The rewards! Seriously, FTC is probably one of the best chain thrift stores to go to, period. The prices vary and are not all one price fits all, which for me is great! Plus, when they mark items down it's half off. When I shopped at Goodwill it seemed that everything was always so high and there was never any discount on clothing and when I discovered that Goodwill culls all the great stuff before it hits the floor and the great stuff makes it to their website I was turned off. Enter FTC which truly put gems in the mix! This place is AWESOME for work clothes, summer clothes, winter clothes... you name it! If you go, you've gotta do the the rewards program, you give them your phone number and then you collect "points" based on every 10$ you spend, on that Sunday you go and redeem your "points" up to 100$ worth of merchandise. Ex. you have 50% off, you get 50$ off of 100$ and then everything after that goes full price. The selection for plus size clothes is amazing, and although the subsections are not advertised on the ceiling (all you see is where girls, boys, women, men, housewares etc are) there are defined places for everything and most clothes are separated by color. The plus size sections usually span 2-3 looong racks. The bad: if you find something without a tag, they won't sell it to you, apparently the pricing team only comes on certain days and they are the only ones who can price something... which is understandable considering their "tags" are stapled scraps of paper with sometimes writing on it that is so confusing it adds to the amount of wait time at the registers because sometimes the cashiers cannot read it. My philosophy on the tag situation is that if it is missing, I still bring it up because then they can let the pricing people know that they skipped something. How else will they know? The ugly: the lines, the children! The lines are usually incredibly long and sometimes not even worth it. If you go on a Sunday be prepared for AT LEAST a 5 minute wait but more like a 15 minute wait... you've been warned. The children... oh the children... it seems that parents bring the whole family, which makes sense considering there are no returns accepted, but they let their rugrats loose to wreak havoc on all the other patrons. They even have a protocol to go over the intercom at certain intervals and remind parents in spanish and in english to keep their kids with them and in the carts at all times but that doesn't help. I seem to have turned into the mean old lady who scolds wild children... Recently one child smashed a glass object in the women's section (I wish I was kidding) and a number of employees passed it up to go get more racks of clothes to put up... what?! This location seems to be a bit more of a mess than other locations... meaning, the patrons are much more lazy and leave their empty no longer in use carts in front of the dressing rooms, blocking the entrance to the line and seriously it is like a sea of carts and next to impossible for another person to push their cart through if they need it.

I have never been disappointed by anything I have purchased online or in store. Their store layout has definitely improved throughout the years, they have opened a bigger Boutique. The selections in the Boutique are reasonably priced and you no longer have to worry about being in a tight location like previously. All the departments are well kept and you will find something good every time you shop. They have specials daily which you can find out about through their social media posts. The parking lot is no longer an issue as they have completed their renovations. I love the selection of children's books and adult books which are priced at low prices. The toy department has a lot and the board games are probably my favorite. The employees and volunteers are so nice and helpful. If you are looking for a place to volunteer, this is the place for you. Just ask one of the store employees. I enjoy their 1/2 off quarterly sales and their sidewalk sales they occasionally have. They also have CDs, DVDs, vinyl's, electronics, furniture, and tons and tons of clothes. They are priced individually and like I said, look for the deals of the day. They have evening gowns and I have even seen wedding dresses on occasion which are displayed on the windows. They have a second location in the Heights across the street from Hogg Middle School which is also a great location, just smaller in size but also great. But it turned out that this gem was the real highlight of our day. First, it's HUGE! There is no doubt that this is the largest, brightest, and most well organized resale shop we've ever visited. It's so well thought out, and it's actually attractive. Unlike comparable venues, this one is not messy, but rather everything is in it's place, easy to locate, and a superb bargain. But the greatest value when visiting here is the staff of volunteers. They are nothing less than wonderful, with their incredibly hospitality and their very obvious joy in being there. They were so helpful, and accommodating. We spent some time with Elizabeth, Pearl, and Laura. What a wonderful way to pass some time. It's hard to express how they extended themselves to make certain that we left entirely satisfied. We just couldn't wait to let others know that this little jewel is there waiting for you on Blalock, and to tell others that they'll be completely pleased when they stop by. They have well organized bins with daily by the pound specials. Thursday is the best bargain day at $1 per pound of clothes! On the Tuesday we visited they also gave out large 25 lb mystery bags as a free gift to shoppers while supplies lasted. My soror took the bag for her 8th graders. I hope the bag contains some great bounty for them. I bought several skirts and dresses for work. They have a great assortment of longer skirts. I also bought a few pairs of linen pants. I haven't ever stolen, and I had no intentions of starting today, but they were certainly concerned and acting rudely. Racism of another flavor I guess. I felt unwelcome, and uncomfortable. One hovered like a hawk. Another acted mildly annoyed when asked a question. The quality of the clothing is not the same. You could likely do much better at the MAM boutique on N Blalock and that money goes to a good cause.
