I've been thrifting for a few years and I've been shopping at this Value Village location since I was 15 so I'm pretty familiar with it lol It's a thrift store so...you kinda get what you can expect. When I first started coming here the prices were waaaaaayyyyy cheaper than say at Goodwill or Salvation Army but over the passing years their prices have been slowly going up and up. Most of the time it's really hit or miss. At one time I found a cute little set of 5 baking dishes that were $3 bucks but their real price was over $40 bucks online and yet other times they have ratty t-shirts selling for $4 bucks, yeah, I think not. As I mentioned, it's hit or miss. Now they do have their selective days where everything with a GREEN tag or RED tag etc is 50% off or so. They also offer their Frequent Shopper Card that you have punched during each visit and you get a stamp for every $5 spent and 10 stamps gets you 50% off your next entire purchase. They have their sections of clothing, books and housewares organized enough, but it takes patience to find something worth your money. I've found it best to come during mid week as opposed to the weekends since mostly everything is picked over come Saturday or Sunday. If you're in the area and feel like thrifting this place is worth a try and see what luck you have in finding goodies. Most of the items here are damaged or dirty. OCCASIONALLY, you will stumble upon a brand new with tags item but it is usually heavily marked up. Last night, I visited this store and found an item that I really wanted and had the cash in hand to buy. Because there was no price tag on it or it came off, the clerk refused to sell me the item and stated that this is "against policy to sell it without a price". Why was there no manager OR why was it even on the shelves without a price to begin with? She told me that the pricing clerk does not come until in the morning. They are costing themselves countless dollars in profit by making up stupid policies. Goodwill is so much better and you can actually find clean and good items. Stay away from this place! read more

I love thrift shops and this is one of the best ones out there! There are many name brands at cheap prices! For instance, I got a pair of men's Russell athletic shorts for 60 cents! As many other thrift shops, they staple the tag to the clothing. So just be careful not to create a hole when removing the staples. The store has a clear layout of different items. All of the clothes are organized regarding to what they are (shirts, pants, pajamas, athletic wear, etc) and not by size. This was my first time going to this store and I was extremely impressed by the prices. Not only that, by viewing their website it seems you can sign up for a reward card and get 40% off on certain days and also receive something for your birthday. read more

Value Village quality has gone down in less than 4 months. They haven't added any new clothes this year and changed all old stuff tags and inflated prices on Walmart brand. Keep In Mind I used to shop here religiously since 2017 I can see the difference between December of 2018 and January 2019. You can't afford to buy a decent dress or skirt or anything of that matter because everything is 10$ or more. And that's not worth your money, they used to sell shirts for .50c and dresses for max 4$. The reason people shop at a thrift store is for Lower (Value) prices than the retailers. I recommend you save yourself your time and just go to a different thrift store like family thrift because at least there they know the value. read more

The store is on the large side and racks are over packed with merchandise. There are bargains to be had but you really have to dig for them. The staff is mostly Spanish speaking so I had trouble asking questions. My checkout time was long as there was only one clerk although there were lots of other staff members milling about. Also no one seemed to know what the specials were for the day even though they were written on the board as you come in the door. If you enter from the side street, be aware there's no sign on the building itself. There's just a sign on the street. read more

The store is very organized and they have a variety of new items with tags still on them - slightly new - to vintage and really used!! There frequent shopper card is back too!! This place is pretty awesome when you are looking for something retro or vintage, they have a wide selection (as far as women go). The people who come here are also nice, one time a woman gave me one of her 50% off coupons because she had too many (how does that happen?!) and it would expire before she could use it! Another time, a woman let me cut in line (without me asking) because she had a cart full of stuff and I only had one item! The prices for the most part are right and I definitely have found some awesome items here so I don't really feel like they follow the footsteps of Goodwill and cull and put online. That being said, usually there is only one cashier at any given time so be prepared to wait in line if you are there during "rush hour". Usually the lines move kinda fast. Everything is pretty organized as far as thrift stores go. I have not run across anything without a price so I cannot speak to their no pricing policy(ies). They have a rewards punch card that you get punches for every $5 you spend, but I have only been asked once if I had one, which incidentally was when I acquired one, so don't forget about it or chances are you will miss out on your punches! Parking is easy but don't forget that you are on Shepherd and 23rd so there's one-way traffic on Shepherd so if you need to get back to I10 use 23rd! read more

This place is hella expensive. I guess these stores have gotten the trend of people wanting to thrift and really making a lot of money. I was super close to just walking out as those that work there give 0 fcks about you and service. Def wasn't a great visit while in Houston for the 1st time. read more

For the most part, this place is overpriced. I will say that one positive is that there's a mixture of current and older fashion brands and trends. Their jewelry cases are always fun to look at. But again, overpriced. You can easily walk out with an $8 brooch that you just couldn't leave behind. Of course you'll stumble across some items that are shockingly cheap. I've stumbled across an 80¢ Leather Coach coin purse but that doesn't happen often. Their home goods are fun to look at. And they have a large selection of men's hats; those are cool to rake through also. read more

I love this Value Village! It's my favorite in all of Houston! It's the cleanest, most well organized thrift store you will ever come across. I am a vintage 70s 80s clothing hunter and I find plenty of things when I go here, especially vintage dresses, blouses and jackets. Not too sure about their other departments, I don't check them, ever. The prices are great, SUPER CHEAP ($1.50-$ 3 for blouses) and it's in the best central location, so it makes it easy for me to thrift shop in River Oaks and Midtown from here. Their clothing selection isn't better than the one on Bissonett, but it's still great. It's clean, great selection and super cheap items. My favorite thrift store in Houston, hands down. read more

This is a good store if you know what to look for. Been here a few times and have found some very good items. Found a coffee mug for $.50 cents and resold it online for $100.00. What a find, right? Anyways their books are super cheap but I tend to go for the ones that do not have the price written in them. They sell better that way. Had a couple uncool experiences like with a snotty nose employee who thought she was high and mighty- yea right not working there you're not. The other experience was when I cut my hand on some coffee mugs that were in a plastic bag. bag was not sturdy and one of the employees thought it was funny, not cool. all in all It's a good place. I frequent it at least twice a week when I can. It's worth checking out if you know what to look for. O yea and bring hand sanitize gel and/or gloves because the housewares are dusty sometimes and filthy. 4-5 stars from me. bought a couple shirts that were nice and bought some handbags that were great too. read more

I love to shop at Value Village, but I don't receive the coupons in my zip code area(77028). I have to pay a customer for their extra coupon. I believe everyone should be entitled to the 50% off coupons. It should be available at the register. read more

I love this store!!! I always find the cutest dresses here. And I love the fact that I can try them on in their dressing rooms before I buy them,makes it way easier for me to shop here. Its about 20 minutes from where I stay. But its worth the drive. :-) I live near the one on Jensen but its horrible there! ! The most of the employees there are rude and management is horrible there. Lets employees get away with treating customers like crap. I live 5 minutes from there but I rather make a 20 minutes trip where is cleaner and better merchandise. :-) read more
