There is nothing quite like a spontaneous ice cream run to make a day special. I stopped in to pick up a treat for my daughter for a couple of treats and it was a perfect treat to cool me down. I went with an abosulute favorite of mine- a scrumptious chocolate-dipped vanilla cone- and it hit the spot perfectly. My daughter ordered a classic Blizzard that was absolutely yummy. Beyond the great treats, which really stands out about the Dairy Queen Store location on Chicago Avenue in Naperville is the atmosphere. It is clear that the owner truly cars about the community and that positive energy reflects in the staff, who were welcoming and attentive. The ice cream was really good. It tasted super fresh and tasty. The service was excellent. The girl working was really nice. She was kind and made our ice cream fast. The just painted the bathroom and it looks really good. They have two booths, a children's bench, and outdoor seating. It is plenty of seating because it is usually not very busy. Ordered a cherry dipped cone and this is what I was handed... before I took it, I asked if it was dipped and the young man laughed at me and said "yes, this is how they look." Really really poor location. They advertise that it's "served upside down or it's free". When they didn't do it (because the blizzards were incredibly runny and poorly made) the kid said "our managers says we don't participate in that". If it's on your advertising... then you are participating. The owner is routinely rude (and I think the rude kid is his son). Incredibly poor customer service overall. I have no idea how this guy maintains his franchise because he gives Dairy Queen a really really bad reputation. The only thing saving him is his location. A hundred thumbs down. read more

One of the better Dairy Queens I've been to. I stopped in Sunday before the Bears game for a delicious frozen treat. The blizzard I ordered was great and the service I received from the staff and owner were even better. In fact, the service was so good, that when I went to use the restroom but discovered that some disgusting person had destroyed the bathroom due to apparent lactose intolerance or a weak stomach, the staff immediately rectified the issue. Perfect experience from start to finish! Employees were masked, barely audible and didn't greet us at all. I'm done talking to people in public anyway, so fine. My son and I were both constipated, so we made a good choice ordering the butterscotch dipped cones! Got things moving within the hour. After losing a couple pounds, the scale has me smiling!! My husband, however, is less as appreciative of the colon cleanse. He had to pause the Bears game several times and was no longer watching live to banter with his dudes over text. At least they weren't over to watch the game with us. They would've witnessed a real show! The owner is the crabbiest human to walk the face of the Earth and has made decisions like discontinuing DQ bucks for community events. It's no wonder the employees lack any sense of customer service. I wish something else would take this spot in the strip walking distance from my home. You won't believe this! My wife went in to buy 3-$10 gift cards. She was told "due to fraud issues we can only sell a maximum of $25 to each customer". She said oh, but I'm paying with cash. The employee checked with a manager and he verified the ridiculous policy. My wife is very clever! She bought 2-$10 gift cards and asked someone in line that she didn't know to purchase the other $10 card. Quite frankly I would have turned around and walked out. I went to this location for the first time and a good friend of mine that is a manager at another location has always told me it's policy that when you order a Blizzard they are supposed to flip it upside down or else its free. This place isn't worthy of the Queen moniker, I would say Damsel is more appropriate. The consumables are fine but the environs suck, and if you get one of the grizzled owners serving you, be prepared to feel as if you've asked to have the gordeon knot untied, i.e. you'll get the feeling that a huge favor is being performed in your honor. The garbage can is perpetually overflowing, the benches in front are wobbly and sticky, they don't participate in any of Dairy Queen's national promotions, and it's expensive! read more

Stopped in since our DQ is not open yet and cannot believe how dirty it is for just the start of the season. When we walked in the owner was outside hugging and petting his dogs. There was a strange odor inside which was very unappealing. There were small black spots all over the white tile floor, paw prints? And chewed up gum stuck to the floor....not like this place was super busy. Owner came in after we left and did wash his hands which I was glad to see since he is serving food, but didn't seem friendly. Dairy Queen, in my honest #notmyrodrick opinion, is the best place for a soft serve. I got Brookies, the new brownie and cookie blizzard, which was limited edition for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It was great! The ice cream to truest soft serve. There was a man behind me getting a cone, and the barista poured it to perfection. It's a great price point for food full of GMO's. read more

I really like this Dairy Queen. Each time I have gone the employees have been incredibly nice to the customers. This last time I went the owner was working and he was super friendly. I always order an item that is "customized" and they never charge me extra or say they can't make it for me; I appreciate that. Love this place. The people are always polite, courteous, friendly, and accommodate customization of your order. I don't usually comment on a food place's cleanliness, but since a recent review mentioned it, I will contribute my opinion. It's always been very clean every time I've been there, and I'm there almost every day in the summer. The servers clean up any accidental spills immediately before making the next item. I had someone pick up something for me at this dairy queen and got ripped off big time!! I ordered the chocolate covered strawberries waffle bowl sundae. What I received was no kidding 2 strawberries, No hardshell chocolate anywhere. just chocolate watered down equaling a tsp if lucky....I was charged full price for that slop!!! This place does get busy at times, but for a good reason. Remember people, this isn't a McDonald's or some other place where your food is sitting under the heating lamps. Almost everything is made fresh when you order. Only exceptions are the frozen treats, which are still made in the store by the way. Plus, they have items that other locations seem to have discontinued. Every time I go in here the staff is working hard and fast to keep the line moving. When I walked in with my Service Dog, with her I.D., I was told dogs weren't allowed. I tried to explain what the law says about Service Dogs, but it didn't matter and I was refused service unless I took my dog outside. It was a teenager and he was just trying to keep his job but, the law is the law. So I asked for the owner's name and that was also refused. So, I said I would have to call the police and got out my phone. Before I could make the call, he called the owner who said it was ok. I really wasn't trying to be difficult, but what about the next person who came in with a Service Dog? The teenager did the smart thing to call his boss and I was glad it ended there. Service Dogs are becoming more common (many illegally, unfortunately), and those of us who really need their help are already hurting in some way or another and would really appreciate business owners were up on the law and informed their employees who end up suffering too. I was proud of the teenager who was thinking on his feet because I really didn't want him to suffer because of his ill-informed boss. Whoever you are (the teenager) good for you!! And to his boss, give the kid a raise! He saved you from a lot of hassle. read more

Cotton Candy blizzards are my FAVORITE ice cream treat and this is the only location I know of that still offers them. True, its not the newest, cleanest store, but the ice cream is good and it serves its purpose of getting the ice cream and hitting the road. The guy working was friendly enough in the 2 minute interaction I had with him, so no complaints. It seems to alway be busy when I go so I guess the I'm not the only one whose not too concerned with the cleanliness. read more
