What a cool place to peruse. Consider this to be the Japanese version of our 99 cent store on the mainland. This makes me miss the Pricebusters we used to have right by my workplace in Hawaii Kai. You can find something for everyone at Daiso. They have bath, kitchen, even a pet department of goodies. And since the holidays are just around the corner, the first aisles by the registers are stocked with all things Christmas. Location is on Young Street between Piikoi and Pensacola. To get there, best to head down Pensacola and make a left on Young. Daiso will be at the end of the block on your right. Parking is limited and usually full from the constant flow of customers. My advice is to wait at the beginning of the lot until a customer comes out. This allows motorists to get out of their stalls without causing unnecessary wait time. The parking attendant is very friendly and will let you know where the next stall has opened up. I was looking for collapsible canvas bins to use for holiday gift baskets, and found two sizes that worked perfectly. I was never much of a fan when it came to these type of "dollar stores" when I lived in Japan or visited my friends in SoCal. Or, when Marukai had a similar 99 cents store in the Ward area you didn't see me making my way here when they were in business. There was so much talk when Daiso, a major Japanese chain store that is known for their 100 yen merchandise, first opened a Hawaii store at Pearl City in December 2018. I heard stories where people stood in lines outside just to be allowed to enter the store to control foot traffic. Why would people make such a big fuss looking to buy household items, stationary and snacks? The cost of merchandise is primarily $1.50 each with "premium" items at higher prices. I don't see the value in making my way over to Pearl City. But then Daiso opened its second store in the Honolulu area on the corner of Piikoi St. and Young St. back in March 2019. I still didn't budge. Once again, I heard stories where people have a hard time trying to park here as the parking lot isn't that large. People also stood in line waiting for their turn to enter the store. But after 6 months of the opening of this Daiso, I finally gave in. But it wasn't my first choice destination. I was in Chinatown looking for some odds and ends. I couldn't find a pair of chopsticks for me to use at work. I feel bad to keep on using disposable chopsticks to use for lunch. I wanted to be environment friendly. In Chinatown they have generic, recyclable chopstick family packs that are economical but I just wanted ONE pair, not 10 pairs. Regardless they were only $3.50 for 10 pairs, I passed. I found a store that sold previously used chopsticks for $1 per pair. I noticed some of them were "warped" with a weird bent so I also passed. As I drove away Chinatown disappointed, I noticed a friend had checked into this Daiso and decided to make my way here. When I first arrived, the parking lot was FULL so I drove on. I decided to pull into Zippy's parking lot to turn around. I noticed several cars exiting Daiso so I made my way back and this time I was able to drive in. Great timing. When entering the store, I noticed considerably more female than male shoppers, hands down. Many were browsing through aisles holding baskets filled with all sorts of merchandise. But I was on a mission: chopsticks. While looking for them, I accidently bumped into good friends who I haven't seen in over 2 years. We exchanged a few words before walking away. I finally found what I came for: chopsticks. They also had packs of 4 pairs and several that were sold by the pair. I had wanted the ones with a chopstick case but none to be found. As I was debating what to get, a friendly female staff came over to recommend the 6-sided (hexagon) chopsticks that are often used by cooks. It came along with a matching spoon. Items are made in Japan. The set was $1.50. The staff and I both noticed that was the last pair on the shelf. SOLD. As I walked proudly to the cashier, I realized I also needed shoe glue for a pair of super comfortable shoes that I'm not willing to toss, yet. And guess what? I found a multi-purpose glue for also $1.50. This can get dangerous if I hang around longer at Daiso so I decided to check out. I make my way over to the cashier and bump into the snacks corner. DANGEROUS. I saw so many things I haven't eaten in a long time. I wanted to buy ALL. But luckily, I had self control that time. I decided to compromise with 2 bags of Calbee potato chips, but these were $2 per bag. No biggie. I stood in what seemed to be a long line but it sure moved fast. I looked up to see about 5 cashiers checking people out. It didn't take long for my turn. I paid, carried away my merchandise and walked back to my car. Overall, a very satisfied experience as I walked away with what I've been wanting to get. Plus extra. And it didn't break the bank. I'll be back. read more

I'm on this organization kick right now so I've been trying to arrange my drawers and kitchen. It's just becoming so irritating to open a drawer and have to shovel through everything just to find something. I thought, ooh I'm gonna check out Daiso, maybe they have some stuff. I'm working on my kitchen junk drawers. It's a mess. Everything is everywhere and there's stuff in there that I don't even know what it is. So I was going to buy some dividers or baskets to organize the drawer into little categories. Daiso is a whole lot bigger than it looks from the outside. They had a ton of stuff. And everything is $1.50 unless it says on the tag. I was able to find some baskets for my drawer and a few other things. Note to self, don't bring my daughter to Daiso. She found and picked up a few things for herself. I was able to finish one drawer but I have another one that's messy so I came back in a few days and bought more baskets to arrange the junks. I'm finally done. Both drawers are so neat thanks to Daiso. I will definitely come back. I bought so many things and because it was only $1.50 each my total only came out to $20. read more

Make sure to set aside extra time for this location, as parking is usually an issue. Even with an attendant and clearly marked stalls, I've waited a good 10-15 minutes to park. Alternatively, some street parking is available, just make sure to check the signs. Inside you'll find cute, practical and UNpractical items, majority for $1.50, but some can be $2, $3 and I've seen as high as $6 for some premium or brand name items (Disney plush dolls, electronic type items, character windshield sunshades etc). Categories include: household, garden, stationary, beauty, decor, home goods, organization items, electronic types and some ready to eat snacks and chilled drinks. My favorites are kitchen and home goods such as oil absorbing sheets for safely discarding cooking oil, toothpicks, skewer sticks, assorted baking cups, cute dishes, organizing items, room deodorizer beads, and disposable dehumidifiers. Items in stock are not always restocked, so if you see something you really want, its better to get it, because it may not be carried the next time you go in. Its definitely easy to overspend, so keep a close eye on your "wants" versus "needs"! I usually stay away from the snacks and food items close to the registers for two main reasons. 1. Loving this location! Just not so much the parking lot. Parking entrance could probably only fit one car at a time. The stalls in the middle of the lot can be awkward. When I pulled up today, the lot was full so there was someone directing cars to wait for the next stall in line. Although this location seems smaller than the Pearl City location, I have found lots of good inexpensive items. The building has public restrooms inside. I haven't used them on any of my visits so I can't say how clean they are. The staff were around stocking shelves. One aisle was being rearranged so I thought that was odd for a Sunday (busy?). The employees that were on the floor were neither helpful or non, I never asked for any help. The cashier that rand me up was alright, so nothing bad to report (nothing amazing either). I came to this location with no real intentions of buying anything, yet I left with over $50 worth of random items lol. I don't think I've done that at the Pearl City location. This location must have good and different things than the other. Or it could be that I just felt like spending money! If you're trying to save, don't bother coming. Dollar tree of Japan, which means unlike dollar tree the stuff is stylish, high quality, AND cheap. Though it's not really a buck, it's a Buck fifty but that's totally worth it (and they do have a handful of higher priced items) With all this awesomeness comes some challenges. This place is super crowded. Have driven by at all hours and the lot is full. There's always a dude standing outside of the parking lot queuing up cars and causing all kine traffic on young street. You didn't hear this from me... but you could chance um and park across the street at the Walgreens and walk over. Chance um because there's usually a parking attendant at that lot. Maybe if you bring him back an awesome pen or snack he'd let it slide? Anyway if you can find parking it's an awesome place to go. read more

What can I say, Daiso is pure fun! We'll back up a bit - parking can be crazy difficult, so if catch theBus and walk over, you are already winning the first challenge - and drop for one point for being just a difficult spot to shop at (but hey, that's common for Daiso except in Japan). Once you enter, explore, the deals are everywhere and it may be the best collection of "didn't know I need this" to "aha! Finally found it." Not the best stuff in the world, not low level junk, either, and always some amazingly good prices. It is all non-refundable at purchase, so make sure you want it or plan to gift it. Staff also multilingual, and I found I spoke/read Japanese inside, so your own language skills could be a plus here. read more

Love Daiso. We were so excited to find this location in Hawaii. Everything in here is $1.50 unless noted. Parking is rough, since the lot is quite small and usually packed. There is a very kind security guard who is leading everyone as to where to park so everything moves smoothly. Thank you! This is definitely one of the smaller Daiso's I've visited but they still found a way to pack it with a bunch of items. The store is organized and clean. Restrooms are in the back and clean. They offer cleaning products, kitchenware, stationary, containers, pens/pencils, toys, snacks, etc. Found a bunch of gifts for loved ones. Employees are all friendly, helpful, and quick. Yes, I am a fan of Daiso! What can I say? Don't judge me. I love...good value...I love...bargain shopping and I love...cute things from Japan . It all started with my visit to Daiso in Harujuku, Japan awhile back. As you know, Daiso is a 100 yen/$1.00 store found all over Japan. Now, Daiso is sweeping across our nation. After my visit there, I became obsessed with them. Whenever I travel to the mainland, I would be on the radar looking for Daiso or a dollar store. I would come home with great finds...as always. Now, I can fufill my cravings for Daiso because they have finally arrived in Hawai'i. Daiso is not as large as the ones that I've visited, but it has everything that I am looking for. Here in Hawai'i the items in this store is about $1.50 or a little more. But, hey it is still a bargain for what you get. Just a heads up, if you want to check them out you may want to go early to get a parking space. The lot has a very limited amount of spaces in front of the store. There are about 15 spaces. The lot fills up pretty quick and the lot attendant will put up a "Lot Full" sign. He does let about 2 cars in to wait in line for a stall. Be prepared to wait for awhile. If you choose not to wait, there are street parking within the vicinity. Have fun bargain shopping once you get in. You can spend hours looking around for great finds. They do have restrooms in the store in case you gotta go.Trust me... you'll probably be there that long... enough to use the restroom. Lol. Anyway, enjoy your visit with Daiso Hawai'i. I've never been the to the Pearl City location (I heard it wasn't great), but this Daiso has more selection than the Daiso I've been to in Anaheim AND Seattle!! They have so much stuff and it's a large store. When we arrived the employees were so nice, greeting everyone that walked in and letting us know they just received a LARGE shipment of new Disney stuff!! Get it while it's here he said...and let me tell you, they had way more Disney products then the one in Anaheim right down the road from Disneyland (scratching my head) lol. They also had a Pocky demo going on and they were giving away free totes, notebooks, and Pocky blow up sticks depending on how many you buy. I scored a super cute Pocky canvas tote and notebook...I wanted the blow up Pocky, but really what would I do with it haha. Anyways, things they had a ton of that I like: Ceramic chopstick rests Chopsticks Stationary stickers/supplies Soup and Bi Bim Bap spoons Little coffee spoons with heart cut outs on the top Compact mirrors/pouches Baking/bento supplies Random useful gadgets This Daiso is easy to get to and just off Piikoi street. Note to self, if you see something at Daiso store get it or stock up on it, because you never know, if items will be available, the next time you come back for more. I was surprised, so happy to hear and read on social media that a 2nd Daiso location has opened up in town, which is so much more convenient for me. I love Daiso and have been a fan ever since I first stepped foot at the Daiso store when I visited the Pacific Northwest. I still have to get it thru my head that I am here at Daiso store, it just feels strange to shop at Daiso on the islands. This Daiso location is located on Young St. The junk part is that its located on a very busy street. If you are on the opposite end of Young St, no left turn is permitted and If you are coming from Piikoi, it is on a one way street with only one entrance, you will have to make a left on to Young St. but you can't turn in to Daiso. If the parking lot are full the guard will cone the entrance. Both visits to the Daiso store, I just parked on the street as the lots were full. This was my 2nd visit to Daiso store, my first visit, there was a very small line which I was lucky since it got longer 10 mins while I waited. They let a very small amount in at a time, whenever customers leave the store. During my first visit, I was so happy to see those spicy seaweed chips which my son loved so much, I only got a few bags and wanted to get more during this recent visit but they were all out. I also wanted to get more flower leis but didn't see any, they were being recalled per worker. What I noticed about this Daiso Store vs. the Pearl City ones, the shelves and items are fully stocked, I see more items at this location vs. the Pearl City one. I bought more at this Daiso location than I did at Pearl City. I finally got my Hawaii Daiso reusable bags which sold out when I went to the Pearl City location. During my recent visit, I was happy to see some new products, for example a little mini shopping cart with some parts in light green, my fave color ( 3.00), cosmetic bag in Japanese fabric with mini mirror (1.50) cute swimming dancing duck in water ( 1.50) I had to grab it since I love ducks, cherry blossom print ceramics bowls, spoons, and gel color nail polish. I just had to stop myself from going in to every aisle or allow myself a time limit, as shopping at Daiso store, you can easily grab tons of stuff and sure go over your budget. Remember no refunds!, but if you change your mind on the products, you can always give them away, Daiso items are super useful!! I remember this parking lot as being my pediatrician's office so I always have slight anxiety when I pass, but once I enter Daiso and see all of the cute things at a reduced price, my PTSD of childhood shots disappears! I love a deal, I love Hello Kitty/Japanese things, and I love shopping. This is my happy place! They have all kinds of kitchen supplies, office supplies, home goods, stationery, and even some Japanese snacks! Most things are $1.50 but some go a bit higher (like max approx. $5). Daiso in Honolulu!!! OMG!!! YIPPEE!!! ACKKK!!! (and other squeals of happiness!!!) This is the second location of Daiso on Oahu...and it's the best! Why? Because it's bigger than the Pearl City store! There's more variety of merchandise and it's well stocked! I usually shop at Daiso in Los Angeles where the tax is about double ours! That's right...Hawaii sales tax is just 4.719 percent! What a deal! Daiso Honolulu's free parking lot is on the corner of Young Street and Piikoi Street...enter on Young Street. I found metered street parking on Piikoi Street. Inside, the store is clean, bright, and organized! I found everything I wanted...and more! For example, my cousin told me about the black Q-tips. Japan's popular "100-yen shop" has opened its 2nd location in the state of Hawaii, both on the island of Oahu! A 100-yen shop is equivalent to America's Dollar store. Instead of whipping out a paper bill, the folks in Japan break out their 100-yen coin, which is almost the same size of a quarter. Daiso Hawaii? Everything is $1.50 unless price as marked. It appears both Daiso stores on the island carry a much smaller variety than Daiso Japan. It's still worth a visit though, especially if you've never been to Japan. This newest store off of Piikoi and Young was fully stocked with quality and "kawaii" goods (super cute goods), unlike my first visit to the Pearl City location in January. The aisles are smaller, so if someone was already in an aisle browsing, there was no way I was gonna fit through with my basket in hand. Geez, I gotta stop snacking on Pocky!! So, what does Daiso carry? My answer? Everything that you never knew you needed with random slogans printed on them! Well, there's other stuff too. Hehe. It's a blend of useful and unique items that aren't bulky but rather petite overall (these items need to fit in a Japanese home), at an affordable price! From small electronic gadgets, to cosmetics, baskets, organizers, house slippers, bowls, snacks, gardening tools, dog & cat accessories (small pets), stationery, artificial flowers, toys, and Japanese souvenirs. Unfortunately, even though Daiso originates from Japan, not all items for sale are Made in Japan. There are a lot of items Made in China, Korea, or even Malaysia, but designed for Daiso Japan. Makes me go hmm....but this is also true for Daiso Japan stores. They have a large overseas network. Current store hours: 10am to 6pm Mon thru Sat; 10am to 5pm on Sun. I was lucky to find parking in the Daiso lot but that's because I showed up half an hour early. It filled up quick before 10am and the store was nice enough to open 20 mins early for us early birds. Take a breath and control yourself before stepping into Daiso. Ready? Breathe... 1, 2, 3... Breathe... 1, 2, 3... Ok, let's go! When you first enter this Daiso, located on the corner of Young and Piikoi St, it might look like a small store, but after you turn right, then another right, you'll see this store is pretty big with many, many, many things from household to kitchen to office and school supplies to bath to pets to garden and much more! That's why control is necessary or else you'll purchase too many things and end up stuck with it because it's ALL SALES FINAL (as noted on your receipt). If you don't know Daiso since it's only been in Hawaii a few months, it's a "dollar store" similar to the Marukai 99 Cents Superstores filled with many everyday household items, but since everything is more expensive here it's the "dollar and fifty cents store." I've been to this Daiso twice so far, and the biggest problem is the parking. The lot is very small, right, and not suitable for a popular store. However, the turnover seems quick and I got lucky with someone leaving. The parking entrance is located on Young St., but you can't make a left turn because the parking attendant blocks you! That wasn't an issue the first time I came here. Is that even legal? I can't left turn because they made a sign on a cone? There's no street sign that indicates "No Left Turn." It's annoying when you see an open parking spot and it's clear to left turn and denied, only to return after circling around to find the lot is full. Sigh... But luckily I seen someone leaving and told the attendant and he let me in. Overall, I'm happy there is a Daiso store. The store inside is bright, clean, and organized. The staff here are helpful and friendly and seem to be constantly restocking the shelves. There are a lot of quality, useful items and at $1.50 each, it's a great deal! However, there are some items that are over $1.50, ranging from $2-8. My dad purchased a Japanese Nakiri knife for $3 just to try because it's Made in Japan. I think most of his knives in his case are made in Japan anyway lol. He told me it was very good! But the wooden handle wasn't good quality, and he soaked it in some kind of oil, sanded it a little and added a layer of something, which made his $3 knife worth $150! I did a good job controlling myself and did not buy anything since I don't need anything right now. I can't say the same for my family lol. read more

I love LOVE me some daiso! First shopped at a daiso in San Diego so I'm super happy they opened 2 in Hawaii. Location: This Daiso in Town is right across of 711, on young street. Also very near petco and Walgreens. Parking: So they have a parking lot that gets full very fast! They have a parking attendant and he helps to guide cars when it gets crowded. If not you could find street parking by the meters, or even across the street but for that you have to pay for parking. Items: Everything is $1.50 unless stated otherwise! The quality of the products for that price are amazing. I love shopping here for containers, bowls, plates. The organizing stuff is really good too. They have so much things that they sell it's crazy. You should definitely check it out if you have time. Personally I feel like this one has more selection sometimes then Pearl city daiso, the staff here is also very friendly. They do have a bathroom for there customers also. read more

It's got really cute stuff and great prices but it evoked a seething rage inside of me that started in the parking lot and grew as I walked around inside. First off, I went during a time I thought it wouldn't be busy. 1:45 on a Thursday. I waited 15 minutes for a parking spot to open up. And I was only 3rd in line! There's 1 way in and out (Young st side) of this Japanese finger trap of a parking lot, with the stalls angled the wrong way whichever way you try to pull in. There's a parking attendant who keeps the queue order enforced. Once I managed to get a spot, I was already aggravated. I look and see that they've got 2 stalls blocked off to help people going inside queue up. I think it's leftover from their grand opening days. Nobody needed to line up to go inside, so they should offer the stalls to the people in cars. Road rage activated- check! Enter inside and it's set up for anorexic munchkins to navigate the aisles. Everything is so close together and packed in. Everyone just blocks the aisles as they ogle over the cute stuff. It got my claustrophobia AND people road rage activated- check and check!! I got some really cute stuff. And paid less than $40 in total. Ironically the most expensive thing I bought was $5 for a rubber shark hand puppet that really should have been no more than $2 but oh well. It's for a last minute kids bday party. Their food and drinks are normal price. No savings there. The real winning stuff IMO is the cute ceramic stuff like sake flasks and plates. I bought a slate plate for $3 for serving stuff at parties. I hope it holds up. The line to pay was slow moving. 2 employees were running the registers and as the line of people stacked up and snaked into the aisle, they opened up 2 more registers. I can't imagine going there during a peak time like Saturday afternoon. I'd probably turn into Godzilla and start a mosh pit. Maybe worth another visit once the hype dies down. "Just one basket"....I told myself... I kinda kept to my promise...One full shopping basket, an umbrella, two organizers and $96 later...It's something I shouldn't be proud of but...my Daiso receipt was as long as a Long's receipt... Daiso is like my candy store! Help me please! Why do I love Daiso so much? 1. Everything is cheap! ($1, $2.00, $2.50... no more than $7(?)) 2. Decent quality 3. Anything an everything (perfect place to go to if you recently moved in to a new place or throwing a party an need affordable favors). For the longest time, I've been wanting to go to the Daiso Pearl City, but after seeing the long lines online I decided to wait. I'm glad I waited since the Piikoi store popped up. I woke my husband up early on a Saturday, just so that we could get parking #HawaiiProblems. We arrived at 8:57 am but was surprised to see the parking lot still locked (take note fellow Yelpers). There were a couple of cars lined up so we jumped in line. Note: it is better to head in the Diamond Head direction of Young Street. That way you can make the right into the parking lot. Once the store opened at 9:00 we headed in and I was surprised how big the store was! Isles and isles of goodies. It feels a little cramp but there is so much cute stuff! The quality of the items are decent, and better than what I expected when I think of something like a dollar-ish store. It won't last 10 years, but it will last you at least a couple years. Overall, I really love Daiso and going was the highlight of my weekend (yeah, I'm not a party animal and #adulting is a regular LOL). Yay Daiso! I waited so long for Oahu to have a Daiso. Then one opened in Pearl City and the wait to even get in was too long. Like I was going to a concert. Luckily for me, one opened on Piikoi downtown. Pretty much right behind Petco. Parking is scarce, I parked at petco. Had to pick up some things anyway in the strip. It got crowded quick. Everything $1.50!! (Unless otherwise marked) They got some awesome useful products and some great kitsch products like bobble heads and shark hand puppets! The really run the gamut for departments from home to pets to health & beauty. Definitely an awesome addition to the area. read more

How wonderful to have a daiso in town with hardly any parking around! Lol. Actually they have a small lot that can fit about 15 cars,but this lot is always full and blocked so it doesn't matter whether you're coming in from young or piikoi if it's coned then it's full and they won't let you in. The easiest bet is to go on Sunday. The street parking is free, so I parked on south Beretania fronting petco and walked over. Honestly I attempted to go the second day but the parking and traffic around daiso was horrendous that I decided to give up. The wait time to get in for me was about 2 minutes. There was 5 people ahead of me around 1230 on a Sunday. Thank goodness the lines wasn't crazy cause it was scorching hot. Make sure to bring some water or an umbrella so you don't faint in line. It kind of seems like they have more items here compared to pearl city. I remember going there on opening day and was so underwhelmed after waiting in line for nearly 2 hours to get in. The size itself may be the same or maybe it's cause the aisles are closer together so it's kinda hard to move through them if other people are there and most likely there is. Just politely say excuse me and shimmy your way through. Paying wasn't as traumatic either. The line to pay was under 15 minutes compared to the hour at pearl city. So win on the wait times!! If you have Instagram they do update their wait times throughout the day. Honestly the lines weren't has bad as the pearl city one. I was almost afraid to even try to attempt this again. Make sure you absolutely need the items you pay for because there is no returns. Half of the time they're just things you probably don't even need anyway! *shrug* read more

Like most new places in Hawaii, this place is CROWDED with a capital C. Might meet to wait a while for the hype to die down or try going during off peak hours. Parking lot is small. I recommend you get street parking on Young or go over 4:30 pm and park in the lot across the street. Everything in the store is $1.50 unless otherwise marked. I've been to many Daiso stores in Japan that have multiple floors so this was quite small in comparison. Best to see many similar items :) Neat thing about Daiso? Finally! Daiso arrived in town! When we lived in Seattle, WA, we went to the Daiso store on a weekly basis. I loved this store! Even though the space looks smaller, Daiso sell the same products. Daiso sells quality products. The price ranges from $1.50 to $2.00. Some products cost more and the price goes up to $6.00. The aisles look very neat and clean. Near the cash registers, patrons can buy cold tea, and coffee drinks. Near the center we can buy home products, cosmetics, and personal care items. Located at Piikoi St., tucked in near the Door of God Church, it does not have a large parking lot. Daiso opens at 10am on Sundays. When we came here we saw a line build up before Daiso opened. We like this location as it caters to the local population and closer to where we live. Another Daiso opened in Pearl City, but it is a bit too far for us to go. Love this place!! Totally hate the parking lot! It's near the Piikoi Walgreen's ( I wonder how many people cheat and park there?) I can't begin to say what you can find here. I've found baking stuff that I couldn't find in other stores. Anything from snacks to pet stuff to cute Disney stuff. I admit I get my eyebrow pencil there! $1.50 for most of the stuff, some are more and are marked. Not more than $5. It's always busy here but on Tuesdays and Thursdays, there are kupuna hours from 9am to 10 am. It's not the 3 story one you can visit in Japan but enough to make all of us pretty happy! read more

They finally put a DAISO in town and it's great! When it first opened the wait was about 10 minutes but there is no wait anymore. The shelves are all filled with merchandise and there are lots of $1.50 items. Some of the more useful item can cost up to $8.00. All sales here are final so before you drop it in your basket, ask yourself, do I really need this? Having that mindset stopped me from buying a bunch of items that just looked cute versus I will actually use this item. But if there is something you really want then just buy it because the next time you go back, it probably won't be there. I've shopped in DAISO in San Francisco before so my favorite items are the car accessories and arts & crafts items. I think the best time to go is on a week day before closing. You have a better chance of getting a space in the DAISO parking lot. They are located at the corner of Piikoi and Young Street. The entrance is on Young Street. As a courtesy, DAISO was posting on IG that they didn't want people doing left turns into their parking lot especially when the lot was full. People were holding up traffic on Young Street during rush hour. It's best to just turn right into their parking lot or wait on the side by the church until a parking space frees up inside. If you want to save $1.50, bring your own bag to hold all your purchased goods. read more

It's been a year since my trip to Japan and I'm getting anxious to travel there again...this is my therapeutic way of keeping it at bay. All will say it's smaller and yes it like 10X smaller but I think it's more like a 1000% blessing considering the closing of Shirokiya only one Sanrio store yes sadly the asian goods we can find here are limited. Prices start at $1.50 which is a good majority and there others priced higher but in Japan those are priced higher as well so it not because it's shipped here. Have fun and get creative with them many items they have but be careful you are not able to return or exchange for all sales are final. Parking is tight but there is a helpful attendant that does his best to get you there. read more

It was quite busy and the new Piikoi store is not that spacious but there are enough household items and food/drinks for the average consumer of Japanese items. Clean and well-organized is what you expect from a Japanese franchise...along with great customer service...and Daiso delivers. It is my first visit - have not been to the Pearl City locale as of yet - and the line wasn't too long...about a ten minute wait to get inside. I got some instant ramen and some nicknacks for the kitchen. It was quite crowded with locals and some Japanese tourists/nationals. I purchased one of the exclusive to Hawaii reusable shopping Got the usual today...some miscellaneous household products and snacks. First time visiting Hawaii's Daiso coz I'm not a fan of queuing just to be the first to get my hands on anything (unless it's yummy food made in limited quantities daily). According to Yelp, store hours commence at 9:00. I got here at 9:14 on a Non-holiday Friday and snagged the last open stall. Many thanks to the parking attendant for pointing it out to me, for I wouldn't have thought that odd-shaped corner space was a parking stall! There were approximately 20 parking stalls. The store is clean, bright, and neatly categorized. It is also deceptively spacious. I like that it's not packed to the brim, which can sometimes look messy and cheap. Everything is $1.50 unless marked otherwise, such as the drinks in the fridge, fancy Japanese candy ($2.00), and the bigger items like laundry baskets in the back ($6.00). I've been to Daiso stores in Singapore and those carry a bigger variety of items. This one has a fairly large section of arts and crafts items and stationery. I've recently restarted my childhood obsession with stickers and was pleasantly surprised to see this store has a good selection. I'm also curious why there are SO MANY Disney products? I presume they are licensed and legit...? The gardening section is somewhat limited but has what I might want to purchase in the future for our community garden plot. I think Daiso is a good place to shop for inexpensive party favors, one-time/seasonal decorations, and holiday gift exchanges with coworkers or acquaintances. Daiso is usually my go to store for small organization and disposable items. The quality is good for the price (which unfortunately has gone up again). However my visit this evening was very uncomfortable as there was an employee who was constantly coughing and sniffling while putting things out in the tool and garden section. I mentioned this to an older employee who seemed to be in charge as he closed the entrance door near closing time. He just shrugged, asked me to repeat myself, and appeared confused as to why I would raise awareness about a sick employee. *COVID-19 review* It was WAYY too crowded. On their Yelp page they say they limit the amount of customers, but that didn't seem to be the case when I went on a Saturday at 4pm. There was no line of people waiting outside. At least one person was in almost every aisle, resulting in many inevitable instances of people being in close proximity, way less than 6ft. I would honestly say it was crowded even by pre-COVID standards. It was also really loud, like I was thinking to myself that this is the loudest place I've been in a long time. This was actually my first time at a Hawaii Daiso. I mean, it's a Daiso. Good stuff. Not as good as the Japan one but that's to be expected. As I waited, I saw many people filling the parking lot in10 min. The parking attendant was directly people into their parking spaces. This Daiso is very popular. The store is well stocked. I was so excited when Daiso came to Hawaii and even more excited now that it's in town. Great place to find affordable things including stationary supplies, beauty items, kitchen goods, organizers, pet items, cleaning tools, art and DIY things, toys, gardening goods, socks and footwear, and much more. A lot of the items are also cutely designed and aesthetic. If you see something you like, I'd get it sooner than later because items can go fast and it seems like they change inventory often. There are so many things so you have to make sure to look everywhere. Great place to get gifts. Items are $1.50 unless other specified by a price sticker. I saw things that were $4 and $6. Everything is final sale. Staff are nice and are often restocking or organizing the merchandise. No one came up to ask if I needed help, but that's fine with me. Parking is tough. Well if you are not wanting to spend a lot of your hard earned money on some of the daily use items but still want something that is pretty nice well Daiso is a great store to go to. I like the bowls here as they are cheap and stylish and I supply myself with a lot of gardening gloves here since they are cheap and I go through a lot of them with my garden. There are a lot of other items that are great too and i always find myself browsing around. Parking is a little bit small as so many people want to go here but hah not a problem for me if I'm heading there I will usually ride bike or go by Moped no problem! I first went to Daiso a few years ago when I visited Japan and I was wondering if there would ever be a store like this in Hawaii. They had just about everything under the sun and all for 100 yen! Pricebusters were the closest thing we had. HAD. Years down the line, I saw on the news that Daiso was finally coming to Hawaii! I avoided opening day because well...you know what happens when something new comes to Hawaii! A few weeks later, I braved the crowds and went to see on my moped, anticipating a lack of parking. Good call on my part! I got in and parked with ease. Once I set foot in the store, all the familiar goods I've seen in Japan were there. The selection of goods is impressive. There were some things that I've been looking all over for and was about to buy it online, but decided to sneak a peek at Daiso first and to my surprise, there it was! And for a fraction of what it would have cost with shipping! Everything in the store in Japan is 100 yen (about $1) but costs 50% more here. That's still a helluva bargain!! My kitchen has a bunch of Daiso stuff from 3" cake molds (which I ALMOST bought online) tiny brushes to scrub the sipping lid of my Hydro Flask, brushes with built-in detergent dispenser... If you've never been to Daiso yet, it's worth a peek. I guarantee you'll find whatever it is you're looking for...or you'll find something you didn't even realize you needed.
