scarf, but most of the other scarves I looked at were unremarkable. Hardly anyone else was in the accessories section aside from me. In fact, there were very few shoppers in the store on a Friday evening, which is a bad sign. In the past, this store would be crowded. In the shoes selection, there was no middle ground between heels/platform shoes and more sporty shoes. Hardly any flats! This is so odd and off to me, but maybe other people like it. Regarding clothing, I was able to find a cool brown shirt, but the way most clothing is organized in this store is counterintuitive and not helpful. The cashier did not greet me at all and had very little to say on the back end, so I just grabbed my bag and walked out. I doubt I would return to this location and have found shopping online or in person at the regular Nordstrom to be a much better experience. read more

Picking up my Nordstrom Rack online order was super quick and efficient. I just scanned my code and within seconds, they brought out my items (except the boxes were so big, I had a moment where I thought I ordered the wrong thing). It looked like I had Santa's whole Christmas haul for an entire household. That said, I love the deals, especially the extra online discounts, and the ease of shopping online and picking up in store made the whole process seamless. My order even arrived a full week earlier than expected, which is always a win. It gave me plenty of time to try everything on and still make any necessary returns well ahead of schedule. So much going on here. Went in with coworkers after a Friday team lunch and it was not as bad as I imagined. Parking lot is crazy busy but the store was way more organized than I expected. I hate shopping. So I was there for moral support and to help find things for my friends. They shop. A lot. Staff were super friendly even though they were very busy. The winner for me was a shoe finder machine. Friend found a shoe that she wanted but it was alone. So we went up and down the aisles and there are a lot of lost shoes. Because people are too lazy to put them back with their mates. She found a nice worker who had some hand held machine and as it got closer to the missing shoe, it beeped. It was the coolest thing. Needless to say my coworker was ecstatic. The shoes fit perfectly. The end. They had some decent sales and clearances and the customer base at this location were very diverse. Came here on a weeknight and it was a pretty nice and quiet shopping experience. Not a lot in the way of service to assist with anything but also its a Nordstrom Rack, so it is a bit of a search and find situation. The people I did interact with were all very nice and polite though (fitting room assistant/cashier). What I was surprised by was the selection for men. I was able to find some great items from brands I love (rag&bone, scotch & soda) at very discounted prices. Definitely well worth a stop to check out some clothes! read more

Nordstrom rack is one of my favorite stores because you can find really high quality brands deeply discounted and they usually have a large variety of sizes and styles to choose from. This location near the Galleria was one of the better ones in terms of the clothing brands they offered (scotch and soda; lucky brand; brooks brothers). The deals were fantastic (one pair of shorts went from $235 to $12 dollars after all discounts). There were some downsides that lowered the rating. First, the store was unorganized and messy. Second, their shoe selection (at least for men) was lackluster the day I visited. There were also sizes in the wrong aisle and some women's shoes mixed in. Third, the fitting rooms could use updating and a deep clean. If you can look past those minor inconveniences and focus on the products, you should come away satisfied. read more

I'm totally a #Nodrie fan , but this store has gone downhill terribly! Today there were four checkers, only one helping customers. The clothes are a Hot mess-reminds me of Marshalls. I have tried three times recently and I don't know why I bother to try anything on here they literally have nothing. The employees when restocking are just rude. They will reach in front of you, walk in front of you and all around you while you're trying to look at shoes so they can reshelf/stock what they have. Most of them don't even say excuse me. Oh Nordstrom Rack! How do I love thee. I found a rose fragrance roll-on French perfume for $10. Regular price was $30. I hope it's not being discontinued. Today I found a sweater! As I was paying, I noticed a little area unsewn on the edge of the sleeve. I asked the cashier Jane F. if she thought alterations could fix it. She took it to alterations while I waited at the cash register. She came back promptly and told me they had fixed it. What great customer service! read more

Employees are simply rude. It's a shame that people are out of work and these employees act the way they do. Others could do a much better job. The store is run down. The first time I went they had a big speaker up front playing music because their overhead system was broken lol. It was a bit ridiculous. They make up their own policies when they don't feel like working. This store is like a Marshall's or Ross. If you're doing online pickups only, it's fine depending on who's at the register and how the wind is blowing that day. I had higher expectations for Nordstrom Rack. This sounds like an exaggeration, but I was almost appalled when I walked it. It was dim, messy, they had tacky black balloons scattered around - it reminded me a lot like a swap-meat. How in the hell does Ross and TJ Maxx appear to be "nicer" than Nordstrom Rack? Explain, please? The handbag section was messy and deplorable; bags stacked over each other in a sad bin. Shoes - meh. If you're a size 10, ladies, you're gonna be golden. But size 6.5 girls like myself have barely one small row. More sadness. The only thing that ladies in my age group might appreciate are the jeans, but other than that, the majority of the tops are for older ladies. Things I did like: The sunglasses wall, but you need time to dig. Makeup, bath + body, and accessories. I walked away with a pair of Joes Jeans ($80) and a Free People cardigan ($50). I came here on Saturday to check out their grand opening weekend. I have been hearing a lot of hype about Houston finally getting a Nordstrom Rack. I wasn't expect much, since places like Off 5th are just eh... Well the rack surprised me! Their jean selection was huge. I was able to find a pair of Rock & Republics for 100, which is about 60% off. This weekend was a circus. The parking situation was nuts, with people literally throwing water at other drivers for taking too long to get out/go into a spot. Luckily I was able to find a spot a little bit away without any angry patrons. The rack apparently hired a lot of extra temporary staff to deal with the increased business. They had extra changing rooms on the side for guys since they were getting swamped. They even had a system for checking out with about 10 cashiers so even though there was a line to the back of the store it only took a few minutes to check out. I would suggest people waiting a couple of weeks before checking it out to let the hype die down. read more

I've never shopped at the Rack before so thought I would check it out while I was Xmas shopping this year. The store during the middle of the week was pretty empty by Houston standards, looked clean but for me I felt it was a little on the dark side in terms of lighting. As you get deeper into the store, it def., felt like it could use more lighting. Was pleasantly surprised to find a few racks of my favorite brand, Madewell in this outlet. Pricing was as much as if I just went to the store in Kirby but it's always nice to randomly pick up a tee shirt or two for 50% off. As far as the shopping experience, Nordstrom holds the bar when it comes to display and merchandise and while this store looked nice, it just didn't have the same vibe that the store inside the Galleria had. read more

I went here today in search of a new purse. I had heard this place was busy and it was, but I think it's so much better during the week! I was able to find a parking spot, but it wasn't easy. There is a garage behind Nordstrom Rack, I'd suggest that for busy days! Inside, you understand where the name 'rack' comes from. This is basically a huge warehouse but much better organized than Marshalls. I looked at some clothing and saw quite a few items that were nice and all were at least 50% off. There was a small selection of purses. I didn't find what I wanted but I will be back. There were several people working there constantly tidying the clothes and accessories up. I asked one about new shipments of purses and she was very pleasant. She said new purses come in sporadically, so you just never know. There was a single line for check out and the cashiers had a little red flag to show when they could take the next person. The line seemed to move quickly. This might have to be one of my first stops when shopping. You never know what you might find! read more

Meh, so I'm a huge fan of letting people know that I got that cute shirt or great pair of boots for XX% off at the XX store on XX and XX. No shame in finding and amazing deal and I love sharing. This store was a pretty solid meh, and I agree with Farrah that the other discount stores nearby that don't carry the same high end name are cleaner, more organized, and have way more efficient customer service. We went in to find a tie for my dad of which they did have a wide selection of Michael Kors. The shoe selection was nothing to write home about and I wasn't able to find much in the way of a great deal (personal preference of course). They have three express items lanes in the middle of the store for "5ish" items. We waited for a good twenty-plus minutes in this express lane. I checked the normal line and initially it made sense we wait in this express line with our one tie. I think some folks may think 5ish means how many things you can fit in your five fingers but they also had a new gal on the register here that may not have been trained in the ways of the express lane. I think with some digging I may have been able to find some deals and time to wait in the lines but as mentioned, I think some of the other discount stores are more my style and speed. read more

Place is messy, customer service none existent. I spent an hour choosing clothes to try on, just to bring it to a dressing room and to be told I can't try it on. 40 min before the store closes. I have chosen one top I was sure will fit and I spent 25 minutes waiting in line to check out. I have found better service at a TJ Max. The store doesn't value their customers time and money. I like shopping here but I did not have a positive experience with the cashier last night. Employees seem annoyed that customers are even in the store. I was checking out at 9:02pm last night and the lady checking me out is verbally saying things under her breath but loud enough for me to hear like "people need to get out". She was not saying it directly to me but I am right there checking out as she is saying this out loud. A customer with a cart comes to the registers and she says "you need to get on the carpet. You can't just roll up here." Mind you, we are the last people in the store trying to checkout and there is not even a line of people. The rudeness was shocking. I understand it is closing time and people want to go home but the way the cashier was talking and treating customers was disappointing and unacceptable. I hope improvements will be made because this is a great store in a great location! I'll keep this one short. I love the location of this store. It's located across the street from the Galleria. However, depending on what time of the day you go it can be difficult to find parking. The store itself is pretty organized. However, some of the dress racks are too packed to even bother to look through. The floor staff are not friendly people. I avoid asking for help at all cost! I had an associate actually straightened up things right behind me every time I touched something in the cosmetic section. And speaking of the cosmetic section, it's literally the best thing about this store! I always find great makeup for good prices. The only place where I've found Hudson, 7 For All Mankind, and Vince jeans for $49.95 + tax, on clearance, IN MY SIZE!! Holy crap! And no, I'm not talking about the Made in Mexico 7 jeans kind (yes, unfortunately some of 7 jeans are made in Mexico), but legit made in USA jeans kind. Who says you have to pay full price to be fashionable? I've bought jeans, athletic wears, shoes, socks, shirts, and all kinds of clothing from Nordstrom Rack. They have pretty good deal especially if you can find something in their clearance area. Not sure about the ladies section since I see a lot of people are complaining about organization; but the men area is pretty organized. But then again, we don't have as many selections as the ladies do and the men don't go trying 8-10 items all at once. The shoes area is pretty messy, though. All the shoes I found were all in the wrong boxes. I guess as long as the shoes fit in the box, stuff them in there! Check out line can be ridiculously long. But at the very least, it moves quickly. Parking in this shopping center can be a bit of a pain in the butt. Skip driving around looking for parking and go straight to the garage and walk to wherever you want to go. read more

As a person who abhors clothing and shoes shopping, it's strange to give a place like this five stars, but I must do just that. I have long been a fan of Nordstrom's, but this "TJ Maxx" version of Nordstrom's is just about as good as it gets! The store seems to be divided into quite a few categories, so if you think you're out of luck for your size in one area, keep browsing. I usually seem to go to about 5 different clothing racks, and I check multiple sizes, since there's all sorts of brands here, so not every size fits the same way. Biggest reason I Iove this place? I have always had the hardest time finding shoes in my size (size 6 or 6-1/2) but I have walked out with some steals from here (uhh, not literally) time and time again. Again, they seem a bit discombobulated with organization. Size 6 here...next aisle, size 6 clearance...and 7? It's random like that. Designer shoes are even in a separate area altogether. Another reason why I love this place is Jane makeup. You can't find that stuff anywhere anymore! They have it...although not a huge selection, it's up there near the registers. Drugstore makeup FTW! I'm not crazy about their jewelry. They have a smallish accessory area, as well as undergarments, men's clothes...seriously, it's like a cross between Nordstrom's and a glorified TJ Maxx or Ross. Without getting into the boring specifics of every "special" clothing item I've found (*gag*), let me just end with saying that I have found quite a number of beautiful items that I haven't seen elsewhere. Opening day was Feb. 25, 2010. My sister and I decided to check it out on Friday and it was packed like sardines up in there! Everyone was running around grabbing the best apparel and accessories. It was a mad house! I'll probably come back again when the hype blows over. + It was very well run. The lines looked long but it actually moved very quickly. + The clothing/bags/shoes, etc. were affordable. Everything was about 50% off. This place not only attracts the women but the men as well! There were so many men picking out designer jeans and shirts! Definitely hit up NORDSTROM RACK for some great deals! - They have an alarm system for the leather jackets. Makes sense since it's high $ item. I almost took the whole rack with me when I was walking off. The jacket had a leash attached from the jacket to the rack. So if you plan on trying it on, ask for someone to unleash it. I felt discouraged in buying it since the guy kept looking at me to hurry up. My favorite NR location out of the three (Bunker Hill, Willowbrook, Sugarland) that I've been too! There is a 4th location now in Webster area, but I have not gone to it yet. I feel like a child going to the playground every time I come. Its always so fun to look through everything and it feels like I'm going treasure hunting. There are gems to be found, I promise. You just have to look through everything. You can find from Jimmy Choos heals to Prada flats in the shoes area. It can get very overwhelming just because of the sheer volume and variety of products they have. But they do section off areas and label to try and make it easier for you to find stuff. They have shoes, womens', mens', kids', jewelry, handbags, accessories, home products, make-up/perfumes, literally like a department store, but everything is discounted!! They are pretty good about labeling sizes and posting signs. Hand bag section is always fun to look through as well. I found some treasures in this department before. The staff is nice and willing to help, so you can ask anyone with a green shirt on. I find that the customer service is better here than at any other NR locations that I've been too. Free in store wi-fi! Usually during holidays (Veterans Day, Labor Day, Independence Day, etc.), they will have Clear the Rack events where all clearance items (red tags) are an extra 25% and Black Friday it's extra 30%. read more

I use to work at Nordstrom's back in 1998. It was the best job I ever had because of the company culture. It was so easy to say yes to the customer because the employees were empowered by the management to serve the customer. These rack employees I take it have not received any customer service training because they do not show any of the customer service culture that I learned was encouraged to provide. I love Nordstrom Rack! People forget that it is still Nordstrom, so yes it will be still pricey for some good quality items. Personally, I usually skip the clothes and look at everything else. Last season's Kate Spade watch? Discounted from $200 to $80. Score! Michael Kors red leather jacket that fits oh so perfectly? Discounted from $400 to $200. It's an okay deal, but come on! It's red! I've also gotten some nice brown leather booties for $15. As with any discount store, you will have to scrounge a little and dig a little. But that's sort of the fun with shopping here. Discount clothing stores is the reason why I'm NOT perpetually in sweat pants and ratty t-shirts (my college staples, ah miss them!). The way I somehow always manage to destroy and stain my clothes (I'm a beast, what can I say?), you bet your happy butt, I'm always rifling through sales and clearances. Conveniently located near the Galleria (and Nordstrom), Nordstrom Rack receives all the Nordstrom cast-offs. I'm assuming it consists of overstock, excess, out of season inventory. I'm not sure whether Rack carries stuff simultaneously still offered/in season at Nordstrom, I assume not but like I pay attention to what's "in season" anyway. Look at me for crying out loud! Anyway, I've been here a couple of times and I've courted dozens of dresses and adorable and not-so-adorable other ensembles in the dressing room. So far . . . nothing. So why the four stars? Well buddy, because this place shows promise, and I just know one day I'll finally score! Okay seriously though, there have been a few dresses here and there I've been iffy about, but ultimately decided to forgo because I simply wasn't feeling "wowed" enough. It's a mood of the moment thing, I don't have to explain myself any further than that! It can be tricky at times to find apparel in my size, because apparently I'm in the demographic that usually buys up all the available inventory at Nordstrom or before I ever get a chance to check it out at the Rack. Blasted! The shoes section looks magnificent and tasty, but I haven't dedicated much time to getting to know it, just yet. Hm, what else . . . Well Nordstrom Rack can possibly be considered as well, classier than Ross and Marshalls? I mean, don't get me wrong, some of the customers here are just as pushy, un-courteous, and messy, but it doesn't seem to be as serious of a problem here.
