I love thrifting, but I've only recently discovered Value Village and I'm sad it's taken so long! First, I LOVE that they organize the clothing by both type and color!!!! When I'm clothes shopping, I'm typically on a mission for something specific and it makes it much easier to try to find it when I can narrow down where to search for it. For example, on my most recent visit I was searching for a pair of red shorts, and I'm thrilled to say that I was able to find the perfect pair for me as it was in my size! Plus it had its original price tag, so it had never been worn before. Extra score!!! The dress rooms are near the front of the store, which I didn't notice until I was in line waiting to pay for my items. I was here near closing time, and they kept making multiple announcements about it over the intercom. I found this to be excessive and very annoying. Plus, I later found out that the dressing rooms were actually CLOSED, even though the store wasn't closed yet. That said, try to get here at least an hour before closing if you want to try on before you buy. Happy hunting, y'all! read more

I can't believe I'm saying this but they make Goodwill look super affordable in comparison. Its actually predatory pricing because they're charging the most to people that can least afford it. SICKENING! I mean, used/stained New Balance shoes for $48? Are you trying to go out of business?! Or is your pricer smoking crack out back? Only go here on 50% off days. The cleanest thrift store I've been to in a while but also overpriced This was my first time stopping by here and I was on a mission to find a variety of home goods. Unfortunately they didn't have what I was looking for but they do have a lot of clothing ! I'd say the majority of the place is clothing, so I'll have to come back in the future when that's something I'm willing to go through. The clothes section is organized quite well and so are the shoes/accessories. However, the shoes/accessories I picked up were overpriced compared to other shops. There aren't many toys, but they do have a section of larger size toys and stuffed animals. There aren't many smaller toys. They also have a huge selection of games and puzzles which I was excited to see ! However they were priced too high to take a chance on There being missing pieces which was disappointing. I browsed the books and media as well. It looks like some of it has been sitting there long enough to be discolored. There's a significant selection of religious (christian/catholic/Bible related) books, dvds, and cds. Overall this thrift store is fine. It won't be at the top of my list but I do want to come back to browse the clothing, maybe there could be some good finds in there. The lack of professionalism, or concern for any matters you may have will completely go out The window ! Management is completely and Profoundly rude. Though your money is always accepted! You would think the area it's in they would be a bit more friendly however that is not the case . If you like your visits with employees to be cold ,stern and just down right disrespectful then this is the store for you. Being a Thrifter, I would take your business elsewhere. It's definitely not appreciated at this location . Your hard paying dollars is going into what's being donated in their stores. The store manager, Allison was incredibly and horribly dismissive her behavior her interaction with customers is undeniably the worst I have yet to see . Simply put, this thrift store is over priced. I have been shopping all things second hand for a long time. I do not mind paying up for premium items at a consignment store. Value village is NOT a consignment store but the prices for the items are very much so giving consignment shop. While the store has a lot of clothing inventory for women, men and children, the pricing is just off. Let me give you an example, they are selling cowboy boots for $90, and wal mart brand swimsuits for $10. The dresses were $10-$15, I even saw some priced at $20! I don't know who is in charge of pricing at this store, but clearly they are trying to be greedy. In speaking with another patron while at the store she noted there was a beat up stereo on the shelf that they wanted $25 for! She noted that she could purchase it new for the same price! I wish I could give a better rating to this store, but I just can't get behind thrift stores that over charge for their inventory. read more

This is my least favorite thrift of this chain and the competition. I don't mind when things get priced high and usually I can see rightfully so. It's fair enough, I don't ever feel ripped off by any means elsewhere. Here, the treasures are few and far between, the prices for anything decent is super high. At these prices you might as well just go on eBay and shop. There's no great feels of scoring cool pieces for your collection. Today, I picked up an apple peeler. I love making apple butter. A peeler on Amazon is $20. The box was pretty taped shut. I asked the cashier if I could see it and she says they inspect it in the back before they put it out and that's why it's taped. Brought it home hopefully to a broken piece of junk. There goes $5 bucks. And on top of that, I bought some other crap I really could have put back and it wasn't much for the totally to come out $45 where she didn't tell me that I'd get a 50% coupon later after Christmas if I had spent $50. So now I'm out any savings there and my 5 bucks. I asked her if we could run the transaction again or id get 5 more dollars but she wouldn't budge. I never had even left the cash register. I asked to speak to a manager, just thought that would be the person to be able to see what was going on and override as it was worth a shot. She said she was the manager. Big ole white lady, I didn't get her name,I really just felt uncomfortable and put off. She was giving smirks of satisfaction and contempt. It's Christmas Eve.Forget the coupon, I didn't make a fuss, that never solves a thing but I knew I could come here and smile as I let y'all know not only is every time a mediocre time there, their pricer and manager need some training in their field from pricing antiques and vintage to customer service. This thrift store has plenty of women's clothing and decent amount of toys and men's/children's clothing. Furniture is not a strong suit here and overly-priced. This thrift store prices on the higher end than other thrift stores. There is 2 fitting rooms. There is a new rewards program where you spend a total of $100 (can be added up over multiple trips) and get $10 off your next purchase. This is done via your phone number - no punch cards. There is a clearance rack for $0.99 (mostly unwanted clothes). They offer special promotions for certain color tagged items each day. Additionally there are 50% off days nearing the holidays so be sure to follow their social media pages or check your emails. I've thrifted here since 2014 and there's been A LOT of changes. I am a patient thrifter and will spend hours looking for stuff, so here's my honest opinion. The selection of clothes has gone down in both quantity and quality. There will be little gems, but they're harder to come by with the whole thrifting trend going on. The prices has gone dramatically up at this store since it is the Heights and more people are opting to thrift. There are fitting rooms right when you enter the door. (Everyone ignores the "try on only 3 articles"). There is no restrooms available. During the 50% off days, the store becomes packed and everything is taken. Overall, if you're an avid thrifter, put this store at the bottom of your list. I barely stop by anymore bc (1) there's barely any gems anymore and (2) the rewards program has turned to shit. read more

I have been passing this place up for years and years and finally out or boredom decided to stop on in with my son. I usually look for artificial trees in these places. This place is very high and weirdly priced. When you go to your normal run of the store you usually find prices like $2.99 $5.95 or even a flat price . Here their prices are weird like $4.38 . $9.41 I mean wth ? There are no smiling or greeting employees here just some security looking guy with a 50 cent plastic toy bubble novelty machine that you put 2 quarters in and crank the dial. It is okay to be watched in a store but when the guy stares at you everywhere you go like you are a criminal then there must be something wrong. This is an even more uncomfortable feeling then when you are walking in walmart and you here over the intercom " security scan isle such and such". I did not think it could get any worse than that. One of the best thrift stores I've came to! Organized and neat....nothing is ever on the floor unless there's some unruly kid taking all of the toys down. Only gave a 4 star rating since some of the same brands they have vary in price by $6-$10.....or more! There's no consistency in pricing, but they do have a lot of great finds. I always try and stop by and see what I can find especially old uniforms with names. They used to have these separate in one area but now they are mixed making my quick stop harder. I also do through and look at shoes to find some of my favorite ones with little use and at a fraction of the cost. No luck this time on the shoes but did find some bar glasses and a decanter that matches what I had. There was a long line but the two working the register were quick so it didn't take long. I was not asked if I had a coupon or a frequent buyer card like the guy in front of me said he had. I did feel bad because my Spanish was bad to ask about these things or disturbing the line. I shop lots of thrift stores and do my comparisons on customer service, how clean the stores are, merchandise, management, and prices , on the most part this store is clean, but it could be alittle cleaner and the restrooms could be cleaner and updated most day there is no toilet paper or any paper towels to dry your hands, I usually take my own tissue paper with me. the toilet tops were broken, and the soap to wash your hands was a dirty bar of soap, graffiti on the wall. the merchandise is good some of it is overpriced but there are still great deals, management sucks like hell! but what can you expect from some twenty year olds trying to manage 40,50, and 60 year olds? the best part of my shopping spree is the happy cashiers and how they work as a team Rosie, Nicole, Marie, and Brandon. read more

I am an avid thrifter. Owning my own vintage shop, I am constantly on the lookout for an awesome thrift store. I've heard mixed reviews about this place. But I found it to be pretty decent. Pros: First things first, never expect for a thrift store such as this one to be clean and/or organized. Most of the complaints I heard were about the store's appearance. Although it's not as clean as stores such as Goodwill, it was well organized to where you can find what you need. It was EXTREMELY cheap. All the prices for things are different, so you can find some great bargains. I got 5 dresses, a top, and a pair of shoes for literally $20. It's all about what you're looking for. They had tons of shoes. I often have a hard time finding shoes, but they had a huge selection (unorganized though, no size sections.) Cons: Just really dirty. The dressing rooms looks they've never been cleaned in their life and didn't even have a mirror inside. (But it's alright because you're basically paying dirt cheap for things. Hardly any of the employees speak English, so don't ask questions. Overall, it's just a place you REALLY need to look through. There's some great items if you don't mind getting your hands dirty and searching through gobs of clothes. read more

This is one of my favorite places to shop, with one exception. If you find something that you want, but there is no tag on it, just put it back on the shelf and keep moving because they will NOT re-tag it when you are there or make up a price for you while you wait. It goes back into the "pile" to be priced whenever the people who do that are in. You might find it the next day, you might not. I understand *why* they do it, but it can be very frustrating. Their prices are a little weird, but I don't care - name brand bags and purses for $3.20? Ok, Brand name jeans with tags on for $5.60? Fine. It takes a while to get through the racks, but if you are a "digger" then you will be ok with it, and come out with some really great stuff for cheap. Just bring your hand sanitizer. read more

I hadn't been "thrifting" in a long time but was feeling inspired from some blogs I've recently seen about upcycling thrift store finds so I decided to drop in here and check out. I remember always finding amazing stuff for super cheap at ValueVillage many moons ago. They do have a lot of clothes, but after checking out the tags on some items I might've considered buying , I was blown away by the prices. I mean, I am Not cheap and but nice clothes all the time, but I was shocked what they are peddling pilled up, out of date clothes for here. Don't they know you can go to Ross, Marshall's, target, old navy and many other places and get BRAND new items for less than what they're trying to sell disgusting used items for. Half of the store just looked like it needs to be thrown in the trash in all honesty. There were jackets for $70, skanky charters baby sleepers for $6 a piece, balled up shirts for $6 a piece, that should be in the garbage. $15 for broken coffee machines, you can buy brand new at wal mart for that price, and hideous out dated wall art was on average $20 a piece. Bottom line, if you're looking for budget thrift store gem finds, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking to pay more than retail for used garbage that is honestly throw away, this might be your kind of store. read more

There are so many thrift stores and vintage shops in the area, it's hard to know which ones are going to be over priced, dirty, crowded, gross, or not what you are looking for. I recently had a birthday party that was 1990's themed. I needed an outfit so I went here to see if I could find anything. I was immediately impressed when I walked inside. It is so well organized. I had been shopping at the Family Thrift Center on Durham and going crazy by how jam packed, and crowded it was. The store had a clearly marked section for plus sized for me, I didn't have to dig and search. I found so many awesome things for my costume, but more than that, there were nice clothes that I could have bought for every day use. My husband found an amazing blazer/professors jacket here for $4. I swear, it looks like it was tailored for him. They have more than just clothes too. There were a lot of really cool pieces of furniture and toys here. I even saw the Barbie house I had when I was a kid here. I almost bought it out of nostalga! The parking lot is nice, and big. There were 4 different lines for check out, and it didn't smell gross. Those are thrift store wins in my mind. read more
