It was nice to see the thrift store packed. Most customers had clothes. They have a pretty good selection of clothes. Small very small selection of kitchenware and housewares. Glassware spread out throughout thrift store on top.of clothes racks. A whole section of holiday items. Most things were priced way higher than other goodwill locations, maybe the area has to do with it. read more

I used to love this goodwill! It always had great items and had a dressing room which is something I look for when I'm shopping especially at thrift stores where the sizes are so inconsistent. I went this weekend and they had a super condescending sign up where the dressing rooms used to be (they took the doors off). I've included the sign here. I likely won't be shopping here anymore because I don't feel like I can buy something without trying it on. Especially when I know that I can't even get my money back just "store credit". read more

I have been coming here to this location for years. Among many other locations, but this one specifically. When other big corporations started seeing us (the people) as numbers on a chart instead of , teachers, moms, dads, kids, ect. goodwill was there to give us what we needed at a fraction of the price it was retailing and giving it to us in good condition. This location has gone so downhill soooo fast. I wouldn't go there for anything as of now. The items are not only sometimes more expensive than what they would retail for, they are also in terrible shape and often times missing pieces. I've been told by MULTIPLE staff members that it's the new manager. Staff has said that management wants to make the most money off of the items so they look up what it's retailing for and then what it's being sold for used. After learning that I started price and I found more items that were listed at retail price then items that were being sold as pre-loved prices. That's right, they are selling used items at FULL retail price. And most of it is in TERRIBLE condition! and if it's not in bad condition, make sure the pieces are there because most of the time it's missing something. It's just ridiculous. It's not what Goodwill is. DO NOT GO HERE. unless you want to be ripped off. I want to end this by saying I am an advent Thrifter and I'm not a reseller. I've donated my entire life while also being a shopper. I've never gotten an electronic with a missing piece In my 15 years shopping with them prior. I've now gotten 10 items from them with missing parts. And most of the time it's not visible parts. It's parts that you have to take it apart in order to find out that it's missing. So it's not something that you could just open it up and see that it needs a piece. Whoever is running this new location is profit happy and have completely lost the plot. Goodwill is not supposed to be turning a huge profit, that's never been their thing. They also treat and pay their employees like garbage. Unfortunately Salvation Army is the same in terms of treating their workers like garbage. They pay them nothing while also asking rent. And I know tons of people who've gone through that program looking for help so Ive seen the abuse that Salvation Army employees have to endure first hand. Most of their employees are in their living/working/addiction programs so they're also just being exploited on a whole other level. read more

I was in need of a dress for a wedding and decided to check out the gw near me! Although it doesnt look like much on the outside it's huge on the inside! I found 2 really awesome dresses and they had a HUGE selection! I could've been in there for hours! However I will say I thought that items were a little over priced, I wanted to get two dresses but the were both around 9 dollars so I just opted for the one I needed. One of the black dresses I tried on also gave me a rash but little things like that can be expected when thrifting and trying on clothes, especially if you have sensitive skin like me! Oh, this is too good it is bad. As many Houstonians know, the Heights are known for our teeny tiny closets. Which makes this Goodwill a gold mine. There is soooo many good things at this goodwill. I often walk in and walk across Jimmy Choo and Cole Haan shoes. And then I wish that I wore a size 6 shoe. The staff is very friendly and are always organizing. Not gonna lie, this is hands down the best Goodwill I've ever walked into. I've been to the Goodwills in San Francisco (trendiest city in the west), but it simply doesn't compare. Things that set it apart: 1. Clean and organized (I didn't even use hand sanitizer after I got back into my car) 2. Great brands 3. Small but excellent book selection Usually, Goodwills have no discernment for what donated goods they place on their racks. And usually, that is made very obvious by rows and rows of outdated, tacky clothing. But here, you've got some great brands-- Banana Republic, Gap, Old Navy, Ann Taylor, Michael Kors, etc. Definitely a great bargain store for building up your professional wardrobe. It's a little pricier than other Goodwills-- all blouses, tank tops, and sweaters were $5.99-- but worth it for the higher proportion of quality clothing. Though I thoroughly appreciated their great selection of clothing, I was pleasantly surprised by their modest selection of books for $1.99 each. Many of the books looked new, and a good amount of them were best sellers. I ended up with Freakanomics, Eat Pray Love, and Water For Elephants. read more

This is the best Goodwill store I have been to in Houston. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of clothing in 00 and 0 sizes - and in high quality brands too! The pants and skirts are well organized by size, which make it very easy for me to find a good item quickly. The staff are very polite as well. I came here recently to make sure I made my donations for 2013. I donate throughout the year but need to make sure you have your receipts in before tax season starts up. They have an area where you can pull up and they have people come out to help you load up your donations. This store is very clean and organized. I liked the selection at this store; lots of good brand names like Express, Ann Taylor, Urban Renewal, Forever 21, and Gap. I also liked how everything in the store was color-coded. It wasn't anywhere near cheap though. At least not compared to the more low-priced thrift stores I have been to where shirts range from $2-$5. Shirts here were all priced at $7 and jackets were $10 and up. Jeans and pants were $7, which I thought was pretty reasonable. For casual shirts, though, I thought $7 was a little high. All in all, the store had a good layout and was very organized. The customer service was good. I'd probably only go back if I had things to donate and needed some new pants. read more

Last year I bought a lot of books at the Goodwill on 20th St. Now I very seldom do. Before they jacked up prices there were many of every type priced at .99 cents with some slightly more expensive. Now almost all are $2.99, $3.99 or higher no matter how small they are or what condition. $4 for a child's board book with only four or five pages is ridiculous. read more

Forget the small River Oaks location, this one is one of the better Goodwill's in the Houston area. I seem to find at least 1 item each time I come in, no matter how big or small it is. They have started to place the larger items up front behind the counter so make sure and view that area as well if you're looking for a unique item. Clothing is decent too, but it is Goodwill pricing, so a little higher than your small thift store prices. read more

Goodwill reimbursed me for the cost of the jacket they wrongfully sold. I wasn't able to get the exact one I had, but was able to replace it with something very similar. I will say the manager went out of his way to review security cameras to find out exactly what happened to my jacket. Upon realizing it was wrongfully sold, the district manager reimbursed me no questions asked. I still will not shop there again, but thankful it was resolved the way it was. Thank you. read more

Popping tags at a low low low price and still look good to boot? Yup, there is the place, boys and girls. Selection is pretty awesome. However, I must warn you, it's a bit time consuming since size arrangement is a bit out a place (but it is color-coded. Holla!). If you're willing to sort through and have a bit patience you'll often find your size and of course, style. For men, don't even bother looking for shoes, they're mostly worn and beat-up, for jeans, jackets, and shirts, there're plentiful. Keep your eyes at the wall near the cash register. There are often a few selected items that above the normal fixed price, but it is well worth a look. Service is awesome, the staff is all so kind. Love my experience here! I was skeptical about stepping into a Goodwill, but boy was I pleasantly surprised. Before I knew it, I spent two and a half hours shuffling through the aisles trying to find stuff. I found one blouse and nice slacks! There were some additional stuff I wanted to get but decided not to because my closet is already overwhelmed...but I can see why you can go crazy in the store. They have a boutique rack that has all the big name brand clothes that are not worn or gently worn. The prices are higher than the regular racks but still a huge deal compared to the hundred of dollars it'll cost you at the department stores. For the regular racks, I still saw some name brands slacks that belong to the likes of LOFT, Ann Taylor, Tahari, the LIMITED, etc. I was in business casual heaven. :) As for blouses, it was a little harder to find the type I like to wear and yet again there is an abundance of name brand clothes. After going to this Goodwill, I am definitely a fan! I think they have sales everyday so you can call in before and ask what's on sale. The downside is it's so far from where I live so this is probably a twice a year deal. But it's very much worth it. read more

Also there is a shelf of records and album covers and when I got home I tried them on my record player and surprisingly they weren't that scratched up! This is not a store I would recommend for several reasons... For one, they never have a good selection of goods to choose from and therefore it's never really that busy in there. Due to the whole E-commerce deal..they don't have certain items that im always looking for...Another issue I have is that apparently you can stake claim on items in the store even if someone shows interest in them....I was here a few months ago and saw an item that I wanted to purchase but because another customer saw it, even though it wasn't in his basket, he was allowed to purchase it just because he "staked claim" on it...total garbage haven't been back since.....not a friendly evirontment like it used to be read more

The store truly can be called a select store. The merchandise was well sorted and for the most part free of things like stains and defects and age that you see it other Goodwills. My husband loves books and they had lots of good quality books reasonably priced. I just wish the Goodwills in the Beaumont area would take note of the pricing at this store. I would love to give this location give stars because they always have such a great selection of times. However, my last experience there was lackluster. Why? Because while I was checking out this high strung manager came out and laid into her employees. She was blaming both ladies at the register for not taking their breaks because then it looks bad for her. And she made a complete show of it. Managers are supposed to manage their stores and their employees. That means Makin sure everyone gets a break. They were busy, so they couldn't have just left on break with no relief. To make matters worse, I was buying a light coat and the person ringing me up asked the manager what to ring it up as and the manager had the BIGGEST attitude. She rolled her eyes at the woman and very rudely said "coat!". Does this manage not understand what it means to LEAD? you have to show respect to your employees to earn respect. She needs to either be trained better or replaced. There is no reason to treat your employees like idiots in front of customers. Or behind closed doors for that matter. I'm very disappointed that my favorite Goodwill has a manager like this. read more

I was in this store one day when a TV crew was doing a segment on thrift shopping for professional wardrobes for women. The crew had the "model" taking up two dressing rooms. There was a line wrapping around the inside of the store. The crew did not seem to give a rat's rib that they were inconveniencing about 30 people waiting for a fitting room. The staff was equally as rude and not really giving a flip because the publicity was more important to them than their customers. I asked if I could return something that I couldn't try on if it didn't fit and they said in a nasty tone "Store credit only!" I understand that they supposedly help recovering addicts, but these people need to act like they are in recovery and not on a street corner. They can have a sale for a penny for every item in the store and I won't go in there. That left a bad taste in my mouth, permanently. read more

I just visited this Goodwill on Wednesday and was I impressed! I'm no stranger to thrift stores, particularly Goodwill and Salvation Army. After visiting my local Goodwill many times and never finding clothes I liked, I gave up on that location. At this Goodwill I found lots clothes from Ann Taylor, Jones New York, J. Crew and more. My best find however, was a Berkeley Classic fold away art/drafting table . It retails for $154.00 but I got it slightly used for $34.99! read more

I love this location!!! I drove from Spring after reading some of the reviews about this Goodwill. And I must say it was worth the drive! I walked out with 5 blouses/cardigans all name brand and almost new condition and some home decor in perfect condition for under $50!! I found my favorite Goodwill! As well as the one of Sawdust in The Woodlands. It is a little time consuming looking through everything. Be prepared to spend 2 hours or more in this store :) read more
